Unexpected Guest: A Riverton Crossing Novel - Book Three Page 3

by Savannah Maris

Evan pulled out his phone and gave it to her to scroll through the messages. She finished, and there were tears in her eyes as she made a move to get up. Evan’s arms clamped tighter around her.

  “Where are you going?”

  “Bathroom.”

“Do you really need to go, or do you want distance?” He knew her well in the short time they’d been together. Her body language was almost as easy to read as the words she spoke.

  “Distance,” she whispered.

  “Why?”

“Do you know who sent those to you? And if I hadn’t asked, were you even going to tell me about them?”

She tried to pry open his fingers.

“Stop it. I need to touch you while we discuss this.” He waited until she relented. “The three that were stupid enough to leave their names on the comments about not marrying you, I went to high school with them. Believe me, if I ever see them in person, they’ll know how completely in love with you I am. If you wanna tell them to fuck off now, go ahead.” He felt if they put some rumors to rest, they’d both feel better.

He placed his lips on the side of her head and let them linger for a moment. “We’ll switch phones every night and then respond to whichever texts we want however we want. Deal?”

  “Deal.”

  “Where’s yours?”

“I left it in the kitchen.”

Evan went to retrieve her phone. By the time he returned, she’d responded to the one who offered to change his mind. When he sat beside her, she showed him the screen. She had a look on her face that he’d never seen before. It wasn’t really jealousy, but wasn’t bitchy either.

Evan Riverton: Thank you for offering to rock my fiancé world, but you see, I’m not finished with him yet. His child and I plan to keep him busy for many years to come. I don’t share, so you need to find your own man because Evan is taken. Unless you want to continue this conversation with me, I suggest you not ever text my man again. ~Ginger Monroe

Evan smiled then opened her phone and scrolled through her messages.

Ginger Monroe: Thank you for relaying to my fiancée who enters the police station. People must enter the building to have police business handled, and that includes Ruby. Since my fiancée doesn’t wear a badge, please do not concern her with these matters. ~Chief Riverton.

“Maybe that will put an end to this shit.” He continued to scroll through her messages and noticed one that hadn’t been opened. “Gin, did you see this message?”

She opened it and saw a wedding announcement one of the blogs put together for her with the question, “When do we get to post this?” A smile crept across her face. “I publish a lot of articles with them, so they wanted to design the announcement and send it to the other blogs as a gift. All I have to do is give them the date.” Her eyes twinkled for the first time in hours.

Evan rubbed the back of his neck, not sure how to broach this subject. He couldn’t wait to tell the world but didn’t want to put the information on the internet until he had security locked down.

“Do you really wanna do that until we know who your admirer is?”

“I know they’re taking pictures of me, but I still think it’s targeted at you.”

“Ginger, I didn’t have a damn motorcycle follow me in the mountains or ride beside me today. How can you think it’s all for me?”

“No, you just had a woman offer to rock your world so you’d forget about me.”

“Darlin’, my world has already been rocked and knocked off its axis by you and this little one. No one else has a shot. Plus, both of my heads are in the same place,” he said as he cupped himself. “We only want what you have to offer.” He grabbed her ass and pulled her toward him. “And we hope you plan on offering up soon.” He flashed his sexy smile.

“Why? Do you see something you want?”

“Yes, I see a five-foot, four-inch, redhead who’s pregnant with my child, and I want every inch of her…now.”

“Then what are you waiting on, Mr. Riverton? If you see something you want, take it,” she said with a saucy smile.

Evan didn’t waste any time wrapping her legs around his waist and carrying her to their bed. He kissed her as he laid her down. She had on little cotton shorts with an elastic waist, so he slipped his thumbs in each side and pulled her shorts and panties down her legs in one move. Opening the drawer of his bedside table, he pulled out the vibrator they bought on their way back from their mountain house. His cocky smile spread across his face.

  “Wanna have some fun?”

With a sparkle in her eyes, she nodded. “Yes.”

