"I can make you feel really good, so good you will be screaming my name and begging for more." The words were deep and whispered on a breath as Duncan captured Lyle's lips in another heart-stopping kiss. This time it was fierce and demanding whereas the other had been possessive but more tender and searching.
In an expert move of balance and strength, Duncan lifted Lyle while maintaining the kiss and turned to lay him down in the center of the bed and then followed him down. It was a move that was smooth as silk as were the hungry lips that continued to devour him ravenously.
Lyle started pulling at Duncan's shirt wanting to feel his heated flesh against his own. Duncan responded by grabbing the hem and in one fluid motion, the shirt was off and tossed to the floor. Duncan was a big man, but the way he positioned himself most of his weight was on his elbows and lower body. He pressed himself between Lyle's legs so their groins were lined up and Lyle could feel the hard ridge of Duncan's cock baring down on him. He spread his legs wide in an obvious welcome.
Yeah, this was all new to him, but so far, he did not have the urge to cry or run. His body hummed with the desire that Duncan was stoking. Lyle wasn't sure how it all worked, but he was confident that Duncan would make it an exhilarating experience.
He didn’t dwell on why he was attracted to this man when no other man had interested him. All he knew was Duncan was perfect and everything about him made Lyle hot and needy and willing to beg for more.
The kiss moved to Lyle’s throat and then across his shoulders. Lyle rubbed the palms of his hands against the hard muscle of Duncan’s back marveling at how firm and how hot and silky his body felt. The muscles rippled beneath his touch. He’d never touched another man so intimately. The kiss moved to Lyle’s left nipple and the sensations began to rocket through his system. The hard suction had his nerves virtually buzzing with the thrill of it.
Duncan was over the moon having his mate snug in his arms and responding so deliciously. He understood Lyle’s inexperience so planned to take it as slow as his heat permitted but he could not resist the invitation that Lyle extended. He would take it as far as Lyle was prepared to go. Claiming would come later after all truths were told, but for now, he planned to amaze and inspire. Lyle would experience the fine art of loving a man.
He released the left nipple and latched onto the right giving it the same treatment and reveling in the reactions and the sounds of delight from his excited mate. This was pure joy, pure erotic joy. Lyle moved his hands and was running his fingers through Duncan’s hair and it felt wonderful, he was discovering that everything his mate did was wonderful.
"You taste like fresh air and sunshine and you smell like heaven," Duncan spoke the words ringing in his mind. This man was so much more than just his mate, Lyle was his new beginning, the best part of his life so far and the father of the next generation of the Dragon Circle. He was beginning to fall hard for this cautious and guarded young man. The more Duncan discovered, the more he fell in love, just as Fate had designed.
Duncan moved his hand down between their bodies and grasped the waistband of Lyle’s jeans. He looked up into those beguiling dark eyes and waited as a single muffled word poured from Lyle’s lips. “Yes.” He said and Duncan needed no more permission than that.
…
Lyle wasn't sure what he had in mind, but he knew for certain that he did not want Duncan to stop. He said yes before he thought about it too long and missed this opportunity of a lifetime. Duncan was out of his league he accepted that fact but for now, Duncan wanted him and he wanted Duncan and he convinced himself that was all that mattered at this moment.
He felt the snap of his jeans give way and the zipper lowered as Duncan slipped his hand inside his boxers and rolled them down to expose his hard-sensitive cock. Duncan's hands were magical, and his touch sent shivers of eager expectation throughout Lyle's body. Lyle groaned louder than intended when his cock was held tight in the vise of Duncan’s grip. He’d never been touched like this before.
Duncan's mouth took his once again devouring Lyle and plunging his tongue deep as he stroked the hard member in his hand. He wanted so much to open Duncan's jeans and feel that huge pulsing cock in his own hand. Lyle dropped one hand from Duncan's back and tried to work his fingers into the waistband.
