The Tigers Shared Mate Page 19

by Bonnie Burrows

  She’d missed this.

Jareth’s mouth kissed the nape of her neck once again, his fingers still working the folds of her sex and driving her into a frenzy. He abandoned her neck to nibble her ear and along her neck, blowing softly over the wet trail he left behind and starting all over again.

Lydia was so engrossed in Jareth’s attention that she didn’t notice his hand moving away until Carter plunged into her, burying himself to the hilt with one smooth motion.

She gasped with pleasure. Her nerves hummed as he stroked her deeply. When he angled himself so that he could use his free hand to squeeze and stroke her breasts, she whimpered in pleasure.

There was too much pleasure coming from all angles for Lydia to maintain focus. She let herself float along, the vast ocean they created swirling and crashing all around her as her body moved ever closer to climax.

The room was bright, the sun streaming in through the open window and illuminating their bodies. Lydia looked into Carter’s eyes, lost in their pure green depths.

“I love you,” he whispered softly.

His face was damp, and his mouth was tight with the effort to hold on to his last bit of control. He held his breath, waiting for her response.

  “I love you, too.”

Carter couldn’t wait any longer, mouth crashing into hers as he rode his orgasm. Lydia joined him, arching and bucking beside him. Jareth slid against her, holding her still to give Carter the leverage to pummel her. The sensation was both rough and tender all at once, ripping a strangled cry of pure ecstasy from her throat. She shuddered and pulsed around him. Her body drew everything he had to give and more from him before finally releasing him.

They lay in a heap, spent and gasping for air. Lydia leaned against Jareth, arms and legs entwined with both men. Jareth moved his mouth to her ear again, whispering softly.

  “My turn.”

His voice was raspy and raw, his arousal pushing insistently against her thighs.

Jareth worked himself into position, pulling her leg back to rest on his hip so he could take her from behind. Her body was already primed and ready, the heat consuming him as he slid into her. Lydia moaned and writhed, nerves already raw from her climax.

She didn’t think she could take anymore and was about to tell him so when the tightness began to build within her. Carter lazily ran his finger around her nipples, pinching and kneading the sensitive flesh and watching her face while Jareth plunged deeper and deeper.

The second climax built faster than the first, and pretty soon, Lydia was fighting to hold onto the last bit of control that she had over her body. Jareth was unconcerned, taking his time with her, holding her tightly to prevent her when she tried to hurry him along.

When she was certain that she would die before Jareth set her free, he nipped her ear, drawing her attention to his mouth, his thrusts increasing in depth and speed.

“I love you, Lydia, with everything I am, I love you.”

  “I love you.”

  “Don’t ever leave us again.”

  “I won’t.”

  “Promise?”

  “I promise, please, Jareth.”

Her pleas were the last coherent thing that escaped her mouth before Jareth flung her over the edge, sailing on the climax with her. They moaned and writhed as one, Jareth’s teeth clamping softly onto her neck and driving her further into oblivion.

They spent the rest of the afternoon in bed, lazily making love over and over until they had no more left to give. Lydia was falling asleep in between them when they slipped out, getting ready to meet with their afternoon client.

Lydia watched them from her bed, enjoying the sight of them moving around naked in her room, both hunting out their clothes in the jumble of discarded blankets and sheets. They’d welcomed her home to the brink of exhaustion, but it had been worth it. She’d missed them horribly while she’d been gone.

Both men dressed unhurriedly. Lydia enjoyed the opportunity to drink in the sight of them, chiseled abs and muscled arms flexing easily as they moved. They were both so handsome, and she cherished the gift they both were.

Shirtless, Jareth jogged the few steps to the bed, leaning down to kiss her greedily and leaving the room to get ready for their meeting.

Carter followed suit, still nude, his kiss lingering a bit before he finally broke away.

  “I’m glad you’re back, Lydia.”

“Me, too. I was worried that I wouldn’t be welcome.”

“I’m guessing you’re not worried about that anymore,” he winked.

“If that was unwelcomed, I don’t know if I could handle being welcomed home.”

“Rest up. I’ll send some food up and have your things brought up so you can shower and sleep. I’m not done with you yet, and I doubt Jareth is. It’s going to be a long night.”

He kissed her again and left. Lydia watched him go, marveling at the tightness of his delicious ass. Her body stirred and she wondered if he meant what he’d said. Making love to the two of them all night sounded divine.

Exhaustion overcame her and Lydia laid back on the pillows. She closed her eyes, relieved to finally be home. As promised, she would never leave again.

  Within seconds, she was asleep.

