I cleared my throat and took a deep breath to steady my voice.

“Yes, Laura. I’m definitely interested. I’m so excited. I feel like this is the opportunity I have been waiting for all of my life.” I smiled through my tears.

“Yes, the moment I heard about it, I knew you were the perfect fit. I was not surprised at all when the producers chose you. Let’s set up a time to meet. Your wedding is coming up soon, isn’t it?”

“Yes! It’s the day after tomorrow. We fly out tomorrow afternoon.” I beamed.

“Congratulations,” Laura gushed. “When do you get back from the wedding, and when do you leave for your honeymoon?”

“Christoff has some appearances to make with the band, so we’ll be back in L.A. next week. And we won’t be leaving for our honeymoon for another couple of weeks.”

“Perfect! How about we meet next Thursday at 10 a.m.?”

“Yes, I will be there! Thank you so much, Laura. You are a phenomenal agent!”

“Aww, thanks Giavanna. It means so much when people appreciate the work that I do for them. Many of my clients take it for granted. Thank you for acknowledging me. It means more than you know.”

  “Anytime.”

“All right, enjoy your wedding! I want to see pictures.”

“Of course, Laura! Enjoy the rest of your evening.”

  “You do the same. Bye.”

  “Bye.”

As soon as I hung up the phone, I began jumping up and down and screaming uncontrollably. I was so excited that I didn’t even realize that Christoff had been standing in the doorway watching me. I had no idea how long he had been standing there. I immediately flushed red with embarrassment when I caught his reflection in the mirror and turned around to see him laughing at me.

“What? Did we just win a multibillion-dollar jackpot in the lottery or something?” Christoff continued laughing.

  “No, even better!”

  “Really? Spill it!”

“I’m going to have my own entertainment news show. And get this, it’s not just covering the American pop culture—it’s international. This is a dream come true!”

“Holy shit! Wow, Gia! I’m really proud of you. I always knew it was only a matter of time before you got what you wanted. You’re going to be amazing!” Christoff scooped me into his arms and lifted me off the ground. I wrapped my legs around him and brought my lips to his. His kiss felt like heaven.

“I love you, baby! I couldn’t have done it without your support.”

“I’ll always be here for you, Gia, but you don’t need me. You’re so strong, everything you need is within you.”

“Awww, Christoff, you’re so sweet. You’re right, I don’t need you, but I want you so badly. I want you in my life more than anything in this world, and I’m so happy to have you.”

“Same, Gia. No one on this planet can satisfy and fulfill me the way you do. Thank you for allowing me the privilege of loving you, and thank you for loving me in return. I don’t know how I got so lucky or why you put up with me, but I feel incredibly blessed to have you for the rest of my life.”

“I have no idea why you put up with me. But everything I’ve gone through to get to this moment right here with you was so worth it. What we have was more than worth the fight, Christoff.”

“I couldn’t have said it better. I can’t wait to start forever with you.”

“Today is the first day of the rest of our lives. Let’s live it up!”

“I love your spirit, Gia.” Christoff dipped me low while my legs were still wrapped around his waist and my sandy brown locks brushed the floor. I squealed with delight as he grabbed a handful of my hair and tugged at the roots as he kissed me deeply and passionately. Exhilaration pulsed through my entire body. I was completely enraptured by him. He was the first and only man that taught me how to be loved in the way that I deserved. They say that dawn always comes after the darkest hour. I never really thought much of the metaphor until now. My heart overflowed with joy as I realized that it was time for me to step into the light and leave all of the darkness from the past behind me. I had waited for this moment for my entire life, and it was finally here. At last dawn had come. And the best part about it was I knew this was just the beginning.