Duncan felt Lyle’s hand as it sought to slip inside his jeans. The almost desperate desire he was exhibiting was heightened by the mark of the dragon, but the true craving came from Lyle himself. If there were no longing, the mark would not have this level of power. He quickly opened his jeans and took Lyle's hand and placed on his throbbing cock. Lyle for all his inexperience did not shy away.
His touch was soft and gentle a touch that was exploring and appreciating if the soft strokes were anything to go by. Duncan knew he wouldn't last long, but he wanted to make this perfect, he wanted Lyle to scream not just moan and whimper. He moved Lyle's hand gently aside and grasped their two throbbing members in his one hand.
Duncan pulled back from the kiss in order to lock gazes with his mate and amplify the excitement of the moment. His dragon was close, and he was certain Lyle was being affected by the presence, but he could not hold him back.
Lyle was inundated with stimulation thrilling and astonishing, his mind could not keep up with the sensations and just melted into the feeling. Duncan’s hard cock was pressed against his own and it was incredible as Duncan began a rapid rhythm of stroking and Lyle began to fly while chanting Duncan’s name over and over. He just couldn’t help himself.
The eyes that held him burned through to his core and made it impossible for him even to consider looking away. The combination of the scorching stare and the passionate embrace sent Lyle quickly over the edge coming fast and hard covering the hand that stroked him in his sticky essence.
Duncan followed immediately after Lyle came, stiffening and painting Lyle’s abdomen with stream after stream of his warm seed. The force was significant Lyle felt the warmth strike him and pool around his groin, Duncan’s desire was clear, and Lyle bathed in the adoration he saw in the man’s eyes.
It was there and it was powerful, and it looked like love. Lyle shook his head not willing to believe an emotion so deep was present. A light flared in Duncan’s eyes and a shadow flashed from his cheek and through his hair. It almost looked as if the angles of his face were changing but then it settled, and it was Duncan again.
He took Lyle’s lips in another bruising kiss while they both came down from their carnal high. "I'm right here with you sweetheart." Duncan was overjoyed that he actually got his mate so worked up that he began to call his name. It was a heady feeling to know that you could affect the most important person in your life in that manner. Duncan would never tire of hearing that chant.
Duncan settled down on top of his mate not ready yet to move and needing to calm Lyle. It was there first time together and he didn’t want Lyle to start overthinking something as beautiful as what had just taken place. He was aware that his dragon had tried to make an appearance and was sure that Lyle would have some questions.
Pushing the hair back from Lyle’s forehead he then pushed up onto his elbows in order to look down into the most beautiful face ever created. Lyle had his hands resting on Duncan’s sides and their warmth and the connection that was building between them was helping Duncan to control his dragon. He never before lost control of his dragon, but around Lyle, he seemed to want to continually show himself and Duncan was hard-pressed to hold him back.
Lyle was exhausted but in the best way possible, he was lying there with cum drying between them and all he wanted was for Duncan to never move. Having him pressed against him in this intimate fashion was peace and security.
Lyle felt like nothing could get him, no one could touch him with Duncan around. But those were thoughts that would lead to disappointment and Lyle had more disappointment in his nineteen years than most people three times his age. He didn’t need to set himself up for more.
“We should probab
ly get cleaned up.” He said but not really wanting to move.
"We're okay for now, relax and let me hold you for a few more minutes," Duncan said and his words as always went straight to Lyle's heart. He sounded genuine and sincere in his need to hold him.
Lyle shifted so Duncan could lay to his side and wrap him in his arms which was heaven. He turned his head to regard the mysterious man and searched his face for the light and the darkness that had appeared, but there was no sign.
“What is it, sweetheart?” Duncan was beginning to use that endearment with him often and he liked it. He wanted to be someone’s sweetheart, he wanted to be Duncan’s sweetheart.
"My Uncle Clarence was our tribal shaman, my mother and I lived with him when . . . Before Morris took me away. He had special gifts which allowed him to heal and advise and sometimes when he was deep in a trance he would transform." Lyle wasn't sure what he was trying to say but he needed to put this out there because he knew what he saw, and it wasn't a trick of the light or a misunderstanding.
