Ephraim smiled. He watched each new episode with pride and admiration for his incredibly talented wife. She’d taken the role of a simple maid and made it her own, made it into the centerpiece of Mirage.
“We’re trying again with Samantha, you know,” Wyatt said, serious now. “The last doctor was no help at all.”
Ephraim nodded. There was nothing to say, really. Yet he knew that even if Rosie gave up, Wyatt never would. He’d do anything for his beloved wife and her family.
Although, with the rumor he’d just heard about Johnny . . . But even Ephraim didn’t care anymore. The empty space in his chest had been repaired at some point during an especially black storm during the night of the syzygy.
The sun broke through the Northumberland clouds then, and the fields shimmered in the unexpected light.
“Race you back to the stables, Trev,” Wyatt said, neatly turning his mount around and riding off at a full gallop without giving the former Lord Trevelton a chance.
Ephraim pivoted Hollyhock and urged his pure white Arabian forward. He’d catch up with his friend in a moment.
Author’s notes, &c.
R.T.W. Lipkin lives in New York with her husband and three cats.
Now Playing on Outworld 5730 is the latest addition to the author’s slate of uncategorizable novels. Part sci-fi, part mystery, part Regency, part fantasy, part suspense, serious and humorous, and sporting an ensemble cast of abovestairs, belowstairs, and pangalactic characters, Now Playing gleefully cuts across genres to create a unique and thrilling reading experience.
Next up will be the West Hills novels, a four-book dystopia series, due out in the early spring of 2019. If you’re looking for the usual postapocalyptic fare, prepare to be surprised, because these new books, like all the author’s works, are offbeat, mind-bending forays into the depths of emotions, events, and relationships.
