Trinity (Moonstone Book 1) Page 18

by Andi Bremner

“Hey, baby,” Luke said as he opened the door and pulled me into his arms, delivering a slow sweet kiss to my lips. I closed my eyes and sighed. Each kiss was different, sometimes slow and sweet, sometimes intense and passionate, and I loved each and every one. It had been only a few weeks since that day with my mother but I was fast realizing that it might be two weeks, two years or two decades and I would probably never get enough of his kisses.

“How was the shopping trip?” He asked closing the door behind me. I noted that we weren’t alone. About five guys were sprawled on the sofa, including Toby, watching a sports game.

“Successful,” I told him, “I got a dress.”

His eyes darkened. “Want to model it for me? I can offer you my opinion.”

I shook my head. “It’s fine, thanks. I already got the girls’ opinions.” I headed toward the bedroom and then paused. “Oh, and Melissa’s too.”

  “Huh?”

I rolled my eyes. “She came into one of the boutiques while I was trying on dresses.”

I went into his room and dropped my bag on his bed aware that he was following. He lingered in the doorway watching me. “And?”

  “And, we had words.”

A funny look flittered across his face, and his jaw hardened. “What did she say to you?”

I sighed. “She made some smart-ass comment and I…”

I couldn’t finish and instead glanced down at my fingers.

  “And you?” he prompted.

“And I sought of suggested I was buying a dress for…” my face flamed bright red and I couldn’t bring myself to say the words out loud.

  “For…”

“For our wedding,” I whispered and cringed regretting how stupid I had momentarily been.

Silence greeted my statement and then Luke suddenly burst out laughing. I looked up at him and frowned but he continued to laugh.

“That is brilliant!” he said eventually, “fucking brilliant!”

  Luke

“You aren’t angry?” she wrinkled her nose at me, “or annoyed?”

I shook my head. “No. Why would I be angry? That’s a brilliant way to shut her up.”

“Well ‘cos I said…” her voice trailed off, “and she will probably tell your mom.”

I shrugged. “Just give my mom something to talk about.”

She fell silent and I stared at her. “What else?”

  “Huh?” she glanced up.

  “What aren’t you telling me?”

She bit her bottom lip and I wondered what she could possibly have said that made her so reluctant to tell me. “Well, I kind of implied, I mean I said…”

  “Yeah?”

“That we fucked day and night. All day long.”

I stared at her, my body reacting to just hearing her talk that way. “How exactly did you imply that?”

“Well I said it just like that,” she admitted, “It wasn’t a nice thing to say I know I hurt her feelings. I actually went to apologize but she had already left.”

I moved into the room and shut the door behind me before I sat on beside her on the bed. “Don’t be sorry. Melissa can be a bitch and she needs to get it through her head that you are with me. That I’m with you. That she and I are well and truly over.”

  She nodded. “I know that.”

“But,” I traced my hand over her knee, “what was that you told her?”

“About the,” she dropped her voice, “fucking?”

I hardened instantly at her hearing the way she whispered the word. “Uh-huh.”

She raised her eyes and they met mine. They darkened and I could see the desire in them. God I would never get enough of this girl. “Well, I said that we were fucking all the time.”

  “Day and night?”

  She nodded.

I lowered my head and kissed her lips, drawing her bottom lip into my mouth and biting it gently. She drew a sharp intake of breath and her hands went to my head, her fingers threading through my hair as she returned the kiss, her tongue swirling with mine.

Suddenly she broke the kiss and sat back to pull of her shirt, tossing it to the floor before she snapped off and discarded her bra on top of it. Then she climbed on top of my lap, wrapping her legs around and leaning down to kiss me again. My hands went to her back and then reached around to palm and caress her naked breasts. She moaned into my mouth and I felt my stomach lurch. I pinched and tweaked her nipples which had pebbled against my palm.

“Oh, Trin,” I muttered against her mouth as she ground herself against me.

Flipping her I dragged her up the bed with me before my fingers went to her jeans, snapping the buttons undone and tugging them down over her hips and tossing them away. Light blue lacy panties covered her and I took a moment to drink in the image of her lying on my bed, her eyes heavy and hooded, her breath coming in short pants, her lips swollen from our kisses.

“Are you coming?” she asked, reaching for me.

I grinned at her, tugging her panties down over her thighs. “Oh I am going to be coming all right,” I told her, “but not before you do.”

Pushing her knees apart I kept my eyes locked on hers as I lowered my head to slowly and carefully lick the length of her. I groaned at the taste of her and struggled to get a grip. On the bed she writhed and thrust her hips towards me begging me for more.

“Fuck, every part of you is beautiful Trinity,” I told her, “even your pussy.”

She moaned and I grinned triumphantly. She loved it when I talked dirty to her.

I dipped my head and tasted her again, licking at her, swirling my tongue over her most sensitive nub before sucking it into my mouth. She cried out and her fingers gripped hold of my hair as her legs floundered around me. I licked her again and again, before pressing my fingers at her entrance and then surging them inside her.

“Oh god, Luke,” she cried, trembling beneath me.

I kept working her, moving my fingers in and out, my tongue pressing and swirling over her clit. She was close, I could feel her trembling and writhing, clutching at me and calling my name.