“He told me he shared his spirit with a wolf and that his wolf assisted him in his service to our people. There were others, I would see them change during sweat ceremonies and once during the sun dance one of the warriors took on the features of a wolf, not completely but it was obvious. It was never talked about or shared with outsiders. I was young, but I know it was real, just as I know what I saw here with you was real." Lyle had never talked about his life back on the reservation believing it was better to forget.
As much as he tried to continue to compartmentalize everything, Duncan had a way of compelling him to think deeper and bring back memories and with them a fresh understanding. He decided just to ask the question that was plaguing him. "Do you share your spirit with an animal?"
"Not an animal but yes you are on the right track," Duncan stated and kissed him again. "You're very astute." Duncan wasn't sure how far to take this deciding to leave it there and change the subject. "We should clean up before this gets uncomfortable." He said and began to move to a sitting position.
Lyle too tried to sit up, but Duncan pressed him back down on the bed. “You stay there, I’ll clean you up.” Duncan would take care of his mate, Lyle looked surprised, but he did not argue. After he had him cleaned and tucked back into his briefs, Duncan removed Lyle’s jeans. He then slipped off his own jeans and got into bed beside him covering then both with the large comforter.
Lyle was thoroughly surprised first by the intimate clean up and then the apparent offer to stay. Duncan didn't say anything just got into bed beside him tucked them both in and cuddled Lyle close. This was crazy but also perfect.
"Don't think so hard sweetheart, it's late and I want to hold you. Just relax and get some sleep." Lyle thought there was no way he would relax, but almost immediately he began to drift off while snuggling into Duncan's massive embrace.
CHAPTER SEVEN
When he woke the next morning, Lyle was in bed alone. He didn’t remember Duncan getting up, but his side of the bed was cold, so it was a while ago. Guilt plagued him immediately. He was here to do a job and instead he makes out with the boss and lays in bed all day, he’d be lucky if he didn’t get fired.
He'd managed to get the trim finished in the kitchen, but he hadn't even started on the benches yet and he needed to make eight of them. Lyle jumped out of bed found his jeans neatly folded on a chair along with a fresh t-shirt and hurried across the hall to his own room. Following a very fast shower, he dressed and headed downstairs.
Not wanting to see anyone or get caught up in conversation he opted to leave by the front door. The garage was off to the right and set back and he hoped to get there without being noticed. He hadn’t heard anyone downstairs when he ducked out, so he figured that his chances were good.
He jogged around the corner of the house and ran face first into a broad chest. It was so unmovable that Lyle actually felt himself bounce off and stumbled backward. He looked up and saw a mountain of a man looking down at him with an expression of pure hatred.
He looked like one of Duncan's brothers, but this one was terrifying. The others were seriously large men with an air of darkness that hung with them, but this one felt like death and danger personified. There was no lightness to his being, only blackness, shade, and shadow.
Lyle was instantly alert and watching his every move. Men like this were hard to gauge and you never knew when they would strike. Lyle took a tentative step back but never took his eye away from this brute.
“Why do you skulk around, human?” His question came out like an insult and his eyes bored down on Lyle. He didn’t touch him, but his presence was threatening. Lyle was aware that it would only take one wrong move on his part for this man to break him in half. The man took a step nearer and brought his face closer to Lyle’s. “You don’t belong here.” He reached out to grab Lyle by the upper arm.
Lyle took a rapid step back which prevented him from getting a hold. "Don't fucking touch me," Lyle stated.
"I'll do more than touch you, human." It was this moment that Lyle fully understood the danger he was in and the mythologies that were in play. All his questions were answered as the man before him began to turn. His eyes began to glow an ethereal green and he grew while slowly being sheathed in shiny black scales. An iridescence covered him, and wings were growing from his shoulders. The man before him was becoming a monster.
Not an animal, something much more terrifying. He shares his spirit with a hell beast. Lyle knew he had only seconds to react and any miscalculation could be his end. The thing was large, so Lyle dashed for the tree cover about twenty yards away. It might not stop him, but it should slow him down enough for Lyle to hopefully get away.
