Callum Page 10

Now, as he made his way down along the hallway, into his living room, he spotted one of Macy’s dolls on the sofa, and he knew he should have just ended things there and then.

Callum sighed as he walked to the kitchen. His head hurt. He grabbed some painkillers from the cupboard, then got a glass from a different cupboard for water.

He had just put the tablets in his mouth and was washing them back when Georgie walked into the kitchen, wearing another set of tiny shorts, and an equally tiny t-shirt.

She froze the moment she saw Callum, giving him a worried look. He knew she was still worried about what Macy had said earlier that evening.

If Callum was completely honest, when Macy said what she had, part of him wanted to laugh. He knew the minute the words were out of her mouth, that Liam was to blame.

What had bothered him more though, was the fact they had been talking about him. Still, knowing Liam as he did, he knew Georgie nor Amelia would have had little choice in the matter when it came to the conversation. In his heart, he knew he should have handled things a little differently with Georgie. The look of panic on her face was hard for him to see.

He also knew she was a little hurt by the fact he had someone checking on her. He had considered that Amelia would have been the less obvious choice, but he knew Liam turning up, let the cat out of the bag. Now she probably thought he didn’t trust her, but nothing was further from the truth

Fucking Liam! He thought to himself. Fuck this whole damn mess.

“I’m sorry,” she finally said, remaining next to the door, suddenly aware she was not wearing very much. She crossed her arms in front of her as if to cover herself up, shifting nervously from one foot to the other. “I didn’t think you would be home yet.”

“I just got in,” Callum said, smiling at her. “I have a headache; I just wanted some water and a couple of painkillers.”

“Me too,” she replied, still making no effort to move further into the kitchen. “Water I mean, I just checked on Macy, and I was going to call it a night,”

“Is she okay?” Callum asked, giving her a questioning look.

“Sound asleep,” Georgie assured him with a nervous smile.

“Great. Then I will leave you to it,” Callum said, giving her one last smile before he walked to the door, giving her a little space and some privacy. “Good night, Georgie.”

“Good night, Callum,” Georgie replied, stepping aside, allowing Callum to pass by before she hurried across the kitchen to get her water. As she passed him, her now familiar perfume invaded his nostrils. Instinctively he breathed it in. It was a smell he had grown to like.

Callum stopped outside the kitchen, releasing a long sigh as he thought about what had happened earlier that evening. He knew he needed to clear the air between them both, putting what happened behind them once and for all.

He turned back to the kitchen but stopped when he saw her stretching up to get something from the cupboard. As she stretched, her t-shirt rode up her back a little, revealing a small Tinker Bell tattoo on the top of her left hip.

Callum could feel his cock instantly twitch. His eyes dropped to her ass, and for the first time, he actually noticed what an incredible body this girl had. He couldn’t help but wonder what else was hiding underneath the tiny shorts and t-shirt.

He quickly closed his eyes, shutting down all his thoughts except one, she was Macy’s nanny, and Macy loved her.

“Do you need some help,” he asked, making her jump with fright, as he slowly opened his eyes once more.

“Callum!” Georgie exclaimed as she turned around, surprised to see Callum still standing there. She turned back to the cupboard, trying to reach whatever she was trying to reach once more. “I decided to make hot chocolate instead, but I can’t seem to…”

Before she even finished her sentence, Callum hurried towards her, leaning over her to get the hot chocolate cartridges for the coffee machine. As he did, his body pressed against hers, as once more he breathed in her glorious scent.

As their bodies touched, Georgie’s breath seemed to catch in her throat, and for a moment Callum stilled.

What the fuck are you doing? He thought to himself.

“Um,” he coughed, quickly stepping back, holding out the hot chocolate to her. “There you go.”

“Thank you,” Georgie replied, her voice suddenly smaller as her face flushed with embarrassment.

Georgie quickly turned back to the counter as Callum closed his eyes, shaking the thoughts from his mind. He needed to keep this professional.

