by Angel Ramon
The dog becomes more aggressive, but Maria is able to use her knees to kick the dog in the stomach. After kicking it she can hear the dog screaming in pain. Once she sees the dog still on the floor, she finishes it off using her pistol. As painful it is for her to kill the dog, it was either that or she would not make it to the police station.
As she continues up Linwood St, she sees many buildings boarded up and many dead bodies lying on the floor. A couple of zombies are blocking her way and she’s able to kill them easily.
Pistol Ammo: 44
Approaching the end of the block she notices the path to the police station is blocked by a burning bus. With no way around the bus, she’s forced to use alleyways in order to get around the crash site. When she enters the alleyway of a local bookstore she sees a dead end filled with debris, but she can also see where the path continues. There is a door next to the open path.
“Looks like I have to go in the store like it or not.” She says.
When she looks behind her though, she sees a horde of zombies heading her way. The numbers are overwhelming and she knows her shotgun won’t be enough to kill all the zombies. However she spots a flammable container, now how it ended up there is another question. Maria can care less though. She waits for the zombies to get close to the canister.
“For my sake this had better work…” She says low hoping her idea comes to fruition.
Shooting the canister, it explodes and burns the many zombies next to it. Only two zombies remain to her relief. Taking them out, she looks towards the door leading to the side entrance of the bookstore. To her surprise the door opens easily and she enters the store.
Looking around in the store, she hears pure silence and most of the bookshelves are still intact.
“Hello, is anyone here?” She screams out loud looking for survivors.
No one answers at first, but then she hears the sound of an insect. Figuring that it’s a mosquito she ignores it. When she enters the history section though, she sees an ugly looking creature with four legs and two claws. The creature moves slowly towards her ready to strike. Maria pulls out her shotgun not knowing what the creature is going to do.
The creature is code named, “Flea Drainer” named after a flea whose mission in life is to drain the blood from its host.
Maria tries to shoot it with her shotgun, but the Flea jumps up to the ceiling just in time. It crawls on the ceiling and prepares to pounce on her. The flea jumps down towards her, but she’s able to backflip out of the way. The flea attack Maria with its claw and hits her slightly causing a small amount of damage. Afterward it tries to jump towards her. However she shoots a shotgun shell right in the kisser killing the flea.
Shotgun Ammo: 5
Taking a deep breath, she walks around the bookstore again. When she gets to the counter, she sees two jars of Gunpowder A.
Picked up two jars of Gunpowder A.
A red book catches her attention with the popular clock room in the bell tower. A page in the book reads:
“In order to get access to Chronos’s promised land, one must solve is puzzle in the room below. The clock must read 00:15 and the each individual clock must be fed properly in order to match the time.” (The rest of the page is wet and illegible)
“The promise land of Chronos? Chronos is the master of time, so this must refer to the bell tower. The only thing I don’t get is the clock puzzle, I guess when I get there it will be clear. First I have to make sure I’m still alive when I get there.” Maria tries to understand the quote in the book. All the other pages are mysteriously blank.
Seeing there are no more items of interest, she heads for the back exit. However, another flea jumps in front of her to her shock. This time though she’s ready and is able to kill it easily with 2 shotgun shells.
Shotgun Ammo: 3
To her surprise though another flea uses its claw to attack her from behind and she takes a good deal of damage from the attack.
Condition: Caution (Level 1)
Before she could turn around to defend herself, the creature jumps on her and takes her down. The flea begins to take small bites on Maria and the bites become faster.
“No… Somebody HELP!!!” She screams for her life hoping someone will hear her.
The back door opens and Bill comes into the store.
“Get away from her! Hold on Maria…” He screams as he starts shooting the creature.
Once Bill kills the creature, he checks up on Maria to make sure she’s ok.
“Are you ok?” Bill asks.
“Yes, thank you. I thought you ran away to the station.” She replies in relief.
