So they planned to take her home. That was nicer than making her find her own way back. She supposed that was the polite thing to do, given that they weren’t really in the kidnapping business. “It will be good to get back to New York.”

“You’re not going to New York.” Law crossed his arms over his chest in a deeply forbidding gesture. “You’re going to Dallas.”

Riley’s jaw firmed stubbornly. “You’re not going anywhere but home with us, Kinley. I know you’ll have things to clear up there, but not until the press’s interest dies down. We’re going to hole up at Dominic’s.”

“It’s our place, not just mine anymore. It’s our home, and we want to take you there with us.” Dominic took her hand.

Why? The question floated through Kinley’s head, but she didn’t speak it. What was the purpose? To put them in the position where they had to explain the duty they felt to her, the responsibility to make sure she was safe from the media, the feds, and whoever else wanted a chunk of her?

“Kinley, we’re going about this all wrong.” Dominic raked a hand through his hair.

Annabelle rolled her eyes. “You sure are.”

Dominic ignored her. “Kinley, pet, we want you to marry us and live with us. We’ll take care of you in every way. Is that understood?”

Annabelle rolled her eyes. “Doms. What is wrong with you?”

Hope lit up a corner of Kinley’s heart, but she refused to settle for less than everything. She wouldn’t be the girl who took less than she deserved ever again. “I won’t live with men who see me as just a responsibility to be taken care of. I won’t marry men who don’t love me.”

Dominic’s eyes flared. “You haven’t said the words either, pet.”

He had a point, just not a good one. “I got shot saving you. That should speak very clearly about my feelings. After all, I’ll bear the scars of loving you for the rest of my life.”

Dominic turned stark white. He looked somewhere between horrified and tongue tied, and suddenly Kinley believed what they were trying to say. It took everything she had not to giggle. She loved teasing her Dom Dom.

“You will never do that again.” He pointed a finger at her. “I swear to god, pet, if you ever throw yourself bodily in front of a bullet again, we will give you the spanking of a lifetime. You won’t be able to sit down for a week. A month. And there will be no orgasms. Ever again.”

Law moved in, wearing a grin on his rugged face. She loved seeing him smile. “Forgive him, baby. We’re all still in a little bit of shock. We thought you were going to die, that we’d lost you. I love you, Kinley. And if you don’t come home with us and be our wife, I’ll do everything I can to persuade you. No, I suck at that. I’ll pester you.” He sighed. “Fuck that. I’ll just kidnap you again until you say ‘I do.’”

Riley glared at his brother. “Smooth, bro. Thanks.” Then Riley focused all his attention on her. “I love you, Kinley. Will you please marry us?”

Tears filled her eyes, happy ones. After Simone, she knew how much it took for Riley to be the one to ask. “Yes, and I love you so much. You, too, my stubborn and humorless Master. I love you, Dom Dom.”

Dominic laughed, the sound booming through the room and filling her with joy. “I love you, pet. And once you’re healthy again, you’ll see just how much.”

They all surrounded her, crowding her as they began to talk about what had happened. They held her and kissed her and promised to never be apart.

Kinley sat back and relaxed because she was with her men. Her loves. Her future. Her forever.

  Steal the Light

  Thieves, Book 1

  By Lexi Blake

  Coming August 2013!

When dealing with demons, the devil’s in the details…

Stealing mystical and arcane artifacts is a dangerous business, especially for a human, but Zoey Wharton is an exceptional thief. The trick to staying alive is having friends in all the wrong places. While having a witch and a werewolf on the payroll helps, being partners with a vampire really opens doors.

Zoey and Daniel were childhood sweethearts until a violent car crash took his life and left her shattered. When Daniel returned from the grave as a vampire, his only interest in Zoey was in keeping her safely apart from the secrets of his dark world. He has vowed to protect her, but his heart seems as cold as the night he calls home.

Five years later, a mysterious new client named Lucas Halfer offers Zoey a fortune to steal the Light of Alhorra. The search for the Light leads Zoey into the arms of an earthbound faery prince. Devinshea Quinn sweeps her off her feet, showing her everything the supernatural world has to offer, but Daniel still calls to her heart.

As the true nature of the Light is revealed, Zoey discovers Halfer is a demon and much more than money is at stake. Per her contract, she must give him the Light or spend an eternity in Hell. What’s a girl to do except fight for her soul…and her heart.

I finally let myself look at the man I had loved most of my life. I had been dreading this moment since I’d first heard the shots, first seen my Danny with silver bullets carving up his torso. He was so still lying there on the floor. I turned on the light and couldn’t stop a short, startled cry. He was ashen, as though I was too late and nothing could bring him back from the second, final death. I fell to my knees beside him, tears streaking down my face. I hadn’t told him. I hadn’t told any of them that this was the place Halfer had taken me to. Not this cheap motel room, but a place where Daniel died again and again and there was nothing I could do to save him.

Then I saw it—the slightest movement of his chest. It was light. It was so shallow I would have missed it if I hadn’t been close, but it was there all the same. I still had a chance to save him.

“Okay buddy, come on.” I put my wrist to his mouth. “Wake up. The dinner bell is ringing.”