“Is everything okay?” She asked. He opened his eyes once again, and was surprised to find her looking at him.

“About today,” Callum said, knowing that he needed to get to the point, then get to bed quickly. “I know you’re probably upset that I asked Amelia to drop by…”

“This is your home,” Georgie quickly replied, her face flushing with embarrassment.

“I know,” Callum replied, smiling at Georgie, trying his hardest to set her mind at ease. “But I just wanted to say; I didn’t do it because I don’t trust you. I do, honestly. I just thought, I don’t know; maybe you could use the support.”

“It’s okay,” Georgie replied, giving him a warm smile. “Amelia was actually really nice; I think she is someone I would like to be friends with.”

“She is,” Callum nodded, smiling at Georgie once more. “And so is Emmy, I’m sure you’ll get to meet her soon too.”

“Is she popping by tomorrow?” Georgie asked with a laugh, as she gave him a cautious look.

“No,” Callum replied laughing too, letting his eyes linger on hers for a moment. She really was very pretty. Once you looked past the pink hair and excessive ear decorations, she was really quite a beautiful young lady. “But now that you live here, you will get to know the whole family. I do not doubt that they will all love you as much as Macy seems to.”

“I’d like that,” Georgie replied, as her face suddenly flushed with embarrassment.

“Is everything okay?” Callum asked, giving her a questioning look.

“I… I just don’t want you to think that I was talking about your private business today,” Georgie blurted out. “I mean, I guess I was, but not in the way you might assume. Amelia mentioned that you said Macy had been upset, and Liam asked why she was upset. I explained you had a visitor, but Liam guessed who I was talking about.”

“It’s okay,” Callum sighed, knowing that he had maybe over-reacted about the whole thing.

“The thing is,” Georgie continued. “I know you weren’t happy with what Macy repeated, but I don’t think your brother meant any harm. He loves Macy so much; I think he was just worried, that’s all.”

“I know,” Callum sighed, knowing she was right about Liam. Despite all Liam’s irritating ways, Callum knew he was the loyalist man he knew. For him, the family was everything, and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for theirs. He also knew that Macy loved Liam and that Liam loved her in return. He just wished he watched his language when he was around her.

“Anyway,” Georgie sighed as she looked down at her empty glass. “I guess I should make my hot chocolate, then head to bed.”

“Okay,” Callum replied, smiling at her once more before he took a step backward. “Goodnight, Georgie.”

“Goodnight, Callum,” Georgie replied, returning his smile, before she turned, pushing her hot chocolate into the machine, pressing the button down to start it.

Callum turned and made his way across the living room, then up the stairs, smiling to himself that he had cleared the air with Georgie.

As he made his way along the corridor, Callum thought about what had happened downstairs in the kitchen. He needed to keep a check on his thoughts, Georgie may be a young, extremely attractive young lady, but she was also now one of the most important people in Macy’s life. That must come before everything else. He needed to keep his feelings in check.

He reached Macy’s doorway, peeking inside, smili
ng to himself as he watched his little girl sleep. She looked happier than he had ever seen her before. She looked peaceful and contented lying there in her bed. Finally, the look of complete sadness was gone; now she looked calmer.

Callum stepped back to close the door. As he did, he glanced down the corridor just as Georgie reached her own bedroom door. She looked up at Callum, giving him a beautiful smile, and Callum could feel something deep down inside him. Something he hadn’t felt in such a long time.

He returned her smile, but he quickly turned, heading to his own room.

Once inside, he walked to the bed, flopping down without evening taking off his shoes.

What the fuck is wrong with you? He mentally scolded himself. You’ve known her all of five days, have you no self-control?

Callum scrubbed his face with his hands.

He had no idea where these thoughts had suddenly come from. Maybe it was something to do with Camilla.

He thought back to the dinner, of how Camilla was so angry about Macy. He knew that there was no way she would ever accept Macy being in their life, and as much as Callum tried to understand, it hurt him that she refused even to try. Macy was so amazing; he didn’t understand how Camilla could be so cold.