“I was, but then I heard that monster again. This time it called my name. I’m telling you he’s after us. This is not your normal creature.” Bill says frantically.
“No, could it be? Could it be that Mr. Z is back? I hope not…” She says to herself and then she replies to Bill, “Are you sure?”
“Ooo… Bill!!!” A monstrous voice screams.
“Is that enough proof for you? That bastard is here, we’re done!” He screams and runs away without waiting for Maria.
“Oh dear… it can’t be. Looks like this will indeed be a long night. I hope it was just our heads hearing things.” She says to herself.
Before she leaves she notices that Bill dropped a pack of shotgun shells and she decides to pick them up.
+10 Shotgun Shells. Shotgun Ammo: 13
She heads out of the bookstore and she sees the police station across the street. The gate is semi-closed but not locked. She heads in through the gate and the gate closes. A few seconds later the gate open again and she turns around only to see an injured Bill walk into the courtyard.
“Bill…” She screams.
“Maria… we gotta…” Bill says weakly and then a creature that has the same shape and look to that of Mr. Z.”
Bill screams and backs up until the creature corners him to the wall. Maria can only watch as the creature grabs him and lets out a tentacle from its hand. The tentacle removes the insides of Bill’s body, killing him. Maria now realizes that this creature is not the same Mr. Z as the first two adventures.
This creature is code named, “Nemesis”. It is from the same species of the previous two Mr. Z superhumans. However, this one is upgraded with enhanced endurance, the ability to stick a tentacle in a human, and the scariest of all, increased speed. Maria finds herself in front of the creature ready to defend herself.
“Ooo… Maria!!!” Nemesis screams her name out.
“Oh crap, Bill wasn’t lying. He is after us. Well, come on you test tube freak show me your worst!” Maria says nervously but keeping her confidence up at the same time.
Nemesis runs after Maria trying to punch her and she’s able to sidestep to the left. She shoots her shotgun at him which weakens him a bit. However, it is still strong and turns around quickly. The creature grabs her and throws her towards the bushes. Nemesis runs and jumps towards her trying to do a double-axe handle punch. Maria is able to gain consciousness and roll out of the way out of pure intuition. Nemesis hits the ground hard to the point where the ground shakes ever so slightly.
She gets up while Nemesis continues to scream out her name. When she gets up, Nemesis runs and punches her back down to the ground hard.
Condition: Caution (Level 1)
Nemesis picks her up and a tentacle pops out of its hand. It gets ready to stick the tentacle into Maria’s mouth. However, she’s able to hold on to her shotgun and has the power to lift the gun to its head. She pulls the trigger and blasts it on its head. As a result, Nemesis loses its grip on her and falls to the ground. She thinks that its dead and heads towards Bill to check up on him. However, checking his condition proves to be useless as he’s dead and she sees his intestines are on the floor. He’s holding something…
Picked up a Blue Keycard.
Before she can see what the keycard is for Nemesis gets up again.
“Son of a bitch, it might not be Mr.
Z exactly but he recovers like trenchy did. This is not good…” She says in shock.
She continues to pump shotgun shells towards the creature and eventually it does go down.
“Ooo… Maria!!!” Nemesis screams before it goes down and it drops a briefcase on the floor.
Maria takes a deep breath and opens the briefcase to find a new pistol.
Picked up an Eagle-4 Handgun. This handgun has a scope that increases of a head shot by 40%. Replaces Handgun.
Shotgun Ammo: 6
She also takes a look at the keycard and it reads:
“This keycard gives the code for a case that contains the key to the NYPD Special Forces office.”
She looks at the entrance of the police station and looks at Bill’s dead body. She begins to shed a few tears knowing that he saved her during the previous outbreak and he protected her before Angel was able to catch up. However, she feels that the Special Forces office might just give her some answers to where her husband went and might reveal more about Bill.
