SAMPLE
“Being bad isn’t all fun and games, is it, Kira?” he asked. His hand, the one that had delivered the stinging pain smoothed over my burning flesh and suddenly I wasn’t hurting anymore. Heat seeped into my body, gathering between my legs. His hand slid lower, fingertips slipping into my slit.
A blast of need rippled through me.
I wasn’t angry anymore.
“Please,” I begged as I inched my knees apart a little to give him better access to my wet pussy. “Ohhhh. Please.”
“You’re a very bad girl,” he said. His voice was thick and rich, like my favorite chocolate and it made my insides melt. If this is what happened when I was bad, I liked it. I liked it a lot.
“Yes, I am. I’m bad. I need a big, strong man like you to teach me how to be a good girl,” I said as I writhed. Ripples of need were threading through my body, tugging my muscles into tense knots.
“Yes, you do.” His fingertip dipped deeper, sliding into my untried opening. “Ah, you’re wet.”
“Yes, sir.” Wet and also burning all over. Burning for him.
His finger pushed a little deeper and I shuddered. My body clamped around his invading digit, and the heat simmering in my blood amplified. I was in agony.
“Let me see this little virgin pussy of yours.” His finger pulled out and I bit back a cry of frustration. He helped me off his lap and positioned me on my back with my ass practically hanging off the edge of the bed. “There. Now spread your legs for me. Spread them wide.” He pressed against my knees, forcing them out and back.
Now I was open to his hungry, dark eyes. Vulnerable. Squirming and breathless and desperate.
What would he do next?

Chapter One
When I was little I used to dream of meeting a sexy, powerful prince, being swept off my feet, and riding into the sunset in his arms.
Ah, the folly of youth.
I’d never met a prince. I probably never would. But even if I did someday, no prince would look twice at me.
Outside of the fact that I was a brunette, I was no Kate (you know which Kate I mean, I hope). Where she was spectacular, I was plain. Dull. My hair was long but it was thin and limp. My skin was so white I looked sick all the time. My eyes were big but a nondescript shade of muddy gray. My lips were full but downturned in a constant pout that made me look perpetually sad.
If justice reigned in the universe (which it clearly did not) I would have inherited my mother’s looks. She, like Kate, was a stunningly beautiful woman.
Was.
She was gone. She had been gone for over a year now.
Even when she was at her worst, bald and fragile from the chemo, she was gorgeous. Unlike me.
But there was one thing I managed to inherit from her, my one redeeming quality.
If you took the time to actually speak to me, I knew how to make you smile.
Today, it seemed, I would need to put that gift to work. Again.
Luke was my stepfather. I lived with him in his giant, empty house. Being a billionaire, he was the closest I’d ever come to meeting a prince. He was ridiculously rich, like so rich he never had to think about money. He could buy anything he wanted, anytime. Businesses. Cars. Airplanes. Jewelry. Small countries. But if there was one example of that age-old expression, money doesn’t buy happiness, then he was it.
I could see the sadness, the loneliness, in his eyes. Since Mom’s death it was there all the time.
It was there tonight.
Now, I admit I’ve had a thing for Luke since the first time I saw him. Who could blame me? Mom had great taste in men. Luke was tall, with broad shoulders, a narrow waist, perfect hair and a face that made women drool. And he wasn’t just great to look at. He was also smart, a little mysterious, and very powerful, and, at the age of sixteen when they married, I was old enough to appreciate all his finer attributes. But I’d never admitted my feelings to anyone, not even after Mom died. It was hardly appropriate, since Luke was grieving.
But I had stood by and watched him drag around with the most miserable look on his face for a whole year. And I’d had enough. I would give anything to make his pain go away—anything I had, even my most treasured possess
ions. But so far, despite doing everything in my power, the best I’d been able to do was make the sadness fade for a short time. A very short time.
Tonight I was on a mission. Luke was a good guy. He didn’t deserve to be so depressed all the time.
Like always, he was sitting in his home office, staring at his computer screen. His door was open. That meant it was okay for me to interrupt. I knocked on the doorframe anyway, so I wouldn’t startle him.
He twisted to look over his shoulder. “Kira.”
