Love Of Country (Country Love #3) Page 22

by Green, Vicki

“Okay. Hmmm. Then just give me the highlights.”

I roll my eyes and take a deep breath. “I loved flying on a plane. Met the lawyer, who is to die for but later found out is gay, found out I’m a millionaire, cried while I went through everything in the house, sold the house, cried some more, lawyer and I became friends, went and saw my family, cried more than a river, came home, Trevor and I made peace and love each other.” Whew!

He laughs, throwing his head back. “Wait! The lawyer is gay and your friends now?”

Now it’s my turn to laugh. “Is that all you got out of all that?”

He puts his arm around me, pulling me into his side. “Actually, I got it all. You and Trev, huh?” I nod, happily. “I’m so happy for you, Prie. Really. So, everything’s….?” I nod again, no way can I stop smiling.

“Everything is perfect,” I sigh, dreamily.

He squeezes me, pulling me in closer. “I’m so happy for you. You deserve the best.”

We talked for a while as I watch the clock on his wall. A knock sounds on the door and he excuses himself. I sit patiently waiting for him to return. “Yeah, uh….” I turn my head and see Trevor standing there. Why is he here? He doesn’t look very happy. I stand and walk around the couch, walking right into his arms. He’s hesitant, at first, but slowly his arms move around me.

“What a pleasant surprise,” I whisper as I look up at him. I push up on my tiptoes and kiss his full lips. I watch him looking at Nash then his lips press back on mine, hard, his arms squeezing me so tightly it almost hurts. “What are you doing here?” I ask as I finally tug free from his hold but as I turn, his arm moves around my waist almost possessively.

“Just had some business with Nash,” he says his grin showing as he leans down and kisses the top of my head. I look up at him and smile. Maybe I’m imagining things.

I lean up and kiss his mouth and smile. “Okay, then. I’m going home to change clothes. I’ll meet you there?” He nods and kisses me again. I turn to Nash. “I’ll see you over there.”

“Wouldn’t miss it.” He smiles back.

I look at him then at Trevor. Trevor is staring at Nash and not in a good way. Strange. I decide I’m not gonna read anything into it and walk out the door.

  “What was that all about?”

Trevor came home in a foul mood and won’t get out of it. Will make for such a fun night. He looks at me and tries to force a grin. “Nothin’, Darlin’. Guess I was just tired.” He reaches over and takes my hand, giving it a squeeze. I would be relieved but something tells me this isn’t over. He pulls into Memphis and Sadie’s drive, several cars are already here. He finds a place to park and I wait until he opens my door. I watch him walk around the front of his truck. His posture still seems a bit stiff. I take his hand when he opens my door and hold my dress down as a breeze picks up. He takes my hand looking over at me with a smile as we get to the front door. He knocks and I stand there wondering what in the hell is going on, confused. One minute we’re so happy, not able to leave each other for a few hours, the next he’s moody. I might be a bit naïve but I’m not stupid. I know his mood was fine until he came over to Nash’s and saw me there. He never struck me as the jealous or possessive kind of guy but then again, we don’t know each other that well yet.

The door opens with Memphis standing there smiling. Trevor removes his arm from mine and reaches out his hand. “Trevor! Good to see you, man!” Memphis takes his hand and pulls him into a one arm hug and hits his back affectionately.

“Real good to see you too, Memphis.”

I smile back and forth at them, loving my new family. Memphis looks over Trevor’s shoulder at me and smiles. “And there’s my little lady. Come here, hon.” Trevor steps back and Memphis gives me a hug.

  “Where’s Sadie and Shiloh?”

He laughs and pulls back. “You can’t hear them and Tina in the living room?” His brow raises and I laugh. I turn to Trevor and he winks at me and I take off for the living room.

I have such a great time laughing and talking with the girls. I pick up my Coke and take a drink when I hear footsteps walking into the room. I turn my head and spit out the majority of my drink. “What the hell?” I grab napkins and start drying the wetness from the coffee table then stand, dabbing the Coke that spewed onto my dress, and run over to Nash. He’s got a huge black eye and a cut on his lip. I look around as I hold onto his arms. Trevor is standing sheepishly behind him in the corner. “Nash! What happened?” Nash turns his head, looks at Trevor quickly, then back down at me.