She heads inside the police station…
Chapter 3
As Maria enters the police station, she finds that the station is not in the same shape it was in when she entered it last year. She notices that the two of the main floor doors and the 2nd floor library are boarded up. It looks like the remaining officers that survived were trying to barricade themselves. The scene here has the feeling of a last battle where the officers are fighting for their lives. She heads for the main computer in the reception area.
“Notice to all NYPD personal. Due to the emergency situation, the key to the Special Forces office has been moved to the locker room in the back secured case. Please insert the blue keycard to obtain code to the case…
Maria inserts the keycard into the card reader.
“Keycard accepted. Today’s code is 0131.”
Nothing else appears on the computer. Maria heads to the western office and the office is filled with many zombies. A couple of zombies get too close for comfort and she uses her shotgun to blast both of them. More zombies in police uniforms are moving towards her. The room is divided by one long table that is still filled with party favors from the welcome party that never took place. Seeing that her ammo is rather low she’ll try to clear one side of the room and get through.
She remembers that her pistol is equipped with a scope and now she can easily land head shots. Using the Eagle-4, she shoots the three zombies on the right side of the room in the head. They each go down instantly after having their brains shot. Maria runs through the open corridor until she’s grabbed by a zombie that was playing dead on the floor. It grabs her leg, but she steps on its head with much force. As a result it begins to bleed and she nearly forces her to vomit.
Pistol Ammo: 41
She heads for the door behind her that leads to the locker room. As she begins to search for the key, a hard knock on the door is heard on the metal door. Maria quickly locks the door to avoid zombies breaking into the room. She sees a red light on one of the safety boxes and she opens it. Inside the box is a key…
Picked up key to Bank.
“Hmm… not the key I was looking for, but I’ll take it. It might still be useful.” She says as she pockets the key.
Heading to the back she finds the safety box that the key is located. However she doesn’t remember the code entirely.
Please enter the code. You entered 0132 which is incorrect, please try again.
Maria puts her thinking cap on and remembers there were two ones in the code and decides to try again.
Please enter the code. You entered 0131 and the case is now open.
Picked up Key to Special Forces Office.
After getting the key she heads for the office which is upstairs. However she is met with a gang of zombies in the west hallway. She begins to shoot them in the head until they go down, but as she turns the corner a zombie ambushes her. The zombie is able to land a good bite before she’s able to push it away. She suffers a bad bite that opens her right arm and it begins to bleed profusely.
Condition: Caution (Level 2)
Not wanting to take a chance, she quickly heads into the dark room. As she enters she sees a female officer, but she can’t tell if it’s a zombie of not. She points her gun at the officer…
“Don’t shoot! I’m not a zombie!” The officer pleads with Maria who puts her gun down.
“Oh you’re an officer! I’m surprised you’re still alive. What happened here?” Maria asks.
“I’m Rita and who you might be?” Rita introduces herself and asks Maria for her identity.
“I’m Maria and I’m the wife of Special Forces officer Angel. I’m looking for him. Do you happen to know where he might have gone?”
“I’m afraid not my dear. After the second outbreak here in Brooklyn, the police force kind of scattered to the point where it became every person for themselves. You have to understand that we’re not prepared or even closed to being trained for these kinds of situations.” Rita answers Maria.
“I figured that, after all who would expect Hybrid to go to such extremes just to cover their asses. Seesh… they even have a monster who looks like it’s programmed to kill law enforcement.” Maria answers.
“You mean Nemesis? Yeah I seen that monster for myself, I managed to escape but my comrades weren’t as lucky.” Rita says in a low saddened tone.
“I wish Angel was here. I love that man so much! He would know what to do… argghhh!” Maria says and the pain of the bite begins to get worse.
“You’re hurt! Calm down I’ll patch you up.” Rita says while she patches Maria’s wound and she continues to talk, “Look, I’m sure Angel is ok, but I’m sure he taught you to be brave. You must be strong and to be honest I really think you might be the sole survivor of all this.”
“Why do you say that?” Maria asks.
