“Gwendolyn,” I groaned, gripping her thighs possessively. “You’re making me.”

“No! You are… But, this time—shit! Look at your hand.” I peered down and saw my skin dissolving. “I think you’re really about to rage like you normally do. Quickly! Please, please. Just do what you want and trust that nothing bad will happen because we’re…” She blushed. “Soulmates. Just do what you want.”

“Do what I want?” Time seemed to stand still.

She nodded vehemently holding the back of my head as I gazed at her. “Please.” I took in the candy color of her eyes. “Hurry!”

  Something snapped in me.

Sliding a palm to her ass, I held her as my other hand snaked into her hair. I leaned in and inhaled her. Our lips met, and I surrendered. She cupped my face as our tongues slicked together.

Pinning her against the closest tree, I gripped her hips possessively. She whimpered into my mouth as I ran my hand up her side and caressed one of her pert tits. She was soft, warm, perfect everywhere. I continued to kiss her passionately and roam her body with my touch while my other hand braced her against the tree.

Her legs began to shake, and I knew I had to have her. I dematerialized my jeans, and my cock bobbed forward and slapped her thigh.

  “Yes!” She squirmed.

I realigned her body and glided my cock between her hot, slick folds.

  “Barron!” She trembled.

My arms shook, not from exertion, but because I wanted her so badly.

Against me, Gwendolyn felt too small. But she was so perfect…so mine.

  “Hurry,” she whispered. “Please.”

“I’m still here,” I murmured as our eyes met.

She reached up and cupped my neck. “Your neck…”

Overlooking the fact that I was on the verge of raging, I rested my lips against her forehead and said, “Don’t let me hurt you.”

“The only thing that hurts is your running from me,” she whispered.

When she tensed, I kissed her cheek. Pulling away, I glanced at her face as she smiled. “Don’t run—don’t freak out again… Just let it happen.”

Then I saw why she wanted me to remain calm. Wrath was seeping through her body like a ghost. Fury rippled through me, then Gwendolyn grabbed my face and pulled me in.

“Barron.” Gwendolyn grinded against my twitching dick. The sensation had me tightening my grip. I was so desperate for her.

My vision receded and suddenly I saw her through a tunnel.

“No, no, no! We’re so close,” Gwendolyn screamed, but she sounded far away.

The blackness came for me. Wrath was coming out.

  No!

In the darkness, I saw nothing, but I felt her presence. Gwendolyn was frantic and determined. Something pressed against me and then, heat coursed down my spine. That warmth—so delightfully tight—surrounded me. It was pure ecstasy.

The blackness lifted like a cloud, and my focus returned. Gwendolyn was still in my arms, but her head was against the tree. Her eyes were closed, and she wrapped her tiny fingers around my cock.

“Ah,” I moaned. “Fucking Hades, Gwendolyn.” A wave of bliss crashed over me as her pussy stretched. She was like a tight glove—so fucking right.

  “It won’t fit!” she cried.

“It will,” I corrected, pushing my heavy dick farther.

  “Barron!”

Pressing Gwendolyn into the tree, I thrust into her. Once. Twice. Gravity flew away. I had no recollection of the ground or the trees—only her. As her pulsating walls gripped my dick, I’d never felt more grounded.

I lost myself as I rode her body like a passionate beast. Her breathy little moans fueled me. As we moved together, I dared to take a peek.

The sight should have scared me, but it didn’t. Wrath was right there channeling her body while I pumped into her.

“Barron!” Gwendolyn screamed my name as her body shuddered.

When I kissed and caressed her—finally admitting my love that my curse stopped flowing into her. My wrath vanished and took the weight of a thousand furious men off of my shoulders.

And then it hit me. My balls tightened. I gritted my teeth as I moved hard and fast, jackhammering toward my climax.

Gwendolyn’s nails raked down my back as she came again. I could fight the sensation no longer. I clasped her hips, pulled her hard into my final thrust, and roared. I filled Gwendolyn with so much more than my essence.

