Now it was Roan’s turn to blush a deep-rooted red. While the thought had crossed his mind, wondering what it would feel like to trace his lips down her skin, he wanted to take things slow, and explore this feeling he had when he was around her.
“I will kick your ass when I come back,” Harmony said after slipping on her black wedged shoes. “Do not leave this room, please.”
“Yeah, okay, mom, don’t forget to use a condom.”
Roan closed the door and let Harmony walk by first.
“Sorry about Chrys. She shouldn’t have said, you know, that stuff.”
Harmony’s cheeks turned red and her eyes looked him up and down, making Roan wonder what she was thinking about, but despite that, Roan noticed something about Harmony.
She was even more beautiful, under the night sky, with the redness in her cheeks; combined with the smell of honeydew that swirled and wrapped around him he felt intoxicated by her.
“No. Don’t worry about it, let’s just have a good time tonight.”
Chapter 7
Roan drove into Sidney, after telling Harmony he knew the best seafood place in town. They took turns playing different stations on the radio and playing twenty questions. They had already been laughing within ten minutes of the drive.
“Alright, last question since we’re almost here,” Roan said. Sidney was just around the corner and the bright city lights brightly lit the night sky. “Whose turn is it?
“It’s my turn to ask you something,” Harmony said straightening her back and smiling like a Cheshire cat.
Roan raised a brow and grinned. “Mm-hm, you sure? You just don’t want me to ask you nothing embarrassing.”
“Hey, that’s not it at all!” She exclaimed, but her face flamed red, letting Roan know otherwise.
He chuckled. “Alright, shoot.”
Harmony tapped her finger on her chin and once she thought about something her eyes widened in a eureka moment.
“Okay, question time. Are you a long term or a short-term guy, when it comes to dating?”
Roan raised his brow. “Getting into the real nitty-gritty details, huh?”
Harmony shrugged. She twirled a strand of her with her finger and ducked her head slightly so he couldn’t see her face. “That’s just the rules of the game, the last five questions are always the most personal.”
“Oh, I see.” He chuckled, but the laughter was short, and he looked at her from the corner of his eye, still keeping his attention on the road. “What I believe, it might sound strange to you, at first, but I’ve been raised to treat women with respect. That they are a man’s counterpart and without them, there would always be a part missing.”
They drove off the interstate and into the city. The streets were busy and were lit up with several streets lights illuminating the road.
“I mate for life and finding that one special someone means forever and always to me.”
They were both quiet and Harmony stared at Roan, her lips parted slightly as he parked in front of the restaurant.
“We’re here,” Roan said nervously. He jutted his chin toward the establishment and pulled Harmony’s attention away from him. Roan could feel the tension in the car, that had been the first time he had opened up to her, and he wondered what she was thinking.
“Right, uh, let’s get something to eat,” Harmony said.
“I’ll get the door.”
Roan opened his side of the door and went around the front of the car to open Harmony’s door. He stretched out his hand for her to take and slowly, she slipped her hand in his, intertwining her fingers in his. Electricity surged through him and his eyes drifted to their enclosed hands and then back to meet her twinkling eyes.
“Yes, lets.”

“Seats for two, please?” Roan said to the waiter. He and Harmony walked into the restaurant, hand in hand.
“Right this way sir.”
Roan gripped Harmony’s hand and in response, he felt Harmony do the same. The electricity that he was feeling built up inside of him, but he could also feel the surge of heat coursing through him.
They followed the waitress to a booth that was further into the restaurant beside the window.
“Here are your menus, would you like anything to drink?”
“Ladies first,” Roan said and nodded his head.
“I’ll have a glass of white wine, with a few cherries, if you could?”
“And for you sir?”
“Jack Daniels, for me, thank you.”
The waiter nodded. “I’ll give you a few moments to look at your menus.”
The waiter left after a moment and Harmony picked up her menu. Her hazel eyes darted over the pages. Roan didn’t reach for his menu and looked at Harmony. It was only after a few moments that she looked up at him and smiled.
“What? Do I have something in my hair?” She reached out her hand and looked at her hair.
Roan shook his head. “No, your hair is perfect, I was just admiring you,” he said. He liked the way she blushed around him. “And I was curious, white wine with cherries?”
“Oh, that.” Harmony scratched the side of her head and shrugged a shoulder. “That was something my mother liked drinking. My parents were connoisseurs when they weren’t researching plants and animals, or taking care of their daughters.”
Harmony laughed for a bit, but Roan noticed the sad smile on her face when she spoke about them. He licked his lips, unsure if he should even ask, but he had a gut feeling that she needed someone to talk to about this. He had the impression that conversations about her parents were off-limits, but it pained her to not talk about them.