I lifted my head, “Come for me, Trin, come now.”

She obeyed like the good girl she was and came for me, calling my name over and over as she found her release. As she was coming down from her orgasm I quickly discarded my clothes and crawled up alongside her, kissing over her breasts, up her throat and then finally her lips. I hovered over her and pressed against her entrance.

“You are so ready,” I told her, “fuck I love how wet you get for me, Trin.”

Reaching down between us she grabbed me and rubbed me against her length, letting me slide over her slipperiness before she pushed me into her entrance, gasping and clutching at me as I slid into her easily. She was still tight but she was always so ready for me that I had a hard time not coming instantly. Instead I leaned my head against her forehead and groaned as she began to buck her hips against mine, searching for release again.

“Just hang on,” I begged her breathlessly, “give me a second.”

“Are you okay?” concern etched her voice.

I nodded. “So fucking okay that I think if you make one more move I am going to be way too okay and it will all be over.”

“Oh,” she said understanding and then giggled.

  Fuck I loved her giggles.

Rising up, I stared down into her eyes as I began to move, slowly at first and then faster and faster as the need in me built. Her legs wrapped around my waist and she kept her gaze fixed on me as I moved against her, as she moved against me, meeting my hips thrust for thrust.

Just when I thought I couldn’t stand it anymore she threw her head back and closed her eyes. “No,” I told her, “keep your eyes on me.”

She obeyed and bit her lip as her orgasm gripped her. I watched her, watching how her pupils dilated, how her breathing changed, how she gripped tighter and called out my name and then before I knew it I was joining her, toppling over the edge an
d into an abyss of pure bliss.

Pulling the car up outside The Silver Den, which still read Liv Den, I couldn’t help but think back to that Saturday night weeks ago when I had done this exact same thing. I glanced over at the same bored bouncer. How things had changed.

“I have to run,” Trinity was saying beside me, “I’m late.”

She was always late. It was how she seemed to operate, always running late for something, but that only seemed to make her more adorable. At least in my eyes it did. I watched as she grabbed her bag from the backseat, planted quick kiss on my cheek before clamoring out of the car and disappearing into the club, throwing a grin the bouncer’s way.

I ran a hand over my face before I followed her. Once inside I made my way over to the bar and ordered a drink, leaning against the bar as I waited for the bartender to deliver my beer. Music filled the club and there were a few people already dancing to the music the DJ pumped out. It was quite packed already and I knew it was because of Moonstone. Word was getting around about how good they were. My chest swelled a little, how good Trinity was. My Trinity.

I sipped my drink and let my mind wander back to that afternoon. To the playful antics in my bedroom. We’d been so caught up in one another that we had forgotten that just outside the door my mates were watching a game. Or trying to watch a game. When we had emerged a while later we had been greeted by caterwauls and wolf whistles. Toby had even clapped as if we had just completed a performance. Trinity had blushed scarlet but she didn’t run away and hide like I knew she wanted to, and instead she had stayed by my side all afternoon until it was time for her to get ready for her gig.

“You here to see the band?” the guy beside me asked now, drawing my mind away from my musings.

I glanced over at him. He was dressed in a suit. A fucking suit. And he was older than the regular patrons of The Silver Den.

  “Yeah. You a fan?”

He grinned. “Not yet. But I have heard some great things about Moonstone and someone suggested I come and check them out. You’re a fan?”

“I’m a huge fan,” I told him with a grin.

“You go to the college here?” he asked again.

  I nodded. “Engineering major.”

“Right,” he said without interest, “have they got a big college following then? Moonstone?”

  I shrugged. “Yeah I guess.”

“Good to know.” He turned back to survey the interior of the bar.

I frowned at him. “Who did you say you were?”

It was his turn to grin at me. “I didn’t.” I half expected him to walk away but he held out a hand. “My name is Charles Murphy. I run a Sunlight Records.”

I blinked at him. “You’re a music producer.”

  “That I am.”

“And you’re here to see Trin—I mean Moonstone?”

“Yeah, always keep an ear to the ground looking for new talent. Something raw and new. I’ve seen them on YouTube, that lead singer is something else, so I thought I’d check them out.”

  “They know you’re here?”

  He shook his head. “No.”

“Well,” I said a little dumbfounded, “enjoy the show.”

He grinned at me. “Oh I am sure I will.”

I watched as he took a seat toward the back of the room where he could survey pretty much the whole entire bar. After a while I noted Tony Hurst appear and go over, chatting to him for a while. Then he gestured to the bartender who bought over a bottle of wine and a single glass. Obviously Tony knew he was here. I wondered absently if he had organized for him to come and then remembered the last time he had nearly set up Trinity. I pushed my drink away. I needed to be completely sober tonight to keep an eye on what was going on.

By the time the girls came on a little later the bar was packed. I surveyed the crowd. It had been busy the first night had come to see what the fuss was about but the crowd must have doubled in just a few short weeks. Glancing over at Charles I could see he was just as interested in the crowd. The band came with devoted fans, which had to be a bonus.