Then when he came home and saw Georgie, he knew this girl already cared a great deal about his daughter. In the few days she had been in their lives, she had changed so much for Macy. The difference was almost night and day.

Maybe he wished that Camilla could have been more like Georgie and it was confusing his feelings for her.

Maybe he wished that this whole mess didn’t have to be so complicated. He loved Macy; he loved her more than life itself. He just didn’t know what kind of future they both would have. As much as he tried, he couldn’t imagine beyond the next day, and simply getting through it.

His head hurt and he felt so tired. He closed his eyes, hoping sleep would claim him.

Callum leaned against the cool glass of the elevator. He felt tired. As tired as he was the night before, sleep just didn’t come. He didn’t know why, but Georgie kept creeping into his thought. When he closed his eyes, he could see her standing there before him in her tiny shorts, her top riding up her back, and of course the tattoo.

Every time he remembered the smell of her perfume, he could feel his cock twitch until eventually he had a full blown hard on. He thought about relieving himself, but he knew he would never be able to look Georgie in the eye again, so instead he turned on his side, forcing her from his mind until sleep finally arrived somewhere after four.

However, he had only dropped off when Macy woke up, calling for Carolynn once more. Callum finally made it back to bed a little after five.

The day had felt endless, which was just made worse by a late meeting, but now it was over and he was home. He just wanted to grab a bottle of beer, then fall into bed.

As he stepped off the elevator, he could hear music coming from the apartment before he even opened the door. Slipping his key into the lock, he pushed the door open, then made his way down the hall as the sound of Macy squealing with laughter mixed with the music.

He reached the living room, stopping when he found Georgie and Macy dancing to some song he had never heard before, but he liked the beat. He looked at Macy’s little face, all Callum saw was pure joy. Her eyes were fixed on Georgie who had her back to Callum, and they were both dancing around to the music. She was showing Macy the moves, and Macy was copying them as best as she could. She would wave her arms in the air and wiggled her little butt. It was the sweetest thing Callum had ever seen.

Callum smiled and slipped off his jacket as he watched them. Seeing Macy so happy, made him feel happy too. Georgie was amazing with her. She had brought her out of her shell so much in the last couple of days, she was almost like a different child.

Suddenly Macy spotted him, and her smile widened even more.

“DANCE DADDY!” Macy exclaimed, as Georgie spun around, her face instantly flushing with embarrassment.

“I can’t dance,” Callum laughed as he moved further into the room holding up is hands. “Trust me, you don’t want to see that.”

He gave Georgie a smile, and she smiled too.

“Yeah come on!” She exclaimed suddenly. “Dance Daddy.”

She started to move once more, as did Macy, who was giggling with excitement.

“I can’t dance,” Callum insisted, but Georgie gave him a pleading look and he knew he had no choice.

He stared at Georgie for a moment, then looked at Macy as he suddenly started to dance too, as Macy squealed with delight.

Georgie laughed too as Callum gave it all he had. He reached down, picking Macy up and swinging her around before he set her back down.

“DANCE WITH GEORGIE!” Macy cried as she clapped her hands. Without even thinking, Callum turned to Georgie and grabbed her hand, then spun her around, catching her before dipping her backwards just as the song ended. “AGAIN, AGAIN!”

He held Georgie for a moment, his eyes holding hers, both of them breathless. Callum gave her a smile before he stood up, turning back to Macy.

“Are you trying to kill your old man,” Callum laughed as he scooped Macy up into his arms and fell back onto the sofa. He reached up, undoing his tie.

“Are you hungry?” Georgie asked Callum, giving him a questioning look. “Annie has gone out, but she has left you some dinner. I can heat it up for you.”

“I had a sandwich at the office,” Callum replied with a grateful smile. “But thank you.”

