Izzy reached behind her and took his cock in her hand. Alex smiled as he nipped her shoulder because she was so much less inhibited about what she wanted now. She would reach for him whenever the mood struck her, demanding him as much as he demanded her. She was becoming just as aggressive as he was and it was perfect. He threw back his head and groaned as she stroked his cock. She opened her legs and wrapped a leg around him as she guided his cock to her pussy.

Alex pulled back slightly. “Not yet, angel. I want to play a little more.”

Isabel wasn’t listening. By the way she was urgently reaching for him, Alex knew she was already consumed by her own primal lust. She maneuvered herself and quickly consumed his cock inside her eager pussy. Alex flipped her over and roughly picked up her hips as he landed a slap to her ass.

“I said to wait for it!” Alex growled and Izzy moaned. This wasn’t the first time he’d meted out a little discipline to her. He massaged away the sting he knew he’d caused her. He ran his hands over her smooth ass. “I’ll fuck you when I’m damn good and ready.”

Alex brushed his fingers over her clit and Isabel pushed back against his hand. He slapped her cheek again and briefly wished the light was on so he could see his handy work. Her creamy pussy was calling to him. It wouldn’t be much longer that he could resist.

  “Don’t fucking move!” He growled.

“Alex!” Izzy demanded as he brushed her clit again.

“Do you want me, angel?” Alex teased as he sank two fingers inside her cunt.

“You know I do,” Isabel said, shoving backward, forcing his fingers deeper.

Alex slapped her ass again. “I asked you a question. I didn’t tell you to move!”

  “Stop teasing me!” Isabel growled.

Alex removed his hand as he gripped his cock and rubbed it up and down her slit. Without warning he shoved forward and impaled himself deep inside her throbbing pussy. He gripped her hips and willed himself not to be too rough with her. She was having his baby after all.

“Hang on, angel. I’m in a mood tonight.”

Isabel cried out as he slammed in and out of her, disregarding her cries and giving in to his own carnal need for release, fucking her hard and fast. Isabel reached around and grabbed his wrist. His fingers were digging into her flesh and he kept pounding into her pussy without any thought to her pleasure. Right now it was all about him. He sensed his need to climax draw closer. His balls tightened and the familiar slight spasm in his back as he ploughed into Isabel and allowed himself to come deep inside her. After he was finished he flipped her over and roughly pushed her knees back.

“What we have here, a freshly fucked pussy…” Alex taunted.

Isabel screamed when he attached his mouth to her clit and started sucking it. He nibbled and licked as she squirmed under him. She grabbed his head and fisted his short hair.

  “Eat me!” she commanded.

Alex’s cock immediately responded to her demand. He nipped and licked her clit expertly as he drove her closer to the edge. He pushed his finger inside her slick pussy and fingered her G-spot. Izzy screamed when her orgasm slammed her. She rubbed her pussy into his face as her hips jerked and her body shook. Alex lapped at their combined juices and relished as he watched Izzy ride the tide of her climax. He listened to her soft whimpering as she came off her high and knew he needed to stop. Alex kissed up her body and felt exhaustion wash over him as he pulled her close.

  “Good night, angel.”

Izzy’s alarm sounded and she giggled. “Good morning.”

Alex drifted off to sleep as Isabel climbed out of bed to get ready for work. He didn’t hear her dress or leave, but he awoke at the sound of his phone going off. He squinted at the call and answered it.

  “What’s up, Rock?” he asked.

  * * * *

Captain O’Malley sat looking at a copy of an e-mail sent to the security officer at Brooks City-Base three days ago and he was now officially annoyed. His command master chief who had found this e-mail sat in front of him, worried.

“Rock, you can’t shoot anyone. Remember, they’re on our side until we find out different,” Mac cautioned.

“Cocksuckers don’t act like they’re on our side. Are you telling me this asshole forgot that Alex was working with them? What the fuck is wrong with this picture?” Rock demanded.

“I’m sure there’s a reasonable, satisfactory explanation for this,” Mac said.

“Really? I would love to hear it, Mac.”

