His Choice, Her Decision Page 10

by Williams, D. C.

with running back, Terrance Scott, leaving Gloria’s restaurant.

Looks to me like Terrance couldn’t keep his hands to himself.

Is this the reason she’s avoiding me? As I sit here staring at the television, there is image after image of Sharon entering the restaurant, the look in Scott’s eyes as she walks in, them leaving the restaurant and the most disheartening photo of all, is of the hug and kiss they share before she gets into her car.

Throwing the remote at the television, I can’t believe this shit. Surely, she didn’t just meet him. And what was she wearing? I remember that sweater and it never fit like that! She’s going to see me today whether she likes it or not. I have to be on set in one hour and after that, she will have no choice but to see me.

Walking out of my closet, I hear the phone. Answering, it’s Sebastian. “What?”

“I take it you saw the smut page.” Smut page is a term we use for the tabloids.

“No, but I just saw that shit on the television. I can’t believe her ass! I’ve been calling her non-stop and I’ve even been by her house like four times.”

“You didn’t hear this from me so if it comes back, I’m going to deny it.”

Sighing at his pussy whipped ass, “deny what?”

“Don’t be pissed at me, I warned your ass that eventually this would happen if you didn’t start to show that girl some respect.”

Just get to the fucking point! “Sorry man.” I say rolling my eyes towards the ceiling, “what are you going to deny?”

“Man, Sharon met Terrance while she was in the Bahamas. So you weren’t the only one being foul. The only difference is, you got caught.”

“What do you mean being foul? Did she sleep with him?”

“Sleep with him? No man, they met at a club and exchanged phone numbers is all that happened according to my wife. Besides, Sean was there.”

Sitting down on my bed with my head in hands, “Sebastian, tell me what to do. I don’t know where her head is because I haven’t talked to her. Is she seeing this Terrance guy?”

“Aiden, I don’t think it’s anything serious between Sharon and Terrance. But what I suggest that you do if you really want her back is to pursue her like you’ve never done before. She’s always jumped to the beat of your drum with you manipulating her. Now is the time for you to jump to beat of her drum.”

  “What does that mean?”

“It means, you were her first and you’ve used that to your advantage and have taken her for granted. She’s gotten tired of your shit.”

“I’ve got to make this right. I love her too much to lose her. I’ve said this before but I really mean it now.”

“Then prove it to her, man. That’s all you can do.”

“Yeah, you’re right. Listen, I’ve got to go. I’m due back on set.”

“Alright man, keep your head up.”

  Chapter Twenty Seven

This has been the longest damn day of my life! I couldn’t get my lines right, went off on the director and cussed out my co-star. I can’t seem to get Sharon off my mind. Is she dating that Terrance guy? It’s just after ten so I know Sharon should be home. She never does much on Fridays.

Driving up to her house, I see her Audi A5 black convertible in the driveway. Strange, she always parks her car in the garage. Getting out of my car, I head to her front door. Knocking and ringing the doorbell, there’s no answer. Sighing heavily, if she’s not home, where is she and more than that who is she with?

Walking back to my car, I decide that I’m going to wait for her. I need to see who she’s with. Thinking, if I stay parked in front of her house, she won’t stop so I move my car to the end of her block. An hour passes, no Sharon. Two hours pass, still no Sharon. Damn, it’s two in the morning. Where is she? Just as I’m about to drive off, Brian’s car passes me by. What the hell is going on?

Brian is pulling up next to Sharon’s car. From what I can see, she jumps out of the car and is literally running to her front door. Why isn’t she going in through the garage? Oh hell, he’s running behind her. What the fuck is going on? Pulling into the drive way behind Sharon’s car, I walk to the front door which is left slightly open. Walking in, I can hear them in Sharon’s bedroom.

“Are you going to be okay?” I hear Brian ask her.

“Yes, I don’t know why I’m so nauseated. Damn, I feel horrible!” It sounds like she’s vomiting.

“How long have you been feeling like this?”

“I think for the past two or three days.” I hear her start to cry. “This has been the worst week of my life. First that crap with Aiden and then I found out this morning that the part that I auditioned for was given to another actress.”

