Perfect Ruin (Unyielding #2) Page 32

Kissing my shoulder before he rolled to the side and onto his back, his cock slipped from me and warm liquid trickled down my inner thigh. He brought me with him so I was tucked into his side while his hand went to the back of my head to bring it to rest on his chest.

My leg thrown over his, sheet tangled at our feet, he stroked my hair as we both caught our breath.

He kissed the top of my head. “London.” I tilted my neck so I could look up at him. “Loving you is like finding the light. I can’t ever lose that again, baby. I won’t.”

I slid my hand up over his chest, the rough scars beneath my palms until my finger brushed his lips. “The light was always there, you just had to believe it was. And I’m not going anywhere.”

He lowered his head and I moved up to meet his lips.

It was a slow, tantalizing kiss that caused goose bumps and quivers, and made me want him all over again.

When he drew back, his cocky smirk was there. I loved that smirk. I loved that he could change in a flash from serious to playful to intense. But most of all, I loved that he was resilient. Unyielding. Kai never gave up.

He never gave up on me.

  “Hon?”

“Fuck,” he muttered beneath his breath.

“What?” I asked, frowning and sitting up.

  “Like you calling me hon.”

“Oh.” I liked calling him that, too. I lifted and threw my leg over his thighs so I straddled him. “I’ll make you a deal.”

  His brows lifted. “A deal?”

I nodded then slid my hands down his chest and wiggled my butt on top of him.

His hands settled on my hips and he chuckled. “Another deal? You are brave.”

“Mmmm,” I murmured as I moved down his body, my hand inches from his cock and yet not touching.

“What do you have in mind?” He grabbed my wrist, stopping my hand that was about to wrap around his cock.

I smiled at him. “That if I can make you beg—”

He burst out laughing. I frowned.

“Oh, baby, you can try and I will enjoy you trying, but I don’t beg—ever.” He let go of me. Putting his hands behind his head, he appeared casual and completely relaxed as if he were going to enjoy this. “But please, go right ahead.”

I slowly licked my lips and his eyes darted to them. I inwardly smiled, knowing he was already thinking about my wet mouth wrapped around him. “And if you beg?”

He shrugged. “Whatever you desire, baby.”

I had him. “We arrive on time to the party and we stay until I want to leave.”

He grinned. “Sure. But if you lose, then tonight I fuck you any way I desire.”

I rolled my eyes. “You do that already.”

“True. But I was thinking about something involving ice cubes and hot wax.”

Shit. Kai may love me, but he still liked to push my limits.

  “Okay. Time limit?” I asked.

He shook his head. “Nope. Take your sweet-ass time.”

“Oh, I will,” I whispered. Then I climbed off him and the bed.

His cocky grin faded and he frowned. “What are you doing?”

“Taking my sweet-ass time. And since I’m winning I thought I’d shower and save time. Multi-tasking, hon,” I replied then strolled into the bathroom and turned on the light. I glanced in the mirror and saw him sit up. He could see my reflection perfectly. I bent and turned on the shower and when it was warm enough, I stepped inside.

I left the door open, glancing in the mirror. He was watching me, his cock jutting up between his legs, scowl fierce. Kai was patient, but so was I.

I reached for the soap then slowly lathered my body, taking my time, my hands caressing, stroking while I closed my eyes and lost myself to the intense pleasure of having his eyes on me while I touched myself. It was when I started panting as I circled the sweet spot that I heard him come into the bathroom.

He leaned his hard, naked body against the counter, ankles crossed to match his arms. Every one of his muscles were tense. By his scowl, he was unhappy, but by the intensity and the smoldering heat in his eyes, he was definitely losing the battle.

I leaned forward, palm on the tiled wall to support my quivering legs, water trickling over my skin as I played with myself. I was close to coming so I stopped. I didn’t want to. Not yet. I needed to wait.

