Brick: An Urban Paranormal Page 20

by Natavia

“Brick can adapt to his surroundings. The others can with time, but Brick’s mind is like a magnet and pulls everything in. A great protector has to become superior over those who surround him,” I said.

“That’s some freaky, but fascinating shit. So, he can rob a bank, and split the money with me? My rent is about to be due,” Risha joked. She left out of the kitchen to find Odega, and I turned on the TV that hung from the ceiling. I flipped through the channels until I came to the National Geographic history channel. I bit into my sandwich as I watched the narrator give a tour around an ancient museum in, Scotland. I almost changed the channel, but something caught my attention. The camera turned to a statue that was twelve-feet tall, and it had wings, but the narrator was talking about a mummy. I rushed to the computer inside of Brick’s workshop, and typed in the museum. The website site came up, and I went to the search bar. I typed in winged statues, and it was the first one that came up on the site:

The ancient and unknown statue was found in Antarctica in 1905 by a scientist. Three years later, the statue was stolen from the museum without a trace…

“This is bullshit! I know it has to be more info about this,” I said out loud. I searched everywhere on the internet, and found nothing. I slammed the laptop down in anger because the article was bogus. The episode I watched on TV was an old one. I left out of the room to search for Risha. I pushed open the bathroom door in the hallway, and my water almost broke. Risha was hanging from the shower rod with her legs wrapped around Odega’s neck. He groaned and moaned as he ate her out. I rushed down the hall, and outside to get some fresh air.

Who could steal a statue that size, and it goes unnoticed? I thought. I had a feeling the problem was deeper than what we thought.

  A few hours later…

I left Brick’s house because Risha and Odega couldn’t keep quiet. I went to my apartment to check my mail, and to get a change of clothes. I stuck my key into my door, but it was ajar. I pushed my door opened, and my apartment was turned upside down. I couldn’t understand why someone would break into my apartment. I went inside of my bedroom, and it was horrible. My mattress was ripped apart, my clothes were everywhere, and my TV was on the floor. I grabbed all my newest things to pack them in duffel bags. Everything was falling apart, and I only found solace when Brick was around. I heard glass breaking in the kitchen. My body tried to change, but I wouldn’t let it. I didn’t know who was in my home, and couldn’t risk showing someone Brick’s world. I grabbed a bat from my bedroom closet, and slowly walked down the hall. I peeked around the corner, and didn’t see anyone. I turned around, but something struck me in the back. I fell against the wall, and passed out…

My eyes fluttered as I opened them. The light in the ceiling shined in my face. I tried to cover my eyes, but my hands were tied to a gurney.

“Nice to see you awake,” a voice said.

“Who is there?” I asked. Footsteps came closer to me, and it was Dr. James.

“Why am I here?” I asked.

“I have been searching for an answer for years, and I found the cure. You are here because there is something I want,” he replied. He lifted my shirt to reveal my pregnant stomach. I was kidnapped by a lunatic.

“What are you talking about?” I replied. He pressed a button on the wall, and the gurney stood up so I could face him. I studied my surroundings, and I was inside of a homemade lab.

“The creatures above the stars. The gods and goddesses who live amongst us. You have the same blood as him,” Dr. James pointed. I looked in the direction he pointed, and it was Brick’s father. He had wires going through his body, and a metal helmet on his head. They were treating him like an animal.

“You have human, and alien DNA. I was impressed when I looked at your lab results. The aliens can breed with humans. This is the beauty of science. We can create a new mankind because your blood can make humans live for eternity. I read over your incident papers again after I discharged you from the hospital. You were brought in because of back wounds. You didn’t have any when I examined you. Your blood healed you,” he replied.

“He’s not an alien. Why are you doing this? This is sick,” I said.

“Do you know him?” Dr. James asked me.

“No, I don’t know him, but he looks like a man to me,” I replied.

“You do know him. I saw it in your eyes when you looked at him. I’ll let you go if you tell me what I need to know about their planet. I can also dissect that cute little tummy of yours to get the answers I want,” he replied. I would’ve left the hospital before I was examined if I knew I was pregnant. Dr. James got my address from my medical records.

“What is that on his head? It’s making him twitch,” I said.

“He’s trying to connect to his world, but the radiation is throwing off his signal,” he replied.

  “Radiation?” I asked.

“His ability to read your mind, and see your future decreases with a lot of radiation. It’s giving him a shortage is what it means,” he replied.

The peots aren’t poisonous. Their body is filled with radiation which makes the gargoyles separate from each other instead of connecting, I thought.

“Can you turn the radiation off because I’m with child,” I said.

“He might signal the others to come here. I’m a scientist, Nabila. You can’t fool me. Now, let's chat,” he said. My body twitched, and my wings wanted to be free, but I wouldn’t allow it. Brick’s kind has been through enough, and I didn’t want humans tracking them down like animals. Tears threatened to fall, but I held it in because I didn’t know what to do. My baby was a part of their world too. I didn’t want to her to become a lab rat.