When we were both satisfied, I pulled out and leaned my forehead against hers. I had to hold her up to keep her from sliding down the tree. Opening my eyes, I watched her as she panted. Her face was flushed and damp with sweat. Just looking at her made me want her again.

“Bed,” I told her. “I’m not done with you.”

She cracked a smile and went to embrace me. When the air filled with a crackling sound, her eyes opened quickly. Electricity shot out from her fingertips, and I went sailing. Fortunately, I landed on my feet, sliding across the ground before I hit a tree. Gwendolyn fell on her naked ass and groaned.

“Ow.” She studied her glowing fingertips, then glanced up at me. “Oh, God. How did I do that? I didn’t mean to.”

When she tried to stand and reach for me, it happened again. I was better prepared that time, but the blow to my chest still hurt. I rubbed at it as the color drained from her face.

“Is it because I took wrath inside of my body so you wouldn’t rage?” She pouted. “We can’t touch now.” Tears pooled in her eyes.

I rushed toward her again. “Arms up, dimples.”

“Up?” She blinked, and I smiled.

“Don’t point those fingers at me until we let Mom or Joy look at you.” She raised her arms, and those perky tits caught my eyes as I embraced her. Lowering my head, I nuzzled her breasts while Gwendolyn kept her arms up.

She stiffened. “Barron,” she said breathlessly. “I can’t hold this position while you’re doing that.”

  “Are you angry?” I asked.

  She shook her head.

“Not about to explode or ignite from my curse?”

  She rolled her eyes.

  “How are you feeling?”

She batted her eyes at me. “You know what I’m feeling.”

I grinned. “No, I meant wrath. Do you sense anything alarming? It’s important. I need to know you’re okay.”

“I feel fine. My fingertips are tingling, but we already know what happens—”

I rubbed my fingers over her clit. Red crackling power shot straight into the air. Gwendolyn gasped as we looked up. A huge ass tree limb was barreling toward us. “Barron!” she screamed as I pushed us out of the way. The branch landed with a thud.

“I’m okay with you zapping shit.” Honestly, I expected something damaging her. As long as Gwendolyn was safe, I could live with that kind of ruckus for eternities. “Let’s head to the castle and make sure there’s nothing internally happening too.”

  She huffed. “I’m fine.”

“I need to know for myself.” I touched her shoulder softly, rubbing my thumb across her naked skin. “Ease my worries.”

Hands still up, she stood on her tiptoes. I bent down so she could kiss me. “Okay.”

Two exams and ten explosions later, Joy and Isabella’s coven leader, Melinda, had a verdict for Gwendolyn.

“She’s fine,” Melinda said, sitting in front of Gwendolyn who was covered in a blanket at my parent’s dinner table. “As your sister said, there’s nothing wrong with her. She’s perfectly healthy.” The witch stood along with my three sisters. Sebastian and Isabella were over by the bar.

“My wrath,” I began. “It won’t harm her? Ever?”

The witch pinned me with an amused expression, lips twitching and eyes crinkling at the edges. “You asking if it will make her angry or cause pain to her?”

  I waited.

“No,” she said. “By the time your curse entered her body, it was already dispelled. It’s more
like energy. Gwendolyn will have to harness and learn to control the force when it channels through her so things like this don’t happen.” She pointed to a hole in the wall Prudence was repairing. “She’s already used what energy she had so you won’t have to worry about it until it happens again. I can work on some gloves of some sort to help her. But Barron, isn’t she your salvation?”

I glanced down at Gwendolyn. The witch’s words either pissed her off or embarrassed her. Gwendolyn didn’t look up at me.

“Yeah, she is,” I uttered, finally earning Gwendolyn’s green stare.

“Like the Sloth, when your curse looms close, you now have a means to stop it entirely.” Melinda paused next to me “You didn’t look at the paper,” she murmured. At first I was confused, and then I remembered that Melinda had wanted me to come to her. It was several weeks ago before Jackal recovered his memory.

“The name on this paper is someone who is supposed to die soon. Deliver them to their afterlife with ease. That is all.”