“I’ve called Lt. Commander Babette and Lieutenant Lewis. I’m sure they’re figuring out where this oversight occurred,” Mac said.

“Mac, this better be good,” Rock said.

  “Rock…”

“Just saying, you know what a prick I can be when it comes to stupid shit like this.”

One hour later, Rock was tired of waiting. He picked up the phone and called Lt. Commander Babette’s office and was informed she was in a meeting and wasn’t available. The admin on the other end informed him, politely, she would take a message. Rock inhaled and closed his eyes in an effort not to crawl through the phone.

“Tell her Captain O’Malley called and I need an explanation for an oversight that occurred with Dr. Richards. Inform the commander that I am waiting for her explanation,” Rock said.

Rock dialed the next number on his list and received the same answer for Captain Hartfel. You fuckers better be getting your story straight because a shit storm is coming. Rock picked up the phone and called Admiral Campbell.

“Dixie, I’m having some problems with that outfit Alex is working with.”

  “What’s the problem, Rock?”

“They don’t understand their role. I need to do something different. Three days ago Alex’s access to the lab he was working at was lifted. He was running an experiment in conjunction with NSA and it was ruined because he couldn’t get to his work in time. It’s set us back at least a week. I want us to work directly with the NSA and Sergei and get that other outfit out of the middle or at least let me run this operation instead of them being the lead. This is a major fuck-up we can’t afford,” Rock said.

“His access was lifted? How the hell did that happen?” Dixie questioned.

“Security firm running out of Brooks City-Base sent out a mass e-mail to all tenants asking them to update their personnel lists, when the lieutenant working with him responded, he left Alex off the list so his CAC card was killed.”

  “Are you serious?” Dixie asked.

“Dixie, this shit is really starting to irritate me. I know we need them for cover but I’ve got work to do and if I have to watch this, let me run the project and get them the hell out of the way. I can work directly with our people and not have to chase this crap down every day.”

“Rock, let me make a few calls. You’ll hear from me by this afternoon.”

“All right, boss. Alex is pulling residency duty for a couple of days. He wanted to redo his experiment today. I’ll tell him to hold off until we get this straight,” Rock said.

“I’ll have something for you today.”

Captain O’Malley picked up the phone again and dialed a different number.

  “Alex?”

  “What’s up, Rock?”

“Don’t worry about going to Brooks today. I’m fixing it so we cut out the middle man.”

“Okay. Let me knew when I can go back.”

  “I will,” Rock said.

  Chapter 24

  Brooke Army Medical Center

  Fort Sam Houston

  March 18, 2010/1515 Zulu

Alex sat with Isabel against his chest. He rubbed her lower back and she moaned lowly. She’d been in labor for the last six hours and he was attempting the impossible task of relieving the pain. Her labor seemed to be centered in her back.

“How is it, angel?” Alex asked.

  “Where’s my dad?” Isabel groaned.

“He went downstairs to get something to drink,” Alex said, rubbing her back a little firme
r.

  “Alex, I’m so miserable.”

  “I’m sure you are, baby.”

Isabel tensed and then relaxed because another wave of pain had just run through her. He kissed the top of her head and looked up when the door opened. A nurse stepped into the room.

“Mrs. Richards? How are the contractions?”

  “Slow.” Isabel groaned.

“Can I check to see if you’ve dilated anymore?” the nurse asked as she came around.

Alex moved away so that Isabel could turn onto her back. The nurse checked and informed them Isabel had indeed dilated a little more. The time was getting closer.

“I think I’ll go ahead and call the anesthesiologist so he can get ready for the epidural,” the nurse said.

“She’s dilated that much?” Alex asked.

The nurse nodded as Isabel groaned again. She cast a concerned glance at Izzy. Alex resumed his position on the bed, holding Isabel.

“Hang on, angel. It won’t be that much longer.”

