Sophia screamed.
Tyrex began to fall but was able to jump at the last moment before the column collapsed. His hand grasped a new stone column that was off the straight pathway. He dangled by one hand, his feet barely grazing the points of the spikes below.
“Oh my god, Tyrex!” Sophia wasn't about to let him fall to his death. She jumped to a stone column that hadn't been touched before. She quickly assessed a pathway of columns that hadn't been stepped on yet and that would also get her to Tyrex the fastest.
Tyrex's grip on the edge of the column was beginning to slip. He tried to find a foothold but his feet kept slipping on the smooth stone.
Sophia jumped from column to column until she made it to the one that Tyrex was hanging from. She reached down to the one hand gripping the stone. “Give me your other hand, Tyrex.”
Tyrex shook his head. “No, I don't want to pull you with me.”
“Dammit Tyrex. Give me your fucking hand!”
Tyrex had never heard a female use such harsh language before. She truly was from another planet. Tyrex strained as he reached up with his other hand. Sophia grasped it and pulled hard, her every muscle doing its job.
Sophia was able to lift Tyrex up enough for him to pull himself up the rest of the way.
They both collapsed into a heap of heavy breathing on the small stone column. “You were right about Earth women.”
“And what was that?”
Tyrex kissed her. “That they are equal with males.” Tyrex stood up and helped her up.
“We better get off this or we'll both be at the bottom of the pit. We need to each step on columns that haven't been touched before.”
Tyrex agreed. “I'll go right and you go left.”
Sophia nodded. They both jumped to their respective columns. One after another until they both stepped on the other side at the same time.
“Lets not do that again,” Sophia said.
“Don't have to tell me twice.”
They each went to one wheel and began to turn it. The wall started moving upwards until it finally reached the top and stayed there.
The room beyond was complete darkness.
“How many couples survive the Trials?” Sophia asked, standing before the unknown abyss.
“Hard to say. I never knew that the Trials were so dangerous. When I heard of people dying, I believed it to be that they never found their Intended.”
“Well we aren't going to let those Council of Elders win.”
Sophia took his hand and they both entered the darkness.
Chapter Twenty-One
Tyrex and Sophia entered the dark room and the wall behind them closed until they were completely blacked out. Visibility was so bad that they couldn't even see each other.
“What do we do now?” Sophia asked.
“Feel around for walls. Maybe we can find a switch or something.”
Sophia didn't remember ever seeing any electricity in his village. “Do you have light switches on Jeorn?”
“What is that?”
“Nevermind,” she replied, feeling around for any solid surface.
“I'm not finding anything,” Tyrex said.
“Me either,” Sophia replied.
The darkness was suddenly replaced with a blinding light. Tyrex and Sophia had to shield their eyes. When they finally adjusted, they found themselves lying on the ground of the Council chamber floor. In the same spot that they were drugged.
“What's going on?” Tyrex asked as he rubbed his eyes.
“My head feels so hazy,” Sophia said.
“Congratulations, Tyrex and Sophia,” the oldest Council Elder announced. “You have passed the Trials.”
Tyrex looked up to see the entire Council of Elders standing before them. “It's over?” he asked.
The oldest member nodded his head. “You both performed admirably.”
Sophia breathed a sigh of relief. “Thank god. I thought we were going to die in there.”
“We must confess that the Council had made a mistake in forbidding the Joining of you two. Even the Elders need guidance from time to time. Your neighbors made that abundantly clear.”
Tyrex took Sophia's hand and they both bowed to the Council. “We both thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
“The Council of Elders give you permission to be Joined.”
Tyrex didn't want to remind them that they were already Joined.
Twice.
He embraced Sophia and kissed her gently. “It's over now.”
“Are we married?” she replied.
Tyrex nodded and kissed her again. “Let's get Joined for real this time,” he whispered in her ear.
Sophia's eyes lit up. “Yes please.”
–
Tyrex laid his Intended onto the soft blanket in the middle of his room.
Sophia lay naked, longingly staring into Tyrex's eyes. “You're all mine now,” she said.
Tyrex nodded, kissing her stomach, moving up past her breasts and to her lips. Sophia shivered from the pleasure. His tongue teased her own as they kissed, Tyrex's hand massaging her breasts.
Sophia broke away. “Do I get to take your last name.”
“You are a member of my clan now, Sophia Luk'ta.”
She smiled and kissed him again. Her bare legs wrapped his strong naked waist. “I need you, my Intended.”