Melinda’s smiled as she watched me process my memories. “Without my meddling, you still found her. If there’s not a will, there’s fate.” Before I could say anything, she turned to Isabella. “When I have the gloves, I’ll give them to you.”

Isabella touched her own glove-covered hands and nodded. “Okay.”

“If that will be all, I’m leaving,” Melinda told us.

The second she ported, Kitty broke the silence. “Anybody feel like this witch knows too much about us?”

“My thoughts exactly.” Maureen crossed her arms. “Still… I don’t think she’s trustworthy.”

“You can trust her,” Isabella piped in. “She sees a lot. The future can consume you when you constantly see it.”

“Sounds like her forte is matchmaking,” Prudence murmured.

“I think our parents would like her a lot,” said Joy.

“So, brother, how do you feel?” Sebastian smirked, slipping his hand from Isabella’s shoulder so he could prance over and annoy me.

  Shockingly, I wasn’t upset.

I peered down at Gwendolyn. “I feel like taking Gwendolyn home.” She hugged the blanket to her as she smiled at me. “Ready dimples?”

  Chapter 30

  Gwendolyn

Once Barron faded us to his house, I was hit with sudden bashfulness and drifted away from him. I had discovered the key to containing his wrath. The energy my body absorbed from Barron was gone. Barron’s curse would always be with him, but he had me to stop him from losing control.

Helping Barron delighted me. It was what I wanted to do, but it left me with questions? Were we lovers? Or had I become simply a salve soothing him when he needed relief?

“Are you hungry?” Barron’s gruff voice came from behind me. I flinched, too deep in my own thoughts to notice he had followed me.

  “No, I’m good.”

He pulled the blanket from my shoulders I still had clutched around me. “You’ve been bundled up in that thing since Joy put it around you at the castle.”

“Barron,” I faced him. “About us…”

I had to know what he thought of me and him, us, and the whole soulmates thing. His wrath was no longer a problem.

His fingers slid down my shirt. “What about us?” They shimmied underneath the hem.

I sucked in my stomach as his palms trailed up to my ribs. “Do you already need me again?”

Had his curse returned so soon? I thought he’d at least be okay for a few days after all that my body had absorbed.

“Need? You think I’m just going to use you? Fill you with explosive energy?” His brows furrowed as he pulled me closer. When I didn’t answer, he continued, “It’s never been about needing you. From the moment I met you, you’ve been driving me fucking mad. I’ve only ever wanted you.”

“Then, why did you push me away?”

“Out of fear. I didn’t want to hurt you. Don’t you know that by now?”

I did. I just had to hear it.

“You will always, always be the one thing I protect more than the world. From the second you entered my life, you became my world.”

My throat tickled, eyes watered, and my heart... Well, it soared.

Barron closed his eyes, hugged me tightly, and rested his chin above my head. “You didn’t get a choice in the matter when it came to being stuck with me. I’ve given you so much shit trying to keep you safe from me.” At least he knew! “I won’t make you help my wrath. I won’t make you stay with me if you don’t want to, but I will protect you no matter what. It’s what I want to do. The only thing I’ve ever wanted to do.”

“I want,” I whispered, clutching his shirt. “I want you. Hasn’t it been obvious how much I desire you?”

I couldn’t see his face since the side of my face was smashed against his chest.

  “Gwendolyn,” he murmured.

“Not because you’re my soulmate,” I blurted. “Although I do love that mark on my ankle, I want to be with you because you promised to steal me away forever.” A tear slid down my cheek. “I never stopped hoping for it to come true even when it didn’t.”

I took a step back, but he grasped my chin and lifted it. He dried the tear and exhaled. “Thank fuck.” Then, he scooped me up and planted a greedy kiss on my lips. I wrapped my legs around his waist.

Heat bloomed everywhere our bodies touched.

I dragged my mouth from his. “This isn’t for your sin, right?”

He nuzzled my neck, sending ripples of pleasure down my spine. “Fuck no, dimples. This is for you and me.” He gripped my ass. “This is what I wanted to do the night I kissed you and couldn’t on account of you dying and all.”