Evan took off his shirt. “Take off your top and bra then scoot to the middle of the bed.” He toed off his boots and slipped off his jeans as he watched her. Ginger’s eyes were focused on his cock standing at attention. She licked her lips which caused him to groan.

  “You wanna taste, darlin’?”

She dragged her gaze up his body until it met his. “Yes,” she said breathily.

“Turn around.” He moved so he was kneeling over her face and his cock was all she could see. “Open.” He watched as her mouth opened to take him in as he fed his cock to her. As soon as her hot tongue raked over the head, his eyes rolled back, and he moaned.

Her legs were bent at the knees so her feet were flat on the bed. He turned on the vibrator as he leaned forward and supported his weight on her knees then ran the vibrator up her hamstring toward her ass before moving it to the inside of her thigh. Her thighs quivered as a whimper left her mouth, so he slowly moved his hips.

With her hands wrapped around his hips, she squeezed his ass. When she let her nails dig in, he let out a grunt, thickening in her mouth. He held the vibrator against her clit and turned it up to the highest setting as he slipped two fingers in and out of her at the same rhythm as his cock moved in her mouth. He was careful not to push the vibrator in, but her moans urged him as his body broke into a sweat. When her legs shook, he knew she was close. Hell, he was too, but he wasn’t ending this way. If they changed positions now, it would postpone their climax.

He pushed off her knees, and she sucked harder. “Open, darlin’. I wanna see your face when you come.” She cupped his balls, and he knew how they’d finish…in this position.

He moved back against her knees. Thrusting his hips as he ran the vibrator over her clit, she moaned again. When he slipped his fingers back inside, he knew he’d hit her g-spot because her hips started to move as he began to thrust harder. He bit the inside of her thigh just above her knee, and she fell apart. Every muscle in her body contracted.

With her breathing erratic, she compensated with her hand. She never stopped stroking him, so as soon as she caught her breath, she found her rhythm again. A few more thrusts and he exploded down her throat. When he heard her gag, he moved off her.

  “Darlin’, are you all right?”

She sat up and wiped her mouth. “Yeah,” she said with a smile.

He moved them so he could hold her. “I didn’t expect us to end that way, but that was incredible.”

“It felt good, and I was enjoying myself.”

“But I didn’t get a taste of you.” He paused then asked with furrowed brows, “Can I do that while you’re pregnant? Can we look that up in the book? I don’t wanna wait until we see the doctor. Can you call on Monday? Why didn’t they cover that at the first appointment? They said we could have sex so surely oral’s okay, right?”

Ginger was trying not to laugh at him. “I’ll see what I can find out.”

“Gin, nine months is too long. We also need to find out about toys.”

“Is that why your finger was the only thing inside me?”

Evan shrugged. “The doctor said you can have my cock. He didn’t say anything else was okay, so I didn’t want to take a chance.”

“I’ll call on Monday.” She snuggled closer to him.

Kayla had found her phone and called her mother. Mitchell walked into their room wh
ile she was on the phone and stripped off his shirt with a mischievous grin on his face. Her eyes widened then locked with his before her gaze moved to his tattoo then down his abs to his V and cock before moving back up the path they just took.

As she told her mother about the issues with Ginger, Mitchell toed off his boots. He climbed on the bed and moved up her body as he straddled her legs. When he reached the button on her shorts, she said, “Yes, ma’am, we’re all in agreement. A small double wedding here at the ranch. Evan said that, with extra security, we could do the street dance for the reception. The guys still don’t understand why the town cares, though.”

She lifted her ass to help Mitchell as she listened to her mother. He was kissing his way back up her legs, when she said, “I’ll let them know how much the town loved their parents and always felt as if they were their sons as much as their parents.” Kayla looked at Mitchell as he rolled his eyes, but continued his exploration.