“Hey, so, it’s my turn.”
Harmony smirked. “Thought you said the game was over.”
Roan shrugged and the waiter came back, placing their drinks in front of them, before leaving once again.
“We have to finish the game, right?” he said and took the glass in his hands, taking small sips before putting it down, Harmony did the same. “What... happened to them?”
The smile on Harmony’s face dropped and her eyes vibrated. Roan instantly cursed himself, knowing he shouldn’t have asked.
“That, that came out wrong, Harmony, you don’t have to answer that if you don’t want too.”
He could see her gulping, her head was down, and shook her head. She looked up at him to see that her eyes were slightly red.
“Um, no, it’s okay... I mean, it would have come up anyway, the more we kept seeing one another, and I’m sure Chrys would have blurted something out.”
She cracked a grin and Roan grinned back, but his expression was serious as he watched Harmony, waiting for her to speak.
“They were attacked. I can scarcely remember the details, but I remember my father telling my mother to take my sister and me to safety.” She sniffed and turned away, looking off to the side. “The last thing I saw was him holding a shotgun and opening the door to pairs of eyes coming toward our cabin.”
Roan furrowed his brow and frowned.
“A Pack? Were they rogues?”
This confused Roan. No matter what state or country a person was in, every pack's rule was the same: Stay away from humans. If humans couldn’t find them, neither could the Hunters. The only ones who defied orders were those not a part of a pack or those who followed rogue Alpha.
“Rogue?” Harmony asked and turned back to him. “I don’t know what you mean, there were a bunch of bears if that means anything.”
Roan nodded and let her continue.
“Um, after that, my mother ran with us. Chrys was only five at the time and I was fourteen. My mother gave me a silver blade, said, this will hurt them, use it when you need too, and we ran out into the cold until a bear attacked my mother.”
Harmony’s words were shaky now and her hands were tightly balled into fists. A tear started to come out of her eye and Roan’s heart clenched seeing her in so much pain. He wanted nothing more than to wrap his arms around he
r and protect her.
“Harmony... You don’t have to finish,” Roan said, already knowing what came next.
Harmony gulped and nodded her head, he assumed she was thankful for that. He reached out his hands and stretched them across the table, intertwining his fingers with hers again. She looked up at him with red, vibrating eyes that exposed what he knew to be her soul. She had never opened up to anyone and she felt comfortable enough to tell this burdening truth, a truth he was sure was the reason that they kept running.
“I lost someone too,” he said, the words came out before he could think about them. “Her name was Celine and it was a... hunting accident.”
Harmony’s grip on his hand tightened and her eyes widened in surprise. She laid her other hand on top of their closed hands together and affectionately rubbed them.
“I’ve blamed myself for her death and closed myself off, knowing I shouldn’t have let her go out at such a late hour. After her death, I swore to myself that I would not be happy again.”
Something warm rolled down his cheek and under his chin. He wiped his cheek with a free hand and realized that they were tears. He started laughing at himself because he realized something.
“What?” Harmony questioned. “What’s funny?”
“I just realized, I am happy,” Roan revealed to her and heard a tiny gasp escape her lips.
It was in that moment that all he wanted to do was to wrap her in his arms around, not only to provide her the love she deserved but to feel closer to her. Since meeting her, Harmony was the only thing that had been on his mind. He had always felt alone since Celine’s death, and he was almost accustomed to it, but after meeting Harmony he never wanted to feel alone again, he wanted every waking moment to be with her. He wanted to see her smile, he wanted to see her laugh, to blush, to protect her.
He never thought that he would be able to have a second chance, but he was getting it with Harmony, and Celine wouldn’t want him to be unhappy the rest of his life.
He wanted to be happy with Harmony and his heart only accelerated when she replied back to him, “I am too.”
Chapter 8
The spark that had lit up between Harmony and Roan was something that she had not expected. She didn’t expect herself to meet someone that was so open and listened to her, and she never thought she would be willing to reveal so much, and give so much of her.
Before, moments like these never lasted, but with Roan, the anxiety and sheer emotion she had as they drove out of the restaurant, never ceased.
Could he be what I needed this entire time?
Harmony didn’t go back to the hotel, but instead, back to Roan’s place. Every fiber of their beings wanted each other and the tension between them was like a heavy weight that put pressure on them.
“So, do you want a drink?” Roan asked Harmony, who sensed that he was either nervous or apprehensive about something. For a brief moment, she thought he might have figured she was turned on by him.
