by Andria Large
The stillness that comes over Gunnar is a sight to be seen. Bowen might be the one jizzing in his pants at the sight of his boyfriend with a gun. The anticipation grows in Bowen as he waits with bated breath for Gunnar to pull the trigger.
A loud boom reverberates in his chest, and Gunnar lifts his head from the scope. A slow smile curls his full mouth.
“Wanna see where I hit?” he asks.
Bowen nods. Gunnar unloads the weapon and sets the magazine aside. He then gets up from the stool to let Bowen move in. Bowen sits and brings the rifle up so that he can look through the scope.
It takes him a minute to find the target, but when he does, he’s shocked by what he sees. Gunnar put a bullet inside the heart. But it’s what else is inside the heart that has Bowen staring. Inside the heart it says, “Will You Marry Me?” with the bullet hole right above the ‘i’ as the dot.
Bowen gently sets the gun down before whipping around to find Gunnar behind him on one knee holding open a ring box. Bowen gasps and tears immediately well in his eyes.
“Gunnar?”
Bowen can see the emotion in Gunnar’s eyes and he has to clear his throat before speaking. “Babe, I know this isn’t the most romantic proposal ever, but you know I’m not the most romantic person. I love you more than anything, and I can’t imagine my life without you. You’ve helped me find myself again, and I want to make you my husband. Will you marry me?”
Bowen launches himself off the little stool and into Gunnar’s arms. He wraps his arms tightly around Gunnar’s neck as they both go crashing to the ground. Gunnar lets out an ‘oomph’ as he takes Bowen’s weight on top of him. Bowen kisses him all over his face before planting one on his lips.
“Is this a yes?” Gunnar asks, his words garbled because Bowen’s lips are smashed against his.
“Yes! Yes! Yes!” Bowen chants between kisses.
Gunnar chuckles low and cups the back of Bowen’s head so he can kiss him deeper. Their tongues twine together in a passionate kiss. Gunnar ends it with a couple light pecks before gently extracting Bowen from him so that they can sit up.
Gunnar takes the ring out of the box and holds out his hand. Bowen smiles brightly and extends his left hand. Gunnar slips the simple gold band on Bowen’s ring finger. Bowen stares down at it.
“It’s nothing fancy—“ Gunnar starts.
“I love it,” Bowen says, cutting him off. “I don’t need fancy, Gunnar. I just need you.”
“I love you so much, Bowen.”
“I love you, too, Gunnar.”
They hug and kiss some more before getting to their feet.
“How about we do some more shooting then we can tell your brother.” Gunnar grins.
“Sounds like a plan to me.” Bowen smiles in return.
He was wrong; his life could get better, and it just did.
The End.

Acknowledgements
I want to take a moment to thank some people who have been a constant throughout my writing career:
My editor, Megan, who I'd be lost without. Not only does she make sure my grammar, punctuation, and spelling are correct, but she's also the person I bounce ideas off of, the one who helps me work out a tough scene, and my "Well, what if you do this instead," person. Without her, my stories would probably be crap.
My hubby, Eric, who gives me nothing but support and encouragement. I can't even begin to express how lucky and grateful I am to have such an understanding husband. He is always there for me when I need him. I definitely could not do what I do without having him back me. He is also good at promoting me! He carries around my business cards and hands them out to whoever is interested. That's love, people!
My beta readers! You know who you are! They give me the constructive criticism I need to make my stories better, to help them flow, to fix things in the plot that I might have missed. I trust them to give it to me straight up and they always come through for me.
To my super awesome friend, Mikey Lee, who helped push me and kept me going while writing this story. Thanks for helping me flesh out some details that could only come from someone with knowledge of the military. And thanks for sharing your personal stories with me; they helped give me so much insight. I also appreciate everything you do for me.

You! Yes, you! Without you, I would not be here. I can't thank you all enough for believing in me and loving my stories. There is no way I can begin to tell you how much it means to me to have so many of you return for every new story. I'm humbled by it all. I love you to pieces!
About the Author
Andria Large is a traditionally published and self-published contemporary romance author. She doesn’t always follow the rules, so you will find both M/F and M/M books mixed into some of her series.
Henry from the Beck Brothers Series was the first book she self-published. Not expecting anything to really come of it, she was shocked to find the book caught wind and readers were asking for more. Writing books was not something she had set out to do. She wrote stories for herself, as a hobby. Now that it has become her career, she wouldn’t have it any other way.
Andria grew up in Philadelphia, but now lives in New Jersey with her two daughters and wonderfully supportive husband, who frequently accompanies her at signings. The events that she attends every year are one of her favorite things about being an author. She loves meeting and conversing with her readers, but also enjoys finding new ones.
Andria considers herself open and friendly, so feel free to send her a message if you have a question or just want to chat.
