  “I need a drink.” He dragged his hand through his hair and let out a laugh.

  “Well, personally, what I think you really need is to say yes, but if you tell me where the bar is in this maze of opaque glass and paneling, I’ll get you one.”

  “Charlie, are you aware of what all this implies?” he asked, gripping her shoulders and staring deep into her eyes.

  “Absolutely. Are you?”

  “Of course I—hey!” he exclaimed, laughing and drawing her back into his arms. “I’m supposed to be the responsible one around here, not you.”

  “To love and cherish, till death do us part?” Her eyes filled with unshed tears and a lump formed in her throat.

  Squeezing her close, he lifted her face to his and grinned down at her lovingly. “Actually, that doesn’t sound quite long enough to me,” he whispered softly. “I think I’ll opt for eternity.”
