Evan didn’t want Lois to be scared, but surely seeing Ghost like this would make her have second thoughts about them not harming her.

“Ghost, it’s me. It’s Lois.” He tossed and turned and then lay there. She stepped closer with Ford holding her hips, ready to pull her out of harm’s way.

“Ghost, please wake up. I need you. Please, Ghost, I need—”

His eyes popped open and he gasped and looked to each of them and then to Lois.

“Get her out of here. Now!” he roared and Lois jumped and stepped back. He was pissed off at them for letting her see him like this. “Leave.”

“No. You need us. You said you wouldn’t leave me or hurt me. I’m not leaving you,” she said to him and Evan was shocked. Where did this strong, confrontational woman come from? Before any of them could say something, Ghost reached out and grabbed her wrist and pulled her onto the bed next to him. She gasped and they thought he might hurt her, but instead he nuzzled into her neck and inhaled deeply. Tears filled Evan’s eyes as he watched Lois wrap her arm around him the best she could and hold him tightly.

He looked at Ford and Laverty, who both seemed on edge and shocked, Laverty picked up the lamp and fixed it while Ford fixed the covers on the bed and Lois whispered to Ghost.

“I’m not leaving you, Ghost. Don’t try to push me away.”

Lois felt so bad. She was shocked by her reaction to seeing Ghost in need. She hadn’t thought twice about helping him and facing the potential danger of the man who was stuck in another place. He hadn’t hurt her but shocked her by grabbing her so swiftly and pulling her so close. It was like he needed her and she had the ability to calm him. She’d never felt like she could make a difference in anyone’s life or provide for anyone but Kenny as his mother. This was different. This was a sign of maturity, of growth, and of determination not to allow the past to dictate her future.

She tightened up the moment Ghost began to kiss her skin on her neck. He lifted up and wouldn’t look at her, but instead, he ran his hand up under her shirt, lifting it slightly. She gripped it so it wouldn’t go too high and he lowered his mouth to her belly and her hips, kissing a path along the skin.

“When did you get this?” he asked her about her tattoo. It was a set of tiny vines with little white-and-blue flowers that trailed from her hip around her waist to her back. She’d had it done when she was eighteen, before meeting Caden.

She ran her fingers through his hair and swallowed, feeling her mouth dry up with anticipation as he continued to explore her skin with his mouth.

  “When I was eighteen.”

“Were you with him yet?” he asked in that deep, demanding tone of his. Her fingers paused against his hair.

  “No, Ghost,” she told him.

He lifted up and held her gaze.

“Do I scare you, Lois? Do you think I could hit you, force myself on you like he did?” The tears filled her eyes. She hesitated and he gripped her wrists and straddled her body. He cupped her cheeks and held her gaze as he kept her in place. She was shocked by his quickness and control, yet utterly and completely turned on by it.

“No, Ghost. You promised to care for me and protect me.”

He lowered down closer and licked his lips as he focused on her lips. He was so big and heavy. She knew she wouldn’t have a chance against him if he did try to hurt her, but she knew he wouldn’t.

“That’s right. I did. We all did, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do.” He pressed his lips to hers and kissed her deeply.

In no time at all, that kiss got hotter and hotter. She felt her body reacting to him as well as the audience of his three brothers, who stared at them, on guard. When she felt Ghost’s hands moving up her shirt as he lifted up, and then his mouth leaving her lips and trailing down her throat, then under her shirt to her breast, she started panting. He unclipped the front of her bra and immediately suckled a nipple and part of her breast into his mouth. He pressed harder between her legs and she straddled him from underneath as he manipulated her body and made her rock her hips.

“Holy God, she’s incredible,” Laverty said and he joined them on the bed and cupped her other breast while Ghost feasted on her left breast. The sensations of being touched simultaneously sent her over the edge and she moaned and shook as she came.

Evan joined in and kissed her on the mouth. She grabbed at his head and face and held him there as she rocked her hips upward and both Laverty and Ghost feasted on her breasts.

