“You aren’t going to take me up on my offer?” I stood up, took a step forward, and placed my hands on her hips, reeling her in. “Like I said, I wouldn’t mind the company.”

“Really, I don’t want to be a bother. I’ll be okay. I’m used to setting up camp and sleeping outside. It’s no big deal.”

I tightened my grip. “I know it’s not a big deal but I’d still like it if you stayed with me.”

She looked hesitant, fidgeting from foot to foot. As the seconds ticked by, she gnawed on her bottom lip. It took every ounce of my willpower to keep myself from pouncing on her right then and there. You really have no idea how much I wanted her. It was like putting an addict near a pile of dope.

  “Are you sure?”

“Mhm. In fact, I’m not going to take no for an answer.” I smirked, took her hand, and towed her inside.

She stopped, digging her feet in the ground to stop us from continuing forward.

  “What?” I asked, growing impatient.

“What about the fire? And the plates?”

“My security team will take care of it.”

“Wait.” She snatched her hand away from me. “You have a security team?”

  “Of course.”

“I thought you said you lived here all by yourself.”

  “I do.”

She looked over her shoulder. “Where are they?”

  “Why does it matter?”

“Because I don’t want a bunch of guys watching me when I don’t know where they are.”

I narrowed my eyes, trying to read her expression. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say she was up to no good. Her forehead wrinkled with her concern as her lips pressed together into a thin, hard line. Something was definitely getting underneath her skin. But what? “You aren’t hiding anything from me, are you?”

Her eyes widened like that of a deer caught in headlights. “No! Of course not.”

“Good.” I leaned forward. “Because if I find out you’re trying to steal from me again, you’re going to regret it. I may hand out second chances but I never forgive someone the second time around. You’d be wise to remember that.”

“Right...” She stammered, looking incredibly nervous.

But, I wasn’t about to crucify her just yet. I could have my fun with her first, right?

With this thought in mind, I once again took her hand and towed her up the stairs. This time, she followed without a struggle.

Once inside, I showed her to the guest room. “Make yourself at home.”

“This is really kind of you.” She placed her bag on the floor, nearly kicking it underneath the bed. I eyed it with suspicion. She was hiding something. I was almost sure of it. But, something was holding me back. I didn’t want to jump the gun and accuse her of something without knowing for certain that she was guilty. I truly wanted to believe that she was capable of change. We all do things we aren’t proud of when we’re kids.

“It’s nothing really.” I stepped forward until our bodies were no more than a few inches apart. Being that close to her sent a frenzy of energy racing through my heart. It thumped like wild, anticipating my next move. Hormones kicked in.

Her honeyed perfume played against my nose like it was trying to tempt me into action.

  I held my breath.

  No. I had to wait.

Sure, it had been a long, long time since I had any action but that wasn’t going to justify a stupid decision.

“There’s a bathroom just through the door. Why don’t you change into something a little more comfortable and then you can meet me downstairs? I’ll make us some tea.”

“Um... actually, I forgot to pack pajamas so do you mind if I borrowed something...” Her face turned bright red as she asked the question.

“You want to borrow something?” I chuckled. “You know, I bet you’d look pretty cute in one of my t-shirts. Hold on a second.” Quickly, I headed to my bedroom and searched the drawers for one of my smaller shirts. As I looked around, the thought of Kylie wearing nothing but my t-shirt kept me quite entertained. Those long, shapely legs on display. Her innocent face. Mmm. If I kept this up, there was no way I was going to keep my hands to myself tonight.

Finally, I found one. It was an old band tee. The fabric was still as soft as the day I bought it.

I knocked on her door. “Can I come in? You aren’t naked, are you?”

  “No!”

“No? So, you’re naked them?” I peeked my head inside only to have a pillow crash into my face.

“I said no, don’t come in.”

“Okay! Okay! No need to get so hostile.”

“Well, mind your manners, perv.” She laughed.

“So, you really were naked?” I sighed. “Well, there goes my chance at paradise.”

She opened the door, snatched the shirt out of my hand, and then disappeared.

  Click.

“Oh, come on. You can’t do this to me!” I banged on the door. “Just one little peak. It’s not going to hurt.”

  “Go to bed, Mr. Butler.”

“I can’t do that when there’s a beautiful woman in my house.”

“You’re the one who invited me to stay. It’s not my fault that I have no intention of sleeping with you.”

My shoulders sagged. Very rarely have I been rejected by a woman. Usually, they’re flocking all over me, trying to take a stab at my money. But, from the looks of it, Kylie wasn’t even remotely interested in what I had to offer. It seemed she really had changed.

Knowing better than to press my luck, I walked away. Downstairs, I placed a kettle to boil. As I waited, I grabbed a couple of slices of bread and made myself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. While Kylie’s meal had been absolutely delicious, I couldn’t go to bed without a snack.

  Whistle!

I took the kettle off the stove and poured the hot water into a mug, steeping it over a bag of earl gray.

“Enough for one more?” Kylie appeared out of nowhere, holding a mug in her hand.

“Of course,” I answered with a smile. It took every ounce of concentration to keep the water from spilling. My eyes wandered along her young body, drinking in the sight of her. She looked even more stunning than I could have imagined.

