“We should go.”
“Nawwww… please, can we stay a little while longer?”
Rolling her big emerald eyes, Siobhan smiled at the attractive girl laying beside her. She found herself lost for a moment admiring the softness of her milky white skin and the luscious full red lips on her beautiful round face. Her hair was ablaze with a bright red color which she had rinsed through only recently, accentuating her stunning facial features especially those big brown cute eyes which hid uncontrollable desires and lust.
She followed the contours of her body, gazing upon perky little breasts which pressed tight against a tight black t-shirt, allowing her eyes to brush over her nipples which protruded erect with desire. There was a firmness to her taut young body that Siobhan desired immensely and she felt it deep inside her, she simply yearned for her.
As far as Siobhan was concerned this girl was stunning, drop dead gorgeous, perfect and she loved her with every ounce of her being. She felt drawn to her in every way.
“Honestly Lisette, we’re late enough already, any later and they will start questioning us.”
Lisette was in her early twenties, with an innocent face that looked years younger. She fluttered her eyelashes and smiled coyly. “Come on babe,” she whispered softly, “I want you so bad, it hurts.”
Desire became all consuming, sweeping over the two girls like a tsunami. Unable to contain herself any longer Lisette shuffled forward positioning her lips so close to those of her lover, she could feel the warmness of her breath on her face.
Siobhan never could resist her charm and succumbed willingly to the temptation of her young lover. She immediately shivered with desire, goosebumps spreading quickly all over every inch of her soft smooth skin.
There was a raw tenderness about the way they kissed, it was carnal and lustful with a savage eroticism that took them both as they pressed their lips hard together. Breath shortened, heartbeats quickened as they lost themselves in the heat of the moment, in each other.
Tugging at her shirt Lisette slowly pulled it over her slender shoulder to reveal a colorful tattoo that ran from shoulder tip to her elbow – a red rose with entangled vines. Siobhan kissed her smooth skin, tasting her freshness and inhaling her sweet scent. Raising her arms above her head Lisette allowed her lover to remove her shirt completely, her bosom heaved as she began to breathe heavily in the heat of unbridled passion.
Over the course of the next hour the two girls made love, pleasuring each other in every way they knew how. They shared a special connection, one that gave color and meaning to their otherwise drab and grey lives. Against the backdrop of the barren wastelands, the two girls felt alive and invigorated, so much in love.
“We have to get back,” insisted Siobhan.
“I know babe,” replied the red haired girl, pushing her firm breasts into her bra as she reluctantly dressed herself. “God I love you so much!” She leaned forward and kissed Siobhan on the lips, a long, slow passionate embrace that caused her skin to tingle. Goosebumps appeared all over her body.
Outside the sun was starting its downward descent for the evening, inviting the chill of night to prepare itself to invade the desolate city. Nocturnal creatures began to stir, waking from their slumber, readying themselves for a night prowling the streets in search of food.
“Fuck I hate this.”
“Hate what?” asked Siobhan, finishing dressing herself.
“All this hiding. Why can’t we just be who we want to be and not worry what about others think.” She sounded like a spoiled child as she spoke and she knew it but didn’t care, curling her bottom lip and dropping her hands into her lap.
“You know why.”
“Yeah but fuck Martin and his stupid frikkin’ rules. He’s complete nuts and you know it babe.”
“Shhh….,” Siobhan said, placing a finger to Lisette’s full red lips. “We can’t afford to get caught saying shit like that, you know how it is. While we’re here, under his rules we have to tow the line. There is no way he would approve of us so we have to keep everything we do on the down-low, away from prying eyes and away from Martin.”
Crossing her arms in defiance Lisette gave an audible grumble and rolled her eyes. “So when are we going to leave then, we’ve got almost everything we need.”
“Soon baby girl, soon.” The raven-haired Irish girl looked around the room to check on their supplies at their secret location. “You’re right though, we have close to everything we need to get away from this shithole of a place.”
“Ooohh… I can’t wait babe.” Lisette was the excitable type, always showing her emotions, wearing her heart on her sleeve. There was an effervescence and constant energy about her personality that bubbled over with everything that she did
She had worked so hard to make sure that they had everything they needed in order to run away and never come back. All Lisette longed for was to spend the rest of her life in the arms of the girl she loved, held tight and protected from the dangers of the world around her. Never had she loved so deeply and cared so much for anyone – this was the real deal and she knew it, felt it on every pore of her beautiful soft skin.