“I’m bored. Want to watch a movie with me?” Wearing my usual, white t-shirt and a pair of yoga pants, I shouldered the doorframe.
He blinked a couple of times, considering my invitation. “Sure.”
Celebrating my small victory, I gave him a great big smile. “I’ll make some popcorn if you want to head into the den to find something for us to watch.”
“Sounds good.”
I hurried into the kitchen and grabbed the full bowl and two cans of cherry cola. I’d anticipated he would be game for a movie; he generally was if he wasn’t too busy. As I barefooted it to the ginormous sectional in our den, snack in hand, he shook his head. His mouth pulled into a lopsided grin. I loved that grin. “That was quick. Did you have it popped already?”
I shrugged. “I had a feeling you needed a break from work. You’re always telling me to be prepared.” I plopped down next to him, set the cans on the coffee table, and placed the bowl on the cushion, between us.
“Yes, that’s true, I am always telling you that.” Clicking the remote at the TV, he scooped up a handful of popcorn and crammed it in his mouth. “What are you in the mood for?” he asked around a mouthful.
“Oh, I don’t know. How about something funny?”
“Funny. Hmmm.” His thumb depressed the channel button. Click, click, click. Before our eyes, little snippets of videos flashed. A girl with a dog. A creepy man with piercing eyes. A burning car. A man and woman writhing on a bed.
I sucked in a little gasp. The brief glimpse of that couple was enough to make my insides warm.
I was eighteen. I’d just graduated in May and hadn’t decided what I wanted to study in college so I opted to take a year off and find myself. So far, the only thing I’d discovered was that I liked to sleep. And that was hardly an earth-shattering discovery.
I’d had a couple of boyfriends in high school, but nothing serious. Attending an all-girl’s Catholic school kind of sheltered me from that whole scene. But I was ready to dive in and experiment. The problem was I hadn’t met anyone, outside of Luke, who interested me. Since I wasn’t going to school and I wasn’t working, my social life was pretty much non-existent. Unless you counted the many charity events I attended with Luke. Most girls my age probably wouldn’t count them. But I did. I liked being with Luke, especially in public. When I was standing at his side I felt important.
But as far as dating went. What was that?
And sex? Thanks to discovering the world of smut on my ereader, I’d learned how to masturbate. But that was as close as I got to sex. At eighteen I was still a virgin.
I was so ready to lose the V-card.
Luke had already clicked on, surfing through at least a dozen more movie channels before looking at me and heaving a sigh. “Did you see anything that looked good?”
“Not really.” The image of that couple writhing on the bed flashed through my head. If I was alone, I would probably check that one out. But there was no way I could watch a film like that with Luke. How awkward would that be?
His gaze searched my face. “Suggestions?”
“If all else fails, there’s always reruns of Big Bang Theory,” I suggested.
“Sounds good to me.”
Watching the screen as he selected the series recordings, I grabbed one of the cans and yanked on the pull tab. The can opened with a loud pop and dark cola exploded from the tiny opening, showering both Luke and me. It didn’t stop. I screeched, plunked the can down on the table and covered the top with my cupped hands to try to block the eruption. Luke cussed, yelling, “I’ll grab a towel,” snatched up the spewing can, and sprinted to the kitchen.
I took inventory.
I was covered in sweet-smelling cola. So was a good portion of the white couch. And the expensive genuine cowhide rug under my feet. And the coffee table.
Shit.
“Here you go.” Luke was mopping his own face with one towel. He handed me a second. I stood to accept it. Our gazes locked and something really strange happened.
The air seemed to crackle.
His lips parted slightly. His gaze dropped a little, I think to my mouth then lower still. His brows scrunched slightly. “You’re covered. Maybe you should jump in the shower. Or…at least change your clothes.”
He was still staring. Down there. At about boob level. I glanced down to see why.
Ah. So that was why.
My shirt was clinging to my chest.
I wasn’t wearing a bra.
While I couldn’t exactly see my nipples poking at the material from my vantage, I’d seen enough movies to know a white t-shirt generally became see-through when it got wet. The tingle told me my nipples were hard. The heat on my face told me I was blushing. But the warm throbbing between my legs told me I wasn’t just embarrassed by his obvious staring.