I got nothing. There wasn’t even the slightest movement to let me know he was in there somewhere. I reached into the pocket of his leather duster jacket. Daniel was extremely handy and almost never went anywhere without that stupid leatherman’s tool. He was forever pulling it out and using the little screwdriver or the corkscrew or the file. I flipped through the tools, locating one that would work. The corkscrew was applicable. I was opening his favorite vintage.

Sharp pain bit at me as I forced the tip of the tool into my wrist. I didn’t go far or drag it down. I cut just enough to bleed. If I could just give Daniel a taste, he might be able to do the rest for himself.

I pressed the wound on my left arm against his lips and squeezed with my right hand to get the blood flowing. After a moment, I felt the beautiful press of his mouth on my wrist and then his tongue caressing my skin.

“Come back, Daniel,” I implored him.

His eyes opened but they still had a sleepy look to them. He shoved my arm away and managed to push himself up to sitting. He slumped there with his back against the bed, an accusatory look in his eyes.

  “What are you doing, Zoey?”

“Saving you.” I tried to put my wrist back to his mouth, but he pushed it away. Anger bloomed inside me. “Do you really want to die that badly? Or is it me? Do you not want me? Do you want me to get you some hooker, Danny? Would a prostitute be more acceptable?”

Daniel laughed, but it was a wretched sound. “Not want you? That’s a laugh. I can’t help but want you. Even if I hated you I would want you. I…Zoey, you don’t know what you’re doing. You don’t know what you’re asking for. Get my cell phone and call the club. It’s where you should have gone in the first place.”

“No.” I wasn’t about to argue with him. There wasn’t time. Even now I could see the small strength that one sip had given him was waning. “I’m the only one who can help you.”

Daniel shook his head. “No. I won’t take you. Not like this.”

“We did this before and everything
was fine.” I didn’t understand his stubbornness.

“I was an idiot. I could have killed you.”

“But you didn’t, and you won’t kill me now.” It was painfully obvious to me that my little wrist wasn’t going to be tempting enough for Daniel. We were going to have to do this the hard way. I pulled my T-shirt over my head.

“I can hurt you in other ways, Z.” Daniel’s eyes had closed. He leaned his head back against the bed as though even the small act of talking sapped his strength. “When we did it before, we didn’t know what it meant. If we did this now, it would mean something. It would bind us in ways you don’t want.”

“You have no idea what I want.” I got out of my shoes and slipped my pants off. I wanted him to live, and I was willing to fight him to get my way. He had no idea how far I would go to not live in a world without him. Even if he went back to ignoring me tomorrow, I would be all right with it because he was alive.

  “You don’t want this.”

I ignored him in favor of unclasping my bra and sliding out of my underwear. I wasn’t the smartest girl in the world when it came to the vampire world, but I knew a few things. Vampires liked sex with their blood. It was an integral part of the feeding process, and Daniel had denied himself for a very long time. Vampires fed off of sexual energy as readily as the blood. He needed both very badly. I had to hope that the combination of the two would be too much to resist.

I straddled his half-dead body and sat on the part of him I hoped would come to life very soon.

Daniel’s eyes flew open, and for a moment, he just looked at me and breathed. He shook his head even as his hands came up almost unwillingly to circle my waist. His fingers roamed over my skin in restless patterns, finally making their way up to cup my breasts. His thumbs flicked over my rigid nipples, sparking pure arousal across my skin.

“God, I can smell you.” He breathed in, his fangs glinting in the low light. A single finger trailed down my torso to my pussy. He was right. I was already warm and soft. The intimacy of what we were about to do flared desire through my system.

“Touch me, Danny.” It had been so damn long.

He pulled his hand away like he’d touched a hot stove. “Zoey, please walk away. Don’t do this to us. Don’t bring this out. Don’t.”

“I love you, Daniel.” I leaned forward and kissed him. It was soft and sweet at first, and then I licked my tongue across that gorgeous, full mouth and felt his fangs. “Take me, Daniel. Call me by my title.”

His hands shook as they caressed my breasts. He left one hand on my breast but the other sought my core and began to pinch and rub that place that got me moaning. He slipped his fingers into my pussy as his thumb rubbed against my clitoris. He sighed, and strength or no strength, he was coming to life against me. His cock swelled. “Companion.” His voice turned dark and thick. “Mine. You are mine.”

“Yours, Daniel.” I pressed closer to him. The room was suddenly filled with need. I needed to be with him. I needed to give the gift of my body.

I felt him change. I felt the instant he stopped being my Daniel and became all vampire. He pulled my head back, exposing my neck. His eyes had bled to a dark blue and there was no white left. His fangs were longer than I remembered, and for the first time I felt trepidation.

“You will call me by my title, little companion,” he growled. “You will call me master.”

The first orgasm hit as he plunged his fangs in. As I gave myself over to mindless pleasure, I had one overwhelming thought.

God, I prayed, let him remember. Let him remember that he loves me.

Trading orgasms for information isn’t their usual way of doing business, but when a missing criminal-turned-star-witness and fifty grand are on the line, bounty hunter R. A. Thorn and Detective Cameron Martinez are prepared to put their bodies to the task and give gorgeous Brenna Sheridan everything she needs.

