Chaos Legion : Recognizing The Beast Page 10

by Jada Tarrant

Heading back for the others, I knocked someone over and once my eyes looked over the man I became terrified. Nathan, uh-oh. Before he could look at me, I busted out into a sprint to cover myself in the crowd. It got the others giving me funny looks from the crew. Derek appeared to be attentive to what was going on as I approached. He whispered in my ear as he walked past me. “I'll take care of him,” he said, heading for Nathan. Hopefully he wouldn't hurt him, or else I'd feel guilty for the rest of my life.

But it seemed like I was too late with that thought as Derek and a few others were beginning to rough him up. Nathan ran straight to his Corvette and revved the engine as he skid the tires upon leaving. Burnout marks were visible in the ground. Well, tonight might be another night where I find him on the couch.

Derek and the others came back chuckling with a hefty grin on their faces. 'That's mean.' As if he heard me, he raised a brow. 'You're learning pretty quickly,' he shot back carelessly. I sighed as I turned my back on him to concentrate on my nerves. Everything was tense until someone had touched my shoulder, melting my insecurities away.

Then I turned around, catching a glimpse of someone's dark eyes. The person disappeared as my eyes frantically searched through the crowd. Something felt familiar about the way the person looked at me. Tensing at the thought, I rubbed my head. Maybe I should head home.

Besides, it was about two in the morning. I'm pretty sure Nathan knew I wasn't home even though I locked my bedroom door. Because if he looked outside by the window he could see how I left.

At my truck, I patted myself down as I tried to feel where my keys were. Did I lose them? No, they hadn't come off me all night. A low roar bursted out from my vehicle as it came to life. I jumped as I looked inside my truck. The person was familiar. DREW! He nearly scared the hell out of me, and it looked like he was pissed.

“Get in,” he growled as he opened the passenger door. The look on his face said I wasn't welcome, and it looked like a rash had broke out around his collarbone. Is he on drugs or something? That seemed to be the only logical thought I had as I got into the vehicle and the door slammed itself behind me. Oh boy, I'm in trouble.

Frustrated, Drew floored it all the way back to Nathan's. I sunk into my seat, knowing that the chaos was going to begin now.

Nathan was waiting in the doorway, with his arms crossed. His face was all bloodied up from earlier and I felt guilt creep up on me making my cheeks redden.

“You were there, weren't you?” he asked, pointing at the vest. “How did I not notice?” Drew looked like he was about ready to answer that.

“You're always sleeping,” Drew barked, holding me close to him. His pulse roared next to mine furiously in anger. “I didn't ask for much Nathan. Deal's going to be cut short if you don't hold up a little better.” Deal? What the hell is going on?

Drew hesitated, laughing at the confusion evident on my mind. His grip began to relax on my arm as I pushed against it and ran all the way into the bathroom to lock myself in there. All I heard was yelling after I closed my eyes.

“If I can't take care of her you know what's going to happen. Sure, Doom Crew is better than RAD. But she shouldn't be fighting a war that isn't hers. She has the urge for trouble like you and her other parents do,” Nathan yelled. Then it fell silent which made me curious. The anticipation was nearly killing me.

“Well, the reason I came was because I felt a connection ripped off. She took off the you-know-what,” Drew said. Then Nathan's mouth flew open. “We're in trouble then,” he said as Drew nodded in agreement. “What's your plan?”

“Keep her here,” Drew said, eyeing the bathroom. “Sleep when she's in school.” Agreeing, Nathan nodded. “And.” His head shot up, waiting for Drew's answer. “Share the memory we have with her. She'll never want to be in anyone's crew once she sees the hell we've been through.” Upon hearing the door slam shut, I crept out of the bathroom.

Nathan blocked the hallway that led to the entrance of my room. I shuffled my feet, hoping to get him to move but he wouldn't budge. There was no way he could keep me right here. So I bolted down the hallway, charging towards his room instead.

He was there instantly, and he spun me off my feet so fast that the room felt like it was levitating. The only thing that broke my fall was the bed as he hovered above me. This felt like an awkward moment in my life as I felt the heat from my body go up to my face. There seemed to be a lost expression on his face as his eyes were fixated on everything else other than my face. I hardened as his shadow covered me from head to toe. Shivering, I was completely scared since I saw the demonic glow take hold in his eyes. I knew he wasn't normal.