I realized that I liked the way he was looking at me. It thrilled me. It made my heart thump hard against my breastbone and my pussy throb and clench. Suddenly a crazy impulse whipped through my head.
I wanted to kiss him.
“Luke,” I whispered.
His gaze jerked to my eyes.
His face was tense and red, a muscle on his jaw twitching. His pupils were so wide it looked like his eyes were black. “You’d better go change before…” He visibly swallowed.
“Before what?” I whispered.
Was he feeling the same thing I was? Was he feeling those whisper thin threads pulling our bodies closer? Was he struggling to breathe?
“Before you…before I…” He moved back a single step.
I grabbed his hand, stopping him from taking another. “You’ll what?”
“You don’t want to know. Go change.” He yanked his hand away and stomped toward the kitchen, leaving me standing there all wet and sticky…and wet between my legs.
I wasn’t happy. And I wasn’t ready to give up. I could tell there was chemistry between us, something special. And he’d felt it too. Mom had been dead long enough. It was time for Luke to move on with life.
And why shouldn’t he move on with me?
Being quite a few years younger than my mom, Luke wasn’t that much older than me. I cared for him. He cared for me. We were both adults. And we were both lonely. Why shouldn’t we see where this thing between us led? If nothing else, I trusted Luke. I wanted him to be my first. I had a feeling he would be a very giving, patient lover. Nothing like the guys my age.
I followed him into the kitchen. He had his back to me and was standing at the sink. The water was running.
I peeled off my wet shirt and lobbed it over his shoulder. It smacked the backsplash and plopped into the sink.
Startled, he jerked a look over his shoulder. Then he did a double-take. Wide-eyed. Red-faced.
“What the hell are you doing?” he snapped.
“My shirt will get stained if I don’t rinse it right away,” I said as if it was no big deal that I was standing in the kitchen shirtless. “Use cold water, please.”
“Go put some clothes on,” he practically growled.
I hid a smile of satisfaction. He was losing control. I could tell. The grit in his voice vibrated along my nerves, making them sizzle and my heart thump.
“I’ll put on some clothes in a minute. I need to wash up first.” Swaying my hips seductively, I sauntered up to him and took the wet washcloth out of his hands. I dragged it down the center of my body. “I’m all sticky. If I put on clean clothes now, I’ll just mess them up.”
His eyes
snapped to my tits. His tongue darted out, swiped across his lower lip then disappeared back inside his mouth. He didn’t say a word.
“I’m grown up now, Luke. I’m an adult,” I pointed out, not that he couldn’t see that for himself. All my adult body, from the waist up, was in plain sight. “There’s something between us, chemistry. I feel it. You do too. You’re lonely. I’m lonely. Why shouldn’t we see where this takes us?”
“There’s no ‘this’,” he claimed, making air quotes. His eyes, his face, his whole body—including the big lump in his pants—said otherwise. There was most definitely a ‘this’ going on. A big this. “You’re my stepdaughter forchristsakes.”
“I was your stepdaughter. And I hardly qualified for that. You were only married to my mom for a year. I was sixteen when you married her. Now I’m an adult, eighteen, living in your house because you are a nice, generous, kind man. I stopped being your stepdaughter the day Mom died. Your obligation to me ended when she died. And so did your commitment to her.”
“No, it’s not like that.” His eyes kept hopping up and down from my chest to my face. “Dammit.” He grabbed a dishtowel out of the drawer and smacked it against my boobs. “I can’t talk to you when you’re like that. Cover up.”
“I’ll cover up if you’ll do one thing,” I said.
He eyes narrowed to slits. “What’s that?”
“Kiss me.”
“Dammit.”
I dropped the dishtowel. “Kiss me, Luke. One kiss. Prove there isn’t anything between us and I won’t ever mention it again.”
He considered my proposal for a handful of agonizing seconds. Finally he nodded. “Just one kiss. But the towel covers your tits. Or I don’t do it.”
I bent down, snatched up the towel and smoothed it against my chest, holding it in place with one hand.
He stepped once, twice, three times, stopping directly in front of me. His eyes searched mine. I wondered, as I stood there, practically trembling with anticipation, if he could hear my heartbeat. It was pounding so fast and hard I could feel it practically splitting my breastbone. “This is a mistake,” he said.