I ran my palm up over my abdomen to my breasts, then with my finger circled one nipple then the other. I knew Kai. I’d seen him lose control. And when I opened my eyes again and stared at him, I saw the wild, raw look in his expression. The flare of need. The tension ready to break.

I bent, turned off the water, stepped from the shower, and then took the two steps to reach him. I didn’t touch. Instead, I trailed my eyes down his body then back up again. Then I smiled.

His brows lifted. “I hope you have more than that.”

“Oh, I’ve just begun.” I stepped closer, so the heated wetness from my skin sank into his. I lowered my voice, mouth inches from his. “You’ve taught me something, Kai. That getting what you want takes persistence and determination. That you never give up, no matter the odds.” His brows dropped, and I ran my hand down the front of him, stopping when the pad of my finger brushed the tip of his cock.

He growled, but didn’t move to touch me.

Then I stood on my tiptoes, my lips close to his ear, erect nipples against his chest. “All you have to do is say ‘please, London,’ and I’m yours.”

His eyes narrowed. “You’re already mine.”

“Mmmm,” I murmured. “True. And now I’m going to show you that you’re mine.”

  Kai was unhappy.

We walked into the bar Avalanche an hour late with my legs still tingling and my cheeks flushed. Kai didn’t actually beg, because he lost control and fucked me on the bathroom counter. It was decided we both won and so here we were. He was giving me two hours before he took me home so he could get his part of the deal—fucking me any way he chose—and, despite being a little nervous, it also got me really wet thinking about it.

“London. Kai,” Chess cried over the loud music and rushed toward us. Tristan, whose arm she shoved off in order to get to us, remained standing at the bar, but his eyes never left her. He nodded to us, raising his beer.

Chess hugged me then stood on her tiptoes and kissed her brother’s cheek. I smelled strawberry on her breath, and her eyes were glassy and bright. She’d obviously been into the alcohol already.

“You got him to come,” she said to me.

  Kai answered, “Yeah, several times.”

She rolled her eyes at her brother then took my hand. “Come on, you need a drink. Brett makes the best strawberry daiquiris, although he complains while doing it. Oh, and you have to meet Catalina. She’s working here now. Matt hired her a couple weeks ago.” I’d met Matt, Kat’s brother, when I’d been staying in Toronto before the Alfonzo shit went down. I hadn’t met Catalina, but I’d heard about her. Heard who her husband had been and knew Connor and her had history, although I didn’t know what that history had been.

Kai squeezed my hand. “Need to talk to Deck. Go with Chess. Be there in a sec.”

  “To congratulate him?”

He tugged me in to him, and my hand slipped from Chess’s. Then he bent and kissed me briefly. “Business.”

“It’s his engagement party, Kai,” I said aghast.

He shrugged while grinning, and then I watched him casually walk through the crowd, knowing he wasn’t happy to be here, but doing it anyway for me.

He looked hot tonight, well he always did, but he dressed in fitted jeans hanging low on his hips with a white dress shirt. It was Kai being relaxed, and it was sexy as hell and all I could think about as I watched him shake Deck’s hand, then Vic’s, Tyler’s and Josh’s, was that he was mine. I had a feeling that leaving early was going to be my idea.

Chess nudged my shoulder. “Drinks. My brother has had you for weeks. We have sisterly bonding to do.”

&
nbsp; “Huh?” Sisterly?

She grabbed my hand and laughed. “You think my brother won’t do everything in his power to make certain you stay his?” She tugged me toward the bar. “I give it a month before he has that piece of paper in his hand.”

I laughed. “Kai doesn’t care about a legal document saying I’m his.”

She looked over her shoulder at me. “True. But he’ll definitely want to marry you before Deck marries Georgie. That testosterone rivalry thing between them.”

I laughed. That was more than likely, but, like Kai, I didn’t need a piece of paper to say I was legally his.

“London,” Tristan said and leaned toward me, kissing my cheek, and then reached for a fancy glass with red icy liquid off the bar and passed it to me.