Nathan let his hand outline the features of my face as he took in a sigh. “Here we go,” he said as he pressed his fingers on the back of my temple. The room went black.

A door opened, and all I could see were people hard at work, chained to the ground. Is this hell? It definitely looked like it.

Someone's eyes looked up as the male approached him. Drew.

“What's going on?” the guy asked. Drew then let out a cynical laugh. “not much,” he said with a frown. “Got a way out for you angel.” The man appeared to be happy hearing those words.

“What do I have to do?” he asked. “Watch my daughter for me,” Drew said as he let his gaze wander among the others. “I'm able to get you out of here for a two year contract. Devil said so.” So he handed the paper over, watching the angel's interest grow. “I'll explain more when you're back up there.”

  CHAPTER 15

  DECEMBER 5TH, 2013

  WHEELERSBURG, OHIO

Haven't gone to a single Doom Crew meeting since Drew had visited, but a funny feeling stayed with me as he left. Somebody was watching me close by, and I knew it. The weird noises I heard at my window at night convinced me. It felt like someone was breathing down my neck, and it's becoming more noticeable by the week.

Nathan's actually home by the time I wake up in the morning. His face lit up with a smile as I entered the kitchen. The smell of food illuminated the room making my stomach rumble. But a question popped into my head the moment he started humming. What is he so happy about?

Still, I had to drive Derek to school, but everything became quite distant. After school I picked up an activity in the theatre designing for a play. Only a few people were painting with me, and they didn't seem to mind the moments I danced around. It was entertaining and helping me keep my mind off things.

“All right,” the dance instructor said as I was amiss dancing and painting. Our gazes locked on each other as he grinned wider. “Dancers are coming on stage to practice. You all go home.”

So I picked up my bags and sprinted for the door with the teachers gaze on me. It looked like he was waiting for me to ask a question, but instead I went straight to my vehicle and headed home.

A few envelopes sat out on the table in an orderly fashion. Bills, ads, and something from Drew. I picked it up, letting my fingers roam over the edges. Shouldn't open it. So I set it down, deleting the mystery it left with a shrug. None of it was my business anyway.

Since no one was home, I turned on the tv to Sirius radio. I couldn't choose between pop and electronic music so I left it on pop. A bunch of disney songs played whiled I twirled around cleaning up Nathan's usual mess.

My phone buzzed in my pocket in the middle of cleaning. Derek had sent a text and I had no intentions of opening it as I left the device on top of the tv. Cranking up the volume, I let the sound fill up the empty house.

In the middle of my dancing, I heard the music change. Avenged Sevenfold. Someone definitely changed the channel on me. Taking a dive for the living room, it looked like nobody was even there. Derek's here some where, I just know it.

As I quiet strode through the house, I figured that he was upstairs. So I sat outside the door I heard noise coming from, readying myself to pounce. Then the door opened and I jumped on him. “What the hell!” he cried out as I sat on him. “Get off.” Ignoring him,
I decided not to budge as it made him furious. And I wasn't worried as I had him pinned. He then let out a sigh. “Julies.”

Julies appeared behind me, studying me closely. A smile soon perked out of his grilling expression. “Let go of him please?” he asked softly. So I got up, watching Derek survey his surroundings. “He's not here,” Derek coughed as he inched closer to my face. “You may think that you're safe here, but things have been awfully quiet. Usually RAD isn't the type to be silent.”

Hearing that made me question what I had been feeling for the past few weeks. I wanted to say something but I decided it'd be better if I kept my mouth shut. They both left after they figured out they wouldn't find anything.

At about nine that evening I felt something icy pressing against my skin. I turned around, only to see that the window was open. So I shut it while I heard footsteps hitting the hardwood floor. Staying out of sight, I crawled my way slowly to the garage. Once I was there I killed the power to the house, hearing the person laugh. Then I quickly ran back to the group of lockers, hiding inside one of them. It was very uncomfortable, but I managed to shut the door without making a sound.