Isabel wrapped her hands around his arm and held on. Thank goodness, it wasn’t long before the anesthesiologist arrived and started preparing Isabel. Alex was relieved. This would give Izzy some much-needed relief from some of the pain she was experiencing. It wouldn’t completely take away the pain of her labor and delivery, but it would help with the back pain. Within a few minutes of starting the medication, he watched her relax a little. Alex pulled up a chair and held Izzy’s hand, watching her doze off. He petted her lightly as she slept and turned when he heard the door slide open behind him.

  “What’s happening?” Diego asked.

“They just gave her an epidural and she’s sleeping.”

Alex looked up at his father-in-law. Diego looked worried. Diego understood the process. Before leaving Cuba, he had been a doctor. When he arrived in the United States, there had been no way to afford his medical licenses so he had let it go and started working as an orderly in a hospital. Diego had more pressing things to do, like support himself and his daughter. Before long he had been moved into supply and now was getting ready to retire from the hospital as the chief of logistics.

“What does that do for the contractions?” Diego asked.

“It slows them down. They chased the epidural with Pitocin so the contractions would kick in again. Izzy can’t feel them as intensely,” Alex said.

“What about the baby? What are the side effects?”

“There’s the potential for arrhythmias and seizures. It’s a common drug. I’m sure everything will be fine.”

Alex didn’t want to think about his newborn baby not having a proper heartbeat and seizures. Suddenly Izzy cried out. Alex gave his full attention to her. She was reaching for the call button on the remote next to her.

“What’s wrong, angel?” Alex asked calmly.

  “It’s coming! Alex!”

“All right, angel. It’s okay, you know the drill. Everything will be fine,” Alex said calmly as he stood.

The nurse came in and lifted the sheet. Alex took a peek around and his heart stopped. The baby was crowing. He and the nurse exchanged worried glances.

“I’ll page the doctor. He’s in the hospital,” the nurse reassured.

“Get on it,” Alex ordered quietly.

Izzy started to push and Alex stopped her, he didn’t want her to tear. He needed to make her consciously aware of what her body was doing naturally. Alex guided Izzy’s hand underneath the sheet so she could feel the baby’s head. The doctor walked in and Izzy lazily pushed again. He stopped her. The doctor worked his hands around and the baby seemed to pop out. The epidural had helped Izzy focus on the experience rather than the pain of her contractions. Alex watched as they rated and evaluated his new baby daughter, Leila. The nurse handed Isabel the baby and his breath caught because he’d never witnessed a more beautiful picture, his daughter in her mother’s arms. Diego walked back inside when the doctor walked out of the room.

  “Leila,” Isabel cooed.

Alex lowered the rail on Isabel’s bed and sat next to her. He looked down at Leila and was suddenly overcome with emotion. He swallowed hard and closed his eyes, sending up a silent prayer of thanks.

“Alex? You okay, baby?” Isabel asked.

  “Never better, angel.”

“Do you want to hold her?” Izzy asked.

“I might not let go,” Alex said as he took Leila, who protested slightly at her change of position. Izzy giggled.

Alex walked to Diego. The older man clasped his hands together and smiled. Alex could see unshed tears in his eyes.

“Que linda, mamacita,” Diego choked in a whisper.

Diego took his granddaughter and kissed her head. Alex felt his life shift in a single moment, knowing from this moment on, things would never be the same for him. Leila and Isabel had changed his life forever. He was now redeemed and fresh. He had a new beginning and a chance to do something special.

  * * * *

Izzy heard Alex’s phone ring and immediately the butterflies started swarming. The guest room was in order and waiting. They had been home three weeks and thank goodness Alex had taken some leave. As always he’d eased them into a routine as much as Leila would let them. Izzy was working on staying on top of some post-partum blues and seemed to be doing better as the days slipped by with Leila. He’d put off having his mom and sister come to see them long enough. They were at the airport and Alex needed to go pick them up.

“Angel, I’m going to the airport. Do you need anything? I’ll pick it up on my way home,” Alex said.

“No, I’m fine. I’ll straighten up while you’re gone,” Izzy said.

