In Her Neighbor's Bed (The Beaumont Series) Page 17

Under the evening sunset in front of over a hundred family and friends, they were married. Finally, Scott pulled her into his arms and kissed his bride.

“Welcome, Mrs. Simmons,” he whispered against her lips.

“I love the way that sounds.” They made their way through the crowd and joined their guests under the silk tents for dinner, music and crowd and joined their guests under the silk tents for dinner, music and celebration.

Zanaa was surrounded by her sisters when she looked across the tent for Scott. Tall and handsome, it wasn’t hard to spot her husband. My husband. She smiled, loving the way that sounded.

“Congratulations!” Leah said as she moved to where she was standing.

“Thank you,” she replied while hugging her.

Leah looked up into her eyes and smiled. “I can’t believe I finally got you married.”

Giggling, Zanaa replied, “Now it’s your turn.”

Her smile vanished. “No way, girl friend. Marriage isn’t for everyone.”

“Hmmm, you sound just like my new brother-in-law. Maybe Scott and I can invite the two of you over for dinner.”

Her brow rose. “Who? The one who loves looking at himself in the mirror? No way.”

“Darnell’s not that bad,” Zanaa giggled.

  “No…he’s worse.”

Scott glanced across the beach at Zanaa laughing with her best friend. Her hair rested on her shoulders just the way he liked it, eyes shone with happiness and lips parted in a smile. He didn’t think she could get any more beautiful until he watched her walked across the sand toward him, vowing to spend the rest of their lives together.

“I’ll have to say you got a good one,” Darnell replied, his eyes following his brother’s across the room.

“Yes, I definitely do,” he said, still staring.

“What can you tell me about her friend? The matron of honor?”

Scott blinked and it took him a second to realize who Darnell was talking about. “Leah? Nice chick but definitely not one for head games.”

Darnell’s eyes twinkled. “She definitely sounds like my kind of lady. Excuse me. I’m about to go make a love connection.”

Scott shook his head as he watched his brother moved over to the Scott shook his head as he watched his brother moved over to the women and threw on the charm. Standing there, he took another second to admire his wife. Just knowing she belonged to him, he couldn’t stay away a second longer. He covered the space in a few short strides, desperately wanting to get out of there and have Zanaa all to himself.

Zanaa was standing between Darnell and Leah, laughing. “Sorry, but I’m going to steal my beautiful wife away,” he said. Coming up from behind, he wrapped his arms around her waist and pressed his lips to her cheek. Before anyone could comment, he took her hand and pulled her aside and into his arms.

“Aren’t you rude?” she scolded playfully then curled her arms around his neck.

“They’ll get over it,” Scott replied then dipped low and captured her mouth in a long, searing kiss.

  “Get a room!”

Scott pulled back and gazed over at Sheyna whose eyes were dancing with mischief. “Actually, that sounds like a wonderful idea. As soon as we cut the cake, let’s get out of here.”

Zanaa gazed up at him with those beautiful golden eyes he adored. “Okay.”

Shortly before midnight, he carried his new bride into the room then laid her gently on the bed and moved beside her. “Finally, I get you all to myself.”

She giggled. “We’ve got the rest of our lives to spend together.”

Scott took her into his arms and kissed her. She was right. They did have the rest of their lives, starting tomorrow on a cruise around Europe. He straightened up to look at her, framing her face with his hands.

“You made me the luckiest man in the world.”

“I love you, Scott.” Zanaa wound her arms tightly around his neck and lowered his mouth to hers.

“And I love you,” he murmured against her lips. This was by far the happiness time of his life and Scott knew it was only the beginning.

And that was okay with him because he was no longer afraid. Instead, he looked forward to everything love had to offer.