“Oh baby, I’m so sorry.” Baby, why is he calling her baby like she’s his woman? I need to calm down so I can find out what’s going on.

“Brian, I know you need to leave for the airport, I’ll be okay.”

“I don’t want to leave you like this. Part of your problem can be handled if you just talk to Aiden. You know I don’t mind you hanging out at my place but you need to just face him so that you can feel better.” She doesn’t respond but I hear them moving around in her bedroom.

“I know but I’m so confused right now. My emotions are all over the place concerning Aiden.” I hear her crying again. “Why did I fall in love with a guy who only loves himself? I will never satisfy him enough for him to be faithful.”

“We don’t always choose who we fall in love with Sharon. It just happens.”

“Why can’t he be like you?” I hear him laugh.

“You don’t want him to be like me either.”

“Oh God!” I hear movement in the bedroom.

“Damn Sharon, you’ve thrown up like five times in the last hour. Maybe you need to go to the emergency room.” I can’t take this anymore, I’m going in.

Walking into her bedroom, they are both in her bathroom and she is hovering over the toilet while he’s holding her hair back. Getting up from the toilet, she has on black stretch pants and a long sleeved grey and black striped fitted shirt. The first thing I notice about her appearance is that her hips appear even curvier than the last time I saw her. She doesn’t look well at all. “Sharon, are you okay?” They both look up at me in shock.

“How did you get in here?” she’s asking as she goes to sit on the side of her bed.

“Your front door was open.” She looks up at Brian with annoyance in her expression.

“So you just walked in? You couldn’t ring the doorbell?”

Abruptly getting up, she runs back into the bathroom and hovers over the toilet again. Brian and I are right behind her. Bending down, I place my hand on her back. I feel her shift beneath my hand for me to move it but I’ll be damned if I let Brian console her. Seeing Brian lean against the bathroom door out of my peripheral vision, I stare up at him – I guess looking for some type of sign on what I should do. His response is blank. Looking back at her, she sits down on the floor while resting her head against her arm. The room is completely silent.

“Ahem. I better get going Sharon. I have to be at the airport in four hours.”

Looking over her shoulder at him, “oh Brian, I’m so sorry. I’m supposed to take you to the airport.”

“Don’t worry about that. I’ll check on you later today.” Looking like he’s pondering his next thoughts, he says, “I’m glad Aiden’s here. He will take care of you.” Glaring back at him, my eyes almost pop out of their sockets. Did he really just say that? Giving me a slight nod, he leaves.

  “Aiden, why are you here?”

Recalling what Sebastian told me earlier, “Well, you wouldn’t return my calls and I had to see you.” Running my hand through my hair, “Sharon, I really didn’t do anything at that party besides get drunk. You should know that I wouldn’t cheat on you again. I do crazy shit, but I promise, I didn’t sleep with her.”

“No Aiden, that’s the problem, I don’t know whether or not you will che
at on me again. And, you did more than get drunk, you let her fondle you! And it didn’t help matters any when I saw that it was Amy. Covering her eyes with her hands, I need to lie down, I feel like crap.”

Helping her up from the floor all I want to do is just hold her. Surprisingly, she lets me help her without pulling away – she must really feel like crap. “Brian may be right, we should go to the emergency room.”

“I think I just need to sleep this off. It feels like the flu.”

Lying down on the bed, she’s flat on her stomach. Damn, her ass has gotten bigger! Trying to control my growing erection, I sit down beside her. “Do you mind if I stay while you sleep?” She’s about to say something but gets up to run back into the bathroom to hover over the toilet again. “Sharon, something is wrong. Let’s go to the emergency room.” Reaching down to feel her forehead, “you don’t have a fever.” Before she can object, I pick her up in my arms and head towards the front door, grabbing her purse that was left by the front door in the process.

  Chapter Twenty Eight

I can’t believe Brian would just leave me like that with Aiden, shit! As if I wasn’t already confused enough, having Aiden being the Aiden I know – kind, caring and loving, makes it hard for me to stay mad at him although, I know I have every right to be. Rubbing the top of my stomach, I lean my head against the passenger door while in route to the emergency room.