Alex kissed her and was out the door. Izzy needed to do something with her nervous energy. She hadn’t been able to sleep last night because of the impending visit. Even though his family seemed nice over the phone, she was still very anxious and worried. She went to the kitchen and put away dishes. She went upstairs and checked the guest rooms. Alex’s sister would be sleeping on the futon in Leila’s room. Leila was in a bassinet in their room for now. She heard Leila cry out slightly and she rushed to living room where it looked like she was waking up from her midafternoon nap.

Izzy’s full breasts needed relief because it was time for Leila to nurse. She sat down and quietly talked to her daughter as Leila nursed. As Izzy looked down at the precious face she was glad Alex was Leila’s father because he’d been right. Izzy would’ve made a horrible mistake giving her up. Even though she was having a difficult time adjusting, the decision to marry Alex and raise their baby was a better decision than the one she almost made.

As Izzy was rocking Leila after she was finished nursing, she heard the door swing open and voices approaching. She took a deep breath and gathered her courage. Alex had assured Izzy his mother and sister would love her just as much as he did, but Izzy was cautiously waiting to see what would really happen. He was a rich white boy from Beverly Hills and she was a biracial Cuban refugee from Little Havana. Izzy was suspicious and nervous. Leila was still awake and squirming around, crying a little. Izzy guessed that the baby could feel her mother’s tension.

Alex came around the corner and smiled. Izzy couldn’t help but smile back. He’d told her so many times since they’d brought the baby home how he loved seeing them together. Two women stood tentatively behind him, peeking around him at Isabel. One was petite. The other was tall like Alex. Izzy guessed that the smaller woman was his mother. She was older and reminded Izzy of Irene. She was dressed impeccably and looked like she’d just stepped out of the pages of a magazine. The other was more relaxed and wore an impish grin.

“Isabel?” the older woman said, stepping from behind Alex.

  “Hi.”

“I’m Jaicee, Alex’s mom. It’s nice to finally meet you in person!” the woman exclaimed happily. Alex took Leila from Isabel and his mother gathered Izzy in a warm embrace. Isabel was relieved at least his mother seemed to like her. “Isabel! What a beautiful name and it fits such a
beautiful girl!”

“Thank you, Mrs. Richards,” Izzy said shyly.

“Izzy, this is my sister Kyra,” Alex said.

“Hello, Isabel. It’s nice to meet you. Did he have to kidnap you?” Kyra asked, jerking her thumb at Alex.

  “Kyra!” Jaicee exclaimed.

“I’m only asking because he’s an ugly brute. I don’t understand why someone who looks like Halle Berry would want to be seen with the Geico caveman over there. She could do better. Just saying…” Kyra shrugged.

Izzy laughed at the joke and Alex handed Leila to his mother. He walked up behind Isabel, wrapped his arm around her shoulder, and another around her midsection. He kissed her possessively and looked at his sister.

“She ain’t getting away. Ever,” Alex said.

“Oh, Leila! Your daddy and auntie are so bad!” Jaicee said to her granddaughter.

Isabel was relieved and let the tension of the unknown melt away. Alex’s sister and mother seemed really nice and accepting. They went to the living room where they made themselves at home and started to get acquainted. Later as they settled into bed, Isabel asked her questions.

“Your mom is really sweet, Alex. Does she work?”

“She used to. She’s an actress. She was on daytime TV. Her longest run was on The Bold and the Beautiful. I think she even has a couple of Emmys. She quit a couple of years ago,” Alex said.

“Are you serious? Oh my God! Alex, why didn’t you tell me that before she got here!” Isabel exclaimed.

“Because she wasn’t coming for an audition. She was coming to meet you and Leila,” Alex said nonchalantly.

  “She’s famous!” Isabel almost screamed.

“I never knew her as Willa Neville. She’s my mom, angel,” Alex said.

  “What does your sister do?”

“She’s a comedian,” Alex said with a smile.

“I know. She’s really funny, but what does she do?” Izzy asked.

“That’s what she does. Kyra’s a comedian. She just got off tour two weeks ago,” Alex said.

  “Alex!”

“Izzy, I didn’t want to make you any more nervous than you already were. Now you see them as family. That’s it, my mom and my sister. Nothing else.”