“You know I hate it here
too,” said Siobhan, getting to her feet, “hate everything about it.”
Lisette gave a smile as she too stood up.
“But even just talking about it is dangerous. We have to pick the right moment to leave and I’m working on that. For now we should just finish packing what we need here and when we’re ready we’ll run away and find ourselves a quiet place together, away from all of this.”
A broad smile swept over the red haired girl’s young face. She gave Siobhan a loving hug.
Stepping out onto the road the cool night air chilled them both and they shivered in unison. They had been away far too long and Siobhan was working on a decent excuse that would wash with the others when they got back. Nothing sprang to mind immediately, none that they hadn’t already used before to cover their tracks anyway. They were still a decent walk back to camp and she was confident that an idea would come to her before they got back.
Both girls often used all the charm, sex appeal and persuasion they possessed to manipulate the roster to get on the same security patrol or work detail. That was relatively easy, a lot easier than trying to make their stories of lateness believable every time, now that was truly the hard part.
When it finally came to her, the precise excuse that might just wash, Siobhan smiled. She leaned over and gave her girlfriend a soft tender kiss on the cheek.

Knot of Evil
“You simply have to believe Martin!”
A long furrow cut along the forehead of the tall middle-aged man. All morning he had been listening intently to his advisor, taking in what he said as he addressed him, feeding him passages and verses from the bible. There was talk of death, destruction, Armageddon and the end of days – it was almost too much to comprehend.
“All the evidence is there, in scripture,” chirped the bird-faced man. Long grey hairs that protruded from his monobrow twitched as he spoke, fluttering like light feathers from above his squinty little eyes that appeared to be positioned far too close together. “God said the city will be captured, the houses plundered, the women ravished and half of the city exiled, but the rest of the people will not be cut off from the city.” His voice changed all of a sudden, to a deliberate, slow croaky tone. “This is what is written Martin, these are God’s words.”
A long awkward silence followed as both men sat staring at one another, thinking, dissecting. For sometime now they had engaged in spirited discussion, reflecting on their lives and what they had become. All comprehension and understanding of the events that had occurred putting them in this predicament had been lost up to this point, as they had simply been too busy fighting hard and trying desperately to stay alive. This was the first time they had taken to actually talk openly about the creatures, the wasteland and the loss of humanity.
Religion had been the central topic of their discussions, with Lucas, the man with the narrow eyes and beak nose remaining stoic in his beliefs. He had been a deeply religious man all his life, committing himself to God in every way, praying and attending church regularly. Having studied the bible and spending some time in theology studies, he had a greater understanding than most of religious concepts and events.
Lucas believed wholeheartedly that there had to be more to this new world than met the eye and he presented a strong case linking the turn with the end of the world. He was a well-learned articulate man, possessing a wealth of knowledge and wisdom, delivering his messages with authority, ensuring his every word was heard and understood fully.
Martin had long felt that there was more to all of this calamity than just sheer coincidence and amidst this heated debate everything started to make sense to him. He cast his mind back to the night the world turned where he had been enjoying a night out with his wife Holly, celebrating their wedding anniversary at the 4Horsemen Bar & Grill.
What started as a pleasant evening quickly turned to shit as chaos reigned that night, in no time at all total and utter pandemonium had broken out. They had been quickly overrun by reanimated versions of friends and strangers alike, all of whom were trying desperately to kill them. Fear gripped every person at the establishment as they struggled to comprehend what was happening. No-one had a valid explanation, not even close. In no time at all they found themselves trapped on the first floor, where they had remained ever since.
Now, thanks to Lucas’ intervention Martin was convinced that the demons they had encountered, these despicable and wicked undead creatures who experienced two deaths, were all part of the grand Architect’s master plan. He had come to the realization that the sacrifice mankind was making was indeed preparation for the second coming of Christ.
“I get it Lucas,” Martin said, his speech slow and concise. He now had total clarity and everything before him appeared crystal clear. This insight was to prove instrumental in changing the lives of many people in the future but for now, he simply felt invigorated and empowered.
