No sooner did she touch him, than he saw what she did.
Well over a hundred dragons filled the evening sky.
And they were not Hallstein’s.
“Sigdir dragons,” he whispered, impressed. But seconds later they vanished.
“My people.” Her eyes were moist as they met his. “They were sending me a message that all is well.” She shook her head, relieved. “They’ve got our back. And they’re not upset with me. They don’t feel betrayed in the least.”
“See, I told you.” He cupped her cheeks and brushed his lips across hers. “It’s all gonna work out.”
It was starting to look like it just might.
By coming together, Kage and Viv had started to close the gap between two worlds. They were the unexpected element against the enemy. Something he never saw coming.
Viv had called Kage her wounded dragon several times since they arrived here. The missing, nearly destroyed piece that made her whole again under this very tree. But he knew better.
They had both been broken.
Wounded.
At the same time in a land far, far away.
Or a long time ago, depending on who you asked.
What mattered most for Kage and Viv as he swung her into his arms, was the new start they’d made. One that meant protecting their people together. They had devoted their lives to it and intended to keep on with that…afterward.
Right now they were yet again heading to bed.
“Kage,” she cried out a long while later after he’d spent hours pleasuring her and she locked up in climax, quivering. “Thank Odin for you.”
Thank Odin for him?
Now that was a stretch.
But if that’s how she wanted to see him...
He was tempted to tell her he loved her. That she was everything he had no idea he wanted. But he didn’t. Instead, he chose to keep it simple. And, as Viv would say, romantic…at least for him.
“Thank Odin for you too, darlin’.” Kage peppered kisses along her neck. “He couldn’t have done any better when he created you. Because hell, just look at—”
“Got it, hon.” Viv pressed a finger to his lips and grinned, all flushed and breathing heavy. “I love you too.”
Kage never responded, but he didn’t need to.
She knew he felt the same. And he continued to show her how much between the sheets. In the way he looked at her with adoration. The lazy grin that curled his lips because he knew she was his. Then in the way he spent worshipping her long after.
The End
Kage and Vivienne might have found their happily ever after, but not Erica. Not by a long shot. Follow her and Kodran Sigdir’s turbulent journey as war erupts between her tribe and Hallstein’s in Pride of a Viking, the epic conclusion of The MacLomain Series: Viking Ancestors’ Kin.