“You know, I might just have to keep this shirt all for myself. It’s super comfortable.”

  “It’s yours.”

She smiled and it was the kind of smile that just penetrated right through my soul. My skin tingled and my heart thumped louder than ever. This woman was affecting me in ways I hadn’t felt in a long, long time.

“PB and J, huh?” She grabbed the sandwiched and helped herself to an oversized bite. “My favorite.” She said as she wiped a bit of jelly from the corner of her lip.

I couldn’t help myself. I leaned forward, weaved my fingers into her hair, and pulled her in for a kiss. Her lips tasted incredibly sweet. They were warm and addicting. I held her even closer as our lips melded into one, like a couple of puzzle pieces that had finally found its match.

She melted into my embrace, lips parting slightly.

I took my chance, slipping my tongue into her mouth.

But then, she pulled away. She didn’t say a word but there was a mischievous look in her eye like she was up to no good. Silently, she took me by the hand and guided me into the living room where she sat down in front of the electric fireplace.

I grabbed the remote and turned it on.

“I never understood why people bought electric fireplaces. It’s just not the same.”

“Less work, I suppose. And, it serves the same function. Keeps the house warm all the same.”

“But, you don’t get the experience of a real fire. The crackling of the wood. The dancing flames.”

I sat down beside her and wrapped my arm around her waist. “I’m sorry for kissing you like that. I just couldn’t help myself.”

She giggled. “I don’t mind. I quite liked it myself.”

“Wait, you only liked it? I was hoping you
had loved it.”

She shook her head. “You’re a good kisser, Mr. Butler, but I’ve had better.” She said with a wink. The way she grinned, I could tell she was pulling my leg.

  “I’m highly offended.”

  “That’s your problem, not mine.”

I liked this girl. I liked her a lot. She was so different from other women. I could tell she was being genuine. And, I appreciated that.

  “How’s the tea?” I asked.

  “Hot.”

“What a coincidence. You’re hot too.”

She rolled her eyes. “You did not just say that.” Her hand rested on my thigh, patting it a consoling manner. “Because that was one of the lamest pick-up lines I’ve ever heard.”

“Can you tell I haven’t dated in a while?”

“Oh, it shows. It shows.” She chuckled. “But, I’m sure with a bit of practice, we could make you into a bachelor.”

  “I don’t want to be a bachelor.”

“So, what? You plan to live in this house by yourself for the rest of your life?”

  “No. I’ll find someone.”

“Not like that you won’t.” And, with this final boost of encouragement, she got up, offered a smile, and disappeared up the stairs.

I watched her butt bounce with every step. When she out of sight, I laid back on the rug and stared at the ceiling.

Had I made a mistake in inviting her to stay here? Maybe. I felt like I was pulling myself into a trap.

But, on the other hand, I really didn’t care.

Maybe being trapped wasn’t such a bad thing so long as I was trapped with her.

  Chapter 9 (Kylie)

  The next day.

I woke up with a fire burning between my legs. I moved my legs against the silk sheets, enjoying the softness. Mmm.

Slowly, my hand crept onto my thigh, fingertips moving closer and closer to my panties. I pulled them to the side to find that I was soaking wet.

Hmm, I wonder what I dreamt about to get this wet? But I already knew the answer: Roy Butler.

That kiss last night had left me frazzled. Even now, my lips tingled just thinking about it. He was like the missing link in my life and those few minutes of intimacy were all I needed to feel whole again.

Knowing I would only get myself into trouble if I stayed in bed, I rolled to my feet and looked at myself in the mirror. I really did look good in his shirt. I might just take him up on his offer and keep it.

Out of habit, I walked over to my bag and started looking for a clean outfit to wear only to remember that the bag didn’t belong to me at all. I made sure the door was locked before I took out the piece of jade and examined it.

“This thing is huge...” I whispered to myself. “This must be worth a fortune...”

A million and one thoughts skirted through my mind. What was I supposed to do? How would Roy react if he walked in and saw me holding something so valuable? Who did this belong to? Was it theirs or had they smuggled it in from somewhere?

  Knock. Knock.

I nearly jumped out of my skin. The jade flew out of my hand like a volleyball about to get served. I rushed forward, hands outstretched to catch it but I missed entirely.

  Thud.

  It crashed into the carpet.

“You okay in there?” Roy called out.

“Totally fine!” I responded. “Absolutely fine.”

Silence. I couldn’t even move. I just stood there like a statue, my lungs burning for oxygen as I held my breath.

  Jiggle.

My eyes widened. The doorknob shook as he tried to open the door. “You can’t come in here!” I cried. “I’m not decent!”

“Seems like all the more reason for me to come in.” His voice was low and seductive. And, after my dream, oh, I wanted it. You don’t even know how badly I wanted it.

  Silence.

“Did you lock the door?” He asked.

“I didn’t want you getting the wrong idea.”

“You’re such a mood killer.” He groaned. “And that’s the second time you’ve offended me. Anyway, I was wondering if you wanted to go down to the waterside.”

  “Waterside?”

“It’s very beautiful. I think you would like it. Hey, you could even write about it in your blog!”

