She didn’t smile when she greeted him. “Come in.”

“I understand you’re miffed at me for not contacting you or Chandler. I’ll explain it all when we get to Chandler’s house.”

“I’ll get my purse and sweater.”

He glanced around the living room. The colors were muted shades of purple and gray. The few pieces of furniture she had were mostly cream colored. Her two chairs had light purple and cream-colored stripes. Not having an overabundance of furniture made the room feel bigger and calming.

Todd sat on one of the chairs and found it more comfortable than he’d expected. Sunn joined him.

“I like what you’ve done with this room.”

“Mom says I don’t have enough furniture.”

“I’d have to disagree with her. Cluttered rooms make me want to leave and get out in the open air.”

“Me, too. My mother and I are alike in many ways, but not in how to decorate a house.”

“We’d better get on our way. Chandler will be pacing the floor.” They rode down the elevator in silence. At his truck, Todd helped her in and went around to the driver’s seat.

They were halfway to Chandler’s when Sunn broke the silence. “I’m sorry if I hurt you the other day. Sometimes my mouth gets ahead of my brain.”

He glanced in her direction. “You didn’t hurt me, but you made me think. I had to be certain what I was offering you was real. Love is new to me. I’ve kept my heart guarded since I was a child.”

“What did you discover since the other day?”

“I’ll tell you and Chandler all about the revelations that occurred in the past few days. I’ve learned a lot of new and unexpected information.”

  “You’re being mysterious. I’m intrigued.”

He drove down a long drive to a small farmhouse. Chandler stood on the porch. When Todd got out, he walked straight to his friend and hugged him. “I’m sorry you were worried.” Then he rushed back to lift Sunn off the truck’s step.

Todd swung her around in his arms. When he stopped, his head dipped and he kissed her. “I love you, darlin’, no doubts.”

He carried her into the house.

Chandler held the door and grinned. “I’m glad to see my old friend back.”

“This is your new friend. Sit. I’ll tell you two all about it.”

“Put me down in a chair,” Sunn said.

“Nope, you stay on my lap.” She frowned at him but remained quiet when he sat holding her.

“When I left Houston, I wanted to find out if I knew how to love.” He shrugged his shoulders. “How do you find that out?” He looked at Sunn. “I went to my favorite spot, where I took you. The quiet and solitude helped me think, but didn’t give me a definite answer. I thought my feelings for Sunn were real. She doesn’t deserve to be hurt, and especially I didn’t want to be the one to do it.”

“So you still aren’t sure?” Sunn asked.

“Let me tell you about today. Lann had asked me to have lunch with him.” Todd explained how Lann thought he might be related to a friend of Lann’s in Wyoming. He didn’t mention all that Lann told him in private.

“Lann’s invited me to go with him to Wyoming in the morning. I’ll meet this man, and we’ll see where it goes from there. When he suggested all of this, it threw me into a tailspin of emotions. I’d decided long ago I didn’t want to search for my family. They’d dumped me on the state. I didn’t need them.

“I built a wall around my heart. Sunn, you were the first to put a crack in my protection, so I ran fast and hard from you.”

Todd took a deep breath and took a sip of the bourbon Chandler had set beside him.

“Why didn’t you call me?” Chandler asked. “Maybe I could have helped.”

“I didn’t want to involve you or Sunn until I’d made a decision.” He glanced down at his hands clenching the arms of the chair tightly. Sunn had slid off his lap and sat at his feet looking up at him.

“So I drove to see the one person who knows me best of all.”

  “Miss Truda,” Chandler said.

“Yes. We talked. I asked her if she thought I could truly love a person.” He smiled thinking about her answer. Then he looked at Chandler. “She pointed out how I loved her and you. And she’s right, I do. It’s not romantic love, but it is love and trust.”

“What did she say about finding your family?”

“I’d pretty much decided I’d take a chance and go with Lann before I saw her. She understood I had to work through that myself.”

