“Excuse me. I have a perfect driving record and most of the guys I know have been in countless accidents.”
Trent said, “That’s because you are the perfect woman, the perfect wife. The normal rules don’t apply to you.”
“You always know what to say, don’t you? Just when I am ready to be mad at you, you hit my weakness. Compliments for me.”

Whitney sat back in her lounge chair on the beach and sipped on her strawberry margarita. Her silver-framed sunglasses shielded her eyes from the intense sunlight coming from the cloudless sky. She watched Trent come out of the water and adjusted the teal strap on her top.
She focused on his chiseled abs before getting a full view of the total package. His tanned body made him even more appealing to Whitney. He sat down next to her and reached out his hand. Whitney plunged her hand into his and watched the incoming waves.
“This is perfect. I haven’t thought about any conniving criminals ever since the wheels went up on the plane. Just me and you.”
Trent said, “Yep, you’re stuck with me. So have you put any thought into having kids?”
Whitney was blindsided because Trent had never really talked to her about the subject before.
“I mean, yeah, someday I do. It’s just tough because of the kind of lifestyle we are involved in right now. Would it be fair to bring a child into our situation? We are constantly traveling around and most of the time we have to leave at the drop of a hat.”
Trent said, “I know it’s not ideal, but if we wait too long, we’re going to look like grandparents dropping our kids off at grade school. I’d hate to wait too long and have the door close on us. The spirits said that we could drop out of this at any point, remember.”
“I know, I’m torn. I really want to have kids, I just don’t want to have to go through all the stuff that it entails. You sound like my mom by the way with the clock is ticking speech so that should scare you just a little bit.”
Trent said, “I always knew your mom was a smart person. I don’t think we need to take care of this right this second, but we should be thinking about it. Imagine the perfect babies we are going to make. We should probably think about taking a break as a team at some point.”
“I can’t believe we have two weeks of this paradise to enjoy. Are we just going to go back to the Bureau? The invitation is on the table.”
Trent sipped his drink. “I enjoyed working for the Bureau, but I have given thought about what your father said a while ago.”
“And that is?”
Trent reached over and grabbed her hand. “Now this would take some funding, but I’ve been thinking about us starting our own Investigative Agency. We have the connections and know-how now. It would keep us independent of the government and all the bureaucratic BS that it entails. I think it would be great.”
“I like the idea. The only problem would be getting someone with that much money to invest in us.”
Trent said, “I know someone that would be happy to loan us the money. You might not like it, but…”
Whitney cut him off. “You want to borrow the money from my sister and Aaric?”
Trent answered, “I know you probably won’t be fired up about this. We need to make a pizza and he’s got the cheese. And we will be getting handsomely paid to perform our service so paying him back won’t be a problem. His only demand was that we set up our operation in Pennsburgh so we could stay close to the family.”
“Wait, you already talked to him about this? You didn’t think you should talk to me first.” Whitney started to fume over being left out of a huge life decision.
Trent shook his head. “It’s not like that at all. I wanted to have all our ducks in a row before I mentioned it to you. It’s kind of an empty dream without the financial backing. I could have come to you and said, hey what do you think about the idea. Then, if you said you liked it, I would have to go talk to Aaric about it anyway. So I just avoided an extra step.”
“I think you should have talked to me ahead of time. We can get a loan from somewhere else too. We both have good credit and I would hate to borrow money from family. What if something happened between him and Victoria? Would he suddenly raise interest rates if that happened?”
Trent reached over and held her hand. He lightly massaged her with his thumb and said, “I love you and we don’t have to do this if you don’t want to. The amount of money we would need, might make it hard to get from a bank or lender. Aaric has the money and is willing to invest. He does want a share of the business so he’s not just being a nice guy.”
“I knew he would try to make money off of us. Doesn’t that seem shady to you?”
Trent said, “Whit, we’re talking about a multi-million dollar loan, not just something to get a new car. Of course he’s going to make some money off the deal. He has to as a business man, but I assure you he gave us better rates that any bank ever would.”
“I can’t believe you talked in this much detail about this with my brother-in-law. Maybe if you just broached the subject and talked vaguely, but you seem to have the entire loan worked out.”
Trent squeezed her hand tightly. “Again, what good would it have been if I proposed a pipedream to you that would end up falling apart in the end? I also wanted to make sure he wasn’t going to rip us off, because I know you would be like a hawk on that. I didn’t want our dream to fizzle out because we couldn’t fund it.”
“I’m still mad, but this margarita is helping me cope with your behind-my-back shady activities. When did you even get to talk to him?”
Trent answered, “That last party at the castle when we got to talk over a couple games of pool. I wish I had bet him for the loan because he is terrible at shooting stick. The bottom line is our dream is at our fingertips if we just want to reach out and grab it.”
“Of course I want to grab it. The Powers and Merrick Company sounds pretty awesome to my ears.”
Trent looked over at Whitney and smiled. “That does sound good, but we should probably go alphabetically with the last names. It’s just a little out of whack.”
