“Bend over,” he said near her ear while he brushed his erection against her backside.

As instructed, she leaned over and braced her hands on the bed. She spread her legs wider, encouraging him to enter her. He moved one hand away, but the other continued to grope one of her tits. Within seconds, he slipped his long shaft inside her.

She was in state of pure need, and he was the only man who could satisfy her. He made her crazy with desire. He filled her like no other had, pumping into her again and again. His movements were quick, deep, and oh-so pleasing as he pushed her toward her release. Still holding her one breast, he moved his hand to the front and between her legs. He rubbed her core while he thrust into her. The anticipation skyrocketed like never before. She’d never felt so needy. Each time he drove deep and circled her nub, she came closer to her climax. She was burning up, tense, and ready to burst. He pounded into her and pinched her nipple. The shockwave of desire raced to her core and he squeezed it. She gasped as her release came hard and fast, clenching his thickness.

“Oh, yes. Yes…” Andrew said, driving deeper and with more urgency.

His release came pounding against her inner walls. She loved feeling the heartbeat of his erection inside her. He continued caressing her core, keeping her own orgasm alive. Her muscles contracted, squeezing his pulsing cock. Wave after beautiful wave of pleasure flowed through her. The rush had been replaced with bliss, but just under the surface waited the need for more pleasure, more fulfillment. Was there every enough?

Her arms began to quiver, so she lowered onto the bed. Andrew stayed inside where he belonged and brushed her hair away from her back. She steadied her breaths and relaxed, but that itch for more remained very present.

  “Again,” she said.

His hot fingertips warmed her as they roamed over her back. His touch soothed and excited her. She could get hooked on him and the satisfaction he offered. And really, was sex with an angel such a bad thing?

He kissed her back. “Anything for you.”

She licked her lips as her pulse sprang with new life. The answer to her question became clear. Sex with Andrew was a gift from heaven and she planned to enjoy every minute.

  Chapter Twenty-Five

Andrew held his breath while he wiped the baby’s dirty bottom. It amazed him how such a cute little creature could create such a large stinky mess. He held the infant’s legs while he cleaned her, and then he tossed the soiled cloth into the poopy diaper. As quickly as he could, he slid the clean diaper underneath her and strapped it on.

“There, all clean,” Andrew said to the babe.

She stared at him as if she were seeing through him. At three days old, he doubted she was seeing much and what she could see, her tiny little brain didn’t know how to process.

A loud cry from another baby drew his attention up.

“I got it,” Kurt said loudly as he headed for the source of the cry.

Andrew sighed with relief. He was glad his shift was over in an hour so he could return to Emily. He’d spent the day making love to her and had enjoyed every minute. Needless to say, he came to work a little tired and sore, but he sure wasn’t complaining. His days off with her had been the best that he could remember in a very long time.

The poo-poo perfume from the diaper brought him back to the present. He quickly wrapped up the dirty diaper, collected the others he’d changed, and then headed for the trash bin near the back. Carol, the brunette nurse, had fed and burped a baby. He passed her as she put the infant back into the plastic tub. He was so grateful he didn’t have to work with the demon during his shift. After watching the kids and getting to know them, he knew working with her would fuel his loathing toward her. He needed to kill the bitch soon before he did something stupid.

He stopped at the diaper bin and pushed a dirty one into the slot. The diaper didn’t want to go in. He added a little pressure and managed to get it down, but given the effort it took, he doubted he could get the other three into the bin.

Carol walked behind him and disappeared into the supply closet. Holding the three wrapped-up diapers, he walked in behind her. She had her hand on her hips and was searching the shelves. She had a thin frame and wore a Hello Kitty scrub top to go with her blue pants.

  “Looking for something?” Andrew asked.

“I think we’re out of formula,” Carol said.

“I’ll help you get some if you help me get rid of these diapers.”

  “Deal.” She walked toward him.

“I think the bin is full. I managed to get one diaper in, but I doubt I can get the rest of these,” he said as she passed him.

She headed out the door and he followed her to the bin. She lifted a latch and then tugged open the top. The bag inside was full. “Ugh, I hate it when the people from the prior shift don’t take out the shit.”

He watched her take the edges of the bag, then lift and shake it. The diapers didn’t move much. Given that the bin was waist high, he suspected the bag might be too heavy for her to remove if she tried.

“Let me get that,” he said.

“It needs to go to the garbage room,” she said as she backed away. “Do you know where that is?”

“No, but I can take it.” He set his dirty diapers on top of the others. Since he wasn’t sure how sturdy the bag was, he carefully lifted it out of the bin. The stench made him want to gag, but the clear bag held up well. He set it on the ground.

“We have a cart to use. I’ll show you where to take it. If I try to tell you, you’ll get lost. It’s like a maze in the subbasement.”

He’d been to the subbasement once with Kurt and hadn’t been able to venture down to it again. He’d looked around while Kurt had shown him where the supplies were stored. From the little he’d seen, there weren’t any cameras. He needed to confirm there were none and see if there could be a safe place to kill Susan down there. Now that he had the chance to go back, he wouldn’t pass on it.