Ghost released her breast with a plop and then kissed lower and lower. She felt his fingers undo the clip on her shorts and she grabbed onto him.

  “Ghost.”

“Just a little taste. A little exploring, so you can get used to our touch.”

He moved her shorts and panties down and then Ford joined in and caressed up her thigh.

“You are so sexy, baby. So giving and amazing,” Ford told her as she locked gazes with him and Ghost leaned down and licked her pussy. This was so erotic. It was too wild to comprehend and she was enjoying every second of it. Four men were feasting on her body and she wasn’t panicking or feeling scared. She was aroused and needy.

He stroked a finger into her cunt as he licked along her pussy and she shivered as she creamed some more. He feasted on her pussy and had her moaning and thrusting against his mouth and fingers. As she reacted to his ministrations he covered her pussy with his mouth and licked and feasted on her. She was panting and moaning when he moved to the side and Ford took his place. He got down between her legs and stroked her cunt with his fingers, then licked at her cream. Laverty and Evan suckled on her breasts and pulled and tugged on her nipples hard. She creamed again and again. She couldn’t stop the sensations they were causing in her.

“So beautiful and perfect. You look like a goddess. Like our goddess,” Ghost said to her. She locked gazes with him as Ford stroked her pussy with two fingers and thrust them faster, deeper. She could feel her core tighten and she cried out another release only for Ghost to cover her mouth and kiss her deeply. Ford moved away and she felt the cool air and the loss of his mouth on her. Then someone else was there. She felt the whiskers and then the nibble on her inner groin.

“You’re so wet, baby. Your body knows. You belong to us,” Laverty told her and then he stroked his tongue along her pussy before adding two fingers to her cunt. They were relentless and she couldn’t believe she was letting them touch her so intimately, yet everything told her this was what she needed, to let go and to be free from the fears and the past. She rocked her hips and then felt his tongue move from her pussy to her anus. Back and forth he stroked both holes and she gasped as Ghost released her lips and then moaned as a finger pressed against her anus.

“Oh, God, Laverty. Oh,” she cried out and then Ford kissed her deeply as the bed moved against the wall and then Evan went to taste her next. “Holy shit, that is hot. You like that, baby? You like a finger in your cunt and your ass?” Evan. Sweet, quiet Evan was talking dirty to her and she lost it as Ghost said, “What?” and looked down, only for Evan to stroke a finger into her pussy and start thrusting in and out. He curled his finger and she gasped just as Laverty nipped and tugged on her nipple. Hands were all over her. Palms against her belly and hips caressing up and down. Mouths on her breasts, fingers, teeth, and tongue were stimulating her cunt, and she cried out once more and then fell back against the pillow.

Evan kissed her pussy and then thanked her for allowing them to pleasure her. Those kisses scattered all over her skin and she felt a warm washcloth and then a dry towel. She blinked her eyes open and they were all there, watching over her.

She saw Ford’s shirt undone and out of his jeans. Laverty’s and Evan’s were undone, too, and Ghost had scratches on his shoulder. She reached up and touched his skin. He took her wrist and kissed the underside of it.

“You’re a wild one, Lois. I can’t wait for my brothers and I to claim every inch of you and fill you with our cocks and ha
ve you begging for mercy.”

“Oh, God,” she said and they chuckled.

“We’ve got plenty of time for that. Today was a step in the right direction,” Ford said and began to tuck in his shirt.

Laverty and Evan helped her pull on her panties and shorts as Ghost stopped her from fixing her bra and shirt.

“Oh, no, you don’t. You’re staying right here with me for another hour.” He pulled her against his side and cupped her breast as he laid his head on her shoulder and closed his eyes. His brothers chuckled. “I guess we’ll finish unloading the truck and get ready for some baking time with our baby,” Evan said and they exited the room.

Lois lay there just thinking about what they did today and how she finally let go and trusted these four men. She prayed she didn’t make a huge mistake and that she could trust them with her heart and her body.

