“Char, Shani, Malou,” you say, barely moving your lips, not turning your head."Come over here—slowly, though, don’t look at the window
An assortment of horrible beasts that you vaguely recognize from your reading have surrounded the building.
And it’s just like the siege of Vestri.
Suddenly you’re a lot smaller and younger, just learning how to use the powers that you need to master as fast as possible. Sea salt and cold wind and slow desperation —knowing that the castle couldn’t hold everyone, that you were running out of food, but hold out, Verdie, someone has to send help—
I couldn’t defend Castle Vestri. How can I defend this place now
Spicy floral perfume brings you back to yourself. “Whatever happens,” Char murmurs into your ear, linking her arm through yours, “you’ve got us. We’re going to follow you—we trust you.”
I can hold back the tide. I can stop an invasion. I’m older and stronger and braver now, and I have friends at my back. This is not Vestri. Not while I live.
I’m going be the person my friends think I am, and I’m going to fly.
“V for Verdie, V for victory!” Your spectacular outfit swirls onto your body, borne by a burst of glitter-wind. When your friends see you transforming, it inspires them to do the same.
“Rise from the ashes.” Flames engulf Char, burning away her previous outfit, leaving her clad in a minidress covered in yellow, orange, and red gemstones.
“Lady of the lake, emerge!” Shani’s flowing light blue dress swirls onto her body.
“My heart in the wall.” Malou’s outfit snaps into place as she salutes.
You’re unstoppable, gorgeous, and ready to fight!

Shani takes your cold hand in her warm one and squeezes it gently, bringing you back to the present day. “It’s all right, Verdie,” she whispers. “We can do this—I trust you.” In that moment, you decide to be the confident girl she believes you are.
I can hold back the tide. I can stop an invasion. I’m older and stronger and braver now, and I have friends at my back. This is not Vestri. Not while I live.

Malou comes up next to you, bumps a shoulder into yours. “Verdie Vestri, listen to me. You can do this. We can do this. You’ve got allies now—and I’ve sworn to fight beside you no matter what.” Malou trusts you, so you’ll trust yourself.

No one can fight the strength of a whirlwind. Charging forward,
unstoppable, powerful. That’s the nature of your weapon, and it’s your nature as well.
Bit by bit, like water chipping away at a cliff face, your powerful blows drive monsters to their knees. Once they’re weakened, you destroy them with a strike stronger than anything that proceeded it. Together with the efforts of your friends, your tireless determination—your valiant stubbornness—wins the battle.

Wind bends, but never breaks. It’s resilient. It can be evaded, but never for long. That’s the nature of your weapon, and it’s your nature as well.
When your wind swirls around the monsters, it erodes their limbs, making them much more vulnerable to your teammates’ attacks. It’s your unique cleverness that turns winning into a possibility—and then into a reality.

No one can match what you do, and your enemies don’t even expect it. You’re entirely you, entirely original. That’s the way you fight—and it’s your nature as well.
