I’m sorry I thought that about you, Naad. I didn’t want to believe it was true. God, I’m so glad it’s not true.” She leaned into his touch as he stroked her face.
“Ally, did you guess the code to deactivate the protective barrier?”
She flushed and tried to look away, but he grasped her chin, giving her no choice but to stare into his eyes. “Yes,” she finally admitted. “It took a while, but I finally guessed it. I had watched you press the buttons a few times and sort of knew which area of the pad to press, though I cannot read your letters, or numbers, or whatever those symbols mean. I was outside the cave when I saw you with the woman.”