Sophia was slick and ready as he entered her. They both screamed in ecstasy. She pressed her nails into Tyrex's back dimples, helping him go deeper.
“You feel so good,” Tyrex groaned. He pumped in and out slowly, his cock throbbing with every thrust.
Tyrex kissed her neck, lightly biting all the way down her shoulder. The pleasure was too much to handle. She couldn't hang on much longer. “I'm close, Tyrex. Be one with me.”
Tyrex picked up speed, forcing his cock further and further inside. Sophia bounced as he drove into her.
Sophia shuddered, her orgasm taking over, her legs locked tight around Tyrex. Her head swirled with ecstasy.
He unloaded inside, every muscle in his body straining.
Tyrex finished and collapsed on top of Sophia, both of them wet with sweat. They enjoyed listening to their heavy breathing for a few moments, reliving every moment of their lovemaking.
“We're officially Joined now, Sophia Luk'ta.”
Sophia hugged Tyrex, his semen spilling out of her. She finally felt like she was home. She no longer cared about getting rescued. Nothing could tear her away from her Intended.
She was a Luk'ta now.
Epilogue
Three Months Later
“Sophia, can you place the plates onto the dinner table,” Lija asked.
“Yes, Mother,” Sophia replied. She grabbed the stack of plates from the kitchen and carried them over. A queasy feeling swept over her. The room began to swim. She barely made it to the table without falling over. She placed the plates on the table and then ran to the bathroom.
There were no toilets on Jeorn. Just a hole in the ground. Wasn't the most sanitary or pretty but it did its job.
Sophia hovered over the hole, not able to stop her breakfast from coming back up. She pulled her hair from her face and vomited again.
Lija walked in. “Are you okay, Sophia?”
Sophia nodded. “Must've been something I ate. I thought I had gotten used to most of the Jeorn cuisine.” The nausea began to pass and Sophia washed her face in the water basin.
Lija handed her a towel. “When was your last bloodflow, my daughter.”
Sophia suddenly shot up. “It's been a couple months since my last period.” She hadn't even noticed it was gone. She was too caught up in the tornado of love.
“This is great news, Sophia.”
She didn't know how to respond. “But I didn't even think it was possible. We're different species.”
Lija put her hand on Sophia's belly. “Tyrex will be so pleased.”
Sophia felt a surge of happiness. She'd always wanted a baby. No
w Tyrex and her could be a real family.
“Are you sure he will be pleased?” A million thoughts ran through her head. What if Tyrex doesn't want a baby? She couldn't stomach the thought of him leaving her. Tyrex was her whole life.
“Sophia Luk'ta, I know my son. He will be beyond pleased. You know that deep down.”
Sophia did know that. Tyrex loved her and would be beyond excited to hear the news. “But I don't even know for sure that I'm pregnant.”
“But I know for sure.” Lija raised her hand and Sophia remembered her touching her stomach.
“You mean you can tell just from touching me.”
“It is a gift of Jeorn females. You are with child, Sophia Luk'ta.”
Tears streamed down Sophia's cheeks. She couldn't help it. “When should I tell Tyrex?”
“You mustn't wait. He will want to hear the news immediately.” Lija pushed Sophia out of the bathroom with a smile on her face.
Sophia walked slowly to their bedroom, going over in her head of exactly what to say.
Tyrex was making their bed when she walked in. Sophia remembered this morning when her Intended couldn't control himself and have her over and over again.
“You look a little pale, my Intended,” he said. “Are you feeling all right.”
“I actually feel amazing. I have some news to tell you.”
Tyrex's face turned to concern. He went to Sophia and held both her hands. “What is wrong?”
Sophia couldn't stop from crying. Tyrex wiped a tear from her cheek. “I'm with child, Tyrex.”
Tyrex dropped her hands. He backed away from her with his jaw to the floor. “Are you telling the truth?”
Sophia winced. She didn't know if he was horrified or caught off guard. She stepped forward and took his hands. “It's true, Tyrex.”
Tears formed in his eyes. “We're going to have a family of our own?”
Sophia nodded.
Tyrex bear hugged Sophia, picking her up off her feet. “We're going to have a child!”
He swung Sophia through the air, spinning her round and round. The nausea began to creep back. “You're going to have to put me down.”
Tyrex stopped and set her down, his smile a mile wide. “Is it a boy or a girl?”
“Well I don't know yet.”
“But Jeorn females always know what child is going to be.”
Sophia laughed. “Sorry Tyrex, but on Earth a doctor has to tell a female what the child is going to be.”
