The rest of the drive was silent as they rode down the dark interstate, Harmony’s mind on saving Roan.
***
Harmony pulled up in front of Roan’s house and shut off the lights. She turned around to face Helga and Klaus so the three could form a plan.
“Knowing Finn, he might have booby-trapped the perimeter,” Helga informed her.
“And knowing Finn, he’d suspect that we would help you, and would probably know to take us out first,” Klaus added to Helga’s information.
“Then, that’s the answer, I’ll go in by myself. He’ll be expecting me to show up, but he’ll think I have your backup. That’ll catch him off guard.”
“And get you killed,” Klaus said from the backseat and tapped Harmony on the forehead, who replied by saying, ‘ouch’ and rubbing her head. “Do not be stupid and reckless. I told you that when you’re in a predicament like this, where you won’t be able to use weapons, instincts are your best friend.”
Harmony rubbed her forehead as she glared dagger-like eyes at Klaus for tapping her.
“Klaus is right Harmony, Finn is good at what he does, and you’ll need to prepare for anything.”
As Harmony rubbed her forehead an idea struck her. “I’ve got something—” She ushered the two to get closer so she could whisper to them.
With the plan in place, Helga and Klaus got into their positions, blending in with the dark they headed toward the back of the house. Harmony walked to the front of the house and knocked on the door, and then rang the doorknob.
Harmony gulped as she could feel nerves and fear boiling inside of her, but as Helga said, she needed to be calm and focused.
“Finn… I know you’re in there!” Harmony called out to him. “Open the door, if you’re a real man.”
The doors didn’t open at first, but after a moment, she heard what sounded like clicks and the front door creaked open. Harmony pushed the door open and stepped inside.
The moment that she did, she gasped. “Roan!” He was shirtless and chained with silvers with several burn marks on his body that she swore Finn had given to her.
“Harmony, behind you!” Roan shouted at the top of his lungs. From her peripheral, Harmony saw Finn emerge from the darkness. He reached out his arms and wrapped them around her neck, in a choke hold.
Harmony started to gag as her eyes widened, Finn’s grip on her neck only tightened.
“I told your boyfriend I was going to let him watch you die.”
“You bastard, I’ll kill you!” Roan yelled, trying to break his chains, but they held him tight.
Harmony gagged again as her eyes expanded as she tried to get out his hold, but Finn’s grip was far too tight.
Don’t panic. Helga’s words played into her head.
Harmony stopped struggling and went limp. She remembered the choke hold method that Klaus had taught her. She lifted up her arm and bringing her elbow down onto his arm, she pivoted out of his grasp.
“Not bad for a Hunter with no skills. I’m actually surprised.”
Harmony gritted her teeth and narrowed her eyes at him,
“Don’t underestimate your opponents then. Now let him go.”
Finn smirked. “You act as if you really have a say in the matter. Did you really think that you would be able to come in here and save him? Your parents really didn’t teach you anything.”
“You know nothing about my parents,” Harmony said, and stood on her feet. “You're blinded by your hatred and fear of the unknown, you think that makes you strong, but that only makes you weak.”
“You think you know everything, but you don’t know what horrors I had to go through, the things I lost because of Shifters,” Finn told her, his voice rising and getting angrier.
“And you don’t think the same could be said of Shifters? Instead of fighting each other, why can’t we work together, and make a better place, stop those who do evil.”
“The world is a big and scary place that you don’t understand. You might have had your parents to protect you from it, but now you’ll see what the real world has in store for you.”
“Then, I’ll make sure that it’s right. NOW.”
From behind Finn, Klaus wrapped his arms around Finn’s throat and pulled his arms back but Finn kneed Klaus in the groin, gaining his freedom in the process. He went behind Harmony and pulled out a gun from underneath his shirt and held it to her head.
“Finn put the gun down and let her go,” Helga said, coming from the shadows holding her own gun, aiming it directly at Finn.
Finn gripped onto Harmony tighter and pressed the gun closer to her head. “Don’t step any closer, Helga. I will shoot and I know you won’t shoot me.”
“Why are you doing this Finn? She’s a human being, we swore—”
“She’s in love with a damn Shifter! She’s no longer human.” To make his point, Finn aimed the gun at Roan’s chest; he fired, and the bullet grazed the side of his chest, making Roan cry out in pain.
“Roan!” Harmony screamed, seeing his pain hurt her as she wanted nothing but to tend to his wounds.
“Damn it, Roan stop this now!” Klaus grunted from where he had fallen to the floor.
“You two fell for her sob story and now she’s got one over you.”
Helga narrowed her eyes at Finn as she had her finger ready on the trigger. “Finn, I don’t want to have to do this.”
Finn pressed the gun to Harmony’s head once more.