He felt the earth tremble under his feet, the thing was coming after him. He would not be able to outrun that thing. He heard the trees breaking and crashing to the ground and he felt pity for their destruction. He ran with all his heart and mind focused on escape, full out nearly flying as he cleared stones and brush blocking his way.
…
Duncan was in his office with Grey, Jude and Locke were on patrol and they were expecting Rafe to arrive soon. Grey had already met Lyle, but he wanted to introduce the rest of his brothers to his mate. Duncan wanted them to be familiar with Lyle for as the King’s Consort, he would fall under the direct protection of the Dragon Knights.
He didn’t wake him this morning but rather sat there and watched him sleep for quite some time before having to get up and start his day. The Knights were arriving, and he needed to be on hand. Lyle was still resting quietly when he left him, and he was planning to check on him in a few minutes. It was still early, and breakfast was being held for him. Duncan preferred to wait and eat with his mate.
When he stood and dismissed his brother an immediate chilling sensation washed over him, and a wave of energy hit him. A dragon knight nearby had shifted. He rushed from the house out the front door with Grey close behind. The shift was powerful but measured it was a partial shift obviously to scare not to kill.
"Rafe!" He yelled and his brother turned back from where he'd entered the tree line on the right side of the property and immediately shifted. He jogged back to where Duncan and Grey stood in the drive. Duncan waited for an explanation, but suddenly he felt the pressure of fear begin to encompass him. It was in the air and all around him and his dragon began to push for release.
"A human was trespassing. I had just exited the vehicle and was rounding this corner when he ran head-on into my chest. I was distracted by the beauty of this place and didn't even scent or hear him until we collided. We had words, I told him to get lost, and half shifted to drive the point home. He ran for the trees." Rafe was simply making his report, but every word hit Duncan like a punch to the gut.
“Did you touch him, Rafe?” Duncan asked as ice entered his tone.
“No, sir, I threatened him, but I did not touch him.” Rafe watched Duncan closely recognizing the anger and tension in his King.
&
nbsp; Duncan turned towards the trees as his dragon began to make an appearance. Grey and Rafe took a step back watching Duncan shift back and forth several times in a matter of seconds. Duncan was trying to rein in his dragon. Rafe took a step forward, but Grey grabbed his arm and pulled him back.
“It was just a stupid human, Grey. I scared him off, Duncan need not pursue; it’s taken care of.” Rafe stated concerned.
“Duncan isn’t angry at the human; he’s trying to stop himself from attacking you. He knows it was a misunderstanding, but his dragon is furious.” Grey clarified. “That stupid human, as you called him, is Duncan’s mate. I can smell him, and I can smell his fear as I’m sure Duncan scented the moment he stepped out here.”
"Lyle?" Rafe asked and Grey nodded. "I didn't know," Rafe said softly, all color draining from his face. He and Grey then remained silent and waited. Rafe knew that if Duncan lost control of his dragon, his days were numbered.
Duncan thought he would crawl out of his skin trying to subdue his dragon in the face of Lyle’s fear and torment. Rafe was not familiar with Lyle and the disrespect was not intentional. He should have stayed close to Lyle until after his brothers arrived. He knew Rafe had a problem with humans, but he never thought he would do something like this.
He had loathed to wake Lyle this morning. Lyle was sleeping so deeply that he wanted him to wake naturally on his own and not be forced to awareness, but now he questioned that decision. He should have stayed with him. Why was he outdoors? Duncan had not heard him and assumed he would come downstairs for breakfast when he got up.
Duncan took several steadying breaths and quelled his dragon. He couldn’t go after Lyle in such a condition. He needed to call on his calm and control in order to provide the same for Lyle. He could feel him running and he could feel his stark panic. He could also feel his brother’s guilt and shame.
After several steps towards the tree line, he looked back over his shoulder at Grey and Rafe and signaled for them to follow but at a distance. He moved slowly following his mate's trail. He could overtake him quickly enough, but this was not the time to further overwhelm his already frightened mate.