He tied the corners of the bag. “Did you say you were looking for formula?”

“Yes, I think were out. I didn’t see any boxes.” She headed back to the closet.

Andrew finished tying the bag before he joined Carol in the closet. She stood next to a stack of boxes.

“I don’t see any. The only case left is on the counter,” she said.

He scanned the boxes and couldn’t locate any labeled formula either. “Kurt showed me where to get supplies. I can go get some and bring them back.”

She walked to the corner where the flatbed cart waited. She tugged on the handle of the cart. “We’ll go together. I can show you where the garbage room is.”

After she wheeled out the cart, he hefted the bag up on to the cart. He pushed it and followed Carol toward the exit. When she stopped at the cabinets, he did too. She took the key to the supply closet in the subbasement from one of the drawers and then turned to Kurt. He was sitting in a rocking chair, feeding a premature baby. He looked up and she waved the keycard at him. Kurt nodded in understanding.

  “Okay, let’s go,” Carol said.

He pushed the cart and kept a safe distance behind her so he wouldn’t bump her. She opened the door and held it for him. Down the hall, they reached an entrance for employees only. After she swiped her badge, the doors opened. They continued until they reached the service elevators.

“Nobody likes to go to the subbasement,” she said after she hit the call button.

  “Why?”

“It’s dark and creepy. Perfect for a horror movie.”

“I think I’ll like it then,” he snickered.

The elevator arrived and he pushed the cart into it. She pushed the dial on the display marked ‘SB’ and then leaned against the wall. Andrew stood in the back and smiled at the thought of seeing Emily in an hour.

“I hear your married,” she said.

Andrew held up his ring finger.

  “Are you happily married?”

“Very.” He thought it strange she was aski
ng such a personal question. “What about you?”

“I came close to getting married once and decided it would be a huge mistake. I can’t see myself settling for one man. The idea is preposterous. There is no such thing as one person who can love another endlessly.”

“You’re wrong. Maybe you haven’t met the one that is right for you. It took me a long time and I made a lot of mistakes, but now I know I’m with the only woman who will make me happy.”

“But can she make you happy ten years from now? Twenty? Forty?”

“She will make me happy in this life and the next. My love for her will never end.”

She shook her head. “I hate to break it to you, but we have one life. And if you spend it with one woman, you’re missing out.”

He’d been so much like her when he’d been alive in the 1980s and during his years in heaven. For the longest time he couldn’t see himself with one woman. The idea seemed absurd. But Emily was different. He’d known it when he first met her. He couldn’t fathom losing her ever and he knew without a doubt no other woman would make him happy.

“I’ve been with plenty of women and I used to think the same thing. But I was very wrong and it took my wife to show me. I know how crazy it sounds, but I think there is someone for everyone,” he said.

The elevator dinged and the letters SB flashed above the doors.

“I’m perfectly happy going solo. Men are too complicated and a pain in the ass. Don’t take it personally,” she said before she exited.

He shook his head and pushed the cart out of the elevator. Carol seemed like a strong-minded and independent woman, similar to Emily. He wondered if Emily had the same view of men.

“We’ll go to the garbage room first,” she said, glancing over her shoulder.

  “Fine with me.”

He looked around the halls, on the ceilings, and near corners. There weren’t any cameras, but there were plenty of pipes. One clanked against another somewhere. The ventilation sounded louder. Florescent lighting from above brightened up the painted concrete halls, but gave them a cold feel. They rounded a couple of corners and he noticed most of the doors were shut.

“Do you know what’s in some of these rooms?” he asked.

“I heard they’re filled with old supplies.”

She stopped at the next room and turned the knob. The door opened and she stepped inside. Andrew hurried to catch up to her. She’d flipped on the light inside.

A musty smell made him want to sneeze as he stepped into the room. The walls were lined with metal vertical cabinets. An old desk that looked like it was from the 1950s backed up to one wall.

“Not much in this one. I’m guess there might be old hospital records in here, but I’m not checking,” she said before she headed for the exit.

The room had no cameras and was perfect for destroying a demon. His pulse increased. He’d found a good spot to kill Susan. He flipped off the light on his way out.

Carol had ventured ahead. She stopped when she reached another intersecting hallway. The wheels on the cart clattered on the solid floor as he hurried to reach her.

“I think it’s this way, but I can’t remember for sure.” She shifted her gaze down the hall and forward as if she were trying to decide which way to go.

“Chose one. We can always come back if it’s not the right way.”

She turned the corner and Andrew followed with the cart. They passed more closed doors. Curiosity itched within him to see if they were unlocked too. He stopped at one and twisted the knob. The door opened.

Carol kept walking. She hadn’t noticed he’d stopped. He pushed the door open and peered inside. Lights from the hall showed him enough. Old desks and chairs had been stacked. He quickly shut the door and then shoved the cart forward. Although he hadn’t looked closer in the room, he doubted there were any cameras. He’d found two good spots for killing Susan. Better yet, he suspected other rooms were the same. All he had to do now was find the right medicine to inject Susan with.