Ver-mm, the lights were back on. From the sounds of the person's footsteps, there was only one person here. But I held my breath, waiting for the person to leave. The noise got louder as he was nearer and I buried my head between my legs. I didn't want my glowing eyes to give out my location.

“I know you're here somewhere,” a familiar voice said, pacing between lockers. My heart began pumping quickly, but I kept my thoughts silent as the man was near.

About two lockers were slammed open right across from me, as the man looked only at the bottom rows where it'd be easier for me to teach. There was only about twenty more lockers to open, and I hoped he'd be giving up soon. He only sprung open the ones on the floor, giving me the hope that he'd leave.

The sound of his footsteps were gone, but I didn't believe he was gone yet. It didn't sound like any motorized vehicle had left for that matter so he had to be here. Staying still, I sat for maybe twenty minutes longer. My legs couldn't take the confined space anymore. So I slid out slowly, making sure no one was in here. Not a soul was in the room, but it didn't feel safe.

I heard the tv being popped on with my music, making my body sing to the beat. But I froze, not wanting to head towards the sound. 'Join me.' The voice was quiet, cheerful. But the fact that it was in my head worried me more.

My feet ached, and I dug my heels deep into the floor, pressing my ears flush to the door. It didn't sound like the guy was coming at all, since all I saw through the crack was someone dancing. Then he turned it off, heading my way.

BAM! He slammed into the door and I jumped back. At least the guy didn't open it. “All I want to do is see your face and have some fun,” he said, letting fear show in his voice. “Don't know why you want to hide from me.”

At that moment, guilt crept into my senses. I opened the door to see that the man was at least a foot taller than me. His unruly brown hair was in his face, masking the color of his eyes. Other than that, I didn't sense anything off about him, which is weird. Why did I run then?

A smile sprawled onto his face as he stared at me. Then he turned on the radio to some classical music to get close. The comfort his hands gave to my body felt unreal. Who is this guy?

“Who are you?” I asked and looked up. It appeared that he was more determined in his dancing than paying attention to anything else. His eyes flickered at me for a few moments later, confused. He began to grin. “Can you repeat that question?” he asked softly, kissing my ear. I could feel myself beginning to let go that moment.

“Who are you?” I asked and he stilled, matching my height. “Ben,” he breathed into my face as I saw a little sparkle in his eyes. My heart fluttered as soon as he laughed.

I couldn't help myself but look into his eyes. They were a crystal blue with a sense of maturity in them. On my tiptoes, I raised myself up and planted a kiss on his lips. He took me off my feet, hoisting me into his arms. Both of us were breathing heavily into each other.

“You sure you want to do this?” Ben asked as his hands fingered my belt. “You don't even know me.” Hearing that, it was a risk that I was willing to take at the moment.

Cramming my mouth against his, he moved limberly to match my kisses as he moved to my bedroom. Once I was in my bed he was at the foot of it, taking his clothes off. The only thing I noticed he still had on as he crawled on top of me was his boxers.

“You need help,” Ben whispered in mid-kiss, rearing to get my top off. I nodded, letting him slide his fingers under my shirt, whipping it off. The feverish kissing continued until I began to crave more, as he laughed at my thoughts. “You're reading my mind, aren't you?”

Then I swear I saw wings of some sort en veiling me inside of them as he went. His powers overwhelmed me greatly as I screamed in ecstasy each time. Ben had popped up near my face one last time, seeing the tuckered out look on my face, but it seemed like he wanted to do one last thing.

Passionately, he licked my ear as he went all the way down to my chest and back up. My heart ached as his unbearable smile came back. “You can sleep. All I'm going to do is love you a little longer.” Then I thought for a second, debating on whether I wanted to stay awake or not. Exhausted, I let my eyelids flicker to closed.

  ~ Derek~

7:40 am in the cold winter, and Jada hasn't even showed up yet. Checking his phone again, there were no messages. This woman better hurry up, my balls are freezing. He shivered, even though he had layered up for today. A flurry had picked up, and instead of sitting in it he decided to walk back inside. Not worth the sickness, he had hummed to himself.

