“I thought you were already stressed out with too much to do,” said Kate.

“I was. But I’m bound to have a little free time now, because I am dropping that stupid violin.” Kate and Melanie laughed.

“What are you going to do?” Faye asked Melanie.

Melanie stayed quiet for a second. “I think,” she said, “that I am first going to go inside and tell Lacey the news. Then, I am going to sit down and write up this whole crazy adventure. I don’t want us to forget a thing.”

She smiled. “And who knows? I might even give it to the Undergrounds one day. Maybe it can go up on the wall, too.”

The three girls parted with plans to meet the next morning at the bus stop, knowing that by the time they met, the sun would have set on another unforgettable Mardi Gras season.
