Dear Reader,
Since my books crossover a great deal, I recommend reading them as they are written. I tend to mention characters in books they don’t generally occur in, and later in the series, there are full crossovers.
Some readers have contacted me for this list, and I figured I’d pass it on to the rest of you.
While you can read the books by series only, it only enhances the reading experience if you go in order of how I wrote them. I tend to give away secrets…
I’m sneaky like that.
On the next page, I’ve given you the list.

It all comes down to this moment...
Sometimes, Elizabeth, the past can’t be forgotten. Sometimes, it’s all you have to save yourself…
“Men at some time are masters of their fates. The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves, that we are underlings.”
― William Shakespeare, Julius Caesar
Prologue
Washington DC
Thursday
T here was never a more amazing time to be alive. With technology, with advances in medicine, and with the dark recesses of the web, one could finally be who they were meant to be. No longer was there that hindrance that held you back and made you suffer in silence. Freedom was here, and it was simply there for the taking.
It was a new
age.
A new day.
A new world.
It was simply a matter of setting your destiny, preparing for your goal, and making your move. Anything was possible, and that was the beauty of it all.
After setting the world on fire back in Boston, the killer in him was now set free here in Washington D.C. He was free from his jail, free from the worldly prison and able to do his bidding without the worries of the world on his shoulders.
This was about repercussions.
This was about payback.
That was the only thing that would make this whole thing right. It was about leveling the field, settling the score, and getting remuneration for the sins against him.
For him, it was about the circle that had betrayed him, cost him everything, and made him suffer for years. While they would believe he was stoppable, he wasn’t.
He was anything but.
You could lock him in a cage, but he would still have his mind, and that…that was a horrible thing to waste. Since he still had his wits about him, he was a player in the game.
A dangerous one.
Nothing could stop him.
For now, he was free, and he was going to make the most of his time out in the world. For all these years, he had time to plot, plan, and get even with the people who did this to him. He had plenty of opportunities to learn, watch, and ready himself.
He was ready.
He was willing.
He was more than able.
Wandering the world with his freedom, he’d been able to keep an eye on them, thanks to the people on the street, some cash he’d stashed, and the fear of God.
No one wanted to mess with him.
No one.
There was a good reason for that. His time in their prison had made him nothing less than a monster. Everyone saw it, recognized it, and now feared it.
That was his leverage.
With that, he’d be victorious.
Time was on his side.
Since he still had that, he was going to make the best of it. He’d found the perfect person to do his bidding, and he’d trained him to do what had to be done.
He had his accomplice since he couldn’t pass it on to anyone in his family. He’d had to go outside his bloodlines to find the perfect animal to continue his reign of terror.
And he did.
Truthfully, he was satisfied with what he’d found too.
How could he not be?
This man was a fledgling mastermind in the works, just like he’d been when he started out in Boston, and he was glad they had teamed up. Before, he’d worked with others, but it wasn’t the same. He couldn’t trust them.
This man?
Oh, he could trust him to do the job, make it horrific, and take care of anything else he asked of him.
He was perfect.
He was evil.
He was malleable.
With those three things, he’d strike at the person who damaged him, locked him in that cage, and ruined everything that he’d had.
Simply put, those who did this to him would pay.
They would suffer for everything they’d put him through and he’d make sure of it. There would be no mercy, there’d be no way out, and there would only be their blood.
For he had no mercy in him, and he never would. You couldn’t get blood from a stone, and his soul was a boulder of wicked intent.
It was going to crush them.
This was only the beginning, and they had no idea what was coming.
By the end, he’d have Elizabeth LaRue—or whatever her name was now—in his sights.
Payback was coming for what she’d cost him in Boston. Kai Fitzpatrick was only the beginning.
He was only the first strike at him, and it was never forgotten. She’d strolled into Boston, destroyed his life, and nothing had ever been the same.
She’d pay.
If she wanted to play the game, she’d have to go against a man who had years of that prison, waiting, festering, and yearning for one last shot at her.
There would be only one.
There could be only one left standing.
It would be him.
Why?
Evil never died.
It was wicked and strong.
In fact, his retribution would be swift, fast, and knock her on her ass.
