Insatiable Box Set: Books 1-4 Page 22

by Rice, Rachel E.

The door opened to the sleeping cabin and standing before her is Wilder. “Adrienne, you are so beautiful. I’ve missed you.” That must have been hard for Wilder to admit that he had missed Adrienne because he was always a loner by nature and never home. She felt that as long as he had his sons, she was his last thought. He was busy most of the time and when they made love it was when he came home from a tiring trek from state to state policing werewolf packs. But here he stands, his long legs wide, his broad shoulders, and that gorgeous face staring down at her admitting how much she had affected him by her absence.

Wilder’s eyes a torrent of need and want. He couldn’t disguise his body’s response to her. She had never quite seen him so aroused. He moved to her with stealth speed leaning over her.

“What are you doing?” She asked.

He stood over her his muscular arms positioned above her head. He had changed his clothes to a white shirt over a pair of soft blue jeans. The cuffs of the shirt rolled up over his wrists. The muscles in his arms flexing each time he moved. She felt his hard rippling stomach muscles contracting when he leaned into her. His manhood swollen when his hips grazed hers.

“I’ve been dreaming for the time when I can feel you and hold you in my arms. I need you now,” he said. His lips lightly touching her warm neck. Reminding him of his animal instincts when he hunted for meat and he held life and death in his hands. He was that powerful, yet in the presence of Adrienne, he was weak. He was weak for her because he wanted her more than he wanted anyone or anything.

Adrienne knew that she would have to deal with Wilder and Lycell, but she didn’t count on it being this soon.

She gazes into his eyes trying for diplomacy. “My love,” she said in a small voice as she raked her fingers through his silky dark hair regarding his blue eyes. “I want you as much as you want me, but now is not the time. It’s Drayton’s time. You asked for this, and now you have to be respectful of our union, and he’s my legal husband.”

Wilder shot to his feet. “I respect my brother, but you’re my mate, and that supersedes you being married to him legal or otherwise. I impregnated you first, and it’s my right if I want to take you now.” Adrienne glared at Wilder and turned her head in defiance.

“Now you sound like Lycell,” she said leaning away from him and facing the television as if he didn’t exist. Wilder felt insulted when he heard those words fall from Adrienne’s lips. Wilder’s blue eyes grew cold as if he was thinking about taking Adrienne, and pushing aside her feeling and words. He needed her and what did it matter whether she had married Drayton or not.

As the Alpha werewolf he had a right because he mated with her first, there was the law of the werewolves that his brother’s would respect.

Drayton knew what his intentions were when he entered the sleeping cabin and saw Wilder and Adrienne, but if she had protested he would have stopped Wilder, but they both glanced at him as if Drayton was the intruder, so Drayton walked out without a word.

It was Wilder who chose to share his precious mate, and he was grateful that he had a part of her too. When the door closed behind Drayton, Wilder said, “I could take you now if I wanted and you couldn’t do anything about it.”

“You wouldn’t dare pull that on me. All I asked you to do is respect Drayton’s right.”

“And I have.” Wilder is still standing over a sitting Adrienne. He is so tall but he is looming over her and for a moment she sees how intimidating he can be. But she’s not afraid of him. To her, he’s still that wounded lone werewolf in the cave, who she nursed back to health, and taught him love and sexual satisfaction for her and for him.

“Respect my right to say no, otherwise, you are no better than those men that raped me.”

Wilder’s eyes flashed with disbelief and disappointment. He never anticipated that she would say those words to him. Before he realized it, he had reacted by grabbing Adrienne and lifting her up by her waist, with her feet dangling off the floor as he stared into her eyes. He’s angry and hurt and she knows it. She sees his nostrils flaring and his chest move up and down.

“I have nothing but respect for you. You are the mother of my pups, my true mate, and I love you beyond life. Do you think I would force you to do anything? If you think so little of me and that I am some kind of animal, then maybe I should find another mate, and you can remain with Lycell and Drayton.”

