Brick: An Urban Paranormal Page 11

“I’ll have your wings pulled from your back,” my father said to me. I doubled over in laughter because he knew my wings were like metal.

“Do you hear this fool, beautiful? He said he’s going to cut off my wings,” I continued to laugh.

“Ummm, honey I don't think that's a joking matter,” Nabila said.

“Yeah it is because they don’t come off,” I replied. My father stormed out of my domain when Nabila began to crack up too.

“The level of rudeness. That would've been an ass whipping on my planet,” Nabila said.

“They can’t whip me. They need me before I need them,” I replied.

Eagle brought Nabila a silk, white wrap dress for the feast. Nabila didn't like the dress. She called it “old fashioned.”

“Ugh, the women here must be dying from fashion. I guess dressing like a ghost is okay for now,” she complained, and Eagle chuckled.

“Is there any more like her?” Eagle asked.

He leaned against the doorway with his arms crossed amused by, Nabila. I had to admit she was a quite a character.

"The other one is like a water serpent,” I said talking about, Risha.

“Are you talking about, Risha?” Nabila asked.

“What other friends do you have beautiful?” I asked. She gave me the finger and Eagle chuckled.

“Finally someone to put you in line, soldier,” Eagle said to me.

“She tries to until I have her begging for mercy,” I replied.

“Are you discussing our sex life?” Nabila asked me with her hands on her hips.

“Everyone in this kingdom knows what I did to you because you are glowing,” I replied.

"Get out while I get dressed,” she replied.

Eagle and I exited from my domain. I slid the door shut behind me to give Nabila her privacy.

“This plan of yours might spiral out of control,” Eagle said to me.

“I don't care if it does. If it doesn't work then it doesn't work. We may have to kill the king and his men,” I replied.

“I’m not talking about that. I’m talking about the human. You were supposed to use her for a way out, but your eyes glow when you look at her. All I’m saying is be careful before you end up the same way you did after Casha’s wedding. You didn't smile or laugh for years,” Eagle replied.

Eagle was always a positive thinker, but at times he was too positive. I wanted him to see that it was a better world outside of our world, but he refused to. We had different visions, but he was still my brother.

“I will never open my heart again. Love is bullshit, and you know it. My love is for freedom, and that's it,” I said.

“Don't say I didn't warn you, but I might have to visit Earth myself,” he replied.

My eyes lit up when Nabila came out of my domain. The dress wrapped around curves that I didn’t know she had. The marking on her neck glowed highlighting her beautiful face. The gold, feather shaped clasp around her neck looked familiar.

"A bird appeared out of nowhere, and turned into this thing around my neck. I’m starting to like my feathered buddies. How do I look?” she asked. She turned around and showed off her ample backside. The soldier’s thoughts angered me as they stared at her.

“WOW!” Eagle said because of the way her ass jiggled, and a sweet ass it was. My wing covered Nabila’s lower-half.

“HATER!” she yelled out to me.

“I had to stretch,” I lied.

“Do any of y’all muthafucka’s need something?” I asked the soldiers. They walked away mumbling underneath their breaths, and threatened me in their thoughts.

“Do you ever wear panties?” I asked Nabila after Eagle went into his domain.

“Sometimes I like the extra jiggle. Awwww, my big giant is jealous,” she cooed.

“I’m going to drop you out of the sky, so you can crash on your planet like a meteorite,” I said.

"I’m going to remember that the next time you are hungry,” she replied. I picked her up, and tossed her over my shoulder. She fell onto my wing, and I bounced her back-and-forth.

“I’m dizzy! Cut it out, punk!” she laughed.

“Apologize for showing off,” I said.

“No!” she yelled. She wrapped her arms around my neck, and playfully bit my ear. My hardness pressed against the wrap around my waist, and a groan escaped my lips.

  “Damn it,” I said.

“I finally found your soft spot,” she said.

“Which made a spot on me hard—very hard,” I said and she blushed.

  "Put me down,” she said.

The angels stared at her as we walked down the hall to the feast room. They were hypnotized by the glow that highlighted her body. I pushed opened the stone double-doors, and the king sat at the end of the table. Casha, and her husband Irin sat side-by-side.

Casha stormed out of the feast room, and her husband ran after her. Jonelius walked over to Nabila and circled around her.

“I must say she’s very stunning. She’s glowing, but I need to speak with you in private,” Jonelius said. Eagle escorted Nabila to the feast table. The table was built into the cement floor, and it held over a hundred chairs. I followed Joneilus into a nearby corner.

“You will have to be general until you train another solider to take your place. You are still considered a young solider, so therefore your request to be free has to be declined,” he said.