Clearing his throat while placing his hand on my thigh, “baby are you okay? Do I need to pull over?”

His touch feels so good! Here I am, sick as crap and I want so bad to just have sex. Is that crazy or what? My hormones suck! “I’m okay.”

“I’m sorry about the sitcom. I know you had your sights set on the opportunity to work local for a while.”

“Yeah, me too.” I can tell he’s nervous and just trying to make small talk. Small talk is better than no talk at all to him.

Parking in front of the emergency room entrance, Aiden comes around to the passenger side and opens the door. I move to stand on my feet and the next thing I know, he bends to lift me like I’m an injured child. “Aiden, put me down! I can walk.”

“I want to carry you in, you’re too sick.”

People are staring at us. “Aiden, please put me down, people are staring at us.”

  “I don’t give a fu, ahem, I don’t care about these people.”

Pushing at his arm, he’s reluctant, but puts me down. “I’ll go inside while you park the car.” Walking past him, I walk into the emergency room and stand in line at the registration desk. This lady keeps staring at me so my immediate thought is either I must look like crap or she recognizes me from the tabloids.

“Excuse me ma’am,” I hear her say. Looking around, is she calling me ma’am? I must really look like crap. “Ma’am,” she says again, this time pointing at me.

Walking towards her, “Yes, are you talking to me?” Nodding, “yes ma’am,” she says in a squeaky, annoying voice. “You don’t have to register with the general people.”

General people, is she serious? “Okay,” I say slow and exaggerated. “Where do I need to go?”

  “Follow me,” she says.

Turning back to look for Aiden, I feel like I’m going to puke again. Grabbing my stomach, I lean forward, “Oh God, I think I’m going to be sick again.”

The lady places her hand on my back. “Come with me honey. Are you by yourself?”

Shaking my head, “no, I have someone with me, he’s parking the car.” Oh my goodness, I just referred to Aiden as someone. She begins to lead me through some double doors as Aiden rushes to my side to assist her.

  “Babe, you okay?”

Glancing over at the lady, she gives me this “oh he’s someone alright look.” Ignoring her, “yeah, just feels like I’m going to be sick again.”

Leading us into a room at the far end of the hall, she keeps looking from me to Aiden. I know she recognizes us from all the tabloid coverage and probably calling me all kinds of stupid. Ugh, my life! “Well,” she says in her squeaky voice, “we need to get you registered. Do you have your insurance card with you?”

“Yes, it’s in my purse.” Looking at Aiden, I hope that he remembered to bring my purse in. He gets up from the chair against the wall facing the exam table and hands it to me. Instead of returning to his seat, he stands there as the lady keeps looking from me to him with judgment written all over her face. Reaching into my wallet, I pull out my insurance card to give to her. Leaving our room, she tells me that she’s going to get paperwork for me to complete. Aiden is looking a little uncomfortable. “Did you see how that lady was looking at us?”

“Yeah, I saw. She’s probably against mixed couples?”

I frown up at him, is he serious? “You think that look had to do with us being a different color?” I dare not say couple. “I think it has to do with me looking like an idiot for being with you after that video and all the tabloid coverage.”

“Don’t do this here, okay. Our problems are our business. Damn that lady. I don’t care what she thinks.”

I’m about to come back with a smart remark but instead, I leap off the exam table and run to the nearest trash can to puke. I don’t know what I’m puking because my stomach should be empty. The lady re-enters the room and runs over to me, “sweetheart, let me get a nurse in here for you.” Handing Aiden the clipboard, she runs back out of the room. Returning, she has a man with her.

“Hi, Ms. Wen, I’m Rafael, your nurse.” In my sickened state, I notice that Rafael is fine as hell!

Walking back over to the exam table with Aiden right behind me, I lie down on my side.

“Ramona tells me that you’re vomiting. How long has this been going on?”

His voice is so deep and that accent, sexy! “All day but I’ve been nauseated off and on for about a week. I think I have the flu.”

“Um hmm, and when was your last menstrual cycle?”

Last menstrual cycle, why does he need to know that? “Um, it was last month.”

  “Was it a normal cycle?”

