“Yuri...” Maksim gasped the name, fearing what the boy was capable of. “What are you doing? You have to stop...”
“Stop? Stop!?” the boy shrieked. “I'm only getting started, Uncle. You told me these crimes would be punished, so I'm going to punish them. I'm going to punish them all.”
“Yuri,” Carmen begged his name in little more than a whisper. “You killed him. He's dead. You need to calm down.”
“I'll tell you what I need to do,” Yuri shouted, “I need to teach them a lesson! The only reason this happened is because the mortals don't fear us anymore. Great-grandfather died and now everyone thinks we're weak. They think we're powerless.”
Yuri rose up off the floor, blood dripping from his body. “I'm going to remind them how powerful the Zharkovs are. I'm going to show them how strong I am. I'm going to make them fear us again!”
Then the tiny boy with the power of a god raging through his veins rocketed into the sky, the fury of revenge fueling his flight, and his mind focused solely on the destruction of humanity.