  Chapter 7

“We got ourselves a serious situation with the cops and government agents,” Cornero said to Ganor over the phone.

  “What do you mean?”

“I got people all over the place. You need to find those drugs and guns, pronto. If Don and Caden didn’t scrape off those serial numbers, then when the cops get their hands on those guns, they’ll know exactly where you got them from. I can’t believe a multi-million dollar operation is going down because Caden needed to see Lois and fuck her another time,” Cornero stated in anger.

“Isn’t that why you wanted her to deliver the money, and he threatened her family if she didn’t?” Ganor asked.

“Don’t get wise with me. I’ve been feeding you and your soldier buddies for a good year so they didn’t wind up in a fucking shelter. You need to get to Lois and find out if she knows where Caden would have hid the shit. You need to do it fast, too. We almost got busted on the pier two nights ago and two of my best guys were killed. Another link that will bring the cops and the feds down on my ass.”

“What are you going to do in the meantime?”

“Head to Dallas. I have a place to hide out there while this shit blows over and you find the drugs and guns. Plus it will help, too, that I’m closer to where Lois is.”

  “You know where she is?”

“Of course I do. I know everything. I’ll send the address and the info. Watch your asses and don’t get caught.”

“What do you want us to do if she doesn’t know anything about the drugs and guns?” Ganor asked him.

“Make sure she isn’t lying. Threaten that kid of hers, and the sister. Be careful. There are a lot of cops and retired soldiers in that town. Good ones, so you’re on your own. If you can’t get out of there without any problems, then take her with you and call me. I’ll let you know where I am and I’ll get the information from her somehow.”

Lois stood by the railing and watched Kenny playing football with Ghost. He was throwing the ball to him and Tye, and Lena was trying to tackle them. They had all planned on sitting by the fire tonight after they had dinner together. She saw Kenny stop playing and then run toward the side of the house. She wasn’t the only one watching him, as Laverty squinted his eyes, as well as Ghost and Evan, and then they smiled.

“Sheriff!” Kenny exclaimed, and he jumped into Ford’s arms as he lifted him up and Kenny hugged him. Ford was dressed in his sheriff’s uniform and had just gotten off work. He wasn’t sure he was going to make it home, because they’d had a few arrests that day and a situation with one of the women in town.

Lois exhaled and felt her heart racing. She was falling in love with them quickly.

The other men greeted Ford and he set down Kenny, who went running toward Ghost and the kids again. This time, Ghost threw the ball to Jace and they all started playing.

She headed back into the house to help get the last bit of the food out to the picnic tables. She saw Valentina with Grace and smiled at her.

“Can you bring these two platters out to Sparrow and Ridge? I think those burgers and ribs should be done by now?”

“Sure thing,” she said as Laverty came inside.

“Hey, you’ve got those platters for the burgers and ribs? I think they’re all set?” he asked and Valentina smiled. Lois handed them to him and he leaned down and gave her a kiss. “Thanks, beautiful,” he stated and winked then turned around and headed out. Lois watched him go and when she turned around Valentina chuckled.

“Let me know when you need that overnight. I’ll be sure to keep Kenny occupied,” she said and winked at Lois.

She felt her cheeks warm and then leaned against the counter and watched Valentina wipe Grace’s mouth.

“You’re doing a great job with the kids, Val. You’re a natural,” she told her and Val smiled and held her gaze.

“I can’t believe she’s going to be two in a matter of weeks.”

“Are you going to have a party?”

“I think so. Ella and Dora have asked, as well as some of our new friends. I think it might be nice.”

Just then, baby Grace yelled out the word ’ord! and opened her arms wide. Lois gasped as Ford came up behind her and pressed against her, hugging her against the counter.

Lois tightened up. The tears filled her eyes and Valentina saw her face. Ford must have, too, but then he wrapped his arms around her waist, pulled her back, and snuggled next to her neck.