“There isn't an age limit!” I yelled at him.

  “It is now,” he replied.

“What are you going to do if I don't?” I asked.

“You must've forgotten that you monsters need the water. That's what separates us from all of you. We can survive on this planet without it, but you all can’t. It’s just a great source to have which makes us a better planet amongst the rest,” Jonelius said.

  “This is bullshit,” I said.

“Your mate is remarkable. How about I call a truce. You can leave here with a few of your soldiers, and never return,” he said.

“What’s the catch?” I asked. His eyes fell upon Nabila.

“The girl must stay. She is more special than what you think. She can open the gates to many worlds,” Jonelius said.

“You can’t have her,” I said.

“You don’t care for her. You used her for your own selfish reasons. I guess me, and you have a lot in common. Sacrifices are always the key to get what you want. Take your soldiers, and leave my planet. The girl stays,” he said.

  “She’s mine,” I gritted.

“Take the girl to the tower!” Jonelius told the soldiers. I grabbed him around his neck, and tossed him across the room. I banged my fist against the wall, and pieces of the kingdom collapsed. The floor separated as the kingdom shook.

  “GET HIM!” Jonelius shouted.

He wanted the soldiers to attack me, and I stood my ground. A metal plated shield covered my body. I was ready to defeat the whole kingdom if I had to in order to protect Nabila. I placed Nabila behind behind my wing, and she held on to my hair.

“I will kill every last one of you if I have to,” I said. The angels ran out of the room, and Jonelius ordered the soldiers to attack me.

  “He’s our brother,” Eagle said.

“I’m your king! Get him!” Jonelius replied.

“We stick to our kind is what we’ve been taught. You keep your own kind safe, and we will do the same for ours. Brick is one of us and we will not attack him,” Eagle said.

“Get out of my kingdom! All of you out!” Jonelius said.

Rudan picked his side when he stood next to Jonelius.

“This means war!” Rudan shouted, and Jonelius smiled.

“You all are an enemy to this planet. Where else can you get the water from? You will be back for the water, and when you do come back, all of you are dead!” Jonelius said. I wanted to rip all of them apart, but I promised Nabila I was going to keep her safe. Odega, and Eagle followed me out of the kingdom. The rest of the soldiers stayed back bec
ause of Jonelius’s water threat. That was his way of keeping them from leaving the planet. Soldiers I fought with turned into my enemy.

“DAMN IT!” Eagle shouted as he paced back-and-forth inside the forest.

“I will fix it,” I said.

“I rather die than last another minute inside of that jail,” Odega said.

“I have been taking water from this planet for the last few weeks, and storing it on Earth. I have some water in my basement, but I don’t know how long it will last for all us,” I said.

“We gotta take what belongs to us back. That water can give life to another planet, and we can make a new home for our kind,” Eagle said.

“What about the gargoyles from the other planets? Do you think they would accept us?” Odega asked.

“We killed them, so the planets are deserted. Their planets died because the water ran out,” Eagle said.

“We have killed our own kind, but it was to protect the water. It was either us or them. Jonelius has turned many planets against us for his own reasons, and now we are paying the price,” I said.

“It’s one planet left. Jonelius was preparing us to go to war against them. We probably can get them on our side,” Eagle said.

“That won’t work. Our planet has done enough damage. I couldn’t blame them if they don’t side with us,” I replied.

“Why are you doing this?” Casha interrupted us.

“Oh, great! The king and his minions will know what we talked about,” Odega said.

“What are you doing here? Go back!” I yelled at her.

“We made a deal. I’m going with you, Midas! I don't want to be apart of this anymore,” she said.

“That won’t be a good idea,” Eagle said.

“I know what Jonelius have planned. I can be a big help. Please, just take me with you,” she begged. She wrapped her arms around my waist, and Nabila cleared her throat.

“Who in the hell are you supposed to be?” Nabila asked Casha.

“Not now,” I said to Nabila.

“Shut the hell up. You told her you was going to take her with you? After all the shit you put me through, and you had someone the whole time? I let you screw me for two whole days, but you already made plans with her!” Nabila yelled at me. She slid off my back, and crossed her arms.

“You didn't tell her?” Casha asked me.

“Do you know how to keep your mouth shut? We are in the middle of a war! I don't want to hear shit,” I replied.

“He’s talking to you, falcon. I don't shut up for nobody!” Nabila yelled. I sat on the rock, and listened to Nabila yell at me while using profanity. Casha didn't know half of what she was saying. Odega, and Eagle was amused by Nabila’s rants.

“Are you finished?” I asked Nabila.