I sipped the cool drink and we chatted about the progress on the house and Trick, one of the kids that Chess and Tristan were trying to legally adopt.

Soon, Emily, Georgie, and Kat came over and joined us. Tristan slipped away and left us girls to giggle and drink our daiquiris, which I soon discovered were rather potent. I wasn’t used to drinking alcohol, so my tolerance was zilch.

It was nice. I hadn’t had girlfriends in a long time, and it felt good to chat and laugh and drink. In a few months, I was starting at the University of Toronto to finish my degree, and I was already volunteering at a homeless shelter close to Kai’s loft.

A hand settled on my hip and I smiled, tilting my head back to meet Kai’s lips. “Baby,” he murmured against my mouth. Then his arm came around my waist and he tugged my back into his chest.

“What were you men talking about? It looked intense.” It had. I saw Vic arguing with Deck after Kai had said something.

  “Business.”

“Everything okay?” I took a sip of my drink.

He lowered his mouth to my ear and whispered, “Going into business together.”

Daiquiri sprayed from my mouth and luckily no one was in front of me. I wiped my mouth with the napkin under the base of the glass then turned in his arms. “You’re not serious.”

But the second my eyes met his and I saw the spark with his grin, I knew he was. “That’s what Vic was angry about.”

He nodded. “One of the things. He thinks it’s a bad idea.”

  “And Deck doesn’t?”

Kai’s hand on my lower back slid over my ass and back up again. I was wearing a little black dress with a scoop neck and a low back. It was tight and stretchy, and I liked it because it was sexy, but not too revealing. But mostly I liked it because Kai helped me pick it out at the store. He swore it was the one and only time he’d accompany me to the mall.

“Deck knows I’m good at what I do. And changing Vault’s direction is in his best interest. We merge and gradually shift those still involved with Vault to the way we want it to go.” He cupped my chin and his thumb rubbed a spot at the corner of my mouth where I probably still had daiquiri. “Deck’s morals differ from mine, so we’ll clash, but we’ve found a common footing in that we want the same thing.”

  “Why else was Vic angry?”

He grinned. “I told him to go get me a drink.”

  I laughed.

“London.” Georgie came up beside us with a dark brunette who had sun-tanned skin and dark, almost black eyes with long lashes. She was curvy, wide hips with average breasts. Her features were gentle and soft, except for her high-cheekbones. “This is Catalina.”

I pulled out of Kai’s arms, but he kept his hand resting on my lower back.

I reached forward and shook Catalina’s hand. “Hi. Nice to meet you.” Her grip was strong, but there was a hesitation before she took it.

Kai nodded. “Catalina.” I knew that they’d met in Colombia and also what her story was. It wasn’t a good one.

She glanced at Kai then back to me. “Hey.”

“I talked to Matt. He said you can hang with us for a while,” Georgie said. “Brett and Jen can handle it.”

“Thanks, but I just started this job and want to make a good impression.”

Georgie laughed. “No need to impress Matt. That sexy cupcake is sweet on all his girls.”

But Catalina was already moving away and disappeared into the crowd.

Georgie turned back to us, sighing. “I want to help her, I just don’t know how. I know she meant something to my brother. He’d want that.”

According to Kai, Deck told Georgie exactly what happened in Colombia including Connor showing up and what he’d said. But like Kai, Deck would never lie to Georgie and I could tell from the strained look on her face that she was still struggling with the fact her brother had wanted her to think he was dead meaning he had no intention of coming back.

There was a loud commotion when the music shut down, and people started shifting around wondering what was going on when Deck stepped up onto the stage and grabbed the microphone.

“Holy crap,” Georgie exclaimed, mouth dropping. “What’s he doing?”

“Not my thing, standing up here,” Deck said into the microphone and his deep, gravelly voice echoed through the room.

There was clapping and a few whistles and catcalls, but Deck ignored them as his eyes sifted through the crowd until they locked on Georgie standing beside me. The crowd turned to look where Deck was focused.

