Stasis (Part 2): Iterate

Page 21

by E. W. Osborne

Hüzün (Turkish): The gloomy feeling that things are in decline and that the situation - often political in nature - will probably get gradually worse. Despite the darkness, there’s a joy in having the word to hand, sparing us from a personal sense of persecution and reminding us that our misfortunes are largely collective in nature.

As Kristine points out, it’s human nature to adapt. Many times throughout history we’ve allowed horrible things to continue far longer than they should’ve. Slow to act. Resistant to believe.

Part 2: Iterate is their last chance to stop the looming apocalypse.

Also, you may have noticed two characters from the first part are missing. Randall, the prophet (profit??) and Arienne, the exchange student. I haven’t forgotten them, nor have they dropped off the face of the planet. As I introduced Julian and Alex to the main plot line, I realized there were simply too many moving pieces. Randall and Arienne will get their own novellas that stretch across Part 2 and 3. It’s not that they aren’t important… just not vital right this very second ;)