“It’s me, baby. It’s me.” He kissed her skin and she closed her eyes and let herself breathe. She didn’t know why she’d instantly panicked and had that scared sensation. A flashback of Caden pressing against her from behind—his heavy body, the muscles pushing against her smaller frame, and the feeling of being unable to escape.

“I’ll head outside with Grace. Dinner is just about ready,” Val said and as she passed, Ford touched Grace’s hand and gave her a wink.

“See you outside, sweet pea,” he said and Grace smiled.

Lois leaned back against Ford and he continued to hold her. He whispered against her neck and kissed her jaw.

“I didn’t mean to scare you.”

“I didn’t mean to get scared.”

He turned her around and cupped her cheeks with his hands. “I missed you so much today.”

“I missed you, too, Ford.” He kissed her deeply until the sound of kids running inside to wash up for dinner had them pulling apart and then standing there smiling.

He took her hand and led her outside once all the kids had washed up.

  * * * *

Ford had gone inside to shower and change before the others got the fire started. The kids had just finished making s’mores and looked about ready to pass out. Kenny was falling asleep in Lois’s arms.

“Want me to carry him inside?” Ford asked as he joined them by the fire.

She smiled up at him and he bent down and lifted the little boy into his arms. Kenny mumbled something and then snuggled against Ford’s chest and shoulder. Lois got up with him. He gave a nod to his brothers, who looked content knowing that Kenny was trusting each of them more and more each day. Their cousins were all heading inside the cottage to help put Tye, Lena, and Grace to bed, too.

“We can keep an eye on Kenny so you and the guys can enjoy the fire,” he heard Valentina say to Lois.

“Okay. I won’t be out late, though,” she said and Ford looked at her, holding her gaze and thinking that she would be out real late and, if he had his way, she would be joining them in their bed. The fact that she’d felt tense earlier as he’d pressed up against her made him realize she was still scared. There had to be a way to help ease her mind.

He set Kenny down onto the bed and helped Lois remove his sneakers and his socks—he’d already had his pajamas on—as they tucked him under the covers. He stepped back so Lois could kiss him good night.

“We just need to keep this light on,” she told Ford. He was surprised—it was such a bright light. It practically illuminated the entire room.

“Why one so bright?” he asked and she placed her finger over her lips for him to be quiet. Whe
n they got into the hallway, she pulled her sweater tight and looked up into his eyes.

“He gets scared in the dark. He sleeps with that light on to help him not be afraid.”

His gut clenched as she continued to walk down the hallway, and he followed her off the back porch and to the fire. Before she could sit, he took her hand and brought her to the bigger chair with the cushions on it. “Sit with me,” he said and pulled her onto his lap. She snuggled up close to him as his brothers gathered around, too.

“How is the therapy going for him? He seems to be making progress,” Ford asked as he caressed her thigh and she pulled her sweater tighter. She was shivering despite the heat of the fire and the warm night.

“He’s coming along good. School has really made a difference, as well as your cousins and you guys being around, too. He feels safer knowing that you’re the sheriff and your brothers are all good soldiers like your cousins,” she said to him.

He placed his palm against her cheek and held her gaze.

“How about you? Do you feel safer being around us, too?”

She held his gaze and she nodded her head.

He stared at her lips and squeezed her waist so she was snug against him.

“I didn’t mean to scare you before,” he told her and she looked away and sat up straighter. He wouldn’t let her get up off his lap, and his brothers listened, wondering what happened.

  “That was my fault.”

“It’s not your fault. Certain things trigger memories. It could be a smell, a song, a sound of a movement that mimics the same thing in a memory and you get a flashback.”

“What happened, baby?” Ghost asked, sitting in the chair next to them. He covered her knee with his hand and she looked at him and gave a soft smile.

  “It was nothing.”

“I came up to her from behind while she was bent over the counter talking to Valentina. I scared her and she tightened up. Even Valentina saw her expression and knew she was scared.”
