“Thanks,” Abby started, “by the way, for—”
“You’re welcome. And thank you—for everything you’ve done for us.”
Abby released him and ran her hand through her hair, feeling self-conscious. She turned away from him. “Well …” But she couldn’t think of anything to say.
Arthur came to the rescue, breaking the awkward moment. “Your gas mask is cracked, Abster. I’m amazed you’re still a vampire.” He flicked his gaze between Abby and Sharon. “Let’s have our reunion outside, shall we?”
Abby nodded.
“Make sure you’re human the next time we see you, Vampire Scientist,” Nina warned.
Arthur scoffed. “Let her recover first.” He then slung Abby’s arm over his shoulder and helped her hobble out.
Just before they left the cave, the little hunter said, “I’m glad you found your sister, Abby.”
She strained her neck to look at him, taking in his skinny form and still bleeding hand. “I hope you get better soon, Tay-Tay,” she said.
His breathing became laboured and he inclined his head. Arthur and Sharon assisted Abby out of the den and into the sunlight.

Safely away from the cure, Abby took off her gas mask. Arthur gave her some of his blood and then Abby gave hers to Sharon, whose injuries and burns healed quickly.
And it struck Abby again that she’d done it. Her sister was human once more. She was cured!
Abby took Sharon’s face in her hands. They were both crying.
“I thought I killed you,” whispered Sharon.
Abby shook her head. “No. You taught me that blood rages can be broken.”
“How are you even alive?”
Abby explained.
“I abandoned you.” Sharon’s voice trembled.
“No. I abandoned you at the beach. It’s so good to hear your heart beating.”
“Come on, you two. I’d like to get out of here,” said Arthur. “Abby, which way is civilisation?”
CHAPTER 38
When Abby got back to their family house, she had to do some quick compulsion on her parents. She introduced Sharon as their long-lost cousin.
Abby’s mother was in shock and she went pale, staring at Sharon. “You look so much like my daughter. Come here,” she said as she held out her arms. Abby’s father looked on the verge of tears.
Sharon sent Abby a grateful look and went to hug her mother. “My name is Cecelia, but I prefer to be called ‘Sis’”.
Abby stood off to the side with Arthur, smiling as her parents fawned over her ‘cousin’. Arthur was then introduced as Sharon’s husband, and her parents welcomed him into the family.
Over the next few weeks, Abby set Arthur and Sharon up in a new apartment and ensured they had access to some money. Two weeks later, Sharon was emanating a different smell. Abby recognised it immediately and informed her sister that she was pregnant.
While Arthur and Sharon celebrated, Abby’s chest tightened—she was a potential threat to her niece or nephew. She needed to take the cure.
Abby moved into the hallway and smiled, giving Sharon and Arthur some privacy.
Perhaps she could find Trent when she was human.
Her chest warmed at the thought.
Abby went into the study—she’d stashed the cure in here earlier. The TV was still on from the last person who’d used it—Arthur probably, he wasn’t very energy conscious—and a news bulletin was playing.
Abby opened a desk drawer and retrieved the cure.
In the background, a reporter was talking about an attack that had taken place in a laboratory, killing all the scientists inside.
Abby paused and looked at the television.
“Twenty-six scientists were killed today in the attack, and some very strange footage was found at the scene. This has been verified by authorities and viewers are advised that this is not a hoax,” said the reporter as a grainy video began to play.
Abby’s jaw dropped. If she didn’t know any better, she’d say she was looking at a werewolf. But could such things exist? If vampires existed, did that mean that other paranormal creatures did too?
Abby stared down at the cure in her hand and gulped.

About the Author
I write in the fantasy and science fiction genres. I love writing young adult/new adult, paranormal romances and I include mythical and paranormal creatures in my books as often as possible.
I started writing in 2014 and have cultivated my passion for it since then. When I’m not writing or revising my novels, I’m playing fantasy or science fiction games or I’m reading in those genres.
I personally love reading and writing about kick-ass female characters and you’ll find that all of my books have strong female protagonists. Some of my characters are of the ass-kicking variety, others use their wits (and not their fists) to get them out of tough situations.
Whichever book of mine that you read, I hope that you enjoy the journey it takes you on.