“Yeah, I think it was. I’m on birth control pills.” I look over to see that Aiden is staring Rafael down like he’s waiting for him to make a wrong move – he must feel threatened in some way. Maybe it’s because Rafael is so fine. From what I can see, he appears to be about 6’2” with the perfect skin coloring, dark hair, a beautiful accent and to top it all off, he has the sexiest eyes!

Interrupting my thoughts, “well, I’m going to find the doctor so that we can get you examined to find out what’s wrong.” Looking at me a little longer than he should, he smiles at me and leaves the room.

Aiden pointing towards the closed door is yelling, “What the hell was that? I’m going to request another nurse.”

I knew it. “Why, what did he do wrong?”

“What did he do wrong? Let’s start with the way he keeps looking at you.”

“Aiden, please don’t cause a scene. I’m the last thing on that man’s mind.”

He’s about to say something but the doctor enters the room. She’s a tall, beautiful black woman who appears to be in her early forties. “Ms. Wen, I’m Dr. Brock, how are you this morning?”

“She’s sick.” Aiden blurts out while returning to his seat, “why else would we be here!”

Ignoring Aiden, “so Rafael tells me that you’ve been nauseated and vomiting. I’m going to order some lab work and see if we can get an idea of the cause of your ailment. Once I get the results, I’ll return to do your examination.”

Dr. Brock leaves the room as Rafael hands me a hospital gown. “Ms. Wen, if you will put this on, the lab will be in shortly to draw your blood and obtain a urine sample. If you need anything, please let me know.”

Oh hell, I know Aiden is going to say something. Oh no, here it comes, he’s getting up from his seat. Coming to stand by the exam table with his arms folded across his chest, Aiden stares Rafael directly in the eyes without saying anything. The eye contact must mean somet
hing because Rafael nods and quickly leaves the room. Looking over at Aiden, I shake my head at him, “why are you behaving like that? I just threw up in their waste can, do you honestly think that man is interested?”

Rubbing my hip like he’s doing his on personal examination, he shrugs his shoulders, “I don’t know but men don’t care about you throwing up if they are attracted to you.”

He’s a lost cause and I’m too sick to argue with him. Lying my head back against my arm, I close my eyes.

  Chapter Twenty Nine

Sharon has fallen asleep waiting on the doctor to return. I can’t help notice the changes in her body. Nothing to complain about, she’s sexy as hell. I almost stroked out when she took off her blouse. Damn her breasts looked so succulent. Shaking my head, she’s probably trying to put on a few pounds for some new role – she hasn’t mentioned anything but then again, we haven’t been talking. Leaning back in my chair, I glance at my watch again. Man, this is taking forever. Sharon makes a sound which makes me look in her direction. She is so beautiful. Getting up from my chair, the door opens.

“Ms. Wen”, Dr. Brooks says as she enters the room. Sharon gradually lifts her head. “We have your test results back. If you could try to sit up, I’ll discuss them with you and then I’ll do the physical examination. Also, is it okay for Mr. Taylor to be here for the test results?”

Giving the doctor an annoyed look, “it’s okay, we came here together,” she says while sitting up.

“Well okay then, the nausea and vomiting is a result of you being pregnant. According to your blood results, you’re also dehydrated from all the vomiting.”

“Pregnant!” Oh my God, did she just say pregnant? Getting up from my seat, “she’s pregnant! Are you sure? She’s on birth control.” Sharon eyes are the size of quarters. She’s not saying anything. I think she’s in shock. Walking over to take her hands, I see tears trailing her face.

“I can’t be pregnant,” she finally says and then she really begins to cry.

  “I don’t want a baby.”

Wrapping my arms around her is all I can think to do. “Baby, please don’t cry, we’ll be okay.” Looking at Dr. Brooks, she nods and leaves the room. “Sharon, calm down, you’re not alone in this. Is that how you’re feeling?” I’m saying this shit but I’m scared as hell. I don’t want to start a family right now. Sure, I love Sharon and when I do decide to start a family, I want it to be with her, but my plans for that is way down the road, not now! Pulling her tighter into my arms, I take a deep breath.