While she may have put a mob man in jail, put a bullet in Joey ‘The Thug’ O’Malley’s head, and end the wannabe ‘Boston Strangler’, she would never figure out how to stop him.
He was a different game.
He was the likes of things she’d never seen before, and never would.
Elizabeth Blackhawk was out of her league, and with hate on his side, she’d never stop him.
Never.
This battle was a long time coming, and after festering in the belly of the beast for all these years, it was going to catch her off guard.
He knew it would.
It was perfect.
Carl was a forgotten man, and that was the leverage he needed.
To her, this was over, said, and done.
As a young woman, she was brash, hardcore, and she had a few weaknesses. She only loved one thing beside her job, and that was that pathetic ME.
Now, her circle had grown, and he was going to make sure he found a way to put holes in it. She’d taken out the people he loved, and now he’d work his way right through her life, returning the favor.
Once he did that, she’d fall right into his hands. They couldn’t protect her forever.
No.
She’d be his before the week was out, and he’d be victorious. Payback was coming.
Like a storm.
Oh, this was not done.
He’d spent too long in that fucking prison they’d forced him into, and that was about to end.
He was on his way back.
He was going to be the one they feared.
He didn’t care who he had to take out in the process. He was going to make sure they all crumbled.
It was the least he could do to make them suffer, and suffer they would. He was sure of it.
This was their destiny, and when they were trapped in their own cages, they’d understand what he’d had to endure all of those years.
They would understand the pain he’d lived.
The humiliation.
The degradation.
They’d destroyed his life in Boston, and it had all started with Kai. Now it would end with him.
Payback.
It was coming.
It was coming for her.
From the car, he watched his apprentice across the street and in the mouth of the alley. He was following his instructions well, and that made him proud.
He’d learned.
He’d gathered that knowledge from the best killer of them all.
At that very moment, he was going to be taking his first victim after watching and training in the shadows of the night the last few weeks.
He was ready.
He was able.
Now his apprentice was going to show him what he could do. If he failed, he was on his own. If he succeeded, he was going to make him proud.
He needed him to be the best.
After all, time and circumstances had made him unable to carry on his plan on his own. He was aging, and it was time for a new breed of killers.
And this was it.
Watching, he noticed that the woman was heading toward his apprentice, and he was getting ready to strike.
There was the flash of steel in the streetlight, the way he backed into the shadows to protect himself, and the timing.
Oh, the glorious timing.
It made him giddy.
The end was near.
He could feel it.
This was the bad section of town, but this woman had been picked specifically to send a message. She was close to him, and once she was found, they’d all get why she had to be taken out. She mattered to him.
She was a fri
end.
Oh, payback was coming.
The game was afoot, and he couldn’t be prouder that he’d masterminded this from his own wickedness.
It was perfect.
Why?
She was someone that he saw each and every day, and that would send the clearest message when it was figured out.
How better to make them pay for what they did to him in Boston, to Joey ‘The Thug’, and to Kai?
This plan would get them the revenge they deserved. He’d bet on it.
But for now…
It was about to begin.
From where he sat in the safety of his vehicle, he watched the man lurking. The second their handpicked victim was in front of the mouth of the alley, he reached out, put his hand over her mouth and pulled her into the stench-filled bowels of that dark space.
It was done.
He’d taken her.
Now for the real test.
Pulling out his phone, he hit the timer to track how long it took his apprentice to do the deed.
He heard and saw nothing as he watched in anticipation.
It was killing him.
He was giddy with craving the results.
And like any ‘father’ he was nervous that his ‘child’ would screw it up. He’d adopted this apprentice as his own, and it was all on the line.
His name.
His reputation.
His gift to the world by way of murder.
This would be his trainee’s first kill, and he wanted to make sure his apprentice would get this right. He was too old to be doing the dirty work.
Now it was time for a younger generation to spring up and take over for the old-timers.
It was time for this man to make his mark in the world in the name of those who came before him.
He’d call him Carl Junior.
He’d call him the new wave of terror.
He’d call him…his.
A few minutes went by, and he was getting nervous as he watched the timer on his phone. It was taking a little too long, and he didn’t like it.
Not one bit.
This was the problem with watching and not being able to help. You couldn’t control all the variables.
And there were so damn many.