I laughed. “You pushed away so fast that I thought you weren’t feeling what I was.”

He snorted. “Are you fucking crazy? Do you know how horrible I felt for getting a boner while you were barely breathing?”

I bit my lip. “I wish I would have felt that that night.”

“Don’t pout. Shit works on me.” He groaned, squeezing his eyes shut before kissing me.

“I knew it!” My heart swelled as I threaded my fingers through his hair. “No more broken promises? No more pushing me away?”

Our gazes locked, a sea of longing and desire crashed like waves between us. “I’m done beating myself up. It’s you and me forever. Don’t caution your heart. I want that shit.”

Our lips collided. He walked with us glued to one another. While Barron’s hands roamed my ass, I ran my fingers through his hair and peppered his neck and cheeks with kisses. He groaned. Suddenly, my back hit the wall, but I barely felt it.

But, I wanted more of Barron. I wanted to trace his tattoos with my mouth after looking at them all night. I wanted to drape my body over his as he sketched his fingers over my skin. I wanted to stay awake for days talking about his life—all the years he’d been alive. Most of all, I wanted to know him inside and out—his likes and dislikes and what made his big body tremble.

My body burned for him. God, I was going crazy. It was like he opened a dam within me.

Somehow we made it to the bedroom. Barron dropped me down on the bed and climbed over me. His hands slipped beneath my shirt, and our clothes disappeared. My startled gape met the smoldering fire of his smirk. He did that. I panted as he rolled his finger over one of my nipples and I squirmed.

Wedging my thighs apart, Barron moved between them. I took a moment to stare at him—the thick rope of his muscular shoulder and chest. All man. All powerful. All mine. I moaned at that thought and Barron kissed me for it. I had a forever and ever, and he was there over top of me, sending me to the stars with his sensual lips. I traced my fingers over his skin, knowing that I was caressing all of his tattoos.

When I felt his thick dick bob against my opening, I panted, and lust swam in my stomach. Pulling our lips apart, I took a second to look at him again and my heart fluttered like a million butterflies were in my chest. I slid my finger up his arm, shoulder, chest, then f
inally caressed his cheek with my palm. I met his eyes, the dark molten stare was everything I ever wanted, and I silently hoped my love reached him.

Gently, Barron grabbed my hand against his face and kissed my palm before placing both my wrists above my head. Oh, God. He was so tall, so big, that he could do whatever he wanted to me and my insides throbbed at the idea. With his free hand, he slipped his fingers over my swollen clit and I bucked into his touch. He went lower, teasing my opening, but never pushing in.

“That’s what I like,” he rasped in my ear.

My skin was on fire. I could feel how wet I was for him. I loved it. How easily he could make me come undone.

Removing his fingers, he grabbed one of my legs and placed it over his hip, then his huge head was nudging against my pussy. Fire shot up my stomach and I quivered. Not even inside me yet, and ecstasy was rapidly building inside me. Arching forward, I pressed myself into his dick, panting and wanting him to drive home. I cried out when he did. Pleasure zinged through me.

Like the first time, he stretched me to the rim. Jesus. I could feel every inch of him inside me. He filled me to the point of I-feel-like-a-virgin-again. So perfect. Our bodies were so perfect together. Then he pulled out, back in, painting my body with tingles and delicious friction.

“Wrap your other leg around me,” he instructed, and I listened. “Fuckkkk,” he groaned, and I cried out with him as he pushed deeper. Oh, my God. So deep. My pussy pulsed around him and I loved the way we felt together. Snug and completely one.

His hips shifted, changing the angle of his thrusts. I gasped as that toe-curling goodness zinged through my pelvis. “That spot. Hit it again,” I begged.

His head dropped against my neck, his breath heating my skin. “I feel it too.” His throaty moan fueled the sensation for when he hit it again. “That spots mine, Gwendolyn. The only one that can reach it.” I believed him. By the third jab in that perfect angle, I was exploding like fireworks beneath him. I’d never been so enthralled by someone like I did my soulmate. No wonder I’d always been lost. I’d been missing a piece of my life for so long.