Silence fell in the room after his long speech. Finally, Todd spoke. “I never hope. I work hard to make things happen, but hope let me down too many times. Looking forward to finding a family makes me hope, and scares me.”

Sunn sat back in his lap and wrapped her arms around his neck. “May Chandler and I go with you? You need our support, and we want to be there if it turns out to be a disappointment to you.”

As their eyes met, a rush of warmth flooded his system. In her face he saw the caring he’d wanted to see from so many others during his growing up years. When he’d become an adult, success had been his goal. He was known as a cold, relentless businessman.

“Chandler, you are the closest friend I have. If the two of you really want to travel with me, I’ll call Lann and ask him. But I can do this myself. I’m not a coward,” he said defensively.

“Having friends support you is normal for most of us. Get used to it,” Chandler said and Sunn nodded vigorously.

A relieved grin spread across Todd’s face. He punched in a number and kept his arm around Sunn while he spoke to Lann. When he clicked off, he said, “We have to be at the hangar by seven. I’m hungry.”

“We’ll take Sunn to our favorite place to eat. Have you been to The Fishing Hole?” Chandler asked.

“Once or twice. It’s a good distance from town, but I loved the food.”

Todd looked at his watch. “We have time to eat and come back and satisfy my other hunger.” He raised his eyebrows questioningly at her.

Sunn kissed him. “Why don’t we appease that hunger first?”

He stood with her in his arms. “I like the way you think. Lead the way, Chandler.”

Moonlight shown through the windows of the dark room. They left the lights off. Sunn didn’t see much of the bedroom but the king-size bed.

Todd let her body slide down against his, and Chandler stepped in close to her back. Their combined heat and scent had her heart rocketing into the stratosphere.

When Todd’s fingers began to unbutton her blouse heat flashed wherever his fingers touched. Chandler unfastened her hair and held the mass in his hands and took a deep breath.

“I love the smell, the softness, the silvery-golden color, my love.” He let her hair loose and it fell down her back.

Cool air touched her skin in front and she realized Todd had opened her blouse and unsnapped her bra. Chandler took a step back so Todd could remove her upper garments.

Then Todd’s warm hands wrapped around her breasts and his fingers tweaked her peaked nipples. A shot of desire ran straight from her breast to her core and her juices soaked her panties.

Chandler pulled her hair to the side and kissed the back of her neck. Then he rubbed across her shoulders and down her back.

“Remove her jeans and pants,” Chandler said to Todd.

“I’m working my way to doing that.” His fingers undid the button on her jeans, and then he swooped down to her feet. “Good, no boots tonight.” He took off her low-heeled shoes and tugged, bringing her panties and jeans down and off.

“I’ll undress while you two play,” Todd said to Chandler.

Chandler kissed her neck and rubbed her nipples. Then one hand moved to her lower lips, separated them, and put pressure on her clit. Her body arched into his and his hard cock rubbed against her buttocks.

Her craving for these two men grew stronger each time they made love. Her heart pounded against her ch
est wall and she shivered when he aroused her passion to a ravenousness level.

Todd walked in front of her. He’d undressed and put a condom on. His cock strained upward along his abdomen. Having him watch escalated her passion into a burning cauldron of pleasure.

Chandler slid down, kissing the length of her backbone, massaging her buttocks, and kissing the back of her legs.

Todd placed his body against her front and kissed her deeply. His tongue licked the inside of her mouth. “You taste like the sweetest peaches,” Todd murmured.

“You two are making me crazy with wanting you.”

“Good.” Todd bent his head and took her nipple into his warm mouth. His tongue slid around the peak, and then he sucked on her breast.

Her hand gripped Todd’s cock and she ran her finger over the crown. “Go in me, now.”

Chandler had backed off and was undressing. Todd picked her up and placed her on the bed. He spread her legs wide and kissed his way up her leg to her lower lips. His nose brushed across the soft hair covering her labia. “Your scent arouses me. My cock wants to be buried deep in your sweet pussy.”