I look at Trevor with a stern look and he looks away from me, guiltily.

I push Nash around and take his arm, looking over at Trevor the whole time. “C’mon. Let’s get some ice on that.” My mood just took a turn.

Dinner was nice. Everyone else made it seem as if nothing happened but Trevor was tense next to me all night. Not what I expected tonight would be like. Sadie complained of back aches and kidding that she is just ready to marry the man of her dreams. She and Memphis held hands all night and looked at each other with such love. Shiloh and Colby weren’t any better, his arm around her, the looks they gave to each other made my heart full for them. The ride home, although short, was silent. Trevor helps me down from his truck and I walk to the house, with him behind me. He opens the front door for me and I walk straight into the living room, stop in the middle, and turn around.

“Spill,” I tell him and not in a very nice tone.

He stands before me, his head down but his eyes looking up at me. “I’m sorry. I guess I got a little jealous.”

I flail my arms all around me. “A little? Trevor, you gave him a black eye! Not only should you not have done that, he being your friend too, but the day before Memphis and Sadie’s wedding in which he is a groomsman? What the hell?” Now I’m pacing the floor in front of him, my heart rate so fast I could choke on it. Suddenly I stop and glare into his eyes. “Is this how it’s going to be? Every time I have a guy as a friend or another guy looks my way, you’re going to go all postal on him?”

He looks down, a light grin on his face, and he looks back up at me.

I start pacing again, my arms flying around me. “I mean, really. I like him as a friend, Trevor. A friend! I don’t love anyone but you. I mean….” I gasp when he grabs my arm and pulls me into his arms. I can’t talk because his mouth covers mine, his tongue delving into it and making me dizzy. His hand moves up and holds the back of my head as my arms slide around his slim waist.

  I’m lost in him.

The kiss becomes overheated when he pulls away, pressing his forehead to mine. We’re both panting heavily, our chests rubbing up against each other’s, trying to catch our breaths. “I’m sorry, Darlin’. I did apologize to him and we actually laughed about it afterwards.” I look up into his eyes, sincere, apologetic, and full of desire. “Guess I just saw red when I saw you there with him. I’m not used to havin’ a girlfriend.” Girlfriend. Sigh. He kisses my forehead and pulls back enough that I can see him better. His grin. “I do trust you, sweetheart, but I am a man.” He gives me a wink and leans down, capturing my lips again.

  Okay, I forgive him.

We end up making love, twice, and I practically pass out in his arms in bed. I’m exhausted. My cold is a little better but it’s wearing me out. Then tonight, with all that, I hope I can sleep in for a bit in the morning, since the wedding isn’t until afternoon. My eyes are looking all puffy and swollen from the cold as it is. I don’t need the bags under my eyes from lack of sleep too.

I wake up and stretch my arms up above my head. The sun is shining through the blinds, brightening up the room. I sniff, my cold feeling like it’s better, and I lay my hand down on his side of the bed. Empty as I thought it would be. I’m sure he’s out doing his chores. Letting out a loud yawn, I climb
out of bed and go into the bathroom. Turning on the water, I adjust the knobs, trying to get the perfect temperature. My body is a little sore from my extracurricular activities last night. So worth it. I step under the spray, letting it flow down my head. I rub the water over my hair, my eyes closed as it soaks my face.

Warm strong arms are suddenly around me, hands cupping my breasts. I lull my head back onto his shoulder as his thumbs roll over my nipples. His hardened cock presses against my bottom. I push back into him as desire rises quickly inside me. The feeling of him around me, setting my heart afire. “Mmmm,” I moan ridiculously loud, the sound bouncing off the tiles. One of his hands leaves my breasts and leaves a blazing trail down where I’m aching for his touch the most. He cups me and rubs between my folds. My legs spread automatically as he pushes a finger inside me. “Trevor,” I choke, not able to catch my breath. He inserts another finger and my head begins shaking back and forth on his shoulder. Lazily, I open my eyes and look up at him. His face has such a concentrated look, his own desperation spreading across his gorgeous face. Not able to take it anymore, in one swift move, I turn in his arms, his fingers sliding out of me. I jump into his awaiting arms. My mouth captures his as I wrap my legs around his waist, his hands grasping them quickly. Instantly, I slide onto his more than eager cock, both of us letting out muffled moans with the feeling. He turns us, pressing my back against the tile as I start moving up and down, and my legs squeezing his waist.