“No! Take me home, so I can be around human men. This is a fucking nightmare. I’m stuck in the woods with goddamn avatars,” she said.

“Midas and I have been in love since before you were created. He used your body for an escape, but I will always be here! You are free now, Midas. You don't need it anymore. Take the nagging human back to her planet,” Casha said.

“You can come too, so I can pluck your feathers off, and drop you into a pot of hot grease,” Nabila replied.

“We need to leave before they find us. Nabila might get hurt if the three of us fight against Jonelius’s soldiers,” I said. Odega and Eagle agreed. I reached out to Nabila, and she pulled away from me. She looked disappointed in me. Eagle was right about my plan. I bit off more than I could chew. We could've easily walked away, but I couldn’t give Nabila up although I used her for myself.

  Casha

M y blood boiled as I listened to Brick and his human yell at each other. I went against my kind and my mate to finally be with him. I should've joined him when he asked me to, but it was too late. I had to marry Irin because my brother wanted me to. I loved my mate, but Brick’s love was different. He was a protector, and a healer. I knew he didn't love me anymore, but a human didn't belong in his world. I saw the glow he had in his eyes for her.

He cares about her, I thought.

“Calm down before you work yourself up,” Brick said to her.

“I need to talk to you in private, Midas,” I said. He huffed before he stood up, and walked to a nearby tree.

  “What is it?” he asked.

“We had a deal,” I said.

“I don't recall that deal. You did all the talking, and I said nothing. I thought silence meant something, but obviously it doesn't to you,” he said.

“You entered my body a few days ago!” I yelled at him.

“The human is going to rip Brick’s wings off,” Odega whispered to Eagle.

“Can you argue with your girlfriend later? I need to get home,” Nabila said.

  “Okay,” Brick said.

He picked her up, and placed her inside his wing. He treated her like a flower. He was soft and caring towards her. I haven't seen that side of Brick in years. I felt stabbed in the back because he promised to love me forever.

“You have to fly with Eagle. Your wings are not strong enough to travel to Earth,” Brick said to me. Eagle placed me on his back, and we took off towards the sky. Brick left a streak of lightning in the sky to guide us to Earth.

  ***********

“This is a weird place, but I like it,” I said as I looked around Brick’s domain. It was way smaller than our kingdom, but it was enough room for all of us.

“Better than the prison we lived in,” Eagle said.

“She knows nothing about that because she stayed at the top,” Odega replied.

“I don’t mix business with pests,” I replied.

The only one of their kind I cared about was, Brick. The rest of them could turn to stone for all I cared. Most of them looked like monsters.

“We are not on your planet anymore. I’m minding my business if he attacks you. Do not piss off a gargoyle,” Eagle warned me.

I walked up the spiral stairs until I reached the top floor. I knew it was Brick’s space. He was always at the highest level of things. He said he could see things coming better that way. His big resting spot was fit for his size. I brushed my hands across the fabric he had on his resting post. I climbed on top of his resting post, and it was soft as a baby bird. My body melted into the cloth. I looked up at the ceiling and watched the stars through the roof. It brought back memories of countless nights we spent in the forest when we were younger. I untied my silk dress and took it off. I heard water leaking from somewhere, and I followed the sound. I found a room with a waterfall which reminded me of a place we made love underneath. I played around with two silver knobs until the water came on. I threw my head back and welcomed the familiar feeling. Brick’s domain was like our forest. He must’ve thought about me when he created it. We made love hundreds of times underneath a waterfall. I heard heavy footsteps, and I knew it was him. He stood in the doorway of the wash room with a scowl on his face.

“Come and join me,” I said.

“Who told you to come up here? Step out of my shower, and use the one downstairs. This part of the house is off limits,” he said.

“Is it because the human share space with you? I can smell her scent on your resting post,” I said. He threw something at me, and it landed by my foot.

“Dry off and get out,” he said.

“Nobody is here to catch us. We can finally do whatever we want,” I replied. I knew he still cared for me, but I wanted more. I wanted him to love me all over again.

I walked over to him, and wrapped my arms around his neck. Someone cleared their throat from behind us, and Brick stepped away from me. His human pet stared at us, and I smiled at her. I wasn't ashamed to stand before her naked. I wanted her to see that I was a goddess. I wanted her to catch a glimpse of my wings, so that she could understand how much different she was from us. She grabbed a bag from off the floor, and stormed out the room.

“Let her go. We don’t need her anymore,” I said,
but he said nothing. He pulled away from me, and walked over to the window. I stood behind him, and looked out the window. Nabila got inside of a big object, and it sailed off. I rubbed his back, and his shoulders tensed underneath my touch.
