The clouds swept across the sky masking the full moon and the clearing dived into pitch darkness. I couldn’t see my hands in front of my face, but felt the blood dripping off them. I was in a dark place.
There were the sounds of light footsteps and a rush of wind behind me, and Thorn’s hand slipped into my bloodied hand.
“V, you are my protector, my saviour,” she said, and brushed the mud and tears away from my face and kissed my stained cheek.
She was at my side, I felt safe and happy again.
She pulled at my hand, but I was frozen to the spot looking at the contorting bubbling flesh covering the clearing.
“We can’t stay here my love.”
“I want my revenge, and I want to know if the formula is safe,” I said.
“You need to learn about the wider world, and your place in it now your training is complete. There are people that can help us,” she said.
She continued. “Come V, I have a brand new world to show you. The truth of the vampire world and the riches it has to offer await. It will help you understand and help us plot our revenge. Something big is happening with these needles requiring such deception. Our destinies our bound together for a reason,” she said.
I relaxed and looked away into the dark.
“V, follow me,” she said seductively and walked away again.
Thorn led the way, and I followed her, hand in hand, into the darkness.