“I’m sure they’ll understand. Ow!” She glared at Mitchell while he grinned at her. “Oh, I’m okay, Mom. Something just bit me is all.” He continued his trek up her legs until he reached his treasure hole. With the first swipe of his tongue, Kayla said, “Oh! Mom, I need to go. I’ll talk to Ginger, and we’ll get back to you. Yes, ma’am, love ya, bye.”

Kayla disconnected the call and plowed her fingers into Mitchell’s hair. “Oh, oh, oh!” Her juices coated his tongue as he sucked. When she caught her breath, he moved over her body while he rested on his forearms and kissed her.

Mitchell ended the kiss. “You taste good, baby. You didn’t have to hang up with your mom. I would’ve been quiet.” With the twinkle in his eyes, she knew what he was thinking—she couldn’t be quiet.

“You still have on your jeans.”

“Oh, you want me to take them off? I was just going to get you off while you were on the phone,” he said with a chuckle.

“From the feel of your cock, I’d say you’d like to get off, too.”

“Get naked while I pull off my jeans.”

Kayla sat up to remove her top and bra while Mitchell rolled off her and discarded his jeans. Within seconds he was nibbling her earlobe then kissing back to his spot on her neck. “Ahh,” slipped from her mouth as he slid deep inside her.

His eyes closed as he groaned. He was so hard this wasn’t going to take long. They moved in unison, and he opened his eyes when he felt her walls tighten around him. “Come on, baby. I’m right behind you.” When she came, her fingers dug into his back which spurred him into a more fevered movement. With each thrust, his moans became louder until, finally, he gave into the ecstasy only his release could give.

“My Mak.” His body relaxed on hers, and she relished the feel of his weight, at least part of it, on her. His face was buried just below her ear—his other favorite place. He was peppering kisses on her neck when he froze. “Mak, what if we get pregnant before our wedding night?”

“What do you mean? Our plan has been for our wedding night. Are you saying you want us to try before then?”

“I’m saying I forgot to grab a condom.”

Her eyes widened. “Oh. Well, if we just made a baby, we’ll be married before I’d miss a period.”

“So, I don’t have to wear them anymore?” he asked with hope laced in his voice.

  “Is that what you want?”

“Mak, as far as I’m concerned, we’re married. We’re just planning the public part to make everyone else happy. We can get our license and make it legal next week if you want, but I don’t need the piece of paper to know you’re my wife. You. Are. Mine,” he said emphasizing the last words.

Tears streamed down the sides of her face. “I’ve been off the pill for several weeks. If it happens, it happens.”

“I love you, Mak.” Mitchell bowed his head and kissed her tears away. “Are you sure you’d be okay if it happened?”

Kayla shrugged. “What difference do a few weeks make? If I was sure about our wedding night, a few weeks aren’t a big deal.”

Mitchell rolled over bringing her with him. As he held her close, he asked, “Were you sure about our wedding night and not just caught up in the excitement of Evan and Ginger?”

Kayla’s finger traced her nickname tattooed on Mitchell’s chest. “I’ve always known I wanted your baby. Now that the possibility is becoming a reality, the thought of getting pregnant makes me a little nervous. You’re my home, Mitch. It’s just the unknown.”

Mitch kissed the top of her head. “Baby, we can do anything as long as we’re together.”

By late afternoon everyone was gathered in the kitchen discussing dinner plans when Evan’s phone rang.

“Riverton.” He walked toward the living room to finish the conversation.

“Evan, do ya think they’ll stay?”

“I’ll talk to them, Sheriff. Is there one you’d prefer over the other?”

“Which one do ya think would be the better fit here?” Sheriff Cahill asked.

“You couldn’t go wrong with either. By the way, whoever you don’t want to replace Frank, I’m taking to replace Detective Williams. Hopefully, we can keep two good agents in this area.”

“When are ya talkin’ to ‘em?”

“I was getting ready to call them when you called me. Give me a couple of hours, and I’ll call you back.”

“Talk to ya soon.” Sheriff Cahill disconnected the call.