“I believe you do Martin,” the bird-faced man said, squawking yet again. “It is no coincidence that you and I are here together at this place, at this time. God moves in mysterious ways, you know this and he has placed us here at the 4Horsemen for a reason. It is a sign from the Almighty, one which we must heed. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse Martin, can you not see it?”
“What do you mean?”
Stroking his pointy chin Lucas felt the grey stubble scrape loudly against his fingers. He thought for a moment before replying, wanting to make sure his leader fully understood what he meant.
“This is a sign, if ever I have seen one. We are alive Martin, spared by God Almighty, allowed to breathe His air for a reason. We have a higher purpose, something much greater than we first knew for this is the Apocalypse and we have to do God’s work to prepare for the arrival of the Four Horsemen.”
Martin’s eyes widened, his mind immediately began to spring into action. He was now quite convinced Lucas was right in every way.
“We will need an army, we cannot cleanse the world without one and so you will have to build Martin and build quickly. Grow this flock and build a large, loyal congregation as big as you can as fast as you can.”
With a slow nod the corner of Martin’s mouth curled upwards in an expression that was neither a smile nor a smirk, it harbored something much more sinister. The thought of leading a large group of followers appealed to his ego and all of a sudden he felt a twinge of power surge within him, a feeling he had not experienced for quite sometime, but one he was accustomed to nevertheless.
In his former life Martin was a man of influence, a mover, shaker, power-broker and deal-maker. He was a leader of men and a man of status. Ruthless in all his business dealings, he was despised by many for his unscrupulous tactics and lack of ethics in his pursuit of influence and dominance over others. Elevating himself up the food-chain in this post-apocalyptic broken world had huge appeal and in these discussions he found himself whetting his appetite for power once again, already seeing himself taking over the city.
Lucas was oblivious to the beast he was about to unleash upon the world, his agenda was slightly more honorable. Unlike his leader the scrawny man with the beak nose, pointy chin and disproportionate eye socket placement was subservient by nature, yet at the same time very cold and calculating behind the scenes. A master manipulator, people did his bidding without consciousness or awareness of what they were doing and Martin had little or no idea that he was about to become yet another pawn in Lucas’ human puppet show.
“So how do we do this?” Martin asked, rubbing the thinning grey hair atop his head. “How the hell are we going to recruit numbers out here, in the wastelands?”
“Ahh…,” Lucas stood up as he spoke, his withered old body hunched over itself as his bones creaked, “Recruitment is both the question and the answer to this riddle and that is precisely what you will do. In God’s name implement and enforce a law which instructs all survivors to join us, or they face the consequences.”
Martin thought for a brie
f moment. “What consequences?”
“Join us now and fight for God, or face the Almighty Himself at the gates.”
“You’re saying we should put people to death?”
“If they deserve to die, God will take them. You have to be firm Martin, once you start your cause you must stick to every principle or people will not follow you.”
Barbaric!
Martin thought for a moment, contemplating the tough world he now lived in and found himself unable to disagree.
“You are right Lucas, we can ill-afford anyone getting in the way of our plans. What of those who desert us or steal from us, how do you propose we deal with these heathens then?”
“Martin, this is God’s will, we are His soldiers preparing for His arrival. Those who stand in our way, in His way, should meet a similar fate. You cannot be overly merciful or your congregation will rebel against you and test your resolve at every opportunity. You must be firm!”
A shiver ran down Martin’s spine. He then smiled an evil smile.

Dance with the Devil
The weeks passed by at an alarming rate. Time simply flew by, it always does when busy.
A large yellow moon burned brightly in the night sky, gazing watchfully over the barren city below like the single eye of a giant Cyclopes. Light shimmered as it reflected off buildings, creating long shadows that stretched across the deserted streets everywhere.
It was a serene somewhat eerie night, peaceful and quiet for the most part, the same calmness one might feel just before a major calamity such as an earthquake. Nothing stirred except silent shadows which stretched from dark corners and crevices enveloping everything in their path.
Candlelight flickered, dancing off the pensive faces of those that had gathered together on the first floor of the 4Horsemen Bar & Grill. The mood inside the room was sombre and serious bringing with it a certain chill. Yet still the flame burned brightly.
