by T. K. Leigh
“You need to learn to live a little, Ellie. Stop thinking and just roll with the punches.” Grinning, she tossed the coin into the air.
The following day, we were on our way to San Francisco, where she’d met Steven, the man she ended up marrying…all because of the flip of a coin.
Smiling to myself, I repeated Mila’s words from all those years ago. “Stop thinking and just roll with the punches.” I formed a fist around the coin, looking above me. “Okay, fate. You decide. Heads I go. Tails I stay.”
I muttered a silent prayer, then tossed the coin into the air. The seconds stretched into an immeasurable quantity as I watched it flip over and over again, then begin falling. Holding my palm out, I caught it, then placed it on my opposite hand, keeping it covered.
This is it, I thought, wondering if I was crazy to determine my future based on the toss of a coin. Dante believed it was fate that brought us together. I had to believe fate would reunite us when the time was right. And if fate wanted us to be together now, she’d send me a sign.
Briefly closing my eyes, I lifted my hand, peering at the coin. I let out the breath I’d been holding, then slung my laptop bag over my shoulder, heading in the direction fate had prescribed for me.
To be continued…

This is always the part of every book that is the hardest to write. Okay. Maybe the second hardest. I loathe writing sex scenes, even though I love the final product. But that’s a discussion for another day. There are always so many people who help with the process of releasing a book into the world, some who physically put their mark on the book, and others who are simply there to offer me the encouragement I need to keep going day after day.
First, I need to thank my wonderful husband, whose support has never wavered since this all began nearly five years ago now. I couldn’t do this without him stepping in and helping with little Harper Leigh so I can have a little bit more time to write when I need it.
Another big thank you to my wonderful group of beta readers — Lin, Stacy, Melissa, Joelle, Victoria, Sylvia. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time to read this, then read it again when I decided to change things around a bit. Your willingness to drop everything to offer me your thoughts means so much.
There’s only one person I’d ever trust with my book babies, and that’s Kim Young. She is such a fantastic editor to work with, always going above and beyond to make my story even better. I couldn’t do this without her analytical eyes, and am forever grateful I found her.
On that same note, thank you to the lovely Laura Rossi for taking the time out of her own writing schedule to look over all the Italian in this book to make sure it’s correct. I am eternally grateful to call you a friend.
A huge thanks to Emily and all the ladies at Social Butterfly for helping me with this crazy project of mine, especially with a release a month. Just when I think we have a second to breathe, we’re gearing up for yet another release, so thanks for all you do in keeping me organized.
Thanks to my wonderful reader group and my street team who help spread the word about my books all over the place. You’re the reason I’ve been able to stay independently published, so thank you for loving my words enough to take time out of your own schedules to promote me. On that same note, thank you to all you amazing bloggers out there who volunteer to read and review our books, even when you may not be in the mood for that particular book. The industry wouldn’t be able to survive without all you do for us.
And last but not least, thanks to you, my wonderful readers! Whether you’re a new T.K. reader or you’ve been with me since the early days, thanks for taking a chance on my work. I am truly humbled by all your support.
This is just the beginning of Dante and Ellie’s story. There’s so many more twists and turns to come, and I can’t wait to share the continuation with you in March of 2018!
Peace and love,