“Whatever, mister, you owe me for planning in secrecy about our dream. We have to come up with a cool name then so we won’t fight about our name order. I’m not good with names.”
Trent suggested, “What about the Golden Patriot Brigade? No, that sounds stupid. I’m sure we’ll come up with a good name. So we do agree that we want to do this? Be our own bosses.”
“I’m the real boss. You will always work for me.” Whitney laughed.
Trent said, “So you’re not mad at me anymore?”
“I’m getting there, I guess.”
“Save some of that anger and let’s go back to the hotel room and make up,” Trent proposed.
Whitney finished her drink and pulled her bikini clad body from the lounge chair. Trent stood up and held out his hand. Whitney grabbed it and they walked shoeless in the sand on the way back to the hotel.
They started making out in the elevator and when the door opened for their floor, several hotel guests were waiting outside. Whitney didn’t even care as they hustled down the hallway. Trent opened the door and entered the room. The two lovers were all over each other before the door could even close.
They worked their way over to the bed and Whitney went down to her knees. She pulled down Trent’s swimming trunks and massaged her lover’s semi-hard member with her left hand. She licked up the shaft and kissed the tip of his penis before wrapping her lips around it and slowly working her way down.
Trent let out a moan of manly pleasure and his growing manhood let Whitney know her work was being appreciated. She continued to work the shaft with her mouth and hand until her lover exploded, filling her mouth with his warm seed spilling from the corners of her lips.
Trent pulled her up from the ground. Trent untied the straps and used the chilly metal tips to trace Whitney’s collarbone down to her breast encircling her ever hardening nipple.
He
laid her on her stomach over the end of the bed. Trent brushed his fingers up the back of both of her legs, leaving a trail of fire in his path. A hard smack on the left side of her ass made Whitney arch her back in excitement. She had never been hit during sex and it really turned her on.
Trent gave the same treatment to the other side and a ripple of ecstasy cascaded through her body. Her lover buried his face into her wetness and used his tongue to further excite her. Whitney felt drunk on pleasure as Trent smacked her ass two more times.
Whitney was aching for Trent to give her what she wanted and she kept pushing herself backwards in anticipation. He finally moved in and massaged the tip of his silken hardness around her opening. Whitney thought she might have an orgasm before Trent even entered her as her liquid excitement ran down the inside of her thighs.
He teased his way in until Whitney couldn’t take any more and shoved her vagina back for more. Trent started with long, slow strokes as Whitney bawled up the comforter in her two hands and dug her nails in. Trent speeded up and slowed down as Whitney quivered underneath him.
He slapped her ass again and Whitney thought she was going to pass out from the intensity of the moment. Trent reached around to stimulate her sweet spot and all the sensations brought her to the most intense climax of her life.
Trent collapsed on top of her as Whitney trembled uncontrollably. She felt like she had been sprinkled with magic dust as the two lovers moved up onto the bed. She kissed Trent and stared into his brown eyes.
“How can the sex get better almost all the time?”
Trent said, “Because it’s with the perfect woman. Gives me motivation to come up with some new stuff to try. And for the record, you haven’t stopped me from doing anything new yet.”
“Well keep it coming because that was amazing. I never would have thought I could get so much excitement from being spanked. I’m starting to think you are much more experienced than I am.”
Trent said, “Well, uh, actually, you’d be surprised what you find online these days.”
“I’m definitely not surprised about what you can find online. I am surprised that you tried to use that excuse.”
Whitney felt like she was in heaven as the couple took a moonlit stroll down the beach after an amazing island dinner. Her life had been a roller-coaster ride ever since she had met Trent so it was nice to have some time to enjoy and reflect. The couple finally had a chance to put all the worries aside and just get lost in each other.
Whitney still had yet to find a single flaw in her lover. The husband and wife had the typical arguments that most couples do, but they never stayed mad at each other for very long. They went back to the hotel room for an amazing night of sex, and as they lay in bed, Whitney wondered what the next case would bring.

Whitney Powers Paranormal Adventures Book 3
Prologue
Northeast Adoxia
More tears glided down Mary’s trembling cheeks and fell to the hospital room floor. She shut her eyes to get rid of the image of her comatose son connected to all the noisy machines. The past two weeks of worry had taken their toll on her.
A mother can only handle so much.
Her husband, George, paced back and forth by the huge window. He nodded his head at the workers on the scaffolding right outside the window. He ate some shelled peanuts from a long, narrow plastic bag and grabbed a Coke can off the ledge. His wedding ring clanged against the top of the can and his Adam’s apple ripple as he chugged the liquid and set it back down.
He sat down in the contoured hospital chair and placed his hand on his son’s forearm. Mary’s eyes remained closed as she thought back to the genesis of the problem. Mary would never forget the blank look on Robbie’s face when she found him lying below the biggest tree in their yard.
