Every Good Cowboy Deserves A Second Chance Page 29

At last, the biker nodded quickly in agreement. Matthew grabbed a couple of planks of plywood out of the truck bed and pulled down the tailgate. He created a make-shift ramp, then grabbed one side of the bikes handles as the biker took the other side. Together, they pushed the bike up onto the bed of the truck and covered it with tarps.

Matthew nodded towards the cab. “Hop in and let’s get out of here.”

The biker opened the passenger-side cab door and climbed in. He reached up to remove his helmet causing a curtain of thick, long, black hair to tumble out.

Matthew’s mouth fell open in shock.

  The biker was a…she.

  An absolutely, beautiful woman too.

Matthew couldn’t help but stare. The girl appeared to be in her late twenties. Her hair was long, dark and slightly curled from being under the helmet. Her face was feminine with high cheekbones, soft, full lips, and a slightly tan complexion. Her hazel eyes were deep and alluring, framed by thick dark lashes.

She shrugged out of her heavy, wet leather jacket, to reveal a black top underneath. Without the weight of a masculine jacket to hide behind, he noticed that she was curvy. He realized he was being rude and quickly looked away, clearing his throat.

  “I’m Matthew. Matthew Collins.”

“Laura,” she replied without glancing his way.

He threw her a curious look. “Do you have a last name or is it just Laura?”

  “Just Laura,” she said.

“Alrighty then,” he said, hiding a grin. Picking up a stranger hadn’t been on his to-do list. Then again, he knew God worked in mysterious ways. He carefully pulled the truck back onto the road. “Let’s see if we can ride out a big, bad hurricane named Grace.”
