Hoffington took his pipe from his mouth and peered down at the paper. "This assignment gives you full control of that fortune." he grumbled. "This is very irregular."

"And this" said Penny, pushing the other piece of paper forward, "is my list of expenses. I had a bit of difficulty finding Lady Parker."

Hoffington glanced at the figure at the bottom of the paper. He grimaced. "We shall have to review these expenses, of course." he said.

"Review them to your heart's content." said Penny, putting her finger on the last piece of paper. "And this is my resignation."

Hoffington was shocked. The firm would have taken half her commissions as trustee of the Parker fortune. If she resigned that could not happen. "Your resignation?!" he barked, outraged.

"Yes sir" she said sweetly. She stroked her swollen belly with both hands, pointing it at the married man who had tried to get in her knickers before sending her off to die.

"I'd stay and chat, but I have to catch a plane back to Africa. There's a Boy there who I've become very attached to, and he's positively helpless in the jungle without me."
