by Anna Widzisz
Elio Conte begged.
She climbed on her tiptoes, her fingers bringing his chin down slightly. She kissed him softly. It was passionate and tender, yet so gentle.
"Do me one last favor and tell them that I died. I don't need them to look for me. I'm no threat to you or anyone else in the Famiglia. I swear."
The Enforcer laughed bitterly before calming down and looking at Savannah again. "To be clear, it's you who's running away this time."
"Yes.” She swallowed. “Yes, I am, Elio."
She backed out, taking her bag from the ground. She didn't even realize earlier that she let go of it. Taking one last glance at the man, seeing the pain in his eyes that was eclipsing the anger his words were filled with. She wanted to stay but she couldn't. She was no longer a stupid girl who wanted to live her life to the fullest.
"You belong with me, Savannah."
Then they would have to find their way back to each other. Because time wasn't on their side. Nothing was on their side. And no one.
She gripped her bag harder as she breathed out, feeling as if she were dying. Because with each second a part of her was. Then with one last sad smile, she came up to Megan's car and opened the door. She looked back one that last time wishing this would all be a dream. A fucking absurd nightmare.
But it wasn't. It was reality and reality hurt more than dreams.
The chains had been broken. But she was not truly free.
PART II and III in Kryptonite (Rarissime duet book 2)
Acknowledgments
Massive thanks go to my readers first and foremost. I couldn’t keep my spirits up while writing books if it wasn’t for you all. It’s what keeps me going and I feel more excited than scared while publishing. I always appreciate your messages, reviews and comments. Keep them coming - I see, I write back. And I love getting to know you.
I wouldn’t do it without my amazing editors - aka my best friends Zuzia and Miruna. Those two have listened to my rants more than I care to admit. I ask them for their opinions non-stop and they still like me (or so I think). Thank you so much for everything. I love you with all my already fucked-up heart and head.
My wonderful betas - Kira and Layla. You made me laugh so many times with those comments and I appreciate each of you for taking the time to read Crossfire and give me a feedback.
Books & Moods for being brilliant, talented girls who have helped me with the book and the way it looks like. You have no idea how much I appreciate your work. Everything is perfect thanks to you. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
It wouldn’t be fair as not to mention my amazing real-life Noah (this nickname stuck and you have to deal with it, dude). He gave me the idea for Elio and Savannah’s date for the sexual storytelling event (also, it has become my long-term business plan because I fucking love the concept). I knew exactly who to ask since I can’t remember any of our outings being boring. You have the most fucked up ideas sometimes and I’m living for that. I miss you!
Last but not least thank you to Francisco for actually answering all those late-night calls when I was in the middle of writing a scene and felt so excited that I had to have you reading it to me so I could hear it with this fucking perfect Sicilian accent. Not to mention the raspy voice that I adore. I call you on purpose. I hope you don’t miss the nights you actually got to sleep because I don’t plan on ever stop calling you to rant.
It’s not just my book, it’s all of yours because it wouldn’t be the same if not for your input. So I cannot ever take full credit for it.

About the Author
Anna Widzisz was born in 1998 in Poland. She studied International Business for her bachelor’s degree. From a very young age she's been writing stories, slowly honing her skills. She also loves traveling, dancing and, of course, reading.
The dark world of the Mafia has always drawn her in and it shows in the countless hours she’s spent documenting about the ins and outs of the criminal organization - yes, she also knows The Godfather book series by heart.
With her debut Omertà series she pulls you into the mafia's terrifying world. Darkness becomes your companion. Scenes that are hard to swallow and matured characters that make you love and hate them at the same time, creating a genuine reflection of what the mafia is really about - power games, torture, murder, lust and perhaps if you look deep enough, love as well.
