I jumped up from the mattress and pushed him away from the door. “Stop it! Are you trying to get us killed?”
Danger threw his head back and laughed loudly. “No one's going to kill us.”
“Look,” I said, moving my body closer to him again. “You need to just relax. What do you want me to say, Danger? I fucked up, I know that. I’m sorry. Can you please just let it go? We really need to stick together right now.”
Danger shook his head. “You still don’t get it, Kat. This isn’t like some of the petty little kid shit you’ve done in the past. This is serious. You put yourself in danger AGAIN. And this time, you dragged other people into it, too.” He looked me up and down with disappointment then turned his back on me. “Just don’t talk to me right now.”
“Danger. I-“
“I SAID don’t talk to me.” And the tone of his voice let me know to not bother challenging him. Then he turned his back on me without another glance.

I glanced at Danger out of the corner of my eye. God, he was even sexy when he was pissed off at me. It was killing me how he wouldn’t talk to me, killing me how he was ignoring me like I was some bitch that meant nothing to him. I knew he had a right to be mad at me, I was mad at me, too.
But couldn’t he cut me a break?
At least, a little one?
It had been at least an hour without a word from him.
It was driving me fucking crazy.
The weird thing about being kidnapped with Danger was how fucking calm he seemed to be. Me? I was a complete mess. Freaking out, worrying, sweating. I felt like I was about to have a fucking heart attack at any moment.
The only time Danger seemed to be showing any emotion at all was when he was pissed off at me. Otherwise, he looked around the room, played with his fingernails, looked at the holes in the wall. It was like he could care less that at any moment someone could walk into the door and blow our brains all over the wall.
The whole thing was very fucking strange.
When I finally couldn’t take it anymore, I snapped. Dodging up from where I was sitting on the old mattress and waving my hands around in front of Danger like a crazy person. “How the fuck are you so calm?” I demanded.
Danger barely lifted his head in response, clearly not impressed.
“Do you not realize what’s happening here? We’ve been KIDNAPPED! Kidnapped! I was taken off the street in the middle of the night and you were taken… I don’t know where you were taken from because you refuse to talk to me but it doesn’t matter because we will probably both be dead soon! And you want us to die without even saying goodbye! Because you can’t set your ego aside! Then I don’t want to wait any longer! I want to die now!”
My heart was beating up and down in my chest and I could feel the room starting to feel smaller and smaller around me. I knew I was starting to crack the fuck up but I didn’t even care at this point.
Danger rolled his eyes. “Oh, wow, Kat’s being dramatic. What a surprise, she NEVER does that.”
I shot him a dirty look then ran towards the front of the room as fast as my legs would take me, which suddenly felt way too wobbly. I threw my fists against the door and started wailing as hard as I could. “I’M BEING SERIOUS! JUST DO IT! JUST KILL ME ALREADY! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?”
Danger grabbed my arms and pulled me away from the door. “What the fuck is wrong with you? You better calm the fuck down and now.”
“What’s the point?” I yelled at him. “You aren’t even talking to me and I’m going to die in here EITHER WAY!”
He pushed me further away from the door. “No one's dying, you foolish girl, knock your shit off. You really think I would be taken if I didn’t want to be taken?”
What the hell?
“Why would you want to be taken?” I asked him, his words settling into me slowly.
He rolled his eyes. “Because I have a plan, if you would calm down and not blow it for us. Damn, I swear to god only crazy bitches are coming my way tonight.”
I shot daggers at him. “Oh, yeah? What other crazy bitches have you been around tonight, Danger?”
Danger opened his mouth to answer but didn’t get the chance.
Because suddenly the entire building is filled with the sound of gunfire.
And for the second time in the last few hours, I found my mind slipping away into the darkness.