  “Fuck! Prie!”

My head tilts back as he releases one of my legs, his thumb finding my aching clit, rubbing, sweet torture. I feel his warm breath in my ear. “Do you know how much I love you?” He breathes out, and I shiver even though I’m encased in his warmth, while my own desire burns inside me. “Do you know how much I fuckin’ love to touch you, be inside you?” He thrusts into me, deep, eagerly, and then pulls out, leaving me breathless. He pushes into me again and starts moving faster, harder. I meet his movements, gaining momentum, my hands on his big shoulders, digging my nails into his flesh.

The moment when that feeling hits you hard below your stomach? The one that is totally indescribable but after it ignites it travels up your body quickly, filling you, and makes your vision go out of focus? It hits me so hard I collapse in his arms, my legs falling down like wet noodles. He stops rubbing my clit and catches me, sitting down on the hard tiled floor with me in his lap. I feel weightless and relaxed but I feel so full of his love, cared for. Happy. He moves back my wet hair, kissing the side of my head. “You okay there, Darlin’?” I look up at him with my half-mast eyes and smile. “Good. Scared me for a second there.” He smiles and my breath catches, which isn’t good since I’m still trying to catch it in the first place.

We just sit there, breathing heavy, him rubbing my arm and his thumb massaging my forehead. I’m about to fall asleep when he moves me. “C’mon, sweetheart. Time to get you washed so we can get some food in you and then get ready to go.” Go? I’m so tired I feel like I could lay down again and I haven’t been awake that long. He stands up, holding onto my arms. “Up you go, baby.” Baby. I stand but my legs feel like jelly and almost fold out from under me. He catches me and I smile, looking up at him, and grab hold of his strong arms. “Wore ya out a little, huh?” He smiles and my heart melts. What he does next makes me feel more loved in so many years that I can’t even speak. He leads me over to the built in ledge and sits me down then he takes the wash cloth and soap, gets a good lather, and washes me as he swats down in front of me. If that wasn’t enough, after he rinses me off, he takes the shampoo and washes my hair. I just sit there watching the concentrated look on the most gorgeous face I’ve ever seen in my life.

“Do you have pictures of you as a boy?” I whisper.

His eyes look into mine then back to rinsing my hair out. “Yeah, I have some.” He gives me a questioning look. “Why?”

“I know what you look like now but I want to see what you looked like back then. I want to see what Hattie saw.” I purse my lips, hoping I’m not upsetting him. But he smiles.

“I’ll get them out. Later. Maybe after we get your hair dried and you into a robe.”

  We.

My heart just melted again and I can’t breathe.

  Chapter Fourteen

  Trevor

There’s nothin’ like layin’ in bed with the one you love in your arms. Makes me not wanna get up. I’m glad her cold is almost gone. The colorin’ on her face is back. Beautiful. I’d never been so angry in my life as I was when I saw her with Nash. Somethin’ inside me just clicked and I saw red. Stupid really. I trust her, I guess it’s all the guys I’m havin’ a hard time trustin’. I should have known there was nothin’ between them but friendship. She’s such a wonderful woman, loved by all that meet her. I kiss her once more on the top of her head and carefully unwrap myself from around her. She’s so tired that she doesn’t stir. I look over at my alarm clock and chuckle. Hell, I’m still tired at four in the mornin’ but chores need to be done then I’m comin’ back to fix her a good breakfast. Still don’t think she eats enough.