“Then maybe you should.” Wilder stared at Adrienne wanting to take his words back, but most of all wanting to kiss her and feel the inside of her warm opening tightening around his manhood.

But he let her fall on the bed. Just as quick, he opened the door, and strode out and closed the door behind him with a bang. In the future, they both would regret their words and actions.

Drayton rushed into the room as Wilder headed to the front. Adrienne had her head down, and when Drayton tilted her chin to him, he saw a tear fall from her eyes. He wiped it away with his little finger.

“What is it baby?” His voice is warm and comforting. “Don’t cry. You’re too beautiful and strong to let Wilder affect you that way. Did he do anything to you that you didn’t want? I will have a talk with him.”

“No. He didn’t do anything to me. He respects your right. He’s just feeling pressure from all that’s going on and I know the effects of the coming of the full moon will have over all of you.”

“Yes. I understand Lycell and I have made his life very difficult. Me with not marrying Mena, and Lycell with killing that werewolf from Oregon.”

“Lycell had no choice. He was going to take me and use me, and then let his young males rape me until I have pups for them. That is after he killed Lycell’s pups I was carrying.”

“Don’t say anymore. I can’t stand the pain that you were put through. I’m glad Lycell killed him, and I’m glad he took care of those men that raped you.”

  “What?”

“I’ve said too much. You need to get some rest. We will be landing in Nevada in an hour.”

“Why is everyone telling me to rest? I don’t want to rest. And I don’t want you to leave me.” She reaches for his hand and he sits down near her. Drayton kisses her, although it is filled with passion and she’s aroused, it doesn’t compare to the kiss Wilder placed on her neck earlier. His kisses are filled with danger and seduction. The thought of Wilder entering her makes her opening wet and her clit hard, and she moans from the thought.

“Some honeymoon we had. Well most of it until the big bad wolf came bringing bad news,” Adrienne said half smiling and Drayton laughing.

“I’m not going anywhere. I’m just going to lay here with you in my arms and enjoy the last few minutes we have together. You have your job cut out for you, and we still have work to do. I don’t think you’re pregnant yet,” Drayton says with a raised eyebrow and passion inching through him.

“Do you think something is wrong? Maybe we’re trying too hard. Maybe I didn’t relax and I was too eager?” Adrienne asked with her bright sad eyes.

“No way. You are as fertile as a rabbit. Look at what you did with Lycell and Wilder. I’m happy you are the way you are. You being eager and instructive helped me to enjoy sex every possible way. When you kissed me here,” Drayton said cupping his large penis, “I thought I was in heaven.”

Drayton didn’t want to alarm Adrienne. She had wanted his babies so much. It could be that he was infertile. It could be genetic. Maybe it had something to do with him being the last born of the triplets. He wouldn’t know now, but if he didn’t get her pregnant soon, then he would have to consult a doctor. He thought about Robert. He would consult Robert. Robert had developed a serum for Mena and now she’s pregnant. Maybe it would work for him, but then she’s a female and he’s a male.

  Chapter 3

The plane landed on the Samsa’s private air strip. Adrienne had slipped off to sleep in Drayton’s arms, but she felt the ever looming presence of Wilder lurking around peeping in the cabin, and then pacing the length of the air plane. Whe
n the plane came to a stop, Wilder was the first to disembark. He stepped off and stood patiently waiting at the foot of the stairs on the runway. It was in his nature to wait patiently.

Wilder could stalk his prey, wait without moving a muscle, and when the unsuspecting animal thought it was safe to show his head, he would sprang on it and with one bite from Wilder on its jugular, it would fall at his side.

His blue flashing eyes were the first things Adrienne caught glimpse of through the darkness as if he was stalking her.

Expecting to see Lycell, he was appropriately absent. He probably knew Adrienne wasn’t happy about Wilder bringing the honeymooners back. He wanted to remain in the background for his own selfish reasons. Wilder with little of any expression on his face held out his hand as if she was any stranger he would help. But the heat and charge flowing from his body, when she placed her hand in his, left no doubt how he felt about her, and it was an undeniable insatiable need. Pulling her hand from his she reached for Drayton as she walked between Wilder and Drayton heading for the limo.