“What's up? Your girlfriend not picking you up?” his cocky seven year old brother sneered. Derek growled, smelling the early rise of his brother's demon. “Not girlfriend. And you better watch it before that demon inside you eats you alive,” Derek barked. Hearing him say that, his brother had nothing to say as he feared the worst.

Still cold, he shoved his hands into his back pockets and paced around. Ding-dong-ding! The clock sang it's end of the hour song, meaning it was 8 o'clock. It worried him looking out the driveway and not seeing her there. Something just seemed, off...

Phone in hand, he dialed her cell and pressed it against his ear. He shut his eyes tightly, hoping that she would answer. “Hello?” the voice said, and it clearly wasn't feminine nor familiar. Fuck. So instead of answering them, he hung up. Hopefully she was home when Julies and him get there.

After calling Julies, he was in the driveway the next second. “Get in,” he said in a husky voice as Derek shut the door. “We better not be too late.” With that, Derek knew what he meant. The angel both of them had scented in her place wasn't there at the time they were there. Maybe RAD already had her. Shaking those thoughts aside, Julies and him entered the house. It reeked strongly of angelic magic.

Determined but anxious, Derek made a beeline for her bedroom. Surprisingly, she was here. It seemed like she was in a deep sleep, and once he touched her forehead his inner demon hissed. 'Angel screwed her. Kill him,' it ordered. Then he shook his head, Julies would be able to figure out more than he could.

Julies then proceeded to touch her face, only to feel that he had been burned. “She's been possessed, and by the feels and looks of it a branding spell was used,” Julies said, glaring at Derek. “We need Dave.”

Then Julies lifted the sheets, seeing that she only had a tank top on. The sight aroused his demonic state, but at the same time thinking about what the angel done disgusted it. “Get her dressed too.” So he slipped out of the room, only to have a thought stop him. “Without screwing her.”

Derek's eyes stayed low with obedience, but he managed to get her into some sweatpants and his oversized hoodie. It didn't ease him that she didn't rouse at all, and since her skin was cold he figured she was sick. Great, the moments I ignore her she needs me the most...

  ~Dave~

As usual, Dave was in the back room of the bar either socializing with the regulars or having a smoke. Well, now he was enjoying a smoke until he saw Julie's Dakota parked in the lot.

Past the doors opening, Dave's ears perked up and he smelled the demons coming. He let his eyes search around to realize that some of his men were here. Letting out a sigh he sat back in his chair and shut his eyes, only to open them to see Derek, Julies, and the girl? Dave let the confusion show, as he knew Julies would answer it.

“RAD struck. She's under some strong influence,” Julies said and pointed. Restless and tired, Dave got up to take her out of Derek's arms. A flash of anger had entered the young demon and faded upon him doing nothing. He let his eyes lock for a moment with the kid. “Clearly you shouldn't be here,” Dave said, raising his chin to Julies. “Take your friend away for a while so I can work my magic.”

By that, he meant that the same way the spell had been cast, he'd have to do the same to remove it. Dave wasn't too happy the moment the young one slipped into his arms. The spell was one of those attraction binding spells. Knowing that, it takes the spell twenty four hours to take full effect. He assumed he only had a few hours to fix her.

Once he put her down on the table, her jacket fell open to reveal that she was barely clothed. Taking a breath, he took a few steps back to the door and locked it. Dave didn't want anyone to see what he was about to do. It was very unangel-like, so someone probably seeing him do it would be a one way street to hell, and getting his wings torn off.

With that thought, he shucked off his jacket and unbuttoned his shirt. Taking another look at her he sighed. Maybe it won't be that bad. He had removed her jacket and let her pants hit the floor. Deciding it was time to start, he pressed his body against hers and tasted her mouth.

Even though her body responded immediately to his touches, she didn't wake. It frustrated him trying to find where the spell was buried at. Currently not in her mouth, ears, or nose, but somewhere rather deep. Looking down to her underwear gave him an idea. That sick bastard. With one swift hand he undid his pants and they fell to the ground. Hoping that she wouldn't wake up, he felt awkward doing so as he was naked. Vulnerable and exposed would be the words he'd use to place it.