“My girl has agreed to be mine in the eyes of the law, but she’s been mine since I first laid eyes on her.”

“When she was illegal,” Tyler hooted, and everyone laughed except Deck, but there was a slight pull at the corner of his mouth.

“We have history. Some not so good, but it’s history and it’s ours. She’s been a pain in my ass for years.” There was laughter. “And I suspect for many more.” More laughter. “But there was never a time I didn’t want her. Never a time I didn’t love her. And there will never be a time.” I sighed, along with all the other girls in the room. “I keep my shit private.” There was a subtle chuckle from the crowd. “But the fact that I love her, that’s not private. That’s something I want everyone to know.” I smiled and Kai huffed, but when I glanced up at him, he was nodding as he watched Deck, eyes showing admiration. “Love you, Georgie.”

Georgie slipped past me, and I caught a glimpse of tears staining her cheeks. It was a lot for Deck to get up there and talk because he was private. But Georgie wasn’t and Deck did it for her.

In two leaps she was on stage and in Deck’s arms. He staggered back a step because she went full throttle into him with her legs wrapping around his waist and arms hooking his neck before her mouth was on his. She kissed him and then he took control and kissed her while everyone cheered.

  “Sing!” Tyler shouted.

That got a mild laugh out of Deck as he lowered Georgie to her feet, but didn’t let her go. “Thank you to everyone for coming. And I’m not going to sing but these guys made a special trip back to Toronto from their tour in order to play for us tonight.”

That’s when the crowd went wild as Sculpt, aka Logan, Ream, Crisis and Kite came out on stage. Deck relinquished Georgie to the boys as they each hugged her. There was a beautiful blonde girl on the side stage who had her eyes locked on Crisis. He turned and winked at her before he picked up his guitar.

Deck and Georgie came off the stage, and then the place went wild as the band hit it with their current number one song aptly named “Avalanche.” But it wasn’t about the bar, it was a love story of how a girl’s heart shattered when the guy she loved died. Like an unstoppable avalanche, her life altered from joy and hope to suffocating in despair. It was haunting and beautiful at the same time, but it was the ending that brought tears to my eyes when the girl found a speck of light through the darkness and fought back. When she learned to live again.

I swayed to the music while Kai held me, and I’d never been happier. We stayed like that for two songs before I turned into him and tilted my head up about to ask him if we could leave because I wanted Kai to take me home.

But before my eyes met his, I caught a glimpse
of Catalina up against the wall in the shadows of the bar. A man towered over her, one hand on her hip and the other above her head, his palm resting on the wall. They were fifty feet away from me, and there was a dim yellow light above them. It was obvious Catalina was in shock, because her eyes were wide and her body defensive as she had her hands up on his chest as if to ward him off.

He was talking rapidly, and from his tense, muscled body, he was angry, but I was unable to see his face. I gasped when he pushed back then punched the wall beside her.

Catalina said something then reached out, her hands curling into his shirt. He didn’t move for a second, and then his shoulders sagged and he stepped back into her. His head bowed then dropped into the curve of her neck.

“Babe? What’s up?” Kai asked, his arms giving me a gentle squeeze.

“I think Catalina is having trouble with one of the guests. Or not. I’m not sure.”

His eyes darted to where I was looking and he stiffened. “Fuck.”

“You know who it is?” I couldn’t see the guy’s face, but Kai obviously didn’t need to.

  “Connor,” Kai said.

  “Perfect Rage”

  To the readers,

Kai and London (aka Raven) were first introduced in Torn from You two years ago and I’ve been dying to write their story ever since. Kai was such a mystery, but through writing Perfect Ruin I grew to understand him and love him more than any other character. This couple will always have a piece of my heart. I hope you enjoyed reading Perfect Ruin as much as I did writing it. I’m truly honored and grateful for your continued support.

  Hugs,

  Nash xo