“Where is Lycell?” she turned to Wilder curious after stopping before reaching the limo’s open door. At first he tried to ignore her and pretend that he didn’t hear her question, but she repeated it and this time a little louder. Of course Wilder heard her. He could hear a deer miles away and pick up the flapping of wings of a bird of prey at an even longer distant. She knew this, and since he was standing a few feet from her she knew he had heard her, and she wanted an answer when she repeated her question and looked him in the eyes.

“I guess he had something better to do,” he said dryly. “You know Lycell, he doesn’t let a little thing like you marrying Drayton cause him to change his behavior or plans,” Wilder says in a spiteful manner with a raised eyebrow, not showing any kind of emotions other than pure jealousy. He walks to the limo and stands to the side at the door. Drayton and Adrienne slide in and he slips in behind her, and then he moves to the right of the limo. He reaches for a drink.

“Should you drink?” Adrienne questioned alarmed especially since she had never known Wilder to drink liquor. Something must be weighing heavily on his mind and it was more than their disagreement with her that bothered him. Wilder ignored her after he turned to glare at her with his sharp blue eyes. Then he turned away from her.

He mumbled under his breath, “Don’t question me. I’m not your husband.” He turns his body to Adrianne after drinking a large glass of liquor. “I’m only your...what exactly am I to you, Adrienne?” He shoots her a weary gaze then looks out at the moon.

Soon it would be time and she knew that they would need her or find someone else to satisfy their werewolves’ hunger.

She really didn’t know what to do. Drayton sat gazing at Wilder and her silently. He held her hand tight and said, “He’ll be alright. Just let him get it off of his chest.”

Casting her gaze on Wilder, she said, “We need to discuss this arrangement. I said that it wouldn’t work out, but you insisted on this. Now you’re jealous of my marriage to Drayton. What has gotten into you?” Wilder took another drink and glared at her but didn’t say a word. His eyes sent shivers down her body and if Drayton hadn’t been there, she didn’t know what he would have done. She was certain that he wouldn’t have harmed her, but he looked as if he could cause harm to Drayton. With Drayton being a few inches taller and maybe stronger than Wilder, then it could have been devastating to their family if Drayton had a different disposition. She knew that something had to be done before she would be at the center of tearing their lives apart. The only female surrounded by males, including eight sons, she was outnumbered and out voted in every aspect of her life.

Adrienne took the attitude that it was fine with her if Wilder wanted to ignore her and brood. It was probably best for all involved. She had too much to think about. She had her two sons by Wilder she hadn’t heard from or seen in two weeks, and the six young ones, and not to mention the overpowering vitality of Lycell. The whole scene and idea of three werewolves had become overwhelming. She thought that maybe she needed a rest from everyone. Her first idea was to go to her parents’ home for a visit. Maybe then she could get her head together and figure something out.

That was the last place she wanted to be, but it was the only place that she knew to go.

The limo driver drove them up to the door of her large ranch home she shared with her sons and the Samsa triplets.

She could breathe because she was no longer in closed confines with Wilder. She needed to see her children. Adrienne jumped out of the limo with the help of Drayton and headed into the house. When she bounded through the doors she yelled for Hunter and Devin.

Stepping out of the foyer leading to the kitchen stood two tall gangly strong muscled blond teenage boys with blue eyes.

“Who are you?” Adrienne inquired confused. “Where is Hunter and Devin?”

“We are Hunter and Devin we are your sons, mother. Don’t you recognize us?” They said in unison. Adrienne walked around circling them, looking curious as if they are side show acts in a circus.

“This must be a joke. My sons are no more than toddlers.”