His fingers separated her folds and he licked her clit and the juices coating her lower lips. “Ambrosia.”

Todd placed his cock at her opening and surged forward. Pleasure shot straight up her spine and she yelled out in delight.

Chandler sat beside her head. He leaned over her and kissed her. His tongue slid between her lips and tangled with hers. The combined bombardment of their touch, scents, and taste had her body trembling, her heart racing, and her pussy rippling around Todd’s large dick. Chandler moved a short distance from her and watched her face.

Suddenly a fierce wave of ecstasy washed over her. Her body bowed under Todd. He plunged into her faster and held her tight as they both yelled and fell into space.

Todd rolled to her side, taking deep breaths. Her heart gradually slowed. He turned to face her.

“If that doesn’t prove we’re meant to be together, I don’t know what will.” He kissed her and sat on the side of the bed.

“I’m going to shower down the hall. You and Chandler have fun. Then we need to dress and go eat.” He winked at her and strolled off.

Sunn admired his backside as he went out the door. She glanced at Chandler. “Shall we save time and shower together?”

His answer was to pick her up and head to a closed door on the left side of the room. “I haven’t remodeled this house so the bathrooms are small. We’d planned to live in Todd’s house if we ever married. I like the old farmhouse as it is.” He put her feet on the floor and turned on the tiny shower which someone had added to the room. The tub was the older type with claw feet. She hoped to soak in it one day.

“The water’s nice and warm. Are you game to share it with me?”

“Sure.” She stepped into his arms and saw he’d covered his cock with a condom. His lathered hands started at her neck and worked downward. He caressed each breast, along her abdomen, and rubbed his fingers over her clit and her lower lips.

Chandler turned her where his face wouldn’t be in the water and kissed her clit, and the insides of her legs.

It surprised Sunn how quickly he aroused her desire and the burning need to have him inside her. He slipped two fingers in her pussy and her walls clamped down on them.

His soft smile warmed her heart. “Are you ready for me, sweetheart?”

She put her arms around his neck. He lifted her legs and she rubbed her body against his dick. “I’m ready.”

His fingers tightened on her buttocks as his cock slid into her pussy. Dark blue eyes looked deeply into hers. For a moment it was as though their souls connected.

She sank further onto his cock and her pussy rippled around him. His head dipped and he took her breast in his mouth. When his tongue raked across her nipple, her pussy walls tightened on his cock.

He sped up his in-and-out strokes. Her passion rose higher until she threw back her head and gasped, then she cried out his name. He thrust a few more times before his cock shuddered inside her pussy. His grip tightened and his dick held still stretching her pussy walls to the max.

Chandler let her legs down, but held onto her for a minute. “Are your legs steady?”

“I think so, but my heart is still beating like a train engine.”

“Mine, too.” Chandler turned into the spray and washed off. He stepped out and grabbed a towel. “Finish your shower. I’ll go and dress.” He smiled when he leaned in and kissed her. “I love you.” He took quick strides out and into the bedroom.

Sunn’s heart had shifted. Tonight had been special and there was no going back. For better or worse, she loved them, too.

  Chapter Eleven

They made it to the plane with five minutes to spare. Lann waited in the doorway to Todd’s jet. “Next time we fly to Wyoming I’ll have my own jet. It’s to be delivered next week.”

“I don’t mind using my plane. Sorry we didn’t make it earlier. We had a long night with a lot of talking to do.”

Lann grinned. “I figured it was something like that. We can all nap on our way.”

“I’ll ride up front with your pilot,” Todd said. “If you don’t mind. Pearce rented a car and drove back to Houston.”

“I’d like you to meet Bern’s and my pilot, since you may substitute for him until I find another aviator.

“I talked to Pearce before he left. He’s considering the part-time position and a full-time one with you.” Lann looked at Chandler.

“Wonderful news. I’ve been working on him. He seems to like Saddlespurs. At least what he’s seen of it,” Chandler added.