The noise from the ventilation grew louder. A foul odor grew stronger. Carol stopped near the end of the hall by an open door and waited. She waved her hand and smiled as she stared into the room.

“I’m showing a coworker where the garbage goes,” she said.

A man with dark hair and a beard appeared. He wore a dark uniform and had a nametag hooked to his chest pocket. The man looked at Andrew.

“We come bearing gifts,” Andrew said.

Carol moved out of the way and the man stepped back. Andrew pushed the cart into the room. Two other men were working, one sat at a desk while another pushed a large bin full of what looked like bags of trash.

“Set it near the bins. We’ll take care of it,” the man said.

Andrew followed his instructions. The stench in the room soured Andrew’s stomach. He placed the bag near a large gray bin full of similar-looking bags. Holding his breath, he hurried out of the room, pushing the cart.

  “Thanks,” Carol said.

The air smelled cleaner in the hall, but the pungent odor hadn’t disappeared yet. He was amazed those men could work around such stench. On his way back through the halls, he noted he’d have to be careful when he planned to kill Susan in one of the rooms. He’d seen three men working, but there could be others. The chances of being seen with her didn’t seem high, but they existed. Still, the rooms in the subbasement offered him the best opportunity to complete his task.

The thought of destroying the demon brightened his mood. Once he located the right drug to use, he could narrow down a time to end Susan’s life. Children would be safe from her. He couldn’t wait to share the news with Emily.

  Chapter Twenty-Six

Emily tapped her fingers on the steering wheel and sang along to the tune on the radio. Cool air blew into the car from the vents. The sun had risen in the sky and without any clouds threatening to cover it, she guessed it would be a gorgeous, but hot day.

She took a deep breath and glanced at the clock on the dashboard. The time showed five minutes after five. Her impatience grew as she waited for Andrew to walk out of the hospital.

The night had been long without him. After she’d dropped him off at seven, she’d tried to keep herself busy. She’d sent Troy a text so he could ship the poison to her. She’d researched a list of drugs on the Internet and found three potential ones that might work, but they weren’t fast acting. When there was nothing left for her to research or clean, she’d tossed and turned quite a bit in bed. As strange as it seemed, she felt lonely with him gone. And that bothered her. She enjoyed the sex and the way he treated her as if she were gold, but she knew it wouldn’t last. Nothing ever did. Falling in love or depending on a man for anything was not an option she cared to consider because either one would leave her heart aching or land her in trouble. Still, she couldn’t deny she had feelings for the angel.

Andrew walked out of the exit with a smile on his face. She could guess what was on his mind. If there were a god of sex, he would be it. And if it were a sin to have sex with an angel, than she was going to become the worst sinner imaginable.

He settled into the seat next to her. Still smiling, he leaned toward her. “I’m dying for a kiss.”

She gave him what he sought. “I can’t have you dying.” She pressed her mouth to his again, only this time they stayed together longer.

  “I’ve missed you.” He straightened.

Emily shifted the gear. “You can show me just how much you’ve missed me when we get home.”

“Oh, I intend to.” He tugged off his blue top, leaving his off white long-sleeved shirt on.

His stern words and heated tone sparked a flame inside her. She felt like teenager all over again, lusting for sex. She knew better than to get hooked on the drug known as the man sitting next to her. But how could she not get addicted when he had such a stunning body, large erection, charismatic personality, and strong desire to please her? He made her feel happy and loved.

  “I have s
ome good news,” he said.

  “What is it?”

“I found a spot to destroy the demon.”

She glanced away from the road briefly. “Really?”

“I had to go back to the subbasement this morning. I’d been meaning to, but I’d been too busy. One of the other nurses took me to the place where the garbage gets dumped. We checked out a room and it was filled with file cabinets and a desk. I looked in another and it had old office supplies. I don’t think any of the rooms are locked and I didn’t see any cameras. Now I have a place to destroy her.”

The excitement in his tone made her smile. But there was something he’d said that piqued her curiosity.

“So you checked out a private room with a fellow nurse?” she asked.

The grin on his face flattened. “Emily, I would never, ever consider touching another woman. It’s not a thought in my mind. Yes, she showed me in a room. We looked around and that was it. I promise you I am in love with you and I would never do anything to hurt you.”

His strong words sent a chill through her. He’d professed his love many times before, but hearing them now hit home. She’d regretted asking the question, but she couldn’t forget about his past craving for women.

“And you might find it interesting that the nurse I was with in the subbasement seems to think men are complicated and a pain in the ass. In some ways, she reminded me of you,” he said. “She’s a very independent type of woman.”

“Well, she’s right. I have to agree with her about men.”

“So you think I’m a pain in your ass?”

“Not currently, but there was a time in New York when I’d thought that.”

“Okay, I’ll give you that time. But since we’ve been here…”

She tried to hide her smile as she checked her side mirror. “No pain since we came here.”

“I don’t blame you for asking the question,” he said in a calm tone. “But you should know my days of promiscuity are over. We may not be married in real life, but in my heart we are. I am fully committed to you and only you.”
