“I love you. Let’s elope. Let’s just go to the court house and tie the knot. Shawn can go with us.”
“It’s a date.”
We wed eight days later in the court house, and afterwards we took Shawn out for ice cream to celebrate. Just like when we opened the B&B, Erica and I were about to embark on another challenge; this one lasting for the rest of our lives.
I knew Shawn would have been proud of how I’d turned my life around. If I had to make one final bet in my life it would be that I was going to be a great uncle and father. This was only the beginning of something spectacular.