“No problem,” Georgie said as she walked towards him and Macy. “I should get this little lady up to bed. She has had a very busy day.”

“Okay,” Callum sighed, kissing the top of Macy’s head. “Goodnight, Princess.”

Georgie picked her up, carrying her towards the stairs.

Callum smiled as he watched them make the way upstairs, then rested his head back and closed his eyes.

  Chapter 11

Callum woke with a start, and was surprised to find Georgie leaning down over him. She was so close, her breath washed over his face. Callum held his breath, his heart hammering faster in his chest as he stared up into her eyes.

“I’m sorry,” she whispered as she looked down into his eyes. “I was just reaching for the throw. I was going to cover you. You were fast asleep.”

She took a tentative step backward, then another.

“I didn’t mean to wake you,” she said, giving him a nervous look.

“No,” he replied, sitting up straight, scrubbing his face with his hands. “It’s fine. It’s just been a long day. Guess I was more tired than I thought.”

Georgie smiled, but didn’t say anything.

“Is Macy asleep?” Callum asked as he pushed up from the sofa.

“She’s spark out,” Georgie replied with a smile. “Surprising how much dancing can tire you out.”

“Tell me about it,” Callum said with a smile. “Great song by the way. Not sure I’ve heard it before.”

“You’ve never heard of Paloma Faith?” Georgie asked giving him a pretend shocked look. “Then you haven’t lived. That song was called Upside Down, I think it’s probably my favourite one.”

“It’s a good song,” Callum agreed, smiling as he thought about Macy dancing to it. “Macy seems to love it.”

“She does,” Georgie replied, smiling too. “She loves music, and dancing. She is so full of life.”

“You know, I was just going to grab a beer,” Callum said, giving her a questioning look. He half expected her to say no. “Would you like to join me?”

“Um,” she sighed, as she glanced up towards the stairs, then turned back and smiled. “Sure.”

“Okay,” Callum replied, surprised that she had said yes. “Take a seat, and I’ll go get them.”

He hurried to the kitchen, grabbing two bottles from the fridge, then hurried back to where Georgie was sitting, holding out a bottle of beer to her. She took it, smiling nervously at Callu
m before he sat down on the sofa next to her.

“Cheers,” he said, unscrewing the cap, then holding it out to Georgie. She tipped her bottle off his, then they both took a sip, as a comfortable silence settled between them.

“So, do you miss home?” Callum said, finally breaking the silence.

“Sometimes,” Georgie replied, and Callum was surprised to see a look of sadness in her eyes. “But I like living in San Francisco.”

“What brought you here?” He asked, taking a sip from his beer. He realised, as much as they had talked over the last few days, Georgie never really spoke about her past. Callum couldn’t help but wonder why that was.

“A mistake,” she replied, giving him a sad smile. “One I would rather forget about.”

“I’m sorry,” Callum said quickly, worried he had upset her or crossed a line.

“It’s okay,” Georgie replied, giving him a smile. “I just don’t believe in looking back. Life is too short for having regrets.”

She smiled once more, then took a sip from her bottle of beer. Callum liked when she smiled. It lit up her face, making her even prettier than she already was.

Still, he was curious about her story. He knew there was definitely one there, he just had no clue what it was. Callum just knew that when he looked into her eyes, there was a sadness there, and he wondered what could have made such a happy, bubbly person so sad deep inside.

Over the remainder of the week, Callum could see the difference in Macy every single day. She was so much happier, as little by little her confidence grew.

It was strange to him though. His penthouse that was once so empty and quiet, was now filled with laughter, music, and so much happiness. What surprised Callum the most was how much he like it. He found that he looked forward to coming home; something that was very alien to him.

He also enjoyed spending time with Georgie after Macy went to bed. She was funny and easy to talk to.

The only one issue remaining was the night time episodes with Macy. No matter how happy she was going to bed, she still woke in the night calling for Carolynn. It frustrated Callum that there seemed to be nothing he could do to make is stop.