It didn’t take long for everyone to get wind of Lydia’s return. She was welcomed back into the fold with open arms. The outpouring of support from the shifter community at large was amazing. She had never in her life been so accepted, and she was enjoying every moment. Martin and Siva arrived the day after her return, with Siva dragging Tristan along to help with the work. There was a nursery to decorate.

Lydia, feeling more ungainly with each passing day, decided to pull up a chair and order the nursery furniture from her tablet while Tristan and Martin painted the room under Siva’s watchful eye.

Every now and then, Siva would look over Lydia’s shoulder and comment about something Lydia had picked out.

Carter and Jareth had informed Lydia that they would be hiring a full time assistant for her. She hadn’t even wasted a moment considering who it would be. Siva had said yes without hesitation, eager to move out of her parent’s home and into something with a little more privacy.

It was the perfect setup for both of them.

Siva sat down beside Lydia, handing her a drink and looking at the array of furniture in the virtual shopping cart, one button away from arriving on her doorstep this afternoon.

“I like all of that. It’s going to go great with the paint and the theme of the room. Did you remember the bassinet for the first few weeks? I’m sure you’ll want to be close.”

“I did. Do you think it’s too much? I mean the room and all the baby stuff. I love pink but I’m afraid I went a little overboard.”

Siva looked around the room, taking in the lavender and pink, with a splash of silver accents breaking up the overly girly décor.

“I think the white furniture is going to look wonderful in this room, and she’s going to love it.”

“That’s good, but Jareth and Carter weren’t too keen on it.”

  “They’ll adapt.”

  “Yes they will.”

Siva looked at Tristan and Martin, noting that the two men were in deep conversation before she spoke. Lydia pushed the send button, relief evident.

“The furniture will be here by five,” Lydia said. “I can’t believe this is really real.”

“I know. I’m so excited. Speaking of things that are unbelievably awesome, I meant to thank Carter and Jareth for hiring Tristan as their assistant, but I haven’t gotten a chance yet.”

“They’re putting the finishing touches on the hush hush project and they’ll join us. I’m glad he was available. We figured we’d be seeing a lot of him once you finished moving in, so why not kill two birds with one stone.”

  Siva blushed.

“But that’s not the only reason he got the job, right?”

“Oh no. He’s wonderful and more than qualified. B
ut don’t think it won’t be a family joke for years to come.”

  Siva’s expression was startled.

  “We’re family?”

“Of course we are. I’ve never had a sister, and I always wanted one. And Martin, well he’s like the uncle that Sadler was before my mother broke his heart. At least, that’s what I’ve decided to believe.”

Lydia put her hand to her stomach, rubbing softly over the spot where her child kicked over and over, stretching the skin of her stomach wildly.

  “Can I feel?”

  “Of course.”

She guided Siva’s hand to the exact spot, laughing along with her when the baby kicked her over and over.

“I can’t wait to have my own someday.”

“I can’t wait to have this kid. Any day now and I am more ready every moment.”

As if on cue, a sharp pain shot through her, making her catch her breath and close her eyes.

  “Is it time?”

  Siva was excited.

“No. This happens all the time. It’s practice contractions. Like there’s a need to practice. It is nothing more than an annoyance that reminds me that I’m still pregnant.”

Lydia felt their presence before she saw them, turning to smile at Jareth and Carter as they stepped through the doorway.

“Are you sure it’s not a boy? I really had my heart set on any color but pink and purple.”

Jareth was teasing her, but she threw him a dirty look anyway. She stood up, poking him playfully in the ribs before hugging him tightly. He wrapped his arms around her, hand seeking out her round belly naturally.

“Are you still sure about the name?”

“I’m so sure. Do you like it?”

“I love it, and so does Carter. It’s a beautiful name.”

Carter stepped forward, swooping Lydia out of Jareth’s arms and spinning her round once before pulling her in for a passionate kiss.

“You’re needed in the dining room,” he said.

  “For what?”

  “Does it matter?”

“Not really, since that’s where all the food is.”

Jareth laughed at her joke, but Carter merely smiled. Her voracious appetite had become a running joke in the house.

Lydia slid her an arm in each of theirs, letting them guide her down the staircase and across the large foyer.

Jareth ran ahead to open the door to the dining room and Lydia gasped. The room was packed with familiar faces from her wedding. In the center of the large table were more gifts than she could count, each carefully wrapped in bright pink and purple paper.

“Is all this for the baby?” She whispered to Carter.

“Of course it is. The first born is a big deal here. And the second born and so on. Good news spreads fast.”

Lydia was floored. She couldn’t believe that people she hardly knew had gone to so much trouble for her. The decorations covered the dining room, spilling out into the adjoining sitting room. There were cupcakes and treats of every shape and size placed strategically around the room on ornate serving trays.

