Morgan's Walk Page 25

by Suzelle Johnston

She would forever be his. She looked at the ring he’d placed on her finger and thought of its inscription. Since Laris had drifted to sleep, Jared returned her to Tyndal.

“Your mama was a silly girl once and almost decided to give up on love,” Tyndal whispered to her daughter. “And that would have meant missing out on knowing you. Can you imagine such a thing?” She kissed both soft heads. Laris was growing hair, a fine blonde, the ends of each flyaway strand tinted with gold like her daddy’s, and curly, bless her heart. As she and the twins slept, Tyndal dreamed she saw Chase, her mother and father, and they smiled, then they laughed. And she laughed with them.

Maybe, she sighed as Laris woke demanding to be fed, maybe what truly matters really can be summed up with just a few words…

Chase had described it perfectly after all.

And the greatest of all is love?

  Always.