“Right...” My blog. After everything that had happened, the blog was the furthest thing from my mind. “I’ll be out in just a second,” I said before getting down on my knees and retrieving the jade.

Just act natural, Kylie. Yeah, well, that’s easier said than done.

AFTER A SHORT, TEN-minute hike we arrived at the shore.

“Here, let me help.” Roy offered his hand as we descended the rocks.

“You know, I’ve done this a million times before. I probably have more experience than you do.”

“Probably, but that won’t stop me from trying to help you.” He took my hand and eased me down the slope. His grip was firm but not too firm.

As I jumped down, I felt weightless. Roy was supporting all my weight and somehow, he made it look so easy. Look, I’m not the thinnest girl in the world. I definitely have some meat on my bones. What he did was pretty impressive.

Once we reached the sand, I kicked off my shoes.

“You’re going to have to take off much more than that,” Roy said as he took off his shirt. The next thing I knew, his pants were hitting the ground and there he was, standing in nothing more than his underwear.

  My heart skipped a beat.

  Oh. My. God.

“Like what you see?” He teased with a wink. And then he dove into a natural pool, disappearing into the water.

I hesitated for a moment. What was I supposed to do? Follow his example?

“Come on! The water’s great!” He called out. “And, if you don’t get in here soon, I’m going to have to drag you in.”

“Alright, alright. I’m coming.” I took off my shirt and then my shorts.

Roy looked at me with an obvious hunger in his eyes. He wanted me. Well, I was going to give him one hell of a show.

I hooked my thumbs into the waistband of my panties and took them off inch by inch. Then I popped off my bra and threw it to the side. Standing completely naked, I grinned down at him. “When I do something, I always go all the way.” And so, without thinking, I jumped into the water.

To my unpleasant surprise, it was bitterly cold. My nipples hardened into miniature diamonds. My breathing became ragged.

I rushed to the surface, teeth chattering.

Roy was on me in a second. His strong arms wrapped around me, reeling me into his body. Somehow, his body still radiated with warmth.

I tossed my arms around his neck.

  Our eyes locked.

Deep down, I knew this was a bad idea. I shouldn’t get attached. Nothing good ever comes from attachment. Someone always gets hurt.

But, at the same time, I wanted this – I needed this. The fire burning inside of me had transformed into an inferno and there was no stopping it now.

Our lips collided. Sparks flew. My heart raced.

His hands roamed along every inch of my body before settling on my ass. He squeezed it hard, causing me to moan ever so slightly.

“Oh, we’re going to have a lot of fun together...” He whispered into my ear.

  “Mmm, I’d like that.”

“Don’t worry, baby girl, you’re going to do much more than just like it.” His hand slipped between my legs. There, he found my eager lips. He pinched my clit between his thumb and forefinger, rolling it back and forth.

I bit my bottom lip to keep from moaning.

He grinned. “How does that feel?”

“Amazing.” I breathed. My skin tingled with excitement. “Don’t stop.”

“I haven’t even started yet.” He waded over to shallow water. With his eyes burning with lust, he leaned down, took one of my nipples into my mouth and started flicking it back and forth with his tongue.

  “Mmm!” He circled my sen
sitive areola causing goosebumps to ripple along my arm. “That feels so good.”

Suddenly, his middle finger rammed into my hole.

I gasped, lips frozen in the shape of an ‘o.’

He started to pump it in and out, faster and faster with each passing second.

“I want you...” I begged, pulling at his hair to bring him in for a kiss. As our lips danced together, tongues twisting, it spoke all my desires – all my fantasies.

He knew exactly what I wanted and he was going to give it to me.

With his hands on my ass, he carried me toward the water’s edge. There, he put me down and dropped between my legs. Before I could even say a word, his tongue dove between my folds, lapping up every drop of nectar I had to offer him. His fingers dug into my thighs as he lifted my hips off the ground so he could probe his tongue even deeper, tasting me straight from the source.

I moaned, clawing at the sand. My toes curled with pleasure. I was loving every second of this. I didn’t want him to stop.

  “Roy...”

He looked up at me, dark eyes burning. “What’s the matter, baby girl?” He asked just to tease me.

When I couldn’t find the words to answer him, he gently blew on my clit. It was a strange feeling but nonetheless pleasurable.

Gently, he ran his fingertips along my thighs, knowing fully well that my body was hypersensitive in its pre-orgasmic state.

“Please...” I whispered, desperately needing release. He couldn’t just build me up to near climax and then leave me hanging. It was unusually cruel.

“What is it? What’s the matter?”

I blushed. Was he really going to make me beg for it?

  “Please... I need it.”

  “Need what?” He taunted.

  “You.”

“You’re going to have to be more specific than that.” He whispered as he rolled one of my nipples between his fingers, side to side, side to side. It was driving me crazy. This guy knew exactly how to play my body, pinpointing the most sensitive areas. Oh, if he kept this up, I was sure to lose my mind.

“I want you. Inside of me. Stretching every inch of me. Making me feel amazing. Rock my world, Roy.” He didn’t need to be told twice.

He pinned my hands above my head. “Are you ready for it?”