“I will rather die than tell you anything. Fuck you!” I yelled. The door slid opened, and Rod walked in eating a sandwich. I remembered when he told me he worked at a lab, but I didn’t think much of it. Rod never appeared to be that smart to me.

“You were the one in my home?” I asked Rod, and he smirked.

“Good evening beautiful. I see you’ve met my grandfather,” Rod replied. I never met Rod’s family, and that should’ve been a red flag a few years ago.

“You must be doing the flunky work because you were never smart,” I spat. I wanted to ask them how they manage to steal Neoth’s statue, but I remembered I wasn’t supposed to know.

“How is your hand, punk? Little sissy bitch!” I screamed at Rod.

“Fuck you retard. You are the one who is fucking a monster, and carrying his child,” Rod yelled back. My eyes betrayed me when they changed. Rod jumped back, and fell into a table. Dr. James tried to take my ring off, but he cut his finger. He howled in pain as blood dripped on the floor.

“She’s one of them!” Rod said.

“I need more. The light from the ring changed her eyes,” Dr. James said. I smirked at Rod, and blew him a kiss. Rod hurriedly left out of the room. Dr. James lifted my shirt, and the glow was gone.

She’s connecting with me. She knows we are in danger, I thought. He placed a cold gel over my stomach before he rolled a weird device over my stomach. It wasn’t the normal sonogram device. Maybe it was some type of alien detector.

“This can’t be! This is a normal twenty-four weeks’ pregnancy, but your stomach was flat a few days ago,” he replied.

“You studied everything else except for pregnancy I see. I’m bloated from eating a bunch of tacos,” I replied. He stuck a needle in my arm to draw blood.

“My great-grandfather told me about the world above. He was a scientist too, and he was in Antarctica when the creature fell out of the sky. The creature's body immediately turned to ice and became a statue. They thought my great-grandfather was crazy so they ignored him. Many scientists spent years trying to figure out where the alien came from but couldn’t find an answer. Years later, he was placed inside of a museum. Listen to this,” he said. He picked up a metal round plate with a lot of buttons on it. He placed the plate over Neoth’s body, and it went off like an alarm clock.

/>   “I have a few of these devices planted all over. A few years ago, one went off inside of the woods, and it took a picture of the creature. The creature looked exactly like this one. Same symbols, and structure. I knew they were connected after going over my great-grandfather’s notes. I wanted to finish what he started, so I turned off the security system inside of the museum, and pulled the statue out with an eighteen-wheeler. I had a few friends who helped me cover it up. The alien was brought here on one of my golf buddies plane. It’s all about who you know,” he bragged.

It’s official. All creeps play golf, I thought.

“So, you are telling me that you turned a fucking statue into a human man? Wow, I’m impressed, but what in the hell does that have to do with me?” I replied.

“You have a few markings on your back. You have some of their DNA. I want to know where is the one who I took a picture of a few years ago. He’s the alien’s offspring. Their wings and markings are identical. There is not one flaw in their identical symbols. Did the offspring come to Earth to look for his father? The alien mumbles sometimes, and he always speak about his son, Midas,” he replied.

“Okay, old man. You want to be the first one to discover aliens. I’m very proud of you, but you are insane. That is a man you have on that gurney, and I hope your ass gets locked up for kidnapping, theft, attempted murder and having illegal equipment,” I fussed.

“I injected tons of warm water into the pores of his statue. The moisture caused him to unfreeze from the inside. A few days later, the statue melted into a human form,” Dr. James replied. I breathed a sign of relief when his phone rang from upstairs. Dr. James cursed as he left out of the room.

  “Neoth!” I said.

The tubes that ran in and out of his body kept him drugged. A bird appeared on his gurney, and pecked at his helmet. It pecked until the helmet fell off. I used my strength to break from the gurney. I pulled all the cords out of the outlets in the room, and it went dark.

Thank God, I have night vision, I thought. I snatched all the wires and tubes out of Neoth’s body, and helped him up. I thought my back was going to break. Neoth was pure muscle, and no body fat. I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. I sang the song Urane used to sing to him. Neoth was weak, and drugged. He mumbled something, but I couldn’t understand. The footsteps got closer, and I panicked.

“I can sense an escape underneath the floor,” he whispered.

I searched the floor until I found a lever. I grabbed his body and pushed him down the hole. I flew down behind him, and pulled the door on the floor shut. My stomach began to pain me, but I had to remain focused.

“Where are they? It’s dark! I told you to put cameras down here!” Rod yelled at his grandfather.

“So, someone can hack into my system and see the footage of me housing an alien?” Dr. James asked him. We were inside of a small tunnel underneath the house. I saw a light at the end of the tunnel and helped Neoth up.

  “Who are you?” he whispered.

  “Nabila,” I said.

“What name is that? What planet are you from?” he asked.