“Roan.” She let out a breathless reply and rested her fingers on his sculpted chest. Her fingers coursed over the outlines of his muscles, a shiver ran down her spine imagining him completely bare chested.
He looked down at her with bright amber eyes that seemed to glow in the darkness of the room. Harmony parted her lips to speak, but no words came past her lips. Instead, she stood on her tippy-toes, craned her neck toward him, intimating to him that everything she wanted to say with her lips.
Fortunately, Roan took the hint, and gently scooped her cheeks in his hands, and caressed them with his thumbs. He stared into her eyes as if, somehow, they had captivated him right then and there, he shook his head, and Harmony thought he too was left speechless.
Harmony gripped onto his wrists and bit down on her lip. She looked up at him from the corners of her eyes, eagerly wanting his lips to find hers, and to pleasure them.
“May I?” he politely asked her, “kiss you.”
Harmony breathed out in a hitched sigh and lolled her head up and down, just as Roan pressed his lips into hers, and his fingers traced through her hair with one hand. While his other arm scooped around her butt and lifted her into the air.
Her legs wrapped around him as he securely held her to his chest and her arms circled around his neck. Her lips parted with his, as their tongues danced over one another. She was vaguely aware of him moving her through the house.
Several moments later and Harmony found herself laid on the bed. She looked up at Roan with a rather pleased look on her face as she licked her lips. Roan stretched his lips into a smile and went to his knees, his hands pushed up the length of her dress, and he kissed her inner thighs.
Harmony’s eyes rolled in the back of her head and she let out a tiny moan. She grasped the ends of the sheets and stared at the dark ceiling. Roan’s lips were like a fire that licked her skin and her entire body felt hot, her heart clambered in her chest, she swore that he could hear it.
“Let me satisfy you.” Harmony nodded in complacent agreement, feeling Roan’s fingers as they grabbed the edge of her panties and slipped them off her behind, down her legs, until she felt nothing but air.
“Oh, my gosh... Yes.” She hitched out a breath and gasped. Harmony craned her neck up to see Roan’s face between her legs, his eyes looked at her with raw hunger, and sheer desire.
Harmony rested her head back on the bed and gripped her dress, biting her lips from the pleasure that Roan was giving her.
Roan lifted from his position on the floor and stood over Harmony. His lips trailed down the side of her neck and leaving a fiery feeling that spread over her skin.
She reached her hands out to his chest and slowly undid the buttons of his shirt, even in the dark she could still see how his muscles bulged out of his shirt.
Roan leaned away from her and slipped off his shirt, before undoing his pants. Harmony took the opportunity to zipper her dress down and removed the straps from her shoulders until only her lace black bra showed.
Roan’s amber eyes brightly lit in the dark. He reached out to her and helped her slip out of her dress. He climbed on top of her as they both laid across the bed, he undid her bra and tossed it to one side.
“You’re so beautiful,” he whispered into her ear and looked at her. Harmony’s heart skipped a beat as the two looked at one another. She hadn’t dated many guys, but none of them looked at her the way Roan did, as if she was the best thing in the world and then some.
His hands caressed the side of her face and he leaned in to kiss her lips. They inhaled each other as if they were the last remaining oxygen on the planet.
Harmony could feel him removing the last constraints of their clothing before their naked bodies were pressed together. She wrapped one leg around him and held onto his shoulders, feeling the fire sensations of his lips across hers.
His hands trailed carefully around her body and caressed her breast, his thumb circled around the base of her nipple. She shivered underneath him as he expertly, but gently held her as if he was a potter molding her body into his.
Harmony’s mind was reeling, and she was filled with a sense of relief and comfort. Sex had always been escapism from her reality. There had been no man that could pull her into reality and make her feel different emotions and feel like she was on fire.
“I want this, Roan, I - I’ve never wanted anything more.” She breathlessly said when their lips had come apart from each other.
Roan stared at her with devotion and love, in that one look, he said everything to her.
“To me, you will be, my forever and always.”
Harmony gulped and a soft sigh passed her lips, hearing those words from him felt terrifying but reassuring. Held in his warm embrace, Harmony felt like she could relax, that she could finally release the constraints that had been burdening her for so long.
Everything would be okay, perfect, at every waking moment with him.
“Always and forever,” she whispered back to him.
The elect
ricity surged between the two and Harmony felt him enter her, pressing into her cavities, and though he was gentle she gasped in surprise. His movements stroked inside of her and they created a polarity of energy that passed between the two.
Harmony’s moans echoed Roan’s as their bodies pressed together in a repeated motion.
Roan’s hands centered into the middle of Harmony’s back and arched herself toward him. She secured herself with one arm around his neck and Roan pressed deeper inside of her.