Gwen stepped up to the microphone first and spoke to the crowd. “How y’all doing?” she drawled and grinned when a loud round of applause greeted her. “We are Moonstone and we are here to entertain you whilst you get hammered!”

I grinned, watching as the crowd came alive.

“Give it up for our girl Trinity.”

I leaned forward, watching the stage intently as Trinity stepped out on stage. She was dressed in that strapless tartan dress that was fucking sexy as hell. When she’d climbed out of my car only an hour ago her face had been bare of makeup but now it was made up for the stage, complete with thick black lashings around her eyes and dark red lips. Puckering her lips now Trinity blew a kiss to the audience before she launched into the first song. It was a cover of Five for Fighting’s song Superman, something I hadn’t heard them do before and not something I would expect them to sing, but oddly Trinity, with her operatic voice, did it justice and when she closed her eyes and clutched the microphone to sing the audience went wild.

“I’m only a girl searching for her dreams.” She sang making my throat clench as I watched her. I wanted her to find her dreams, I wanted her to have everything she’d never dared dream with the fucked up life she’d had so far.

Glancing over at the music rep I found him leaning across the small table he occupied, glass of wine in hand as he watched the band intently. Watched Trinity. They were playing another song now, “Halfway Gone” by Lifehouse, yet another interesting choice that sounded completely different with Trinity’s voice. Shawna on drums though had a chance to shine in this song and for a while the spotlight left Trinity to focus on Shawna who was caught up in the beat, her head tilted back, eyes closed, red hair shining in the stage light. She was good, all the girls were good, fantastic even, but of course my eyes never left Trinity for very long.

I wished I could read Charles Murphy’s face, but it was impassive and giving nothing away. He had to be impressed, he couldn’t not be. The girls were on fire tonight and Trinity was sexier than ever. As if proving my point she turned around and bent forward a little shaking her ass at the audience in time with the music, one arm raised in the air. Then she turned and looked over her shoulder her eyes scanning the audience before they settled on me. A wicked grin came over her face and then she winked. I returned her grin, ignoring the interested looks of the patrons around us as I kept her gaze for as long as she would spare it. Most of the regulars knew she was with me, since we’d been together continually for weeks now. I was glad. I wanted them to know. I wanted each and every guy in hear to know that she was mine and they might be able to watch her strut her stuff on stage but off stage, she was mine.

I might as well beat my chest and roar, that was how Neanderthal I felt.

My girl. She was all mine.

  Chapter Twenty-Three

  Trinity

I took a large gulp of water and used a small towel to wipe the perspiration that beaded on the back of my neck. It was hot up on stage with the lights burning down on us and I always bounced around on stage so much that I couldn’t help but get sweaty. But the audience loved it when I danced around and put a lot of energy into the performance and it was all about the audience.

Or at least one audience member.

I glanced over to where Luke stood by the bar, watching. He was there every Saturday night and I loved the feel of his eyes on me. It made me feel sexy and alive. He made me a better performer.

Stepping up to the microphone now I smiled down at the audience, dragging my gaze reluctantly from Luke. “How we all doing?” I asked and they cheered in response.

“We are going to take it down a notch okay? Try a new song out on you guys. A new song written by our fantastic drummer Shawna,” the audience roared and I grinned. “It’s called For You and I hope you like it.”

I closed my eyes and listened as Gwen counted us, Shawna starting to play and
then the others joining her. Then I started to sing, keeping my eyes closed as I concentrated on the lyrics and the beat. It was a slower song and the lyrics were heavy with meaning. Shawna had done a fabulous job. I swear the girl should write poetry she was so good. I leaned in to the microphone and let the words flow out of me.

“For you I take the higher road

For you I close the door and walk away

For you I dry the tears and let you free”

I wondered who Shawna was thinking about when she wrote the song but I hadn’t asked. We never asked, feeling somehow that it was too personal. She might share the sentiments and words with us, but her thoughts and experiences were her own to keep. Besides I found it easier to get into the song if I put my own spin on it, if I made it personal for me. For this song it wasn’t hard. I thought about my mother. As much as I wanted a relationship with her, as I had always wanted a relationship with her, I knew it was never going to happen. She hated me too much, she resented me too much and she had hurt me for the last time. Luke had said that I knew he would never let her touch me again but it was more than that. It was from me. I was finally finding some balls when it came her to her and I vowed I would never let her near me again, let never her hurt me. I was done. And in a way I was doing her a favor too. I was doing it for her. Maybe she was right and without me in her life she would finally have the happiness with Kent that she had craved her whole life. I doubted it but at least she had the chance now.

When the song ended the audience went wild. Opening my eyes I immediately searched for Luke at the back of the bar expecting him to be watching me as he usually was. I was surprised to see though that he wasn’t, instead he was looking over at another table, his focus fixed on the guy that nodded his head and clapped along with the audience. He wasn’t the usual patron we had in here, dressed in a suit and being quite a bit older I frowned a little wondering who he could be and why Luke was so interested in him. I didn’t have time to think about it as I could already hear Shawna setting us up for our next song. But I was intrigued and as we continued playing my eyes were continually drawn to the guy at the back. At one stage I saw Tony talking to him too which only piqued my interest more.
