The cop turned to glance at Felix and sighed again. The noise sounded hopeless and Felix wondered a little bit at that. He didn’t say anything. For a split second, Felix thought he looked sad… but that couldn’t be right. Weren’t most cops heartless dicks? The ones in his orbit surely were. He realized he’d been standing absolutely still since first seeing the cop appear holding a gun in his hand. He was only a little surprised when the man turned away and slid down the side of the Navigator facing the street until he was squatting. It looked like he knew he’d be in for quite a wait and suddenly Felix was even more intrigued. He’d expected to see the cop’s partner join him right after he cornered the suspect. In his experience cops never worked alone or looked so… sad and lost.