“I’ll tell you later, but you have to help me. I’m with child, and I can’t carry you,” I replied. Birds circled us, and lifted us off the ground. Urane’s spirit was working through me. The tunnel led to a swamp area in the middle of the woods. Neoth collapsed on the ground when the birds disappeared.

“Where is my wife?” he asked. A blue and white bird flew over his head, and landed in front of him. The bird turned into Urane. She kneeled in front of Neoth, and he smiled at her. Being frozen stopped him from aging because he looked only a few years older than Brick.

“You are finally free,” Urane said.

  “Take me home,” Neoth mumbled.

“I’m not alive, Neoth. I died after you and Midas were taken away from me. I couldn’t live anymore. I want you to get your strength back. Our son is at war with Vada, and it’s too many of them. I have been searching for you, but the Gods didn’t want me to interfere. Your father wanted you to find your own way,” Urane replied.

“Midas is alive?” he asked with tears falling out of his eyes. Dr. James thought their kind were just creatures, but they felt love and pain the same as humans did. Urane helped him stand up, and he stood up straight. She placed a medallion around his neck.

“I shouldn’t be giving you this, but this is from the Gods. They didn’t want you to have until you found yourself again, but you need it. My soul needs to rest now, Neoth. I’m counting on you to do right this time around. I will be watching from the stars above,” Urane said. She kissed his lips before she disappeared. Neoth stretched out his wings, and the medallion melted into his chest; it turned into a tattoo. He stood up tall, and cracked his back into place. I looked up at him, and he held his hand out to me.

“Climb on and direct me,” Neoth said to me.

I climbed on his wide back, and he leaped into the sky. Dr. James and Rod yelled out to us as they climbed out of the tunnel. Neoth circled around them like a vulture in the sky. A bolt of lightning came out of his wing and struck them in their chest, and it killed them instantly. Neoth struck their house with lightning until it went up in flames, and blew up.

  **********

A few trees fell over when Neoth landed in front of Brick’s home. The house shook a little, but I didn’t expect anything less. His father’s combat form was the same as Brick’s. Dr. James was right, their bodies were identical. Neoth was naked when he shrunk to his human form.

Odega and Risha rushed to the front door, “I have been worried sick about you! Where in the hell did you go? Who is this?” Risha asked me.

“I’m King Neoth, and I’m here to see my offspring. Bring him to me,” Neoth demanded. I flew to Brick’s room, to get Neoth something to wear. He was choking Odega when I came back downstairs.

“You let my son go to war? You are supposed to be in war with him!” Neoth’s deep voice roared.

“I know you better get your fine ass off of him!” Risha yelled with a broom in her hand. Risha hit Neoth with a broom, and it broke into small pieces.

“He ordered me to protect his soul mate,” Odega strained out. Neoth pulled away from Odega, and looked around the house.

“What planet is this?” Neoth asked.

  “Earth,” I replied.

“I can’t remember how I got here. Is my clan still alive?” he asked.

“Most of them are soldiers of Vada,” I replied. I gave him shorts and a shirt to put on. He held them in his hand not knowing what to do with them. Odega showed him what to do, and he got dressed with his clothes on backward.

“Ummm, that’s better,” I replied. Neoth walked around Brick’s home touching, and sniffing things.

“Is that really Brick’s daddy? He is young,” Risha whispered.

“He was in a statue state for many years, and it slowed down his age, although they age slowly anyway,” I replied. Neoth touched the TV, and the noise from it angered him. He smashed the TV into the wall, and Odega got pissed off.

“You broke the TV? I can’t watch videos anymore? This is some bullshit,” Odega said.

“Are you talking to me? One more word out of your mouth, and I’ll break your wings out of your back,” Neoth replied.

“Brick’s father bugging,” Odega mumbled. I went into the basement to get water from a fountain. The water was from Brick’s planet. I filled the tall pail up to the top, and took it upstairs to Neoth. He thanked me after he drank the water in one gulp.

  “Refreshing,” he said.

He was still a little dazed from the drugs Dr. James gave him. It was enough to kill an elephant. I was certain the drugs were not for humans. My biggest fear was more humans knowing about their kind. No one should be treated that way, not even animals. My stomach cramped, so I sat down on the stairs. Risha rushed to me when I doubled over in pain.

“I’m going to die,” I said.

“Stop talking like that! You might need some re
st. You have been moving around a lot. Brick didn’t want you to leave the house,” Risha said.

“I was being hard headed, but I’m glad I was because I wouldn’t had found his father. Fate works in mysterious ways,” I replied. The baby inside of me was draining me. Maybe she needed more nutrients from my body than a average baby. Neoth kneeled in front of me, and lifted my shirt. He placed his hand over my stomach, and my daughter communicated with him.

“Your planet isn’t giving her enough nutrients. You must inhale the air on my planet to make her healthy or you both will die here. Midas made Urane very weak, and your offspring will do the same,” Neoth said. The pain was unbearable, and death seemed more welcoming. Neoth picked me up, and Odega followed us out of the house.