She couldn’t hold back the tears that threatened, or the wide grin that spread across her face and stuck. This was more than she’d ever dreamed of.

Carter sat her down on an overstuffed chair, and they went about the task of opening everything, oohing and ahhing over each tiny outfit and toy. Between the three of them, it took almost an hour. Lydia was beaming. She couldn’t believe the outpouring of love and support when she was practically a stranger. Never in her life had she felt so very loved and accepted. Here, among her kind, she felt at home.

Lydia moved around the room, greeting every guest and thanking them for coming, she was nearing the end of the line of well-wishers when another pain ripped through her. She stopped, bent over slightly, trying to breathe through it.

  “Are you alright?”

It was Jareth in her ear, speaking low and soft, his voice calm and soothing.

“I don’t know. That one was different and I…ow.”

  “Another one?”

  “Yes.”

“You know what that means, right?”

  “Now?”

“It doesn’t look like she’s is going to wait until after the party.”

Jareth motioned to Carter, who went pale for an instant before slipping out the dining room and down the hall.

“Come with me. We’ll meet him at the carport. Can you make it?”

  “I can.”

She hobbled along beside him, stopping to breathe with each contraction. They were coming fast, and the pain was almost too much. Jareth put his arm around Lydia, helping her move faster, his calm voice faltering a bit as he encouraged her to keep taking steps. They worked their way into the hall and headed towards the carport at the end of the wing.

Out of nowhere, Siva joined them, going to Lydia’s other side and helping her friend.

  “I can’t,” she breathed. “She’s coming now.”

Lydia turned, heading into the guest room that had once served as a recovery room for Jareth.

“No. She can’t come now. Lydia, come this way.”

  “There’s no time.”

Lydia all but shoved him out of the way, climbing onto the bed and breathing through another contraction. It was Jareth’s turn to pale.

Siva, ever calm and in control, shoved Jareth out the door.

“Call Doc and go get Carter. The baby is coming now.”

Jareth nodded, words failing him. He ran down the hall, pulling out his phone and dialing Doc’s number while simultaneously shouting for Carter.

“I guess those weren’t for practice after all,” Lydia joked and gritting her teeth when another contraction overwhelmed her.

“Don’t worry, Doc will be here soon. I’ve got this.”

  “You do?”

“No. But I watch a lot of those shows on television, where people have their babies at home. How hard can it be?”

  Siva smiled.

“Oh, you’re totally not kidding, are you?”

  “Nope. Let’s do this.”

She shut the door, closing them off from the rest of the house, the party across the hall oblivious to what was going on a few feet away.

Siva sat across from Lydia, coaching her through the motions and keeping her calm while they waited for Doc Bowyer. With any luck, he’d get there just in time and Siva wouldn’t have to back up her cocky statements with action.

  It wasn’t looking good, though.

It seemed like forever before a knock finally sounded on the door and Doc Bowyer rushed in, followed closely behind by Carter and Jareth.

“That was quick,” Siva said, relief washing over her.

“I was running late for the party, so I was already on my way here. Let’s see what we’ve got here.”

Doc was cheerful and calm, checking on Lydia’s progress and smiling at the two men.

“I hope you’re ready to have a baby, because here she comes.”

  ***

Lydia lay in the bed, tiny bundled wrapped in her arms and sleeping soundly. She was exhausted, but the joy outweighed the pain and the fatigue. She looked down at the sleeping child in her arms and all was right in the world.

Jareth and Carter had gone together to the party, announcing the baby’s arrival and passing their cellphones around to show off pictures of their beautiful daughter. Siva sat with Lydia, looking over her friend’s shoulder at the beautiful little girl in her arms.

“She’s perfect, Lydia. You did great.”

“You were amazing. I’m glad you were here.”

“I’m glad that Doc got her in time.”

  “I thought you had it?”

“I was just saying that so you didn’t panic. I would have taken care of you, but I really didn’t want to. I liked sitting beside you better.”

“Trust me. There were a few moments where I would have gladly traded places.”

The baby stirred, blue eyes blinking slowly and then looking a
t Lydia. She stared at Lydia for a brief moment before falling asleep once more.

“It looks like being born was as hard for her as I was for you.”

  “I doubt that.”

“You never told me what you were naming her.”

“I didn’t, did I?” Lydia smiled down at the baby, overwhelmed with love for the tiny newborn in her arms. “We named her Lily. After my mother.”

  “What a perfect name.”

Lydia smiled, looking down on Lily’s sweet face. Siva was right.

  It was the perfect name.
