Through the Mist Page 26

by Ferrell, Cece

The three of you, along with your mother, brought me back to life in a way I never knew was possible. You all allowed me to live and love in ways I never had before, never should have been able to. Every moment with you all has been a miracle of epic proportions. That you all manage to exist is a miracle, and while I will never have any answers for you as to how that is possible, I simply know that it is.

There will come a day, and if you are reading this, that day may have already come, when your mother and I will no longer be around to share life with you. I only hope that you all are grown when that happens, that our loss will not be a devastating one to you all. I would love to say we will still be around to watch you all have careers, fall in love, and raise families of your own, but that is a promise I cannot make.

If you are reading this, I believe that your mother and I have somehow found a way to move on to whatever else lies on the other side of death, through the mist and veil of life here on earth to our hereafter.

I love you with all of my heart, always. I hope you will continue to feel the love your mother and I spent our lives trying to give you every single day of your own lives. Lana, Clark, and Grace, all of my heart, all of my joy, all of my love to you. Always.

  Love,

  Your dad, Archer

  Acknowledgments

This is so surreal, being at the point where I am writing the acknowledgements for my first book. I first began writing Through the Mist in 2012 and there were points I never thought I’d be here, hitting publish for the first time.

There are so many people that helped me along away to get to where I am now. I know I’m going to forget some of you here and I just hope you know it isn’t intentional.

To my mom and dad, thank you for being the best parents a girl could ask for. You guys have always supported every single dream I had, never once telling me they were impossible, always asking what you could do to help make them come true. I know how rare and special that is and I will always be grateful to you both. I am here right now, realizing one of my oldest and biggest dreams because of you guys!

To my husband Josh, you are simply amazing. Your endless support and encouragement through this process means more to me than you will ever know. You have been there for me every step of the way, pushing me forward when I was determined to stop, always believing in me, pulling my weight at home and with the girls when I couldn’t be pulled away from this book. I saw everything you did to help this dream come true for me, and I cannot say thank you enough. Baby, we finally made both of our dreams happen!!!! You truly are my rock. I love you so much.

To my daughters, I know you both are too young to read this, but I hope one day you will. Thank you for being the best kids a mom could hope for. Thank you for inspiring me to follow my dreams every day. I hope one day I inspire you both to chase your dreams too. I love you with all my heart.

To Collette, thank you for being the best friend a girl could ask for and supporting me in ways I never expected. You read my book when I was on the verge of giving it all up, and your love and excitement for this story and these characters gave me much needed hope. I love you.

To Juliana, thank you for being my best friend, my sis. Your love, support, and encouragement means the world to me. I love you and am so grateful to have you in my life.

To Laura and Marika - my girls, my best bitches, my #hmc crew. There will never be enough words to thank you both for all you’ve done for me. I don’t know how I got so lucky to meet you both, but I’ll always be grateful that we did. Thank you for everything. I love you guys and now you’re stuck with me!

To Danielle, thank you for our long talks, late night convos, and texts. I’ve loved getting to support each other through this part of our journey and I’m so grateful for you kind, supportive words. I can’t wait to read Beau and Jules’ story!

To all of my beta’s: Krista, Larissa, Brooke, Kristine, Greg, Bella, Rebel, Laura, and Marika. Thank you, thank you, thank you. It is because of your time, effort, and feedback that Through the Mist is where it is now. I couldn’t have done this without you guys and I am eternally grateful.

To my editor, cover designer, and proofreader - thank you for the fantastic work you’ve done for me. My book baby is shiny and beautiful because of your hard work.

To my Adams Mom Crew, thank you for your support and community. Thank you for letting me talk your ears off about this book. Thank you for just being there and putting a smile on my face when I need it. I am so lucky to have you all in my life.

To Bella Love, Auden Dar, Cassandra Robbins, Leslie McAdam, Mara White, HB Jasick, Mia Miller, Krista Sandor, Kelly Violet, Jami Denise, and so many other author friends that I’m blanking on right now - thank you all for your support, chats, and encouragement.

To all my friends and family who have supported me through this journey, to all of you that shared my posts and info about my book, who messaged me or shared kind and supportive words, to all of you who pre-ordered my book or plan on buying it - I’m not going to even try to list you all because I know that there are so many of you that I would assuredly forget someone. Please just know that I’ve seen all the love and support and I am so incredibly grateful to each and every one of you. Thank you.

And finally, to you, dear reader. Thank you for taking a chance on me and on this book. Your support in buying and taking the time to read my book means everything to me. You are a part of me realizing this dream. Thank you.

  A second-chance romance, coming in 2019

  One look.

  One touch.

  One night.

That’s all it took to change everything.

Three months of bliss before it all disappeared.

Weeks into months into years of breaking apart under the weight of loneliness.

  The pressure of responsibilities.

The soul shattering reality of life.

  One touch.

  One look.

  One afternoon.

That’s all it took to bring our world crashing down around us.

Regrets? They are a brick wall between us.

  Would I change a thing?

Not for all the stars in the sky.

  About the Author

Cece Ferrell wrote her first short story at the age of eight and has had a passion for the written word ever since.
An intense fascination with stories from the past led her to getting her B.A. degree in Renaissance Studies from the University of California Santa Barbara.

Cece loves: words, especially of the four letter variety, snark, tea, all things crafty, and flawed characters who love passionately. She is a sucker for a great smile and thinks there is almost nothing better in the world than dessert.

Cece resides in Southern California with her husband and two little girls who constantly keep her on her toes. When she's not writing, Cece can be found reading voraciously, having adventures with her family, or binge watching shows on Netflix with her husband.