When I get outside, I head to the barn, letting the cows and horses out to their pastures then feed the chickens. My daily routine. But once it’s light enough out, gotta finish fixin’ the barn roof. Almost done. Tryin’ not to do too much today with the weddin’ and all. Need time to clean up and put that stiff tux on. I grin to myself. What I can’t wait for is to see Prie in the dress she’s kept hidden in our closet in some white bag you can’t see through. I’ve tried. Three hours later, the roof is finally done. Feelin’ good inside with my hard work, I start headin’ inside to take a much needed shower. It’s a beautiful day outside, birds singin’ their songs, leaves rustlin’ in the slight breeze, and the sun is shinin’. Perfect day for Memphis and Sadie to get hitched.

I hear the water already runnin’ when I walk into our bedroom and see the bed’s empty so I start removin’ my clothes, tossin’ them in the hamper on my way to the bathroom. I stop cold when I walk in there. Her silhouette through the shower door makes my cock harden quickly. Her hands are runnin’ over her head, pushin’ the water through it. Her body is perfect, shapely in all the right places. Her breasts fill my hands perfectly, we connect like no other. I love havin’ my hands on her bottom, squeezin’, pullin’ her in as I push into her. Damn! I need to get in there before I explode. I look down and see my hand strokin’ my cock, not even realizin’ I’d been doin’ that.

I quickly open the door and wrap my arms around her, holdin’ her breasts immediately. Damn, she feels so good but I can’t seem to get close enough. I lift her up into my arms, pushin’ her against the tiles and make love to her. She collapses in my arms and I sit down on the hard floor with her in my lap, runnin’ my hand over her head soothingly in concern. When she finally opens her eyes, the sated look on her face, and her smile that creeps on, makes me take a breath of relief. I know how she feels. Thought my legs were gonna give out when my release hit me hard. Can one have too much sex? I think not but I need to help her build up her stamina. Don’t want her givin’ out too soon. I chuckle in my mind but then grow serious. This is love. The love I’ve been waitin’ my whole life for. The one that takes you hard, grabs hold, and fills you so completely you forget to breathe. I set her on the built in seat, washin’ her lovingly. I need to get some food into her before we have to get ready. I pick her up and set a towel down on the counter, settin’ her on it. Gettin’ another towel, I wrap it around her beautiful body. I hated to cover it up. If I had my way she’d be forever naked.

I leave her to brush her teeth and go out into our room and into the closet. I grab her silky robe off the hanger and bring it to her, replacin’ the towel with it. Again, coverin’ up that beautiful body. Shakin’ my head, tryin’ to clear my thoughts of what all I’d like to do to that body, I leave her, throw on my jeans, and go downstairs to make my girl a good hot breakfast. I’m
just finishin’ up her omelet when I feel her. Her arms move around my waist, her hands splayed on my chest as her head lays against my back. I feel the dampness of her hair on my skin.

  “Morning,” she yawns.

I turn my head. My eyes cast downward lookin’ at her. “Don’t want you to get your cold fired up again. Maybe you should go dry your hair?”

Her head lifts up to me, her eyes sparklin’. “Is that my omelet?” She smiles.

I can’t help my grin from spreadin’. “It is.”

She straightens, her head leavin’ that part of my back cool. “I don’t want it to get cold. I’ll eat first.” I slide the omelet onto a plate and she reaches around me snatchin’ it out of my hand. I turn as she walks over to the table.

“Glad to see your hungry.” I smile.

She turns her head and smiles then sits down at the table. “I’m starving!”

Breakfast was good, then we went upstairs to get changed. I looked at her in surprise as she put on a pair of jeans, a tank top and slipped her feet into flip flops. Disappointment overtakes me. “Why aren’t you gettin’ into your dress?” I think I might be poutin’.

She places clothes in a small bag on the bed and looks up at me. She stops, stands up, and walks over to me. Placin’ her hands on my stomach, she slides them up until they’re on my chest, her eyes lookin’ into mine. “I don’t want to get my dress wrinkled.” She leans up on her tiptoes and kisses my pouty lips, my arms wrappin’ around her waist. I look down and press against her lips harder.

She moves back, but we continue to look into each other’s eyes. Her hands still splayed across my skin. “Gonna make me wait, huh?” Her lips turn into a smile, and she winks.