“I truly believe that Hybrid intends to make sure Brooklyn and NYC go by the wayside. I think their mission is to destroy NYC and any evidence of their wrongdoing in the area. It sounds screwed up, but how else is a criminal supposed to cover their tracks.” Rita gives an ominous answer.
“No, they wouldn’t…” Maria has trouble accepting the possibility of having her childhood home being destroyed as part of a Hybrid cover up.
“Well that’s how Hybrid operates sweetheart. It’s best you get out of here. It’s not safe here anymore. You might have better luck elsewhere.” Rita answers Maria and is done patching her up.
“I’ll go back out in the hallway to make sure the coast is clear.” Rita heads out of the hallway.
Maria begins to explore the Dark Room and finds several items.
Picked up 2 jars of Gunpowder A and Gunpowder B.
Maria finds a reloading station where she combines all 4 jars of Gunpowder A and the 2 jars of Gunpowder B. She gets 4 packs of Handgun bullets and 2 cases of shotgun shells.
+80 Handgun Bullets. Pistol Ammo: 115
+20 Shotgun Shells. Shotgun Ammo: 25
The only thing she is unable to find is health. However she knows she might not have too much time to make her last escape. She heads back to the hallway where Rita has killed the zombie that had bitten her earlier. Maria feels comfortable leaving Rita down in the hall as she heads upstairs.
“You’ll be ok down here Rita?” Maria asks.
“Yes, I’ll be fine. Please be careful…” Rita says concerned.
When she gets upstairs she finds herself in the room where Chief Irons had a couple of statues of Gods of the moon and the sun. As she enters the room though, the statues are no longer there. Instead she finds a group of four zombies that she picks off with her handgun. She blows her gun after killing off the zombies. Heading through the door, she enters the dull gray hallway that is empty. She finds the door to the Special Forces office and uses the key. Once she uses the key, she discards it, knowing it doesn’t open anything else.
“I hope to find some answers about Angel in here.” She says to herself.
/> When she enters the office, she finds the room is ransacked. The first stop for her is the locker where she finds a new weapon.
Picked up a Grenade Launcher. Contains 6 standard grenade rounds.
As she looks around the room she also finds a first aid spray that restores her health back to perfect.
Picked up a First-Aid Spray. This is able to heal me to full health.
Maria uses First-Aid Spray.
Condition: Fine
When she looks around the room further, she’s able to find the desk of her husband. Eventually Angel’s journal is found and she begins to read the most recent entry.
September 9, 2013
“Today it’s the one year anniversary of the last zombie/virus outbreak by Hybrid. I’m almost convinced that Hybrid was behind all this, trying to screw with their experiments. They saw their experiments were out of control and they try to hide it by getting rid of us. Well not on this man’s watch, I have yet to tell Maria for fear of scaring her to death. I’m on my way to Croatia along with Luis to deal with Hybrid at their international headquarters.
After all, the best way to deal with a corrupt corporation is to take them on at their own playing field. I intend to expose them for their sins and bring them to Justice. As for my dear Maria, I know I been secretive with you telling you I had to work late. I feel bad lying to you that I would be in a week long convention in Long Island, but I didn’t want you to worry about me.
I’m sorry in advance for lying to you and if you somehow have managed to read this journal please know that I’m doing this for our future. I’ll be fine, I promise you from the bottom of my heart. I leave tomorrow for Croatia. At this point I have no idea how long I intend to be there. Heck, not even the NYPD knows I’m on this dangerous mission. If I get fired, screw it. I would rather be fired than let Hybrid continue to get away butchering the human population. Forgive me Maria, I love you so much. I promise when I get back things will get better for us, even if it means we have to move elsewhere, away from civilization. Love Angel.
“Aww… Angel. I love you too, so it looks like I won’t see you anytime soon.” Maria says after reading the journal entry and takes a sigh, then says, “Looks like I will be solo for this escape mission after all. Looks like there’s nothing else for me here, it’s time to get out of here.”