“If you do, it just shows whose side you’re really—”
The sound of a gun went off and it echoed loudly in Harmony’s ears. She didn’t feel the heavy press of the barrel any longer and she dived forward away from Finn, who fell backward, the gun flew out of his hand.
Klaus ran toward where Finn had fallen and held him down. Harmony looked up to see that there was smoke from Helga’s gun. Harmony was pulled out of her state as Finn started crying out in pain from being shot in what appeared to be his shoulder.
She pulled away from Finn and went to help Roan, where she unbound his chains. They fell to the ground with a rattle.
“A-Are you okay?” Harmony asked, touching the side of his chest where he got shot. He flinched underneath her touch.
“Yeah, I’m fine, it’s only a flesh wound,” Roan grunted under his breath and Harmony reached out her hand to touch his cheek. “I’m sorry this happened, Roan. I didn’t mean for any of this, I just wanted to stop Kiran. I would never put you in danger because… I love you and I’m sorry I let my fear get in the way of that.”
Roan smiled and reached his hands out to grasp Harmony’s cheeks, his fingers stroked her cheeks.
“I love you too.”
Harmony smiled and leaned into him to give him a kiss, but his body suddenly went limp and collapsed in her arms. Harmony managed to catch but she fell over as his weight pulled her down.
“R-Roan?” Harmony called out his name as she held him in her arms, tears ran down his face as she looked at his unconscious face. From her peripheral, however, she saw Helga reach her hand out and pressed her manicured fingers against his neck.
“He’s still breathing. He’s probably severely drained from the silver.”
“C-Can you help him, please?”
Helga turned to Klaus and Harmony saw him shrug his shoulders.
“I’ll get him upstairs,” Klaus said and went to take him from Harmony’s grasp. He wrapped his arm behind his back and dragged him up the stairs.
Harmony stared as Klaus pulled him up the stairs. She gulped, and her heart pounded as nervousness took over.
“Don’t worry, he’s fine, we know how you feel about him… We aren’t evil, Harmony. It’s like you said.”

It was later on in the night as Harmony laid next to Roan, in his bed, and ran her fingers through his hair. She smiled as she twirled his finger. He stirred in his sleep and his eyes slowly opened.
“’Evening,” she told him and leaned forward to kiss him on his lips.
&
nbsp; Roan grumbled and smiled, grunting only when he tried to move.
“Careful, your body is still healing after last night.” Harmony told him, pressing her hand down on his chest back into the comforter. “Helga made sure to do what she can, but you did most of the work. You can trust them, they’re actually good Hunters.”
Roan thought about it, he didn’t really know about them, but if Harmony trusted them they were fine with him. “So… you watched me heal?”
Harmony blushed and leaned off the bed. Roan looked her up and down at her black lingerie set, before looking back at her as she carefully sat on his lap. He gently took her hips in his hands.
“I did… It was actually quite fascinating and not scary at all.” Harmony rubbed his chest where the bullet wound had grazed his flesh and trailed her fingers to the burn mark. Her fingers running over the bumpy scar.
“You aren’t scary and I’m sorry for making you think that who you were mattered. It doesn’t and I want you to know that I’m an idiot.”
A tear trailed down Harmony’s cheek, but before it rolled under his chin, Roan reached out his hand and wiped it. She looked into his eyes that never wavered as they focused on her.
“You’re not an idiot. It was a reaction that anyone would have, but I shouldn’t have ever kept this a secret. I didn’t want anything to happen to you, I was afraid to lose you.”
Harmony leaned into his hand, closing his eyes, and rested her hand on top of his head. “You won’t lose me, Roan. I promise, but from now on,” she said and opened her eyes.
“No more secrets, we talk to each other, and no matter what we don’t treat the other as a weakling.” Harmony gripped his hand tighter. “I’m going to start learning to fight, for myself, my sister, and so you never have to worry about me.”
Roan rubbed her cheek with his thumb.
“I promise, come here,” Roan whispered and pulled her closer to him, and to his lips. Harmony closed her eyes and took in his lips as they wrapped around hers, instantly warming them.
Harmony’s hands trailed to Roan’s face and trailed his fingers through his hair. His tongue entered inside of her mouth, warming her insides.
With his other hand, he scooped her butt in his hands, and carefully he slowly sat up from the bedside. Harmony hooked her legs around Roan’s waist, and he placed Harmony on the bed, still kissing her, as her head gently rested on the pillow.
Harmony’s fingers trailed down his chest and grabbed the length of his boxers, inching them off his waist and off his butt.
“I love you, Roan…” Harmony whispered between kisses. She looked into Roan’s brightly lit amber eyes as they stared at her with love and adoration. “…I’m not afraid of you.”
Roan rubbed her chin with his thumb and pressed his lips to hers. Their tongues danced against one another as he used his other hand to slip off her panties.