An exchange they never anticipated becomes an experience none can forget—or walk away from. Sexual hunger sizzles the threesome, but the stakes and danger rise as a mafia bad-ass stalks Brenna.

Soon, their “deal” is no longer about information—or sex. Emotions bind Brenna, Cam and Thorn together more tightly than they ever imagined as the men protect—and serve—the beloved woman neither can live without.

  * * * *

“Detective,” she cried. “Thorn broke in, tied me up in my sleep and fondled me without my permission.”

“Not exactly true. I used the key under the flower pot on the front porch to let myself in, and I touched you with your permission—more or less. I asked you if you’d tell me what I wanted to know if I made you come, and you said yes.”

  “I didn’t mean it.”

“How was I supposed to know that? You were wet as hell when I touched you. As far as I’m concerned our bargain still stands.”

“Even if it did,” Brenna argued. “You didn’t make me come.”

Thorn flushed red. “I came damn close. Besides, you didn’t specify that I personally had to make you come, just that I had to make sure it happened. Cam will take care of the technicalities.”

Cam sighed and opened his mouth to refute Thorn.

Brenna shot back, “He can’t make me come, either.”

Normally, Cameron would let such a comment slide off his back. He didn’t have the chest-beating, macho caveman instincts Thorn possessed. But somehow, Brenna’s bald statement riled him a touch.

“Actually, I think, under normal circumstances, I could. I’m a patient man willing to take the time to discover what my partner needs during sex.” He cocked his head and stared at Brenna. An odd sort of longing crossed her face. He remembered the night by the pool, watching her frustrated attempt to orgasm. “But what you’re talking about is deeper, right?” He crossed the room to sit on the bed beside her. “Have you ever had an orgasm?”

Brenna flushed twenty shades of red then turned away.

He took that to mean no.

An orgasm deficit to most would not be a huge tragedy. Through most of high school and college, Cameron had gone without. Too many people underfoot for self-pleasure. In his mostly white school, too many folks had been unwilling to get naked with someone half Apache, half Hispanic. In Arizona, that century and a half year-old prejudice against Indians and Mexicans still quietly lived on in more than a handful of people.

But Brenna… Her deficit wasn’t a mere case of going without. It was an inability, her shamed expression told him. And Cameron ached for her. What would it be like to be an adult and not know the joy of sexual satisfaction?

  Tragedy.

“See? She’s frigid,” Thorn mouthed off.

Cameron whirled on him. “Has anyone ever told you what an enormous prick you are?”

Thorn grinned. “No, but I hear frequently what an enormous prick I have.”

Cameron rolled his eyes then turned back to Brenna. “Ignore him. When the phrase son of a bitch was coined, they had Thorn in mind.”

“You’re not much better. Pinching me so hard it brought tears to my eyes.”

So he had. Totally unlike him. This stupid plot of Thorn’s wasn’t getting them anywhere, but he may be onto something.

“Key.” He held out his palm to Thorn.

“Ah, shit. Man, you’re going to uncuff her? She looks hot, bound and ready.”

She did. No refuting that. But Thorn couldn’t see the long-term benefit of uncuffing Brenna beyond the short-term benefit the view provided his dick.

“I’d hate to have to arrest you. You’d have to call your brother to bail you out.”

“Oh, hell no!” With another curse, Thorn slapped the key in Cam’s palm. “You ruin all the fun, you know that?”

  “I’m the original party pooper.”

With a quick turn of his wrist and a few tugs, Brenna’s wrists were free. He untied her ankles. Just as she would have leapt from th
e bed and reached for the robe on the floor beside it, Cameron placed a palm between her bare collarbones.

“Not just yet.” Once he had her pinned to the bed, he said, “I am sincerely sorry that no man has taken the time or care with you to give you the pleasure you deserve. I’m sorry you have yet to figure out how to bring yourself to orgasm.” He brushed a stray curl from her cheek. “I know it must bother you. You must feel somewhat left out and…defective.”

Tears flooded Brenna’s eyes, and Cameron sucked in a shocked breath. He’d hoped that he was close to the truth, but hadn’t imagined that he was dead on. Her tears and pained expression said, however, that he was.

“It’s okay,” he whispered. “You’re not. It’s wrong for you to go on suffering needlessly. We will help you discover what you need to find fulfillment, if that’s what you want. But…” Cameron sighed, hating what he had to say next. “Thorn is right. We need your help in return. Lawton worked with a man named Julio Marco and others to traffic humans across the border and sell them into slavery. I was Lawton’s arresting officer. Thorn is his bail bondsman. We need Lawton to live up to his word to turn evidence for the state so the victims can have justice. He must come in and provide the testimony he promised. You’re our only hope of finding him.”

Brenna blinked. Tears ran down the sides of her face. Cameron hurt for her. She was clearly confused, didn’t know who to trust or what to do. He understood.

Cameron thumbed her tears away. “I would never want to hurt you. I believe we can help you. In return, I hope you’re willing to help us.” He leaned down and placed a gossamer kiss across her trembling lips. “Will you?”