Sunn put her chair back and slept until Chandler nudged her and said they were landing. She looked out the window and saw a huge ranch with barns and houses and miles of prairie. The plane landed and shortly came to a stop.

Lann came to stand by their seats. My brother Cad will meet us, and then we’ll be having lunch at two of the leader’s home.

Todd had joined them from the cockpit. “When do I meet this man I resemble?”

Lann put his hand on Todd’s arm. “Soon, very soon.”

“This place is huge,” Sunn said when they parked in front of the leader’s house. “It’s quite a distance from the landing strip.”

Cad turned from the driver’s seat to look at her. She sat in the back between Todd and Chandler. It still surprised her how much alike Lann and Cad were in looks and the way they moved. The only difference being Lann’s green eyes.

“This ranch covers twenty thousand acres and the adjoining one about another fifteen thousand,” Cad said.

“Wow!” The men laughed at her and started to get out.

Cad stayed by his car door. “You’ll meet my wife and my friend, Garth and the rest of us later. Mitch thought it best for just you all and his family to meet this first time.”

Lann hugged his brother and led the others up the stairs to knock on the door.

  * * * *

Lann introduced them to the lovely, auburn-haired woman who greeted them. “This is Sara, she’s Mitch and Daren’s wife.

She greeted each of them individually, repeating their names. When she stepped in front of Todd, she studied him from the top of his head to his feet, and then she nodded to Lann.

“He’s the same height, blond hair, but his eyes are a different color.”

Todd heard footsteps and saw two large men walking toward him. The lanky, blond man held his attention. Something sparked in his memory, flashes of another person. His mother? Todd’s body tensed.

The blond man came to stand beside Sara. He glanced down at her and grinned. “He does look like me, but he’s not quite as handsome.”

“Not quite,” Sara agreed. She turned to Todd. “You have to get used to his teasing.”

“I’m Daren Connor.” He put out his hand.

Todd shook it and stared back at the man who except for his eyes looked like he might be his brother.

“Damn, they’re almost as alike as twins. Hi, I’m Mitch Stanton, Sara’s other husband. Welcome home.”

“You’d accept me just like that?” Doubt showed on Todd’s face.

“Lann explained about your special abilities. We can all see you’re related in some way.” Mitch stepped around Todd and hugged Lann. “We miss you.” Then he shook Chandler’s hand. “It’s good to see you again and not for the reason of one of our men needing your services.”

“I guess it’s been quiet around here since your last trouble,” Chandler said.

“Yes. I hope we’ve seen the end of that type of problem. Come and eat. Our cook gets testy if her food gets cold.” Mitch put his arm around Sara and led the way to the dining room. “After we finish, we’ll go to my office and try to figure out which part of our family you belong to.”

Daren walked beside Todd. He glanced at him several times. “You look like me, but you have the eyes of one of my cousins and Nanna.”

Sunn walked up between them and Todd grabbed hold of her hand. “Chandler and I are hoping Sunn will marry us,” Todd said.

Daren grinned. “I hope she doesn’t give you two as hard a time as our sweet Sara gave us.”

Sara glanced back at him. “You wouldn’t have wanted me to fall into your lap and say yes the first time.” Her eyes sparkled when she looked at either husband.

“It might have been nice, but you kept us on our toes.” He added, “She still does.”

“Don’t give in easily,” Sara advised as they sat at the table.

Todd relaxed as the conversation was kept light and most of the time funny. Sunn sat between him and Chandler.

Afterward Mitch tossed his truck keys to Lann. “Show the others around the ranch while Todd meets with us.”

“They’ll enjoy the sightseeing. I’ll stop a few places and introduce them to Hilda, the lady who owns and runs our local store with her husband. Also we’ll look for Hakan, Rex, and Kira.”

“Chandler, you’ll be happy to see Rex is as good as new,” Mitch said.

“Is he as ornery as he was right after I operated on him?” Chandler asked with a smile.
