Was it possible she could still be waiting for him? Was it possible she might actually forgive him and take him back?
Skyler didn't know, but even the possibility lightened his spirits in a way that he hadn't felt since, well, a long time. Maybe since before Lisa left all those years ago.
He leaned down to scratch Junior's neck. “Come on, boy,” he said quietly. Beneath him the stallion, knowing his rider, tensed in preparation to quicken his pace. “Let's go home.”