Evan took a deep breath. He knew Nathan and Sam had another week on the East Coast. They had finished their debriefing of the Masterson Investments case and were taking some vacation time, but even knowing they’d need time off to testify in court, they were still the best guys for the positions. They’d both said they’d move here if he needed help cleaning up this place, but they also said it was a shady ass town.

He flipped his phone over a couple of times in his hand before he hit Nathan’s speed dial number.

  “Cox.”

  “Dude, where are you?”

“On my way back to Charleston.”

  “Sam with you?”

“He’s asleep and hungover since some little number kept his ass out all night. He was finally able to let loose now that DEA has closed their case on MI.

“Good for him. Y’all wanna drive out to the ranch before you head toward Charleston?”

“Sounds like you’ve got something on your mind,” Nathan said.

Evan ran his hand through his hair. “That’s because I do.”

  “This about the pictures?”

“I’ve got a little information on that, but something else has come up, and I wanna talk to y’all first.”

“GPS says we can be there around seven.”

“Sounds good. We’ll throw a couple extra steaks on the grill. See you then.”

Evan disconnected the call with a smile on his face. He was afraid the salary package would be prohibitive, but he hoped the cheap cost of living would be attractive. His other concern was that these two had worked undercover in this town, and the people around here thought they were part of the trouble that had shown up. They’d only been back to the ranch a couple of times mostly late at night since the bust, and with their hair cut and beards shaved, maybe people would forget. He was pouring himself and Mitchell a drink when Ginger’s sweet voice brought him out of his thoughts.

“There you are. Are you all right?”

He lifted his head and smiled. “Yeah, darlin’. Nathan and Sam are coming by later. We need to throw a couple extra steaks on the grill for them.”

“For two friends to be coming over, you sure look mighty worried.” She watched his eyes. “What’s wrong? You know Nathan is just giving you a hard time about me, right?”

Evan smiled. “Yeah, he knows I’ll make him sing soprano permanently if I thought he was serious.” As they walked toward the kitchen, he said, “I’m gonna talk to them about staying on here. One working with me, and the other working with Sheriff Cahill.”

  “That’s w
onderful. And you’re worried they won’t take the jobs?”

“Partially. I’m scared we can’t afford them, but also that they don’t wanna stay in a small town. It’s just that Nathan and I know each other so well. When we’re working a case, we’re in sync. That doesn’t always happen with a partner, and even though we wouldn’t be partners, we’d still work every case together. Then there’s Sam. I haven’t worked with him that much, but his brain seems to be on the same level with mine and Nathan’s.”

  “Do you have to choose?”

“What would you have to choose?” Mitchell asked as they walked into the kitchen. “Bro, you don’t get to choose. You get what comes out. I’ve been trying to tell you that for weeks,” Mitchell said with a chuckle.

“Here, you ass.” Evan slid the drink to Mitchell. “I wasn’t talking about the baby.” Evan looked at Ginger. “Do you want me to fix you something to drink? Kayla, you wanna glass of wine?”

“Kayla and I are having sparkling grape juice.”

Evan’s eyes bounced back and forth between Mitchell and Kayla. “Did I miss an announcement or something?”

“Let’s just say I forgot about needing plan B, so…” Mitchell rubbed his hand down his face. Evan had a big, shit-eating grin spread across his with humor in his eyes. “Go ahead and say what you’re dying to.”

“The next four weeks are gonna be fun!” Evan burst out laughing. “Darlin’, I wanted to lock you in our room and duct tape pillows to the furniture. Mitchell will wanna duct tape Kayla to the bed. Hell, he may even try to get Thomas to insert a catheter so she doesn’t have to get up to pee.” He was still laughing as the words left his mouth.

“Don’t give him any ideas, Evan,” Kayla said with a frown. “Plus, it was just the one time.”

“Baby, we discussed this. I’m not going back to plan B.” Mitchell held her close.

“I don’t know, Mitch. Evan just reminded me how you were when that car tried to run me over. You can’t do that again.”