“But we are your sons, ask father. Father, tell mother we’re her sons,” they said smiling as if it’s all a big joke. Adrienne turned quickly following her son’s eyes focus behind her. “These are my two boys and your sons,” Wilder said sternly. “You are their mother. You wouldn’t listen when I explained to you how they would grow because like it or not, they are werewolves. Now, do you believe me?” Still bewildered at the sudden growth spurt of the boys she appeared in shock. She did remember Wilder saying that a mother’s time with werewolf sons are short.

“What about my babies. I hope you’re not going to tell me they are no longer babies,” she said getting ready to run up the staircase.

“They are still babies,” Lycell said as Adrienne watched at the stairway as Lycell tramped down with one son swathed in a small blue blanket. “The others are sleeping. I call this one Damon. He never sleeps.” Lycell hands the baby off to Adrienne and Wilder’s sons encircle her with a hug.

“It’s great to have you back mom,” Hunter says smiling. “We’re on our way out. We planned on riding and maybe chase some animals.”

“Or some girls,” Devin says with a hopeful grin.

“You’re not old enough,” Adrienne says. Her sons look to their father.

“They will be in a few more weeks,” Wilder interrupts with a closed grin and a curl of the left side of his mouth.

Adrienne never felt happier or loved. She kisses the baby, hands him back to Lycell, and gives Hunter and Devin a hug as they trot to the kitchen where the door can be heard closing leading to the stables. “I hope they’re careful with those horses.”

“They were born to ride a horse,” Lycell interrupted.

“I doubt that. They could travel faster on all fours and they need the exercise and the experience,” Wilder said to Lycell.

“Yes, but nothing is faster around here than a horse except a werewolf of course. But you wouldn’t want them running around town attracting attention,” Drayton said to Wilder.

“Do you mean they can shift this early?” Adrienne looked to Drayton.

“We were shifting very early. Some werewolves develop early,” Drayton added.

“I was out chasing girls when I was their age,” Lycell said with a grin and then he lowered his eyes when Adrienne turned to him.

“We know what you were doing early, Lycell. I doubt that Adrienne wants to hear about your escapades with the girls and woman in the area,” Drayton said with a wide smile.

“That’s because you wanted to stay celibate, Drayton. You and the lone wolf over there. Don’t blame me if...” Lycell stopped in mid-sentence because he saw the look on Wilder’s and Adrienne’s face.

Wilder’s brow furrowed. He didn’t want Adrienne to see that he was vulnerable to her. She had been the one true mate and love of his life. He had searched all his yo
ung life for her, and then when he finds her, he has this bright idea to share her with his brothers. His most precious mate and now he felt that it was the worst thing he could have done in his life. But sadly it was too late to remedy that. The die had been cast and he had to live with his decision.

Adrienne looked around and realized that Drayton wasn’t standing beside her. He disappeared. She doesn’t understand these men or werewolves. She is the only female in a pack of male werewolves, and she is an only child. She doesn’t understand any of this.

As much as they want to say they are different from men they aren’t. They are behaving like men. Each one is vying for her attention and affection, and there is only so much of her to go around. Adrienne is stretched to her limits.

“Don’t I get a kiss, Adrienne?” Lycell finally asks, looking at Wilder, and Wilder grimacing with a low growl as if he didn’t get his share of a piece of meat.

“Where is Drayton?” She ignores Lycell.

“My little brother has had you for two weeks. I think it’s time to pay attention to me and Wilder. Not necessarily in that order. I’ll see you tonight,” Lycell said with a decisive tone.

“You will not. Wilder interrupted my honeymoon because he said it was urgent that we return.” Adrienne is followed by Lycell and Wilder into the large modern sit-in kitchen. Lycell takes her arm and she turns and gazes at him.

“What do you mean by that?” Lycell says watching at Wilder. Wilder has a sly grin on his face.

“I said that I will not see you tonight. I have to be with Drayton until our honeymoon is over and it’s not over yet.”

“But there is a full moon,” Wilder objects. “We have to mate with you.”

“You can control your urges,” she says looking over to Wilder. She sits at the counter after reaching into the warmer and pulling out a bowl of soup. Wilder just glares at her and walks away.