Tyrex couldn't stop smiling. “We must tell Mother and Father!”
Sophia laughed as Tyrex ran around the hut, screaming about their new child.
She couldn't believe the circumstances that led her to this wonderful new life.
All the obstacles they needed to conquer to be together.
And it was all worth it.
Tyrex was the one she had always been searching for.
She found the perfect life on a planet that hadn't even been discovered yet.
And their life was only going to get better.

Description
Before Winter came into my life...
I only cared about getting into bed with the next one on the list.
Now, the sight of her makes time freeze and I forget about everyone else.
But the coming storm is catching up to me and Winter will get caught in the mayhem.
I'll do whatever it takes to safe guard her.
Nobody f*cks with me and my woman.
Chapter One
Winter
Shit! I arrived at the Emerald Club fifteen minutes late again. My boss was going to kill me. The seedy building stood in an abandoned complex right next to the jammed-packed freeway. A gigantic neon sign repeated girls three times and a long pink awning jutted out from the front door.
I stumbled out of my car, carrying my purse and bag of school books. In between dances, I could get a little homework done if nobody bothered me. Jerome stood at the front door looking menacingly as always. He was an over-sized black man with the softest heart and a hug that could crush every bone in your body. He grinned and let me right in.
The club lights were dimmed and Poppy danced on stage to Britney Spears' “Womanizer.” A bar sat along the far right wall and Johnny was there tending to the drunks. A shot of whiskey sounded good right about now. I took a hard right through velvet curtains that stated: Employees Only.
Joe, the owner, came barreling towards me. His hair had receded to the very back of his head and he wore the cheapest suit available. He wasn't as soft as Jerome but he took care of his girls. “Winter! You gotta be fucking kidding me. How could you be late again after we just had that talk?”
Damn! I thought he might not have noticed this time.
“I'm so sorry, Joe, but I got caught in traffic.”
Joe checked his watch. “There's no fucking traffic at nine o'clock.”
“There was an accident. I promise it won't happen again.” I gave him my best puppy dog eyes. Joe was a sucker for a pretty girl.
He narrowed his eyes at me. “Poppy offered to switch with you. You're on in twenty minutes.”
I really owed Poppy a big one. This was the fifth time she had covered for me. Maybe I could buy her some makeup as a thank you.
Joe continued, “I also need you to cover Jasmine's shift on Saturday night.”
Double Shit! This Saturday I promised my mom I'd come visit her. But I couldn't negotiate with Joe without him firing me on the spot. I was already playing with fire.
“You got it, Joe. Whatever you need.”
Joe clasped his hands and bowed before me. He really wasn't all that bad. I just needed to be on time more often.
I walked into the makeup room and sat at my station. Exposed light bulbs surrounded the mirror and pictures of my family were taped to the edges. I wanted my area to feel a little more homey—a little more personal. I went to the open rack behind me that held the few outfits I owned. The dancers at Emerald were required to pay for their own costumes which meant I couldn't afford too many.
I pulled out a blue bikini that was bedazzled with a hundred sequins. It looked really cheap but you couldn't tell in the dark club. I quickly changed and stuffed my big breasts into the bikini top. I sat down at my station and opened the drawer full of makeup. I brushed my brown hair and darkened my eyes with black liner and eyeshadow. I added the biggest fake lashes and overdid the lipstick.
Helena strutted into the room wearing a long dress and platform shoes. She was very thin and tall with small perky breasts. She could've been a model if she wanted to. Most of the dancers were so jealous of her body.
“Joe seems angrier than usual. Late again, Winter?” Helena sat down at the station next to mine. She had been dancing at the Emerald for over ten years which was a lifetime to some of us. When I started, Helena helped me through the basics: getting my costume, learning the routines, and dealing with customers who get a little too touchy.
I capped my lipstick and pursed my lips in the mirror. “Only by fifteen minutes. I could be one minute late and he'd still go ballistic.”
Helena laughed. “Joe is Joe.” She put her hand on my shoulder. “We just got in a big group of guys.”
“I hope they have deep pockets.” I winked.
Poppy came back from the stage all sweaty. Crumpled-up dollar bills were pinned along her waist with a g-string.
I got down on my knees and groveled at her feet. “Thank you so much, Poppy. I owe you a million times over.” I kissed her platform shoes for added effect.
Poppy's fake red hair burned brightly. “You better believe you owe me. I barely got any tips out there and a group
of bikers just came in right after I finished.”