She assumed he had fallen from the oak tree as she screamed for her husband to help. George had called for an ambulance that came and rushed Robbie into surgery. The trauma had caused his brain to swell and push down on his brain stem, shutting down his centers for arousal and awareness.
Mary had prayed constantly since the accident for God to take down the swelling and return her baby boy. The fifteen-year-old was just beginning his life.
The smell of burning rubber prompted Mary to open her eyes and scream. Her husband had a distant, lifeless look on his face and the flesh on his arms had turned bluish gray with red tracks of veins and arteries. George’s hand was wrapped firmly around Robbie’s right forearm. Her husband’s face started to take on the same disturbing shade as his arms and the red tracks bulged on his forehead and temples.
Mary screamed for help.
She ran over to the door and yelled again before rushing into the hallway. “HELP.”
A blond nurse with an upside-down name tag rushed up to her.
The nurse asked, “What’s the matter, ma’am?”
“It’s my husband. Something’s happened.” Mary couldn’t get any more words out and dragged the young lady into the room by her tiny wrist.
Mary entered and saw her husband standing up as if nothing had happened with a huge smile on his face. His skin had returned to its normal tanned tone. The blond nurse gave her a confused nod and backed out of the room. Mary was dumbfounded as her husband approached her.
He had a twinkle of excitement in his blue eyes as he said, “I saw him. I just saw him.”
“Saw who?” Mary asked.
George put his palm on the small of her back and pulled his wife in closer. He looked down at her. “Our son. I saw Robbie. He was walking, running actually, and smiling. It was amazing. He was on the corner of East Stanton and Dillsbury Road. I just put my hand on his forearm and off I went.”
Mary said, “Slow down, you look like you’re on drugs or something. I don’t know what’s going on here, but you looked dead about a minute ago and now you’re jumping around.”
Her husband rambled, “I couldn’t be more alive. Sit down here and let me explain.” He kissed her hand and helped her into the chair. “When I put my hand on Robbie, I was transported to some type of crazy dreamland. And he was there. He came and greeted me. He explained that I could do this again to see him, but there could be possible consequences.”
“Wait, wait. What consequences?” Mary asked.
George answered, “Robbie said that if I came to see him, I had to remember where I entered or I could die.”
Mary scoffed, “Die? Slow down for the sweet love of God. What do you mean, where you entered?”
George paused for a few moments and tried to control his breathing. “I mean our son is in some type of dystopian city environment. It looks like a video game with realistic, lifelike graphics, but I know that was Robbie. I asked him why he didn’t come out and he said that they wouldn’t let him come back until they were ready.”
Mary asked, “Who is they?”
Her husband leaned down and kissed her on the forehead. She could feel his soft mustache as he held the embrace. Those kisses used to bring her comfort.
“Who is they?” Mary repeated impatiently.
George said, “He wouldn’t tell me that. A short while after I put my hand on our son’s arm, I found myself looking at a ravaged city with a dull orange sky that looked like it had been bombed. Robbie came out of nowhere and greeted me. I got to hug our son. He squeezed me back. He told me that if I wandered too far from this return pad and got lost, my body would join his in a coma.”
Mary softly uttered, “Oh my goodness.”
Her husband barely let her finish before continuing, “He also said that if I was inside his body in the dreamland and someone pulled my body away in this hospital room, that I would d
ie.”
Mary couldn’t believe it. “I almost pulled you off him before I ran out to get help. I could have killed you. I don’t understand all of this.”
George said, “I’m not going to lie, I still don’t understand it either. It was like a lucid dream or video game graphics, good ones, but it felt so real. I can’t wait to go see him again. You should too.”
Mary disagreed, “You know how I feel about that weird paranormal stuff and those dark magic practices.”
Her husband laughed. “It’s not dark magic, or magic of any kind, I don’t think.”
Mary shook her head. “Well, it’s not exactly science either. What’s your explanation?”
George shrugged his shoulders. “I just said I don’t understand how it works, but it did indeed work. I witnessed it.”
A short, dark-skinned nurse entered the room.
She said, “Hello, somebody said there were screams coming from in here. I’m just popping in to make sure nothing is wrong.”
Mary tried to calm down. “Everything is fine now, thanks.”
The nurse left the room and Mary asked her husband, “Did he look happy? Robbie that is?”
George grinned and said, “He looked happy as can be and he asked about you. He said he hoped that you aren’t crying because of all this. He said he never wanted to make you sad.” George was getting emotional and stopped for a moment. “He said that he would be back to see us just as soon as they told him he could return.”
A glimmer of hope flashed through Mary’s weary body. “Did he say how long it would be?”
Her husband shook his head, “No. He didn’t give a timetable or anything, but he hoped that it would be soon.”
Mary wondered, “What do you think is the significance of the destroyed city? Why that?”
Her husband scratched a scab on his earlobe and responded, “Maybe a symbol of his body’s current condition? It looked like a futuristic city so maybe he somehow went forward in time travel. I think we should focus on what’s important and that’s Robbie is happy. I might go back in before we leave.”