Harmony slipped off his boxers and his cock entered inside of her. Harmony let out a moan as he penetrated inside of her. She bit her lip and rocked in rhythm to his movements as their bodies brushed against one another.
She gripped onto his shoulder and Roan pressed his hand underneath her back, guiding her movements along with him.
“I love you so much, Harmony. I promise to never lie to you again.”
Harmony gasped in his ear as she pressed into his body. Her legs shook as she was filled with exhilaration, inside her walls grew wetter the more he entered inside of her.
Harmony grabbed a handful of his hair and buried her face into his neck, gently biting his neck and sucking on it gently. Roan grunted in her ear, his breathing rasping in her ears.
“I know… I promise the same.”
Harmony could feel the sensation building inside of her. Her body grew warm and her legs and vagina tightened around his hardened cock.
“Keep going… I’m going to come.”
Roan pushed inside of her, keeping an even rhythm. Their breathing was in sync. The bed squeaked and rattled as it creaked with their movements until it came to a slow and even finish.
Harmony moaned as she released and Roan sighed into her hair, kissing the side of her wet hair as he pushed one final time and released inside of her.
Their bodies lay close together as they breathed in synch together and they whispered in unison,
“I love you.”
Chapter 19
Roan ran his fingers along Harmony’s bare shoulder blade and kissed her behind the ears. She turned around to face him and kissed his nose. He had never felt so complete before, whether it was because they had made up, or because they had nothing left to hide and it was all out in the open.
Either way, he had never felt more in love with Harmony at that moment.
“I’m happy you’re here with me, right now,” Roan said and stroked her cheek with his thumb. “I tried hard to have a life without you, but… it was difficult.”
The surge in his chest seemed to calm again, but it felt as if it was conjoined with Harmony.
“I know,” Harmony said leaning into his hand. “I’m sorry I didn’t know what I wanted at first, but Shifter or not, I want to be with you.”
“And Hunter or not, I want you in my life.”
Roan noticed her eyes were downcast and he frowned, tilting his head to the side. “What is it?”
“That means, you being an Alpha, you’ll have to tell the rest of your group. And what it sounded like from Kiran, it won’t be good,” Harmony said, and her lips turned into a frown. His chest pained seeing her sad.
He leaned down and kissed her lips, before speaking,
“Don’t you worry about anything. No matter what, you will be a part of my life.”
The corner of Harmony’s lips turned to a smirk. She wrapped her arm around Roan’s neck and kissed him, her lips soft, but firm against him.
Roan caressed her breast feeling their softness, but the sound of his phone pulled him away from her. “Damn it,” he whispered, but when he leaned away from her, he saw Harmony’s phone vibrate as well.
“It’s probably, Chrys,” Harmony told him as she picked up her phone. “Go ahead.” She told him, encouraging him to answer his phone.
Roan noted the person on the caller ID read Kai. He answered the phone, but the first thing that Roan heard was heavy breathing on the other end. Roan lifted all the way up from where he was lying.
“Kai? Kai, what’s wrong?”
“R-Roan… It’s Kiran… came to the hotel, his rogues—”
“What?” Roan panicked, hearing word that Kiran was around. “You saw Kiran? How many rogues were there?”
Kai grunted and Roan heard shuffling in the background.
“I don’t, there could be have been four, I think. Everything went so fast. I fought two of them… They left me badly beaten. Chrys shot and killed one, but Kiran… he apprehended her.”
The moment Roan looked up at Harmony, he noticed that Harmony’s face looked pale and her eyes were wide.
“Kai, hold on—Harmony?” he asked and reached out his arm to touch her shoulder.
Harmony slowly turned to look at Roan. Her eyes were glassy-eyed, and her cellphone dangled half-way from her ear. Her lips parted to speak,
“Kiran… He has my sister.”

Roan and Harmony were dressed in seconds. Roan grabbed his keys and they headed to the car. Roan started the engine and drove down the highway, from his peripheral he could see Harmony with her cellphone to her ear. He could hear the ringing on the other end, but after a few rings, she left a message: Helga, it’s me… Kiran, he took Chrys. If you get this, please, I need your help.
“I’m sure they’ll get back to you.”
Harmony shook her head. “I don’t think so, helping you last night might have been the only time they were willing to go beyond their beliefs.”
Roan reached out her hand and rested it on Harmony’s leg, squeezing it gently. “Don’t worry, we will get her back.”
Harmony s
lowly nodded and rested her hand on top of Roan’s, her hand shook, but Roan gripped her hand to stop her from shaking.
They drove for the next twenty minutes until they drove back into town. They headed straight for the town. Harmony squeezed his hand and as if she was sending him her energy, Roan’s heart started to pound.
They headed into Fairview and drove straight to the motel in minutes. Before Roan even stopped the car, Harmony jumped out and rushed up the stairs.
